    Since Eren said to Armin that the Founder's influence makes the past, present and future exist all at once and mess up the mind, it would have been ideal to show more Eren's perspective. You can go many ways to deliver something impactful of what he's experiencing in his mind as the Founder.

      Not having him as a reliable POV after the timeskip was a major mistake. Him being an unreliable narrator just makes things confusing and I get that Isayama wanted to keep some questions and mysteries around, but I think it was hard to wrap up because some of these things hadn't been properly set up from Eren's POV

    Its been a while since I read the last chapter, but I remember some things that made me dislike this ending:-
    1. Even though Eren crying is a completely natural reaction, but having him be this edgy and mysterious and emotionless person who commits genocide, only to then suddenly be so emotional and be in love with Mikasa seemed so anti climatic. There was no buildup, Eren showed no romantic affection towards Mikasa the entire series.He mostly seemed annoyed by her overprotectiveness. And it doesn't help that we get too little of Eren's POV except for the Marley visit.
    2. Historia's pregnancy was literally not relevant to the plot. I understand that it was so that Historia didn't have to inherit the beast titan. But it didn't matter because the story would have still worked if Zeke simply carried out his plan to turn the scouts into titans before they could arrange for historia to eat him.
    By getting her pregnant not only doesn't an important character like Historia get removed from the story for the rest if the series, but as a reader I felt betrayed when this was ultimately of no relevance at all.
    3. The fact that Ymir had the power to just erase all titans entirely is thr most frustrating part. Why was Eren killing everyone then? Maybe he didn't know Ymir can do that. But that doesn't help this is still the deus ex machina moment for thr scouts and marleyans.
    PS:- Also Eren causing Dina to kill his mom is a very sh*ty reveal. It's like if Spiderman goes back in time to kill uncle Ben so that he can learn the lesson. A very simple fix would be to just not mention that. His mom died, as simple as that, why do we need to have Eren pull the strings here too.

    • @KafuKemeh
      @KafuKemeh 8 месяцев назад +7

      Eren did not want historia to inherit any titan because he did not want her lifespan to be reduced and also to stop her from being used to continue the cycle of children eating her parents.
      It is literally explained that Ymir was waiting for Mikasa to make a choice to kill Eren. Because she wanted someone to help her be free from her toxic relationship to the king

    • @subhamdas943
      @subhamdas943 8 месяцев назад +14

      @@KafuKemeh No I know that and I get it. But...
      1. I think Historia being pregnant seemed to be a big deal and there was no payoff to it. I wish there could have been any other way to prevent her from inheriting a Titan.
      2. I also understood what Isayama was going for with Ymir. But again there was no buildup or foreshadowing to Ymir loving Fritz. One of the best parts about AOT used to be the foreshadowing.
      But despite that, the fact that Ymir could just make all Titan go away was way too convenient. It was like the scene from Avengers where all chitauri simply die with the mothership.

    I think the problem a lot of people have with the ending is the fact that Eldia is attacked in the future due to Eren not completing 100% of the Rumbling. However, the author’s intent was to demonstrate that no matter what, humanity will always fight against each other. Hypothetically speaking, even if Eren did complete the Rumbiling and only Eldians exist, they would eventually find a reason to fight in a long enough timeline. The case that Eldians fighting Eldians is better than the world fighting Eldians makes no sense. At the end of the day, people will always fight people regardless of their shared or unshared blood/ancestry. The point of Attack on Titan is to show the viewers that humanity will always fight itself - whether it be by difference of race or not. The world is cruel and no Rumbiling could ever stop human hate from propagating itself again in the future. We can see it with our world today, there’s been two world wars already and the fighting still continues.

