Wow the ending 10 years of my life watching this show and now ill turn 20. Rest in peace all the souls that didn’t make it to the end of attack on titan.
hey there can you let me know what song you have used at 21:24 in the background I really like it but I am not able to find it since I dont know its name.
The scene with the humans falling off the cliff in their panic but still trying to save the baby despite the hopelessness of the situation got me bawling. No matter how harsh reality is, the desire of the current generation to do whatever it can for the next to live a better one, is the meaning of life.
Ymir needed to see Mikasa kill her love, the person she obeyed at all costs, and finally let him go. Mikasa was a mirror to Ymir. Mikasa did it, and so Ymir could too. It's implied all her headaches were Ymir peering though.
This is, of course, brilliant, the only problem is that we were told that in the path time does not move linearly and you see the future, past and present at the same time. Attention to the question: why should a person wait two thousand years for a specific event to happen in the PRESENT, if she should have already seen it in the FUTURE. And one more question: has not a single girl left a guy in these two thousand years in order to prove to Ymir that she is suffering from bullshit? Isayama is a genius if anyone didn't know
@@bursik9499the point was the similarity between the two. King Fritz, despite not being at shifter, had basically unlimited power at his disposal through Ymir. And Ymir couldn’t put the world before her love for him. Mikasa could do that. I think the other thing is, that no one else was in a actively trying to make as big of an impact as Fritz did and Eren. That’s just my theory though.
I thought this animation was very similar to Evangelion. And it is developing the narrative in exactly the opposite political direction I think this animation justifies fascism. So I don't agree with this animation's message. But I enjoyed watching it anyway🤷♂️ After ww2, Japan was limited in military power by the United States and became a lot of economic and social experimental sites. monetary policy, fiscal policy, quantitative easing etc.. So Japan served as a leading indicator for many capitalist Western countries. So, the meaning that the attack titan can see the future symbolizes Japan, which acts as an avant-garde for other countries The fact that they are leading the way does not mean that they can see the future, change or decide. That's why Eren said he was stupid at the end In the course of the experiment, Japan's traditional and family values collapsed, and society became depressed. The gloomy atmosphere of Japanese culture in the 1990s and 2000s arose after the collapse of the bubble economy in the 1980s Evangelion and AOT. Both animations are developing narratives based on Japanese society after the collapse of the bubble economy So I thought this was a significant message from Japan to Western society. And I didn't understand why Westerners like this. But the show was fun 🤷♀️ I think the meaning of rumbling is the return of state monopoly capitalism. Or national capitalism something like that. And I don't think Western liberal civil society is prepared for such fascism The expansion of capitalism leads to imperialism. And imperialism calls big wars. Reset and start over. So only innocent young people died in ww1 and ww2 🤷 And AOT's narrative justifies that cycle of capitalism End of Evangelion tried to end it. That is the difference between the two animations.
I took the young child and the dog finding the tree to mean that while yes-the cycle does begin again...but how things can be different under different circumstances. Ymir found that tree trying to flee from the attackers of her village and fleeing from dogs. This child finds it just exploring, with a dog guiding them. The hope remains, that things CAN be different. This series has meant so much to me over the last decade, and you have done an amazing job covering it.
to me, the ending of the child and his dog approaching the tree gives hope for a better outcome than what Ymir and Eren went through, both sought the same thing: freedom Ymir came from a time of oppression and persecution. Eren came from a time of war, madness, and violence. This child came from a time to which us, the audience, is a period of uncertainty since we dont know what was the state of the world
@@primecoconut4204 Totally agree, and as uncertain it is with the child, looking at the state of the world as he steps in, it could mean at the very least, the power to rebuild
Guys you must understand true freedom doesn’t exist, if everyone is free then everyone is equally not free. The only thing in this world that is constant is death and power. Until and unless there are human beings these 2 are absolute they can never not exist.
@@Shafiksz true, that boy could and probably will abuse the power of titans, causing hatred between people again and restarting the cycle much like Karl Fritz situation
Shouldnt regret this bro. Ive started watching Attack on Titan when i was 13... Im now 23 years old. Wish i would have just started watching so the ending wouldnt hurt as much.
The conversation between Zeke and Armin really resonated with me. Life is pointless, but we still find happiness in living. And even though the cycle of fighting may be destined to repeat and we may destroy each other, we should remember the things that brought us happiness while we're in this life.
The whole point of life really is to push through all the shitty times to get to that happiness. You only know how to feel so sad because you’ve felt the opposite. Life is mostly shitty but when it’s not, it’s beautiful.
I don't think it was Eren who got rid of all Titans. If he had that power, I think he would've found a different solution. The reason the titans are gone is because Ymir can finally let go and move on after seeing the strength Mikasa had (that she doesn't, but wishes she did) to kill the one she loves the most. Ymir has been trying to connect to Mikasa the entire show, and Eren had to be pushed so far that Mikasa was forced to end his life for Ymir to get the strength to pass on. I think that Ymir was the true manipulator, using Eren to free her and Mikasa to show her letting go is possible. Which makes Eren's feeling of there is no other way, even though he truly doesn't want to commit genocide, all the more heartbreaking.
@@wg6276 that's true. I understood his main goal to be getting rid of all titans, if he simply had the ability to do that with the founder's power I don't think he would've used the rumbling.
The fact this is ending in real time when war rages on from countries with previous conflicts is really hitting knowing that history will always repeat itself. Truly an amazing anime.
But some toxic fan hate ending because of such nonsense reason like Eren confessing his inner feeling for Mikasa . Like how a man who is about to dying has no right to release it's emotion .
@@SpoonLegend If you really think about it, all lessons have already been learned. We humans just forget the lessons because we become complacent once we (re)learn them, expecting the next generation to just know them because we know them. The lessons get forgotten eventually because they're never explicitly taught, just implicitly applied. But if the lessons are never truly understood by those who didn't have to learn them the hard way then we must eventually go through the process of (re)learning them again, the hard way. It's basically the "hard times, strong men" etc phrase.
4:19 I believe Jean and Conny were talking about burning the bodies of those lost after Trost not the suicide charge. Trost was when they decided to join the Scouts and Conny blamed Jean for inspiring all of them to save the world. It was a touching call back. Great video
Yeah, the person who made the video made a lot of simple mistakes. This and saying eren returned all the pure titans back to humans is just not true. It wasn't Eren who did that. Otherwise, it's a decent video.
People seem to have completely forgotten the hopelessness that Eren felt at the Tybur's global meeting, hearing the world leaders cheer the idea of wiping Paradis off the face of the Earth and only attacking at that exact moment; there was no other choice, either the world died or they did.
I think the post credit scenes delicts a new cycle of attack on titan. The boy walking into the tree must be similar to the founder Ymir. This scene is almost identical to the scene of Ymir walking into the tree and getting the power of titans from that parasite. If that is true, there must have been someone similar to Eren in the past, who tried to change the world but failed to do so and got buried by a loved one like Mikasa. After that, that someone must have been morphed into a parasite (the original powerful form of titan) and Ymir must have gained her powers by the parasite. This shows that humanity can never live by without fighting and decimating each other, and how insignificant their (Eren's) will to change that is. I wonder if the Boy and the Dog both become founders and some new altered version of Titans come to being in which pet owners have an advantage. If my theory is correct, then Eren must be alive in the paths.
@@whoreslayer probably, it's reflective of how humanity never learns, whenever we have a period of peace, we just go back to war, we can't help it, it's in our nature to be selfish and fight for what little we have
10 years of this astonishing anime. ❤ watched it when I was 13 and now I'm 23... it's insane how many things have happened throughout these 10 years. Thank you AoT for being a part of my childhood ❤
Yep, my friend introduced me to attack on titan back in 2014-15 when I was 11-12 and finally saw the end of it yesterday, 2 weeks before I turn 21🎉. I grew up with the characters of attack on titan and I think the story of attack on titan is what shaped me to be who I am now.
I honestly can’t believe it’s over. I got old watching this, from 17, now 27. It feels like Attack on Titan was a part of me. Despite knowing how it was likely to end, I wished that Eren had his happy ending. Everyone called him a villain but it was clear that the sacrifice that he made was bigger than anyone could understand. Not only would he be forever seen as possibly the biggest genocidal maniac in all of history, he would eventually be forgotten. He saw the past and the future, he saw different outcomes with his own eyes and in the end, he wanted to uphold peace for as long as possible, even if he knew such peace would not be eternal. The ending where we see that perhaps everything will repeat again and Titans will come back, maybe the memories of Eren will serve as a warning for the future humanity. Or maybe not. Human nature is indeed a pesky thing.
You're right. The story and philosophy of AoT turned out to be waaaay more deeper than any of us realised. It showed only a brief glimps of humanity's timeline. No matter what conflict seems relevant in the present, in the grand scale of things, all is forgottent and relived. I also feel that maybe Ymir went through the same thing. And maybe someone else before her. To her, the sacrifices she had to make maybe were the only way she could have attained any sort of peace, given her time and circumstance. I guess, maybe it's actually the story of peace makers and their limited role in extending the durations humans have between conflict. If you look at it from that perspective, the weight of sustaning an entire species has been on a chosen few. Like I said, reeeeaally deep. Truly one of the greatest stories of all time.
