I just made a version of this with what I have a home! Yummmmmm... 1 banana Ice Vanilla unsweetened almond milk 1/2 C oats PB- 2 because I need to lose weight 😊 Then instead of flax & helms seeds I downed a serving of super seed from "Garden of Life" It was delicious!!! I'm fairly new to plant base. And not very active and very petite. So I had to improvise a little bit. Can't believe how good the oats were in a smoothie! Thanks so much for the great idea!
My body had a reaction towards a protein recovery shake and I was not well for like 3 weeks and was sent to the ER a few nights ago. Found out today from the doctor that I was allergic to something or maybe the protein was just too strong because of all the ingredients. I’m kind of traumatized to try any other protein shake but this one is all natural so maybe there’s still hope for protein shake! Just gotta do it the #Hellah way hahaha! Thanks brother! 👌🏼
Just started practicing a vegan diet this week and the gym was not fun due to low energy. I was ready to give up. I just found you on RUclips and Watching your videos has given me more of a direction with my diet and now I am excited to continue! Thank you!
I’m a vegan and I love to stay active but I don’t wanna do those commercial protein shakes because it’s just a waste of time. I’ve seen those ripple milks in walmart. I will give it a go :)
that's a solid shake; im stoked to give this a try! it's important for me to consume legitimate, natural sources of protein so this recipe is fitting for my lifestyle
thanks, i tried a "simplified" version cuz i didn't have all the ingredients on hand. its quite tasty; i look forward to adding in those hemp hearts and dates once i get them (:
I am going to try it. I’m thinking of doing a half vegan half regular diet to begin and later see how far I want to take it. This is good start, thanks man.
Sleepylionheart _ You can do it! After watching FORKS OVER KNIVES on Netflix I went vegan right away. It was so easy since I had a reason for it. Check that out and also WHAT THE HEALTH which is also on Netflix. Let me know what you think. Thanks!
158 pounds !!! I’ve been vegan for 9 months now. I went from 13% BF to 9%BF. I’ve been keeping track by going to lifetime fitness and recording weight/BF. I’m 200 pounds looking to drop 20 & get to 6%.
I had this conversation with a guy recently. He said it's better to get protein from animals because plants are lacking in some essential amino acids. I'm like dude...if plants lacked any essential amino acids, then the animals wouldn't exist. Amino acids are mainly for structure, so if plants lacked them then every creature on the planet would be screwed because plants are the *original* source hahahaha. He didn't have much to say after that. They teach this stuff in basic biology courses...how do people not get this?
Sonja V Different animals have different enzymes in their stomachs to break foods down. A cat and a cow could never eat the same diet for this reason without a long period of evolution. You are correct though, you can get all the amino acids you need from just plants. You just need complementary sources whereas with meat you don't need to do this.
S O N J A you should go back to school and start using Internet to educate yourself and not saying bulshit and making a fool of yourself ... Animals have VERY VERY different digestion system, they ARE ABLE to process the cellulose (e.g. horse) and make guess what - yes protein. And now guess if a human body can do this as well . Arguments like "look at the horses they are eating only grass and look how big muscles they have " I like the most. People are so stupid these days.
Thanks for the help! i have been running everyday and playing basketball 3 to 4 days out of the week and after changing my eating habits and what I consume on a daily basis, all I can say is, I sometimes think i am lebron james lol! Religiously i should be a vegan but growing up I was always told its okay to eat meat but now eliminating that as a source of fuel I feel like i am living on another planet. So much energy, power, and focus. Keep up the work man, thanks for your help! Life is helllllah dope!
I was thinking of trying a protein or plant based protein shake in the powdered form (considering buying in bulk). I have used Vega (small bag, plant based protein powder) in the past & using the Atkins pre-made protein drinks now, which are little more convenient. It looks like you are doing this from scratch, I am sure the extra effort is worth it. They say you are what you eat. I trust foods that come straight from the source, & I guess you can worry less about ingredients either being a mystery or being processed.
Yes! Definitely. I haven't tried vega but a whileee ago I used the orgain powder. It was pretty good but I started to realize I really didn't need the amount that I was taking in and it was going to waste (literally) anyway haha!
