Scott Elliott - Why not pose the question directly to Thomas Frank? His name is right under the vid. Or did you just want state the obvious that everyone else saw too, but didn't want to draw attention to themselves by asking a rhetorical question followed by a dozen unnecessary question marks?
I drink a very similar smoothie pretty much daily. The main difference is I always add some extra stuff mainly for the phenolic compounds. Cocoa powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and turmeric are my go to's.
i appreciate your existence so much. You deserve all the love you get and more, you're so calm, analytical and informative, no bs. You also give actual tips i didn't know of, unlike most channels' videos. YOu put a lot of hard work and dedication into this channel, and I really aprreciate it.
I also make a fruitsmoothie every day. I also blend veggies and herbs with water or broth to boil/steam my rice in on the stove top. I got my blender from Walgreens for $24.99..works great. Also if on a budget, the dollar store frozen section has frozen fruits, oatmeal, peanut butter, fresh veggies, etc at it...just look around.( We have 99 cent only stores).
Here in Brazil we have something called açaí. I do a variation of this recept using avocado, açaí, plain yogurt, whey protein, wheat bran, palatinose, strawberries, blackberries and peanut butter. This tastes awsome kz açaí flavor is very pronounced. Veeery good shake and keeps me less hunger for longer time. Many benefits for replacing bread and stuff like that for this kind of diet. Plain yogurt (fat) , Avocado (fat) and palatinose (low glycaemic index) may be a very good adding for your receipt. Maybe replacing/adding flexseed for wheat bran may be beneficial too and even cheaper. If you find açaí in your country try it out on your receipt
Could also make this quicker by combining all the dry ingredients to a small per day container. Less items to pull out each morning. Looks like a good smoothie. I might look into this actually.
Water Kale/spinach Flax/hemp/chia seeds Peanut butter Half frozen banana Handful of frozen blueberries Cinnamon A clean hormone free protein powder Mct oil It’s cold, healthy, and delicious I skip the oats and minimize the fruit to keep the carb/sugar count down (I’m on an adapted keto diet). The shake still has a ton of protein and calories in it. Ps The protein powder brand you’re using has a ton of ingredients in it. There are a few better and cleaner protein powder options you can find on Amazon (around $55 for 5lbs)
Do you have a brand recommendation? I use grass-fed whey for my normal protein shakes - I think I opted for ON whey for these since I go through it faster. But I might just switch fully to the grass-fed stuff and be ok with the cost increase.
Thomas Frank Levels Nutrition and Pure are the 2 brands I’ve tried. Both offer 5lb options on Amazon for less than $60. They have minimal ingredients and taste great 👍🏼 There is also Naked Whey which I’ve heard good things about but it’s around the $85 price point. I used to use Met-RX powder and a few other bigger brands that can be found at Vitamin Shoppe before switching to healthier stuff. Personally I was happy to pay a bit more for the peace of mind of knowing I was consuming a “cleaner” protein source, but it’s all a personal choice. Thanks for the reply and great video man.
You could but you may have to tweak a little, the leafy greens, chia/flax seeds thicken as time goes by (even more when it cools overnight in the fridge) and the one time I did I ended up with something so thick it was undrinkable, so you may want to either put less of those, up the liquid ratio (if you use something bigger than a Nutribullet), or switch the almond milk to plain water. Hope this helps, let us know how it goes!
I've been making a similar smoothie (Ok, I based mine entirely on your recipe after I listened to the podcast that you and Martin talked about how to get better at cooking, meal prep, smoothies, etc..) since I moved to Canada. It's been 2 and a half months now and I eat (maybe drink is better) the same thing every single day! - Half an avocado - Bunch of blueberries (frozen or not) - kale/spinach - unsweetened almond milk - protein powder (been using "VEGA Sport" whey) - Natural peanut butter (check the label. Ingredients section must contain only peanut and salt) That's so tasty, fast and healthy! in 5 minutes I make, drink and clean (just blend the bottle with hot water and soap after) The only downside for me is that I wake my roommate up every day with all the noise hahah (but he doesn't care gladly)
Smallest chance you will read this, but the green banana (not ripe) is super healthy for your microbiome. Probiotika. It has not turned into sugar yet. Tates awful, but good for you - and you wont taste that green banana in a shake. thanks for tips.