I recommend everyone do a rewatch of the series. It’s so different with the added context, and pretty cool to see stuff in the earlier episodes deliberately line up.
@@lonelynights5393Eren is connected to all eldians from paradis. Living there for centuries, even ackermans and asians have most likely bred with subjects of ymir. 2. Eren visited Armin's mind when he was on the ship, then erased that memory. Eren visited everyone. That's why when eren died, mikasa said "you remember now too dont you?", and everyone else remembered too. 3. All past and future already exist in Eren's mind. He can see all of it. Everything is already set. He knew Sasha would die. He knew that eldian pickpocket kid would die. He even let his mother to die, even said he was responsible for her death. But it is the only path to save the friends that would remain. 4. Yes, Ymir (not the founder) loves historia, but who the heck cares what she's thinking?
the truest sign of good art/ literature/cinema / anything, the ability to look at it again , with new information, and gain a whole new appreciation of it. im proud of aot for the end where it didnt get nihilistic as much as "i have to become the villain so the world can finally unite" and almost exploring how hard it would be to realize you must be the bad guy , to save the world almost.....and how he realizes it ....again.....anything that can drive that much debate or commentary is a sign of good work
In the manga the conversation with Armin, at the end, was poorly written, and because of this there was a sour taste in people's mouth; thankfully the anime fixes this.@@pearljaime2
The ending where we see how Paradis Island changes over time feels weird as it changes from a show about fighting Titans to showing humanity developing and ultimately destroying (basically turning from a fantasy into sci-fi)
8:10 the bird that flies over them is Falco, as Eren's face reverts and Mikasa returns to her timeline/ home reality. You can tell by the massive wingspan's shadow across the ground's surface.
The scene where Erwin and Hanje appear in front of Levie got me so emotional. Then cuts to Levie doing the salute, alone. It was a very impactful scene. Same goes when Sasha appears before Connie. Also the toe to toe fist fight between Armin and Eren...
I think Connie and Jean talking about burning of the bodies refers to the funeral after blocking Trost district with a boulder, not Erwin's charge. It's there where Jean makes his point about joining the Scouts, that is why Connie tells him that it's his fault they are stuck with this shitty job of saving the world. Because it was there Jean convinced him to join Scouts instead of MPs.
Ending explained ok yeah it’s a shit ending that only aot meatriders like, eren legit died a bitch how you gonna cry over your literal sister not loving you after years, and then he says he doesn’t wanna die even tho that’s his one of two plans And then he calls himself a idiot yet years later paradis gets bombed so it’s obvious he was right Can’t believe Floch died for this
The fact that this show was able to represent human condition and the never ending cycle of war so damn well, in times where the world could go to shit at any moment, is nothing short of beautiful yet devastatingly tragic... and I'm happy i was here for the last 9 years to see it.
I didn’t get the impression “war will always exist.” It gave me the impression war SHOULDN’T exist, unless we are to romanticize Eren’s genocidal regrets. I got the impression that almost all evil comes from religion. Notice the entire show was about “Island devils” and people wanting to be the kinfolk of a supreme being so they didn’t have to view the world around them as equal, and just like our world, men led the charge in failing to control their emotions to the expense of a baby wrapped in red being passed beside the edge of the earths sympathy.
@@lazar3980 After ww1, there was ww2, after that we had numerous fucked up wars. Does that mean humanity shouldn’t have stopped nazis? The earth will be destroyed in far away future due to sun exploding, does that mean we all should do nothing and not enjoy life or fight for what is dear to us? People like you truly act like a 12 year old. Also, the point isn’t to idolise Eren, even his friends never wanted that. Eren saying he did it for his friends is his excuse or “justification” to hide his inner nature of levelling everything, precisely because he is a slave to freedom aka The attack titan.
And he was the one preaching about ending the hate and prejudice if they ever made it out of that situation literal moments before. The irony is insane
Tbf, he didn't have context. All he knows is that the people he just began to trust all turned into titans and almost killed him. He could have just slaughtered all of them but he held off until he was certain that transformation wasn't a sign of aggression. And once Armin explained, he let them go, obviously. @@Yixuidhalbh
This take is both unfair and inaccurate. The secretary was genuinely willing to give them a chance, as evidenced by both his speech and emptying his gun (his own method of self-defense) into the ground despite just receiving Marleyan reinforcements in a flanking position against the refugees. From his perspective, basically the second he offered peace, they turned into man-eating monsters who tried to keep the fight going, so his asking for confirmation that that shit isn’t going to happen again is entirely reasonable, and he even accepts Armin’s argument instead of shooting them as he easily could have.
Been watching this since the day it aired and still can’t believe it’s been 10 years already. This episode left me feeling deep regret and sadness knowing Eren couldn’t stop what was going to happen. In least he was able to finally rest knowing his friends and loved ones would live a long peaceful life. Saw this when I was 21 and I’m 31 now. Thank you for the journey AOT. 🙏🏼🕊️
I was 18 now I'm 28 😮, I enjoyed every bit of it, seeing him in those last scenes with Armin made me just sad, realising he's just a idiot playing the role of a monster to save his family 😢
I don’t think Jean and Connie were talking about burying the bodies from the return to shiganshina suicide charge. I think they were talking about the burning of the bodies after the battle for Trost which is what made all of those cadets in the 104 decide to become Scouts
Since the seasons were so spread out, I would always forget key details and storylines, but this explanation you gave us is a masterpiece. Thank you man 🙏🏼
What Armin told Zeke reminded me of the time I was holding my 1 year old boy at night to make him fall asleep. I held him and started crying because I wished that moment could last forever. It was something I did everyday but in that moment there was nothing more important than me hugging my baby.
These are the moments worth living for, perhaps the only reason we're even here. Life is much simpler without ambition to Empire, hugging babies or petting squirrels is why we're here.
Its sad how many people have downvoted the last episode, my dad and I watched the finale together and we thoroughly enjoyed it (the baby scene was especially heartbreaking)
Tbh i kinda feel like the ending was mad realistic. I mean the whole series is a political thriller showing that even after there was somewhat peace once again humans will always make the same mistakes. I mess with it .
Of all the times I have rewatched the series I always remember the conversation between pixix and Erwin when they talk about how humanity would never stop fighting until there's only one human left
After all these years, we finally see Eren do it. He killed all the titans. Erased them all from the world. It costed everything he loved and himself. But damn he did it. I'll never forget such a beautiful story.
It made the most sense, in the end. Eren had hopes and dreams like everyone else. He was a prisoner of fate, and a ended up a slave to his own pursuit of freedom, ironically. Chad Eren was just a front he put on for the Jaegerists. The frightened boy and tragic human being who confesses his love for Mikasa and Armin was the real sad Eren, and that made him more believable to me.
I think that the child and his dog at the end kinda means that people with the same situations tend to come to the same conclusions. Just like Ymir and Eren wanted power that would help them fight off their oppressors or better their situations, every generation will circle back to the same conclusion when faced with the same challenges, thinking that that’s the solution to humanity’s problems. But just as we’ve all witnessed, as long humans coexist conflicts will never cease. Because we create our own problems that ends up killing us and restarting the cycle of violence again. And I also think that maybe that’s why Eren cried when telling Armin how messed up his head was because he could see an infinite amount of past, present and future. Because no matter how much he tried to come up with a solution that completely ended the cycle of violence, he just couldn’t. Everything just kept cycling back. The endless amount of past he saw might have showed him how repetitive history is and his present might’ve proved to him how ignorant we are and the endless future might’ve showed him how insignificant his actions would be in a long run but it would at least ensure enough freedom for a few generations. Maybe that’s why it kinda took a while before the cycle of violence repeated. Or maybe not 😅😅 but all in all it was an incredible piece of work and I’m happy to have been part of it. ❤❤❤
It’s a story about people trapped in a cycle of doing terrible things and sacrificing their humanity to protect the ones they love, which was finally (for a time) broken by someone willing to sacrifice the one they love for the sake of humanity. Absolutely brilliant.
@codstuff575 You realise that ending sequence of the tree in Paradis advancing into the future takes place over 20,000 years right? Listen to the lyrics of the Linked Horizon song playing over it. They literally got thousands of years of peace.
@@FatMonkeyUKbut why would you think they got peace? Even without the titans humanity still would have developed weapons which could destroy the whole world.
It's about a little bit more than that. It's about people who understood what Hell on Earth was like choosing it again because they saw that a "final solution" is no solution at all, all in the hopes that something better was at the end of the tunnel. It's about how humanity will always be in conflict, and we can either end that conflict at the cost of our humanity, or we can embrace our humanity in hopes that children in the future can enjoy even one more moment of peace.
@@danketsu-seyo they got peace during the span of their lifetime and were able to live long lives, that's eren's only goal. But you are right, humanity's hubris knows no bounds, and ended up destroying themselves.
I discovered AoT back in 2013 when episode 2 dropped. The wait for S2 was gruelling but I never imagined 10 years later we would finally see this Anime end. One of the greatest shows ever released. 10/10 would definitely recommend
Read the ending back in 2021. Felt really “meh” about it back then, but the anime did a fantastic job of selling the emotional cues that I felt isayama fell short of completely describing. No shade to the author, I just think anime has the advantage with the great voice acting and soundtrack with better pacing too