    The biggest misconception about memories scene is that people think eren got war for paradise and war for Marley arc memories when he kissed historai’s hand which is outright completely wrong
    And the other misconception is about eren’s character
    When eren says he was the way as he was a kid

    I feel like the main reason why people don't like the ending is bc fans made incredible theories that seemed so likely, that by the end anything other than those endings felt like it fell short. I like the end, but man that war hammer titan theory ending would have been incredible

    • @kurokamina8429
      @kurokamina8429 8 месяцев назад +5

      I never really liked that theory, it has a lot of logistical oversight. Someway some how the alliance and paradis missed this long ass cable that stretched across paradis, the ocean and Marley. Secondly him making contact with historias baby would take awhile after the rumbling stopped because eren would be stuck in a crystal which is healing his body and is back in shinganshina and we don't know the gap between him and Historia. There's no way they would put her so close to shinganshina let alone that far out from the shina.
      Now there are ways this could have technical worked. 139 suggest based on the wording of eren that the founding titan can amplify or strengthen the power of whatever titan power is paired with it (before he had access to the founding titan, he could only see his future memories from previous Attack titan users that were sent those memories. Bit now he could see it all). Taking this into account, the Warhammer ability could be strengthened by no longer needing a cable attached and can be controlled remotely like a separate titan. So erens back on paradise, he is fully healed, breaks out and heads to historia while the alliance is still fighting the final titan. This could lead to that same ending without the alliance looking like blind idiots as well as having an almost fast reactivation of the rumbling. But that's just me being a devils advocate.

    • @mleonpeon
      @mleonpeon 8 месяцев назад +3

      @@kurokamina8429you make a good point. My understanding was always that if not strengthened by the founding titan where it doesn't need a cable, the cable would be hidden either under ground/ water or under all of the destruction of the colossal titans. As for unbreaking the crystal to get himself out, eren undid all hardening when the walls broke so he now has that power along with being able to make titans and control them at will, and whatever else. What really made me like the thought of the theory though, was imagining zeke dieing, all of the titans stop their March and the alliance celebrates. and then out of nowhere...they begin again a destruction that can't be stopped due to Eren being all the way back at home making contact with either historia or the baby. The dread of that situation would just feel so right.

    I think it’s really wise to leave the ending more or less realistic. War will always happen.
    And for me, the ending is just an amplification of Mikasa’s quote, “This world is cruel. It is also very beautiful.”

    I strongly believe that Paradise island was always doom, I just wish she included the ecological damage and the long-term droughts and rainstorms Paradise island will face. Knowing the effects of the Permian mass extinction, and the Cretaceous mass, extinction, the Rumbling purge so much ecological life and water that Paradise island Will be trapped in a rain shadow for many decades and by the time were the wildlife recover, mega mega storms will kick in and acid rain will fall. By the time of the Late Triassic, it rained for over 1 million years thanks to the permian mass extinction. It’s clear, Paradise island would be destroy regardless if it was a partial or full rumbling. Basically, Eren doom his friends regardless if they stop the rumbling and only prove that Eren should I follow his friends decision on a partial, rumbling, and specified, which military location should be destroyed while also stealing that same Technology. All I think that Eren simply exacerbated the problem to the point where regardless of what the survey scout done, Yeagerist Will be successful on reversing all goodwill and only full the hatred towards the New Eldian Empire which is justified because of both the Rumbling and the invasion and poor treatment by the Yeagerist, also, how trustworthy can a ultranationalist organization can be. They probably already (if the rumbling haven’t destroyed relationship) backstabbed Hizuru and Onyankopon’s homeland and enslave their people. Basically, Paradise island destined for destruction and Eren simply delay that destruction for around 10 years if we include mega droughts and mega storms like Hypercane, and if the climatic chaos never happen, only 100 years before the world have their justifiable revenge. Knowing human nature and being a Maya, the Rumbling and Survey corps saving the world does not change how the Paradise island is view upon the world, all it does is change the enemy from all Eldian to only Paradise island and further justified Eldian’s hatred to Paradise island while only justifying the Eldian Protection Group that Paradise should been destroyed alone time ago. Sorry but Attack on Titan was always meant to have a very depressing ending no matter what our heroes can do and only shows how past mistakes and hatred drive people into uncontrollable madness.

And when I asked, they just said that there will be peoples crying there and there and pirates and bandits will roamed all places outside of Paradis. But that's just it. They never bothered to dive in any further than that. They never thought about what is going to happen next. Did the Second Eldian Empire expand by forming its own massive navy? How many Eldians came to live on Paradis and the other territories the new Eldian imperial government acquired? Are the Eldians outside of the Empire's territories still being treated badly? How much dreduced is racism against the Eldians? What became of Hizuru? Who is in charge of Marley now? Did Onyankopon's homeland regain independence? Whatever happened to the nations that formed the Mid-East Allied Forces? What led to the bombing of Shiganshina?