I make each morning a shake, here is what I use in the mix, 4 Dates less seed, I use date paste, 1 Tbl of each, Steel Cut Oats, Black Chia, LSA, Hemp, Wheat Germ and 3 Tbls High Protein Whey, 1 xTsp of Turmeric, Nutmeg, Cinnamon. 1 Teaspoon Black Pepper to help Turmeric dispersion in the body and a good teaspoon full of honey. 2 thirds cup of ice and a 2 Tbl water. Fruit,, I always use banana but only one third for creamyness plus say blue berry, or any berry available, at the moment I am using Passionfruit, as much as you like. I mix all this with a Bamix and it works fine, easy clean, done correctly it foams up fantastic and I eat with a spoon while reading the newspaper each morning.
Really great smoothie recipe I really love how you add flaxseed to introduce fiber that was always my one problem with smoothies is they take away the fiber from the fruits and vegetables
Agreed. Being healthy means need to consider our sleep, nutrients and exercise😍. The first thing that we need to take care of if wanna be productive is being healthy then comes everything else.Anyways first time seeing how ur kitchen looks😚
Love this recipe! Except for flaxseed and peanut butter, it has all of the ingredients I already use. Going to try this tomorrow! (with my favorite, almond butter, of course...)
Thanks for the video!!! Great recipes I usually add sea moss to all of mine and also do a 16/8 intermittent fasting cycle. I eat from 11am-7pm only. I am in my 40s and have gone fro 237 to 219 in 2 months. I have tried a lot of sea moss and this is the best one that i have found!!!!
Nice recipe, sadly I don't have a good a blender, so I'll stick with my protein oatmeal. Here's the recipe: -2/3 cup oats -150-250 mL of skim milk -a handful of frozen blueberries -1 scoop (30g) of vanilla protein powder -1 tbs of chia seeds -1 tbs of smooth peanut butter Put the oats, milk and blueberries in a bowl and heat for 3 min. Then add in chia, protein powder and peanut butter. Lastly, enjoy!
I talked to a dietitian about smoothies, and she said that we need to grind chia & flax seeds before they go into the drink. In her words, our digestive track cannot break down these seeds (they simply go through our system). So it’s better to consume ground seeds, it increases an absorption of nutrients. This’s what I heard.
Definitely not true re. chia seeds. They begin breaking down when moisture is added (which is why they have a jelly effect if left for a while) and even whole dry chia seeds are easily chewed (but gross, don't do that).
And if you consume dry seeds make sure to drink enough water, otherwise you'll get the WORST stomach pains when they absorb the moisture in your stomach. Speaking from experience :(
Hi Thomas, I use to make a kind of the same smoothie and I would like to suggest a variation to what you currently do. Chia is a cereal and it is like oats more or less. I mix flax, sunflower and pumpkin seeds and none of them are cereals which do not produce intestinal gas. I also like to add the ginger root (a lot fibers and flavor). Ginger is a very good antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic, so your body will massively appreciate it if you train quite a bit. I also add a bit of cinnamon which leverages the absorption of sugar and taste good. Last but not the least, I always use just seasonal fruit for obvious reasons. Thanks for your recipe, it looks very good. Cheers
I saw this video in my recommended a while back. Really loved it. It's cool you are exploring new areas and you did a really good job. I'm excited to try this.
Have you read "How Not to Die: Discover the Foods Scientifically Proven to Prevent and Reverse Disease" by Dr. Michael Greger? It's a lot better than the corny title makes it appear!
Gatsbys Pet “We strive to make the best of our lives by maintaining ourphysical health and mental happiness. I've also been doing this eveery morning and it feels so much better than forcing yourself to eat breakfast and having stomach aches from the cereal you ate.
I have a vegan smoothly every morning. - frozen blueberries & bananas + cyan pepper + flaxseed meal + vegan protein powder. Blend it w/ 1 Qt. Of cold water. Served w/ 3 fried eggs and sliced cooked sweet potatoes, or black rice tortillas w/ almond butter.