When Mikasa finally talks to ymir at the end it shows a clip of king fritz being assassinated while Ymir comforts her children. I believe she sent her memory of Mikasa killing Eren to her past and ended the curse. I also think there is a multiverse in all of this thus why this doesn't change their universe but it will change another universe as eren says he tested different realities but they all converge to the same outcome. Also further supported when ymir shows Mikasa a different timeline where she confessed her love to Eren and they lived his remaining 4 years in a cabin. There's an infinite number of universes for every action that could've been different and we just so happened to witness this universes version. I believe there's a universe where Mikasa and Eren do get their fairytale ending whether if it be from ymir ending the curse and letting king fritz be assassinated or from a different course of actions that brings peace to their world without mass genocide or war. And this is all I need to get my closure from that ending haha
Kind of like the avengers, when Dr. Strange saw all the different outcomes, but chose the one that led to solace. Even if it meant sacrificing people along the way.
Truly a special anime and can’t believe it’s done. 10 years ago from 16-26 years old and this show still hits the same from when I was much younger. This show conveys so much action and mixes in endearing moments and emotions.
started when i was 11 years old now im 21 :'')) i'm grateful to have an older brother who loves anime and got me to watch aot as a child otherwise i wouldn't have had this experience. it's weird that it's over now because for years i would always wait for new seasons. now it's done, it's finished, it still feels weird to me.
This was more than a show to me. I've never been attached to something like this before. It honestly feels like the end of this show and the deaths of the characters actually happened in real life. Also the show being 10 years long lasted from when I got out of highschool until being 29 years old! So I also grew with this show. Lastly AOT may be a dark anime but there's alot of things in the series that in today's society are difficult to find like a true connection between friends or a significant other and a real purpose something beyond the bullshit 9-5. This show actually feels more real than life.
The phrase “living long enough to see yourself become the villain” hits so hard and so perfectly for AoT, especially after seeing the pieces come together with the ending
Watched this series anytime I get into a depressed state , it reminds me how cruel life can be but at the same time teaching you how to see the beauty it life
Eren went from "I will kill all titans!" to "I will control all titans" and eventually, "I will eradicate all titans." He had a tough cycle to go through.
this episode hit me HARD, i've never cried harder in my life, and it makes me realize how awful this world really is. attack on titan will always have a special place in my heart
@@zinkarius7 the ending was good. it just wasn't the typical evil wins or everyone wins most animes play out. it's more like the ending of the watchmen with ozymandias causing a single strike that focuses everyones hate on the Dr Manhattan . a single foe that becomes the enemy of the world
Lol, then the world isn't cruel, eren, or rather the true mastermind, ymir is. If eren was truly free, he would have just ended the 13 year titan curse and restored the eldian empire to it's former glory. Take all the brilliant scientist and create a thriving country. As long as historia's queen and eren, the founder backs her, people won't be slaves or mistreated under their rule.
I'm so glad they literally changed Mikasa's face in the anime to match how Eren sees her in the end of the manga. It's just beautiful. A story I'm never going to forget. I cried so much eventhough I knew what was going to happen.
@@leavemealone854they don't draw her exactly as we see her on the manga, they got their own style (both MAPPA and WIT) but they intentionally used the same panel that we can see on the last chapter of the manga! :)
I really liked the ending but I have a different interpretation of the final scene. Seeing the child find the opening to the tree similar to how ymir did really made me feel like Eren became the centipede thing that ymir found and that the cycle of titans would begin again. I mean the creator clearly made the opening of Erens tree look like Ymirs tree intentionally. It also begs the question of how many cycles of titans there has been I mean just because Ymir is the first we see in the story doesn’t mean she was the first ever. It could be she was just the latest at that time to discover the power after countless advanced civilizations wiped each other out and restarted just like we see in the final scenes of the series. This is however my interpretation and to me makes the most sense.
Man I will really miss this show, seeing 'The End' instead of 'To be continued' was really a Bittersweet moment for me. Glad I was able to finish this show ; )
21:57-I actually heard that the futuristic city shown in the epilogue was meant to show that centuries had passed since the events of the story, not decades. So, Paradis had a long time to live in peace.
It’s gotta be hundred of years. No way that civilization in Paradis got that advanced in decades, let alone all the world catching up in military prowess after 80% of them got wiped out.
The whole ending arc to this series had me really upset and it took me a while to piece together why. Turns out I really don't like tragedies and was too caught up in the sci-fi action/adventure/romance aspects of the plot to realize that was exactly what the story was. So this series ended up tearing me up a bit, and the after credits scene was profound but also came across as a nihilistic gutpunch that left me reeling.
Even though AOT is over, this last episode hit me on a person level because our story isn’t over. We see what’s going on all over the world, in that sense it’s very relatable and the show left us with a really powerful message we should carry with us for at least our lifetimes.
That message has already been around probably since ancient times. Karl Marx, the father of communism is attributed to saying that. But I know for a fact those World War 1 veterans seeing us plunge into an even deadlier World War just 20 years later uttered the same words.
I cried the entire episode. AOT is more than just an anime, it’s a story of love and tragedy. It’s a story of the human psyche and condition. Much like Sea Tatics stated, war never stops, it never changes. Eren knew this, but he also knew he had to do something to bring peace for a brief period for all he loved. AOT is a beautifully written story, a story that I have not seen in anime before or since. It’s been an honor watching this series with all of you, and it’s been an honor to watch these recap videos. See you later, Eren. ❤🕊️
I cried the whole episode. 10/10 Genuinely a masterpiece in storytelling and my all time favorite show. Didn't think I'd tear up AGAIN at your video. Even though I only got into AoT around 11 months ago, this series truly changed my life. I will rewatch this show, tell stories of this show, and remember this show for the rest of my life. This isn't goodbye, more so a "See you later." 🕊
It's not a 10/10 more like a 9/10 the ending was good but did not live up to the series, I mean Eren committed genocide cause he felt like it and bc he was a idiot with powers, and my god I don't even remember a single time Eren had romantic feeling towards Mikasa so it was stupid when I saw him crying over her, and it felt way too similar to the way Code Geass ended.
I've been watching since the release of episode 4 in may 2013. It's been a crazy ride but I'm gonna be honest I also picked up the manga while waiting 3 years for season 2 and I knew the ending and so I've been pretty disconnected from AoT. Animation was awesome and the soundtrack too but yeah. The ending is.. not that good.
Your speech at the end made me immediately subscribe. This is the first video I've watched on your channel, but definitely not the last! As the scouts say, "dedicate your heart" and you did just that. Thank you :')
I started this anime when I was 19. I am 29 now and I am so happy to have experienced such masterful storytelling since the beginning. Goodbye Ereh.....Goodbye AOT
These last few chapters had me weeping the entire time. Attack on Titan has one of the best story lines in an anime that I’ve ever seen. I’m so sad that the show is over, but i had a feeling the show would end the way it would. masterpiece 💔
Exactly. Aot has one of the most bland stories ever written, were marley îs just a one dimensional evil nation who wants to conquer, no wonder all The edgy kids route for eren to destroy them. What othe option there îs? Aot really failed at delivering complex villains
The entire point of AoT was that there was no real villain, just different views and agendas people were fighting for. That's why Eren chose to become the main villain to unite everyone together by fighting the common enemy. Even tho he knew that the humanity will eventually do the same thing with wars continuing over and over, at least he wanted for his friends to live a peaceful life in the "time of piece". The ending credits also showed that what he saw was true, the human nature would always find a way to make war and life will always find its meaning. Therefore Eren is the real hero, well, an antihero and one of the most interesting characters ever written.
It was a useless anime. Been watching since episode one and have never been so disappointed after I invested years into it. Erin and Mikasa get the happy ending robbed from them, none of what happens matters since they invent nukes. All useless.
@@nikothehero799 well i know what you mean, but this kind of ending was expected from an anime such as Attack on titan. It was always sad and painful. The nukes only show that human nature will always find a way to make a war with each other, not because of the titans.
@@Shadow6212 I agree. The point is nihilistic. But a truly happy.. Truly satisfying moment would be to just give us eren and Mikasa.. Something I had been looking for since I was a teenager..... But no.... In the hundreds of years shown in the anime we realize we just bomb each other.. So eff everything. It doesn't matter? Lol? Eff the titans.... Eren sacrificed himself for nothing? Dam it, just give us eren and Mikasa if it's all for sht anyway!
Even if you think that you're back to your irrelevant self, what you left for us will never be forgotten- thank you for explaining this masterpiece with your heart!
Great video man, just one correction at 4:20 Jean and Connie were talking about the day that they burned Marco's body. That was the moment Jean took the decision to *dedicate his heart to the scouts*. This resolve and change motivated Sasha and Connie to also choose the scouts.
Yeah that was a huge turning point for Jean in season one. Burning the bodies of his comrades and not even knowing whose bones he was seeing. That’s definitely what they are talking about.
Started watching AOT in 2015 with my 12 year old and just finished it together with him now as a 20 year old. Whilst he also owns the manga I made myself wait over the years to watch the ending with no spoilers and boy did I cry! Such a powerful story that is now a huge part of our family memories 😊thank you to Hajime Isayama for giving us this journey!
it's never that serious lol. Obviously Ymir was under the control of that damn thing, so she wasn't able to think clearly. Look at her eyes, and then look at her eyes again when Mikassa talks to her. They're 2 different Ymirs. You're not a damn reviewer, so stfu @@lonelynights5393