    Remember? There was a foreshadow to Eren telling the Armin inn the end that "he's just an idiot who got his hands on great powers", this was foreshadowed more than one time when Reiner said on more than one occasion way back in the 2nd season that Eren is the last person on earth who should have the Founding Titan's powers. Eren was called a "Suicidal Maniac" so many times, he had this reputation of being reckless and self-destructive while wanting avenge his long lost loved ones. He always went head-on into trouble to solve problems, remember Grisha scolding him with words "this is not the way to do it, throwing caution to the wind, you survived by pure luck" with Eren saying : "I didn't know how else to save Mikasa".. I guess, Isayama knew where he was going with Eren's character all along, leading up to his breakdown and ugly crying towards the end. It was not shocking.

    Someone on Reddit told me that the official Translation for whar Armin said is rather like this: 'You really were a....' and 'thank you Eren. You became a mass murderer for our sake. I won't let that terrible mistake go to waste' which kinda changes the view on Armin, because he is not thanking Eren for becoming a mass murderer but instead judges him despite the fact that Eren did it for them. It may still be not perfect but it doesn't feel out of character for Armin - I'm not sure if it is true tho, I haven't checked the official translation yet

The exteneded Ending is just there to show the repeated mistakes of humanity, why do you care about Eldia at this point anyways? I personally have a problem with the Jaegerists still being a thing post rumbling. To me, all the chapters leading to the finale painted them as not great because of how radical they were and how they were being just as bad as the Marleyans they hated, but then the last chapter shows them being not only in control but they're also being sort of celebrated? It just didn't make sense to me, especially if the post epilogue ending is the Earth getting destroyed anyways. Both of these things together just make it feel like a bummer but somehow our characters are celebrating it, which doesn't fit well. It would have made more sense if the military weren't Jaegerists considering the MCs literally just came back from defying them and killing their idol.

    • @dolliabeautys
      @dolliabeautys 8 месяцев назад +2

      Yeah, I agree too. But I think it just convey that humans will always be at war with each other. Because like Eren even though he even the playing fields, Marley will remember Paradise as the ones who supported the devil that wiped out 80% of humanity. The same as Jaegerists preparing for an attack eventually. Just a constant cycle of war, unfortunately.

      Isayama like realism and it makes no sense for Paradis to NOT HAVE a jeagerist army just after the rumbling and after learning the outside world hated them and might seek revenge. Remember it's still fresh and those people were still trapped behind walls 3 years ago
      People are scared and when people are scared they vote for extremist groups. They were popular before Eren's death so 3 years after his death, it makes no sense for them to disappear.
      For me it's a warning for the viewers : if you let your fears takes controle, radicalization will follow.
      Isayama chose the logical version. But he added Mr Braus Family in the crowd looking unhappy to show us the good people are not supporting the jeagerist

    • @e443productions9
      @e443productions9 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@solesofwind9543 I see your point but I still feel like him choosing realism is at the expense of thematic coherence in my opinion. The Braus family are the only ones shown to be unhappy and other characters that we previously liked like Hitch and Historia are shown to not only be in support of the Jaegerists by the end, but Historia's letter also celebrates the "Fight fight fight" mentality in a way that to me feels like it's giving strength to that faction on a thematic level.
      Like, I don't have a problem with the violence continuing. My problem is that it continues at the expense of the main themes which were to try and get the children out of the forest and strive for a better future by breaking the old cycles of revenge and constant fighting. The story goes out of its way to point out how Eren's character flaw that led to his downfall was his unwavering need to be fighting, so for that to be celebrated in the ending is antithetical to him being killed off. In the same way, the Braus family being shown not in support doesn't work enough of a negative endorsement of the Jaegerists for me, and instead just felt like the themes they represented had "lost". That's why I don't like it.
      Isayama being realistic in that manner weakens his main themes, and I would have rather seen the island not be so polarized by the end, but still show a few characters being supporters of the Jaegerists. Not the entire country! Especially not when the tone of the finale is very positive and hopeful. It's very confusing to me and made it hard to understand what was going on. Then the post epilogue with everything being destroyed just made it somehow worse. Like, pick a lane. Do you wanna be hopeful and poetic or pessimistic? It's not THAT bad, but I still feel like its ambiguous in a not so intentional manner. Like, it's ambiguous because I'm getting conflicting information about what is being shown in a positive light, and not ambiguous because the tone is ambiguous and open ended.
      Haven't seen the anime version yet, but I hope the directors made the tone more clear one way or another.