Love it! Haha Sadly, smoothies are not worth it for me as I’m fructose intolerant and fruit are such a key ingredient haha. 2 Eggs with vegetables do it for me in the morning, also take 5min :)
Daniel The intolerance has a certain degree, depending on how many enzymes your body still produces. So usually people can still eat foods containing fructose :) It’s just shit with most fruit, as plenty contain a high amount and your body cannot compensate that. For example bananas are killer for me, but Mandarines work quit well haha
Jevhenij Horvat i drink it with Kale spinach Protein powder, almond butter, and that’s about it. I do sometimes add a bit more artificial sweeteners macha and salt if I feel like it. Tastes amazing.
Here is my recipe: 1 Banana 1 Cup frozen blueberries 1 Cup frozen mango 1 Teaspoon of matcha green tea (antioxidants) 2 Tablespoons of rice protein powder 2 Tablespoons of coconut oil Fill up with coconut milk Blend for 20 seconds
Hello, I have a question: Is this a healthy smoothie? I use the smallest cup size. 1 cup rice milk 1/3 strawberries 1/3 blueberries 1 tbs peanut butter 1 teaspoon chocolate power (or one scoop of chocolate protein, depending if I have some) I drink this every morning because I don't have time to make myself breakfast in the morning. Thanks in adanced!
I think a lot of people could benefit from nutritional videos as well. I too like to sometimes sub my usual breakfast for a smoothie similar to the one you made. I like to add peanut butter, because I love peanut butter, but I recently went to Costco and found that they have a peanut butter powder with “87% less fat” and “1/3 of the calories”. I find that it tastes exactly like the peanut butter I’ve been loving and eating my entire life and it’s easier and less messy to add to the smoothie. Anyway, as always, love the videos, podcasts and everything you feed us dude. Keep it up.
Smoothies are actually amazing, I use goats milk (but almond etc. do work well) and then vegan protein powder seeing as I'm intolerant to whey as well as environmental reasons 👌🙌
Batch cooking is definitely a good topic. I think 'scheduling your meals' is also pretty much in line with your other videos. Anyway, love your lifestyle. Really something to look up to
I stumbled upon this video 5 yrs later and i just have to say...it looks EXTREMELY healthy and appetizing. This video is VERY informative and will now be incorporating this into my daily diet before cycling to work. Thanks a lot. Have a good one
I suggest blending the chia & flax seeds before putting in the rest, because they might be too little to be blended in the liquid and you hardly absorb any omega 3 and the other good stuff from whole seeds inside their hard shell. Or you really try to break every seed in your mouth but this is nearly impossible in a smoothie. :D Maybe your blender is accurate enough to get them, but mine is not and that's just what I learned how to make my smoothie better without changing the taste or ingredients. :)
Thanks for the vid. Try switching out your whey protein with hemp hearts. They contain all essential proteins and are much easier to digest. Whey protein is just dehydrated and isolated milk, not good the stomach. Drinking it with almond milk is kind of redundant. Just a tip👍🏻
This is a life saver for college. My girl is a health junkie who recommended a similar shake she adds her smoothie with a red apple, frozen banana, bran cereal, chia seeds, blueberries, strawberries, a mix of some blackberries before she hits the gym. Cheers!
My go to lunch smoothie is: 1 cup frozen blueberries, some cinnamon, cold coffee, about 3/4 cup, I large teaspoon peanut butter (or any nut butter, 15-20 grams), 1,5-2 scoops Whey chocholate protein powder. About 500 calories, with a lot of protein. Very good!
It's pink in the beginning because of strawberries but there's also spinach in there....so it changes color after a few minutes. I eat this frequently. It always goes from pink to green/greyish
I also like to make a smoothie for breakfast or lunch. What I usually add: 8 oz Whole Dairy or Coconut milk (I'm allergic to almond and soy milk) Some variety of raspberries, strawberries, or blueberries, depending on what I have 1 scoop whey protein 1 handful of baby spinach 1 banana 1 spoonful chia seeds (I eyeball most things) Sometimes I add an avocado, matcha, turmeric powder, cinnamon or something else depending on my mood

Frozen veggies are essential imo. They don't really lose any nutrient content vs canned processing and do not expire fast like fresh vegetables.