Attack on Titan was my first anime ever. I lost touch of it a few years back and I’m glad I got to witness it in its entirety afterwards. I will never forget this story, its beauty is undeniable. Thank you Isayama
The reason he laughed when Sasha died was probably due to his 'moving forward' and his quest to save his friend. He's been on the path multiple time or probably peering this path countless of time and found out Sasha's answer before she died was the 'only' constant.
It's really crazy to think this show is over 10 years old now. I remember watching the first season in late 2013, and ended up becoming a manga reader probably around the Kenny arc since I didn't want to wait years for Season 2 back then. Now that it's all over, I only feel empty now... I'll miss AOT very much.
I don't think the "flashback" with Mikasa and Eren was some "alternate timeline" or reality. Nor was the memory with Armin. Based off what is said in the conversation with Armin I took it as these were memories of conversations that happened which came back when Eren died. He had the conversation with Armin in the paths when he almost died on the boat and likely had the conversation with Mikasa but then held back that memory from her so that she would hate him enough to kill him. It seemed to me that prior to Eren truly setting off down the path of the rumbling he went to each of his friends and confessed certain things to them which he then made them forget so they would be willing to stop him. Maybe I'm misreading that but it doesn't make much sense for there to be "alternate" timelines. To me it makes more sense that they really happened.
It's not so much an alternate timeline, just a time outside of time. In "the paths" time works differently. 4 seconds could equate to 4 years, which is the time Eren and Mikasa spent together. It happened, as he holds a lot of power in "the paths". It's just a different place, where they had more time together.
@@SavedCurls7 that's a plausible explanation. I thought it actually took place before season 4 but after rewatching and rereading there are those specific quotes about the war with the Marleyeans that still confuse me. It does seem to be some kind of alternative time. It just more sense in my understanding of people's "memories" coming back that it really happened. Perhaps like you said Eren brought Mikasa into the Paths and that's where they experienced this "memory" like he did with Armin. I was just under the assumption that Armin had his conversation with Eren in the paths because he almost died on the boat. I suppose there's no reason Eren couldn't have pulled Mikasa into the Paths though.
Eren took them all into the paths at different times during the Rumbling but wiped their memories so that they would still kill him, and his death brought the memories back. Because Mikasa is an Ackermann, she can't have her memory wiped so he waited until right before she killed him to take her into the paths, and then again just as he died.
@@snaredrum5167 that's a really good point about Mikasa not being able to have her memories wiped because she's an Ackerman. Your theory about it happening right before she killed him is likely spot on.
I cried for an hour. I started watching AOT in 2014. I remember anime expo being only the scout cosplay. Now i have my apartment, and car note and child. So much has changed but life moves on and i liked how they touched on that while the credits were rolling. How paradis thrived then, war and how all our characters stayed moved forward. The kid at the end was a nice touch because if there is one universal truth is that history repeats itself.
@chrilmill2964 I think so my friend, friend? You probably a distant relative of mine from the eldian days😂😂😂 We await yet another discovery of the founder. Imagine if we were in the same universe as if life isn't already hard.
The one thing i have not seen many or any mention is the similarities in the scenes of Armin stepping in between the conflicts when they have people pointing guns at them questioning their motives. Its an almost identical comparison to back in season 1 when Eren was being questioned at gunpoint if he was either a human or titan by a petrified squad leader fearing for their lives after seing Eren transform. Just like in this ending Armin removes his odm gear and weapons as he steps in between the two groups trying to rationalize and explain the situation while the main lead of the opposite side is requesting immediate proof right then and there of their intentions. Armin is no doubt a top notch negotiator thanks to Eren believing in him and jus like Hange stated; a bright mind continously persuing understanding which no doubt may not fully surpass Erwin's at that point but he is without a doubt one of the best in that regard. To listen and understand all sides and come to a conclusion that affects all parties is an absolutely heavy responsibility that he has done very well with up to this point. Just wish we couldve seen him more in that leader type roll within the show from like; the timeskip from season 3-4 and even after. The ending credit scenes mainly show Mikasa's interactions but it would be nice to see the political aspects of Ambassator Armin Arlert shown torwards the end 😊
Armin isn't an ambassador of jack shit. Paradis got carpet bombed, he didn't talk his way out of it like Eren believed he would (and like they promised each other in the manga).
@@hightetrisbeatboxrevived1648 you’re aware that the eventual destruction of Eldia definitely happens LONG after death right? Sounds like he negotiated a lot during his lifetime.
@@rasengan124 Like 50 years max. If anything it shows that just like Eren said in the manga "they won't be able to retaliate immediately" and that the outside world didn't forget about what Eren did to them. It's less likely he was able to negotiate and more likely that they just weren't able to do anything to Paradis.
@@hightetrisbeatboxrevived1648 The ending song literally says 20,000 years in the future, so I think it was more than enough time. We don't even know what the new war was about.
What a time to be alive. Just witnessed a masterpiece come to an end. So glad that the makers didn’t change the ending and kept it the way it is. This anime will always have a special place in my heart.
Masterpiece? This was one of the worst endings i have seen, with more plotholes than the last season of GoT. If i want a "It was all according to my plan to become the main villian" - storyline, i watch Code Geass.