      It's to highlight and emphasize the painful burden Eren had to bear in order to make sure that the correct timeline would happen. Having his mother killed in front of him would drive him to "kill all the titans in the world!". The ending or rather, the entire story wouldn't have happened without the death of eren's mother. Also, he can't have Bert killed which if it had happened, the timeline again wouldn't have happened. Maybe Isayama didn't have to have Eren kill his mum, however it perfectly exemplifies the gravity and weight of the choices Eren had to make to ensure the best possible ending. It gives you pathos and an emotional kick.

    -i think people also misunderstand the "mass murderer" line, armin is clearly condemning eren for what he did but accepts that they have to go through with his plan and accepts that he is trying to save paradis (although it could have been better done)
    -i don't get why people say that reiner's one line destroys his entire character, he was always a bit of a creep lol
    -as someone else in the comments said i think that the message said in the extra pages that war would continuously repeat, however an ending with eren destroying the world and paradis suffering from internal conflict would show the message better
    personally the ending that i would have done is the alliance failing to stop eren and most of them dying. the rumbling succeeds and the entire world is wiped out, but as eren returns he suffers from the guilt of killing all his friends and he realises that the new world he has created is literally a blank slate, devoid of life and anything, not like what was described in armin's book. in the future paradis suffers from internal conflict due to growing opposition to the yeagerists

    Understanding Ymir's complicated feelings about Fritz and his wishes and everything down the line involves understanding how abusive relationships work. Ymir had nothing, and when you have nothing and someone gives you a little piece food on a stick, you'll cling to it even if the person who gave it to you is a complete asshole. that little piece of food for her, was being given shelter, a home, and status, and even children, after spending her whole childhood as a slave. When youve been in desperate situations and just want some sort of validation and a place to call home, you'd get it. Fritz to her was his being who gave her SOMETHING and thats exactly what keeps her attached to their relationship even if its barely a real, worthy relationship.
    Ymir was a little girl that didnt know any better, and to her that was love - obviously to us its toxic, but like i said, she didnt know any better. we as viewers can see from a 3rd person perspective how he essentially used her and barely respected her, but to her she sees someone who lifted her out of poverty and praised her power as a titan. Fritz took advantage of her naivete and so even if she was miserable the whole time, she thought all of this was a good love. you gotta remember that love comes in all forms - sadly, even toxic ones. the whole point of her struggling so hard to get over this,is that that love she had for him was toxic - if she had the strength to let it go, she wouldnt be spending eons looking through Paths to find someone who could do what she couldnt do : realize the person she loved was TERRIBLE and put an end to that person's BS.
    This is the reason she takes a liking to mikasa. mikasa loves eren and we all know that he's treated her terribly but she clings to him. of course, Eren had more complicated reasons and motivations compared to Fritz; but Mikasa made the choice to do what was right (defy him and kill him) instead of what was selfish (confess her love and run away with him)
    if youve ever had a friend or loved one who kept getting back into their relationship with some shitty on and off ex (or maybe your friend WAS the shitty ex in the equation) its similar.

      Zeke touches on this when he talks with Armin in the Paths;
      When the parasite made contact with Ymir, she was powerless, drowning and terrified of dying. Her only wish in that moment was to escape death and her powerlessness, so the parasite granted her wish with a massive, immortal body and later on the ‘afterlife’ of the Paths.
      As far as why titans eat people, I’m pretty sure that stems from Fritz forcing Ymir’s daughters to eat her and creating this instinct in all titans that came after.