Thanks Hellah, that looks good! I like that you use real food. In most research I’ve come across the suggested protein intake for an endurance athlete is higher. Something around 1.8 to 2 gram of protein per kg. Do you feel like an increase of protein might help recovery or is just a waste?
Great video. I like how you explain that plants are the main protein source. I just told my family think about the biggest creatures ever, plant eating dinosaurs. Calcium is another issue I hear regarding being vegan. I get about 700-900mg of calcium a day through sweet potatoes, kale and split peas. I don't take any calcium fortified plant milk because I saw a NutritionFacts.org video and some people get negatively affected with their hearts from calcium supplements. About protein, I used to not count fruits and vegetables as protein, until I saw the amino acid profiles of fruits and vegetables on this site selfnutritiondata and I saw they have all the aminos we need. In my moderate diet of about 2000 calories I get almost 90grams of protein.
30 mg (sweet potatoes at 100g), 150 mg (Kale at 100g), 55 mg (split peas at 100g), to get to you recommend amount amount of calcium in a day you would need to either 2kg of split peas, 700g of kale or 3.6kg of sweet potatoes. How do you do that.
Facts are facts indeed. Animal products are not bad for you. Also, animals are the best way to get marginal land productive ( in the Sahel for example). That being said, given where you leave, plant protein are a feasible source of protein that can be produced locally : so kudos to that - especially if you use locally produced ones. A plus!
Can you write down what you put in that protein shake as points please (1..... 2..... 3..... etc) it's not clear for me, thanks for sharing and keep it up :)
no problem.. I'll add to the description as well. thanks! -2 bananas -ice (to your liking) -5 dates -1 1/2 cup ripple milk (I like vanilla unsweetened) -3 tbsp peanut butter -1 cup oats -2 tbsp flax meal -2 tbsp hemp hearts
Does this count as a meal? As in, I run and lift moderate weights late in the evening. Would this suffice as dinner? Thank you :). Really liking your videos.
just subcribed because honestly you deserve more followers... im going to start making my own cashew milk that i saw on your other video..great stuff do you have any advice for losing weight i run alot but my diet keeps me at 175 its honestly just poor diet because i play hockey play soccer and do teakwondo. but i dont lose weight
Thanks so much man! Well keep it up with all that exercise. Diet plays a bigger role than people think. I always recommend high carb low fat but all Whole Foods. Look into it more. There are some great books out there too like the starch solution and mcdougalls guide to maximum weight loss
Yes I'd recommend the same. I eat A LOT.. and always super calorie dense and high in carbs. I never focus on protein just because I know if I'm eating enough, I'm getting enough. Like Verma said, I eat oats everyday, at least 3 cups of cooked rice a day, 2-3 potatoes a day.. but it's different for everyone in terms of how much they need. Just make sure you eat until you're satisfied and eat whole foods more than anything. Then just make sure you're doing muscle strengthening exercises however often you see fit. I'd recommend 3 times a week if you're trying to maintain
HellahGood thank you very much, i’m loving the content on your channel and definitely looking forward the new content you gonna be bringing in. Keep up with the good work. Love from Brazil. 👏🏾🇧🇷
HellahGood if I'm starting at basically square one, I'll still get some good gains working out 3 times a week if I do it right, right? Someone told me the 3 times a week is mainly for.maintaing after you get the gains you want. True?
Yeah! Nobody needs cow milk so you made the right decision! Lately I've been making my own cashew milk but have made almond milk too.. just takes a little longer to soak than cashews.
Hey:) could you make a video, how you make the milk ? I'm trying to life without plastic since yesterday and now i have to make all the stuff on my own :o Ps. Your channel is great!:) I'm now considering to start my own :D
Being vegan is the best. I love food. My favorite food is black bean dip and cooked kale and mushroom salad. IT TASTE SO GOOD. meat is just gross, lumpy, stank flesh.
Hey buddy do you not use vegan protein powders because they all mess up your stomach? Like me for instance i’ve tried so many but they all get me constipated :(
This looks pretty good but could probably be better without that brand of milk since they use oils in that brand lol not like oil will kill you (right away) but def not a whole food. Great recipe! I think i am going to add strawberries to the mix too. It goes well with the bananas.
Definitely!
I’m allergic to a lot of foods, including tree nuts, not peanuts thankfully, so I’m glad that I can still try this shake. Sounds delicious!
I just made a version of this with what I have a home! Yummmmmm...