@@zelgius3421, I advise you to rewatch the last episode so you will understand Eren’s true motivations and desires. Bringing long and peaceful life to his friends wasn’t his main desire. He did what he did just because he wanted that. He is a capricious child who just wanted to get what he wanted. He tried to persuade himself that he was doing all these things for his friends but that wasn’t true and he admitted it. He didn’t try to bring peace to world. He knew it wouldn’t happen. But he could at least bring that peace to his friends and buy some time for them to live as they wanted. Eren wanted to become free and freedom for him was equal to human annihilation. It was his main desire, not becoming villain for the world to people come together and take him down.
A couple points: 1, Historia can't continue Eren's rumbling, it has to be a royal blood "titan", not any royal blood. In the past, Historia and her father can activate Eren's memory ability, but for true power of the coordinates, only Dina Fritz and Zeke. That's why Eren is not willing to sacrifice Historia, turning her into a titan, plus people inside walls didn't have extra titan injections until very late in story. 2, It's not Eren's final action that made titan power vanish from this world. It was Ymir's last action, Eren basically enlightened her through Mikasa's example, that's it's Ok for Ymir to give up love, give up immortality, and give up 2000 years of services. Titan power vanished along with Ymir herself, until the Hallucinate creature find another host some a hundred years later. Besides Eren, King Karl Fritz and Zeke had their own plans to break the cycle, more suicidal approach, and that doesn't make Zeke less of a jerk.
Thank you! I was so confused when they mentioned Eren made all the titans disappear. If that was the case, then he could have done that long back. Makes sense that Ymir was the one to release all the titans.
@@gliscorX Yes it was ymir who made the titans disappear - in act that she does not need to carry out king fritz's order anymore of having titan destruction around. She was set free by mikasa's action.
I began watching it back in 2013 when it was a series still unfolding, and I've kept up with it through all these years. And now, having reached the end, I'm struck by a profound sense of emptiness. The tears haven't been many, but the experience is undeniably bittersweet and filled with a lingering melancholy. Right now, words fail to capture the complexity of my feelings. I am caught between not feeling joyous nor sorrowful. This indescribable feeling that envelops me, this emptiness that fills me, what is its nature? The finale has echoes of Code Geass, but the impact of Attack on Titan resonates on a much deeper level for me. It's as if a significant phase of my own life has drawn to a close as I've watched these characters reach the end of their journeys. Letting go of them feels almost impossibly hard. Each nostalgic, tragic, and soul-stirring scene that was depicted has left a lasting mark, but what truly weighs on me is the future. Even though they experienced happiness, grew old, and met peaceful ends, there's a sorrow in acknowledging that their time has passed and with it, a piece of the world they shared with Eren. This portrayal of the future invokes a profound existential reflection. Consider the countless existences and narratives that have dissolved into the annals of history, with Eren and his comrades now amongst the forgotten. Entire generations who lived, loved, and suffered are now just echoes in the ruins or foundations they left behind. Their personal histories, like those of our cherished characters, will likely vanish, their names and tales becoming mere whispers that the winds of time fail to carry forward. it adds a layer of heartbreaking feeling to their story-knowing that their time with him was limited to less than 15 years, depending on who it was. Just a brief chapter in the entirety of their new long lives. It's heartbreaking to consider that as time passed, the vividness of his face and voice might have faded even in Mikasa's memories, making it seem as if he were becoming more of a distant dream than a reality they once lived. This brief intersection of lives in the grand tapestry of their world makes the end that much more impactful. The happy scenes of their childhood, bring a stark, aching clarity to the fleeting nature of their relationships, and the realization that the moments we often take for granted are, in fact, incredibly finite and precious. Eren wanted his close friends to cherish these moments and create even more in a new world, that he created for them... Reflecting on Eren, his break down was a biggest surprise to me in this ending. Realizing that he was, in essence, still just a naive 19 year old struggling to find a solution, he just couldn't find a better way to resolve all of this mess. People may have found his emotional breakdowns funny, but these moments actually reveal the enormous burden he carried as an ordinary individual compelled to make extraordinary sacrifices for the sake of his friends' futures. It underscores the depth of his character and the immense pressure he faced in his quest to secure a brighter reality for those he cared about. He sacrificed whole world for them, but they chose to safe the world over him.. In the final episodes dialogues between Armin and Zeke, they touch upon their most personal memories, happiness, and raise similar questions that become a kind of answer to the search for the meaning of life and all the efforts they made. For them, to have lived was not in vain, if only for such moments. Their lives held meaning, even if only for those simple memories. Eren is ready to endlessly destroy humanity in these cycles, all for the happiness of Mikasa and Armin. And what was most touching to me, is that his happiness is just as simple, and it lies in the happiness of those he loves.. This is a tragic story of a ordinary boy trapped by the inherent vices of human nature, compelled to engage in the very act-war-that humanity perpetually initiates. His story is a somber illustration of the cycle of violence that often defines human history and the individual lives caught in its tumultuous waves. Perhaps wars are an inevitable fate of the human race, similarly to how Eren's destiny will never allow him to connect with his friends. This is a tale of the sorrow of fate, where Eren falls into its terrible captivity. A tragedy that leads us through the thorns of fate, where the hero becomes hostage to a false freedom, it becomes his burden, and the meaning of his existence intertwines with the purpose of freeing Ymir from her chains. The greatest sadness of this story is not found in the military horrors, but in the relentless fact of fate: Eren and his loved ones are destined to become victims of eternal separation. Especially Mikasa. They are fated to remain apart, even in the afterlife - if such a place exists, Eren is destined for hell.. Fate denies them the joy of a simple life under the same sky.
It made me think of Code Geass as well. The self-sacrifice for peace. Even though Lelouch had more free will than Erin had with his predestination scenario.
Been waiting 10 WHOLE years! Almost half my life, literally. Started watched when i was 13, I’m 23 now. I love this show and its deepest meanings. Its foreshadowing/rewatch value is insane. I got my partner to watch it with me earlier this year and we just finished it together. I was CRYING! Amazing. My applause to MAPPA and WITT, as well as all the crew and VAs that made this show. It was amazing.
I'm sorry bro. But the body burning reference was from season 1 when jean, Connie, Sasha and the rest burned Marco and everyone elses body who died in the trost attack. They're always calling back to that because they all promised to fix the world that took them from it, realizing as time goes on that a promise of that magnitude was impossible to keep.
You missed this: The giant tree at the end looks identical to the one seen during Ymir’s backstory. It is same tree that the Hallucigenia (founding titan, source of all life itself) was underneath two thousand years ago. The modern tree is the one where Eren used to sit as a child, it is also his final resting place. Now because he was buried there and because the tree grew incredibly tall, like unnaturally means that the founding titan, Hallucigenia or well life lives on! What is presumably Mikasa’s grandchild or even great grandchild stumbles upon this tree and if the child were to walk in, the cycle would repeat itself. A new Ymir is born. So the tree represents the cycle of revenge and bloodshed that seemingly was broken piecing itself back together.
Ymir and the boy are coming from two completely different situations. Nothing to suggest the cycle would start again since the boy was just exploring with his dog while Ymir was a slave trying to escape death
I think the problem a lot of people have with the ending is the fact that Eldia is attacked in the future due to Eren not completing 100% of the Rumbling. However, the author’s intent was to demonstrate that no matter what, humanity will always fight against each other. Hypothetically speaking, even if Eren did complete the Rumbiling and only Eldians exist, they would eventually find a reason to fight in a long enough timeline. The case that Eldians fighting Eldians is better than the world fighting Eldians makes no sense. At the end of the day, people will always fight people regardless of their shared or unshared blood/ancestry. The point of Attack on Titan is to show the viewers that humanity will always fight itself - whether it be by difference of race or not. The world is cruel and no Rumbiling could ever stop human hate from propagating itself again in the future. We can see it with our world today, there’s been two world wars already and the fighting still continues.
well technically eldians did fight elidians. The ones on marley fought against their own kind on paradis. Fighting amongst ourselves is ineveitable so I can see why The rumbling would not solve anything even at 100% extinction rate
They will fight for land, money, power, religious belief... Literally anything but the people that hate the ending prefer that over fighting over race (eldians vs non-eldians)... It doesnt make sense... Like what's the difference? Killing 20% more of humanity?
There's one little detail I want to point out about the post credits scene. When Ymir fell into the tree, she was fleeing for her life, pursued by dogs hunting her down, trying to devour her alive. When the future boy discovered the tree, he had a friendly dog at his side to help him explore. Two very different moments in two very different lives. Will the power inside the tree affect the boy the same way it affected Ymir? I think that's open to audience interpretation.
also another detail; when mikasa went to visit erens grave there were roses meaning true love and when she died she was holding lilies signifying purity. so mikasa did not marry jean, I she just went to visit the grave with eren and the off spring might be of other members
Finally! Someone's talking about the tree! I mean that's THE tree, in the exact same shape and setting! Will there be another primordial titan-worm inside it as some sort of residual from Eren's body? Or is it just meant as a cool way to end the show with a neat throwback?
I waited until the show and plot were totally finished before I started watching it. Just finished tonight, and what an unbelievable story it was. I don’t know how people watched something this good while having to wait for new seasons.
After reading the manga ending I was honestly so emotional I was scared to watch it animated and just go into an existential crisis over how intensely it hit me. Can’t believe we’ve been able to see such a monumental story come to an end in the manga and the anime, one of the favourite pieces of writing, no matter the medium or genre. I remember people being upset with the original manga ending but I loved that there wasn’t an easy way to tie up the conflict. I found the anime ending gorgeous too and such a beautiful way to tie everything together. It was poignant and I appreciate that there are no easy answers in the story and the cycle of war is realistic. It’s devastating but still hopeful and I appreciate that AoT reflected that reality.
@@lonelynights5393pretty sure with the powers he can control the memories. It was one of the key reasons no one in paradise was able to remember the Titans at all. As for Mikasa and Ymir. Ymir wanted to be free. She wanted the cycle to end too as she was trapped for eons unable to do the thing she needed to do to be free of the king (end the cycle) Mikasa was the only one, through Eren was able to follow through with his wishes even through intense love. That's why she needed Mikasa to end it. It was her own story being told in the modern time but the King (Eren) in this case would be more selfless enabling his own death