    I know that there were mixed reactions about the ending but honestly I hated it. Like I see what Isayama is going for and I understand that but I found the ending so predictable and stupid on how they basically copied the same ending as Code Geass having Eren and Lelouch hate the world they live in and then getting these insane powers and in the end, both of them become villian in the eye of the world and with their death, world becomes a happy place for awhile.
    Tbh If I were Isayama I would’ve gave it like a disney ending but also keeping some aspects of the ending the same like here me out.
    When The Rumbling marches forth from Paradis with the alliance tailing close behind. As the Titans reach the shores of Marley, the world has set into full panic. It's over, the world is over, there is no hope. The alliance battles along Eren's Spine, as they face against a super powered remote controlled Attack Titan, the OG Eren Titan. As the world hangs in the balance. But the Titans stop at the shores, and wait, one by one Colossal Titans reach the shores of all nations but rather than trample everything... The Titans bow... One by one... Before the entire world.... They prostrate themselves.
    Then we get a flashback of Uri prostrating before Kenny is shown
    Eren Yeager uses the founding Titan to apologize to the people of the world for the brutal history caused by the Eldian people, and wishes to protect his friends and familv and evervone from more death caused by Titans. Eren proceeds to wipe the power of the Titans away from the world, all the Collosals crumble. Depsite having the power to crush them, as Uri did Kenny, Eren chooses to repent and ask for mercy, and gives his enemies the chance to kill him if they wish. Eren accepts defeat and decides to follow Armin's way of maintaining peace. Just like Uri and Kenny became friends, the world would rejoice at witnessing the Titans vanish from this world and embrace peace with Eldians.
    Eren would end his fight with the alliance, "I didn't really want any of that! As much I love you guys, I had to pretend to be bad to protect y’all ." The war would end, and the ice burst crystal would usher forth a technological rennisance where people's needs were met, people loved long and good lives, and Paradis thrives as a cultural capital and a safeguard against brutality, violence and war. Atleast for the crimes he has committed, Eren would be imprisoned for a year and without his powers he can’t escape; however, Eren will be later be pardoned and gets freedom by Queen Historia and Armin who is now commander. Mikasa has been waiting for Eren this whole time and they finally accept their love for eachother. In the end, Armin becomes an ambassador for peace between Paradis and the outside world, using his intelligence for the common good while Eren would live out his days in isolation and live on a farm with Mikasa and as they both look at the beautiful sky, the anime concludes.

    I think people don't understand Eren. They saw him as a hero who was justified in committing genocide. In reality, they didn't follow Yam's perspective that what he did was truly evil. So since Eren is so macho, he can't cry over love.. people forget that Eren has never changed. He's so hot-headed and doesn't share key information.. he holds it all in but finally shares it with his best friend at the end because it would be the last time he would see him. This was all Eren's choice.. he didn't have to do it, but he chose to.

    I expected to hate the ending, but came away that it was a satisfying conclusion. I thought following what I’d heard from the manga it would be so so bad, which probably lowered my expectations, but i found myself liking it.
    Everything came full circle, for a show that was built around cycles of war it felt complete.
    Ymir loved Fritz, father to her children, king among men, she’s uneducated and in an abusive relationship no shock that she’s ‘trapped’ in her love. Just like Mikasa’s Ackerman trait has her trapped in her love Eren. In killing Eren, Mikasa was free to love Eren all on her own, and Ymir was free to love who she wanted (Not Fritz).
    So many passing comments through the show from Eren came full circle too.
    Then we end with the cycle of war continuing but also Paradis island growing as a society, technological advances and yes war war and war, but Eren allowed the island and his people the chance to fight the chance to be free. His friends lived long and happy lives (hopefully) and they became equals in the world around them, heroes even!
    Not the best ending, and years of cock teases and blue balls, but I’ll take it.

    I gave up on AOT after season 2. The show in my opinion doesn't have strong dynamic between its characters that keep my attention.
    The show is also way to intense and without the balance of calm and intensity the show gets exhausting to watch.
    I get this show is about survival and war, but doesn't mean you need to make so many moments feel like there a big shocking twist.