Yesss sounds perfect! So glad you got to try it (well almost the same haha)
Haha - almost!

Yeah they're not my thing! I love getting my protein in the whole food form. Try it out, I love ripple milk!
I was just wondering where you can find ripple milk, I will see if I can find some at Walmart.
I love Ripple milk. I buy Ripple Original unsweetened from Kroger, Target, or Whole Foods.
Good shake. I always add green, leafy vegetables also.
Just loving this channel more and more 💪
thanks so much Taran!
that's a solid shake; im stoked to give this a try! it's important for me to consume legitimate, natural sources of protein so this recipe is fitting for my lifestyle

Ripple is SO GOOD
the best!
Very helpful. I just hate regular protein Shakes. This looks delishious.👍🏻
They always have that weird taste under it all right? Let me know if you try it!
HellahGood it tried it and it Turned out well. I exchanged the flaxseed meal with walnut meal and added some konjak. 👍🏻
Does this count as a meal? As in, I run and lift moderate weights late in the evening. Would this suffice as dinner?
Thank you :). Really liking your videos.
I wouldn't suggest replacing a full meal with it. Maybe having it alongside some veggies would be good
Am the same I workout late evenings also, a heavy post-workout meal wouldn't digest quickly before sleep.
Thank you ji 🙏

How do you reach your daily amount of calories a day on a plant based diet? I'm really struggling with keeping my weight without losing muscle.
Eat more dense foods like oats, nuts, avocado, beans, rice, potatoes.
Yes I'd recommend the same. I eat A LOT.. and always super calorie dense and high in carbs. I never focus on protein just because I know if I'm eating enough, I'm getting enough. Probase Nutrition uses the best ingredients and all their products are free of any fillers, sugars, colorants and flavors.
Quick question you said you only consume 86 grams of protein. I thought it was 1g per pound minimum.
He probably weighs 86 pounds I don't know
yooooo no powder thats what i've been looking for
yes! all natural
There's still pea protein powder in the milk, so it's not free of refined foods.
Hella is the GOAT

Oh darn no I never had that issue but I just feel like everyone is so quick to go for powders and I'd rather get the whole food in with it if I can!
Can I use coconut milk? Also what type of oats do you use?
Definitely! Any plant milk. I use organic rolled oats
HellahGood thanks
Averagely how many miles you run per day sir
What was the metal thing in your cup
it's a shaker cup so if it sits for a while you can just give it a shake and it helps to "blend" things for you
Watched this while eating oats.
I liked the protein shake and the video but you should do less cuts
thanks I guess
I cant see myself letting go of fish and a little chicken. But i do want to work on eating more plants and less meat.

I very impreasive on your style
Thanks so much!

haha thank you!
This seems more like a meal replacement that a protein shake. The purpose of a protein shake is yo get more protein without getting too many calories. This is great as a meal replacement though. Especially for those trying to bulk up.

Can teenagers be vegan?
Hey Wilson, anything you have the ability to change, you can. However, it does depend a lot on your parents/guardians if they're the ones providing/cooking/shopping. You can definitely make more plant based choices wherever you can make your own choices but there are other factors that may hold teenagers back from transitioning.
Are you from the bay? 🤣
I'm not. are you?
or just eat a burger
Are you Hindu Brahmin?😜. Indian wrestler Susheel kumar and Yogeshwar dat are vegterians also they are Olympic silver medalist
Very good when you cut... Not.

Not sure what that means