4:22 This is most likely not a reference to them burning the Bodies of those who lost their life during the suicidal charge. Most likely it is a reference to the bodies they had to burn after the Attack on Trost District. This was also more impactful (especially for Jean), because they had to burn the bodies of the comrades they shared a life with for the past years. And being one of those comrades being Marco, it makes more sense that they mean the burning of bodies after the attack on Trost District. Great video btw., really appreciated!

I seriously love the ending of AOT. This series has always been filled with tragedy and I think that this bittersweet ending is the best way to end the series. I’m sure Eren was happy to see Mikasa and his friends live fruitful lives, even though he wasn’t there with them to experience it with them. It’s a shame humanity will never learn and that war continues all over again thousands of years into the future.

You've helped people form bonds that will last longer than you can imagine. You and your content might have even been the reason people are still here today. You ARE and will always be part of so many people's lives.
As tragic as this beautiful story is, I feel at peace knowing that Eren lived a meaningful life and is at peace. Ofcourse we'd love a happy ending where Eren lived and could be with Mikasa, but that doesn't mean their love wasn't special. Ofcourse he desired to be with Mikasa and his friends but he truly believed in his own sacrifice for them. "The world is cruel, but I still love you". This perfectly encapsulates that the world broke them through the sacrifices they made but their love endured. Eren sacrificed his final years of happiness with Mikasa to stay and defend Paradis so his friends could live peaceful lives. Mikasa sacrificed her love to save what remained of the world, and also freed Ymir from the consequences of the sacrifice she could not make. Despite the cruelty of these sacrifices they loved eachother and what matters is their freedom, resilience & choice to rise above that pain and see the beauty in the world, their love. His love for Mikasa affirms though this world does not seem worth living in, there are people worth living for. It eases the heartache of saying goodbye knowing despite the dark path Eren went down, he still lived a meaningful and fulfilling life where he loved and was loved both in the paths with Mikasa and the world. "The world is cruel, but it's also beautiful". This is because of the love Eren and Mikasa had for eachother. They were eachothers constant companion and peace. Eren was tired, in his final moments but Mikasa brought him peace, both in life and in death. it was ultimately his choice to sacrifice himself for his friends and Paradis. I feel at peace knowing that Eren lived a meaningful and fulfilling life. In savings his loved ones he achieved his objectives and in death he is finally free and at peace.
started watching this when I was eleven-twelve and now i'm twenty. followed this anime for a long time and the ending was of course inevitable but also saddening because attack on titan has finally come to an end. i think it depicted perfectly, how the cycle of war continues on regardless. bittersweet that eren was only prolonging that cycle so his friends could live peacefully till they eventually passed as well. beautiful story telling. i will miss all of this so much, i feel like i'm going through the five stages of grief.
Grew up with this series. That ending was... really something. Honestly, kudos to the animators, and the author for creating such a monumental series. A little hard to see it go, but hey, it is what it is.
"To the Boy who sought Freedom, Farewell!" What a journey. Starting it way back in 2013 and I made it to the end. Insane to think of the long wait between season 1 and 2, how many people theorized about the world and how huge of a discussion there was. Then the community dying as the years went by until season 2 came out. Then it exploded once again, the community came back to life. More theories, more discussions and popularity. Season 3 hit like a truck. More questions, more answers. Season 4 captured the globe's attention and despite splitting it up so much, kept the energy all the way through. Thank you Isayama for creating a world filled with themes and lessons that will stand the test of time. A tale about human nature and it's desires. A cycle of life and death that is never ending. This is, of course, brilliant, the only problem is that we were told that in the path time does not move linearly and you see the future, past and present at the same time. Attention to the question: why should a person wait two thousand years for a specific event to happen in the PRESENT, if she should have already seen it in the FUTURE. So Japan served as a leading indicator for many capitalist Western countries. So, the meaning that the attack titan can see the future symbolizes Japan, which acts as an avant-garde for other countries
The fact that they are leading the way does not mean that they can see the future, change or decide. That's why Eren said he was stupid at the end
In the course of the experiment, Japan's traditional and family values collapsed, and society became depressed. The gloomy atmosphere of Japanese culture in the 1990s and 2000s arose after the collapse of the bubble economy in the 1980s
Evangelion and AOT. Both animations are developing narratives based on Japanese society after the collapse of the bubble economy
So I thought this was a significant message from Japan to Western society. And I didn't understand why Westerners like this. But the show was fun 🤷♀️
I think the meaning of rumbling is the return of state monopoly capitalism. Or national capitalism something like that. And I don't think Western liberal civil society is prepared for such fascism
The expansion of capitalism leads to imperialism. And imperialism calls big wars. Reset and start over. So only innocent young people died in ww1 and ww2 🤷
And AOT's narrative justifies that cycle of capitalism
End of Evangelion tried to end it.

This series has meant so much to me over the last decade, and you have done an amazing job covering it.
to me, the ending of the child and his dog approaching the tree gives hope for a better outcome than what Ymir and Eren went through, both sought the same thing: freedom
Ymir came from a time of oppression and persecution.

The conversation between Zeke and Armin really resonated with me. Life is pointless, but we still find happiness in living. boohoo. toughen up
I don't think it was Eren who got rid of all Titans.
THIS
Well that’s also what he had said in the finale, no? That there probably was another solution but HE simply couldn’t think of it.

And that's why eldian destroyed in future.. Eren such a bad leader

Facts was 14 when I started and now I'm 23
I was 19 watching this in 2015 now im 27 😭😭
Imagine unironically praising this fucking trainwreck after the worst ending to anything ever.
I'm 17 and watched the whole thing in 3 weeks. damn I couldn't have waited that long 😭

@@Uncle-Ruckus.L take
I think that the child and his dog at the end kinda means that people with the same situations tend to come to the same conclusions.

the eren and armin last conversation HAS IMPROVE SO MUCH it feels like the ending more organic and acceptable than the manga somehow

Whats the message?
@@amongusgaming8368human always conflict sooner or after. Find your own meaning of life, live for yourself or for the others🤔🤔🤔
as long as humans exist the cycle of hate will repeat itself as its human nature.
That message has already been around probably since ancient times. Karl Marx, the father of communism is attributed to saying that. But I know for a fact those World War 1 veterans seeing us plunge into an even deadlier World War just 20 years later uttered the same words.
This series did really well at highlighting the complexities of life.
In the end, it was for his friends😢. For Mikasa, Armin

This episode made me feel the hopelessness that they all did and it ended beautifully.
The reason he laughed when Sasha died was probably due to his 'moving forward' and his quest to save his friend. He's been on the path multiple time or probably peering this path countless of time and found out Sasha's answer before she died was the 'only' constant.
he always knew
Probably tried his best to keep her alive but the timeline was already set in stone so it would guaranteed happen
It was confirmation that the only available path to save his other friends was the rumbling. He “tested” others and none yielded the result he wanted.

Same, i watched AoT back in 2013 and ended up reading the manga starting around Sannes being tortured.

I was fine throughout the video but your speech at the end broke me.
Thank you for loving a show this much and sharing the love with so many of us
A couple points:
1, Historia can't continue Eren's rumbling, it has to be a royal blood "titan", not any royal blood.
I think zeke is also a hero but with different approach

You missed this:
The giant tree at the end looks identical to the one seen during Ymir’s backstory.
He completely ignored that fact. The tree brings titans
This would also imply that this has happened even before ymirs time
Ymir and the boy are coming from two completely different situations.

Fighting amongst ourselves is ineveitable so I can see why The rumbling would not solve anything even at 100% extinction rate
exactly. i think even hange or pixis said something of the sort in a previous episode
I think that's open to audience interpretation.
also another detail;
when mikasa went to visit erens grave there were roses meaning true love and when she died she was holding lilies signifying purity. so mikasa did not marry jean, I she just went to visit the grave with eren and the off spring might be of other members
@@WiSe0014When she died you can clearly see that she's wearing a ring under the flowers 🙂 she married Jean
@@lali7046where do you see a ring at
@@WiSe0014Look closely on the ring finger of her left hand. There is a silver ring in between the flowers.
We started with season 1 thinking it's a cool anime flick and then you just.. get addicted.
same
After reading the manga ending I was honestly so emotional I was scared to watch it animated and just go into an existential crisis over how intensely it hit me. Can’t believe we’ve been able to see such a monumental story come to an end in the manga and the anime, one of the favourite pieces of writing, no matter the medium or genre. I remember people being upset with the original manga ending but I loved that there wasn’t an easy way to tie up the
conflict. I found the anime ending gorgeous too and such a beautiful way to tie everything together. It was poignant and I appreciate that there are no easy answers in the story and the cycle of war is realistic. It’s devastating but still hopeful and I appreciate that AoT reflected that reality.
Is the manga ending different from the anime ending?
@@hoffl09nope it’s exactly the same
@@lonelynights5393 Ymir didnt love historia, but Mikasa, thats whe SHE sent mikasa these visions not Eren. So yeah there you got your explanation.
@@lonelynights5393pretty sure with the powers he can control the memories. It was one of the key reasons no one in paradise was able to remember the Titans at all.
As for Mikasa and Ymir. Ymir wanted to be free. She wanted the cycle to end too as she was trapped for eons unable to do the thing she needed to do to be free of the king (end the cycle)
Mikasa was the only one, through Eren was able to follow through with his wishes even through intense love. That's why she needed Mikasa to end it. It was her own story being told in the modern time but the King (Eren) in this case would be more selfless enabling his own death
@@hoffl09 what do u mean (in ur 2nd comment)??? Founder Ymir didn't love historia but Jaw titan 1 did. didn't she?? did Founder Ymir love Mikasa?? how? I donot get that
4:22 This is most likely not a reference to them burning the Bodies of those who lost their life during the suicidal charge.
Great video btw., really appreciated!
that’s what i was thinking
Yeah I’m pretty sure this is right because it’s the reason they joined the survey corps, and Connie mentions that’s why they ended up being burdened to save the world (bc they decided to join the survey corps)
such a full circle ending. props to mappa for capturing it so well honestly. beautiful show with a fantastic story 🙏🏼

I’ve been watching this show since i was in 5th grade, Im in college now man. This show is truly a masterpiece that has basically been with me my whole upbringing. I didn’t think watching this shit end would actually make me emotional but fuck man. Thanks Isayama❤
Same here, I was in 4th grade when I saw my older brother and cousin watching season one on RUclips back when it was airing and now I'm a junior in college. Although the wait was timely, it was worth it in the end. Glad I was able to be a part of this journey from the very beginning

HAHAHAHAHA you seriously think this was a good ending? Armin spawning in the paths, giving everyone a pathetic motivational speech, then having past titans shifters fight against eren out of nowhere even though founder should be able to despawn them, everyone surviving without barely any injuries when against all the past shifters, centipede somehow not being able to reach eren, yams forgetting about the centipede after eren’s death, talk no jutsu out of conflict, “only ymir knows”, mikasa being important for some reason, annie getting a good ending after all her crimes, eren killing his own mom, him being a spineless wuss for a girl who he hated, all of his actions being in vain at the end of the day
You must have all your screws loose in your head to think this ending has any redeeming qualities
I still remember first time watching s1 of aot on 2013 and man i cant explain its already 10 years from that and this masterpiece is still my favorite...i literally cried at the last episode 😭😭😭😭
Thanks mappa and all team for making our childhood with good memories
dont forget bout wit studio
This ending had me without words. What an ending. 😭❤️ and has me thinking.
There will always be conflict, no matter what era. It’s just the reality we live in. Peace..is only a place. It’s not reality.
Yup, realistic ending, humans will always be at war with one another and kill eachother, been doing this from the dawn of time
Pretty dumb sentiment tbh, Eren's goal was for his people to not be oppressed and you're essentially saying that that would never have been a possibility because "there will always be conflict".

I've always considered myself a tough guy but man... I felt my tears dropping while watching the sad ending of this series like it pierced through my heart.

I love this series so much. Watching each season as it came out and having no answers as to what comes next made this such a special experience. Back when season 1 came out, no one could’ve ever predicted where this show was going and this amazing ending to one of the best stories ever written. I’m so glad I lived long enough to witness this with you all
I seriously love the ending of AOT.

You wrote that so beautifully, I'm crying 😭😭😭😭
started watching this when I was eleven-twelve and now i'm twenty. followed this anime for a long time and the ending was of course inevitable but also saddening because attack on titan has finally come to an end. i think it depicted perfectly, how the cycle of war continues on regardless. bittersweet that eren was only prolonging that cycle so his friends could live peacefully till they eventually passed as well. beautiful story telling. i will miss all of this so much, i feel like i'm going through the five stages of grief.
Grew up with this series. That ending was... really something. Honestly, kudos to the animators, and the author for creating such a monumental series. A little hard to see it go, but hey, it is what it is.
"To the Boy who sought Freedom, Farewell!"
What a journey.
And it all started under That Tree on the Hill...
Cheers guys, AOT is my favorite anime and show of all time. Now that it's complete I can binge watch it as much as I want now hehe!

Each character had a significant role to the rumbling, fighting, saving their comrades, etc. As fiction as AOT is, there were top notch gems to take home.