Why is the smoothie he makes purple but the one he drank at the start and end was green???????????
Kooper Elliott he probably put more greens rather than blueberries
The power of editing 😂
Scott Elliott - Why not pose the question directly to Thomas Frank? His name is right under the vid. Or did you just want state the obvious that everyone else saw too, but didn't want to draw attention to themselves by asking a rhetorical question followed by a dozen unnecessary question marks?
I didn't even notice
Oxidation is the word.
3:33 That's a weird looking strawberry.
Lol I was like banana is a strawberry now, lol
Hmm.. New Topic!.. Keep it up!
Watching this while eating gummy worms and procrastinating on my math homework.
It's all funny until you wake up one day and realize your now 30 eating gummies watching this video.
@@onthemoney8356 Hahahahaha yikes!
The Funny One
Time to make some changes🙂
Your future self will thank you for it.
Then just add some ginkgo & fish oil to your smoothie!
Water
Kale/spinach
Flax/hemp/chia seeds
Peanut butter
Half frozen banana
Handful of frozen blueberries
Cinnamon
A clean hormone free protein powder
Mct oil
It’s cold, healthy, and delicious
I skip the oats and minimize the fruit to keep the carb/sugar count down (I’m on an adapted keto diet). The shake still has a ton of protein and calories in it.
Ps
The protein powder brand you’re using has a ton of ingredients in it.
They have minimal ingredients and taste great 👍🏼
There is also Naked Whey which I’ve heard good things about but it’s around the $85 price point.
Keep adding health content to your channel, I LOVE it!
And just curious how do you clean the inside of that straw?
They make specially made pipe cleaners for them. Bed Bath and Beyond used to carry them...don't know about now.
I’d rather just not have a straw than deal with that nonsense
Soap and water
I laughed so hard when you called the bananas “strawberries” 😂😂 like how could you not notice that lmao
😆😆😂😂😂
Yea i noticed that too.
Can you make it the night before? My blender will wake up my entire apartment building, and I wake up at 5am
😁😁same here :D
Wake em up

This is the video that got me to love smoothies and healthy stuff like that, a few months back. Thank You
I've been making a similar smoothie (Ok, I based mine entirely on your recipe after I listened to the podcast that you and Martin talked about how to get better at cooking, meal prep, smoothies, etc..) since I moved to Canada. It's been 2 and a half months now and I eat (maybe drink is better) the same thing every single day!
- Half an avocado
- Bunch of blueberries (frozen or not)
- kale/spinach
- unsweetened almond milk
- protein powder (been using "VEGA Sport" whey)
- Natural peanut butter (check the label. Ingredients section must contain only peanut and salt)
That's so tasty, fast and healthy! in 5 minutes I make, drink and clean (just blend the bottle with hot water and soap after)
The only downside for me is that I wake my roommate up every day with all the noise hahah
(but he doesn't care gladly)
Do you feel any changes after you started?
Just made one of these today... Bruh. Delicious for sure and has a lot of great ingredients. Very happy with this. Thanks for making this video!
@Caeden handsome
Smallest chance you will read this, but the green banana (not ripe) is super healthy for your microbiome. Probiotika. It has not turned into sugar yet. Tates awful, but good for you - and you wont taste that green banana in a shake. thanks for tips.
Alexander Kristoffersen oh thankyou
1.Cup of spinach and kale mix
2.strawberries , raspberries, blue berries 4to 5
3.banana
4.flax seeds 1 tbsp
5.chia seeds 1 tbsp
6.oats
7.
Agreed. Being healthy means need to consider our sleep, nutrients and exercise😍. The first thing that we need to take care of if wanna be productive is being healthy then comes everything else.Anyways first time seeing how ur kitchen looks😚
Mental health also
Love this recipe!

Here's the recipe:
-2/3 cup oats
-150-250 mL of skim milk
-a handful of frozen blueberries
-1 scoop (30g) of vanilla protein powder
-1 tbs of chia seeds
-1 tbs of smooth peanut butter
Put the oats, milk and blueberries in a bowl and heat for 3 min. Then add in chia, protein powder and peanut butter. Lastly, enjoy!
I got mine at savstion army for 2.99. Works great. Use it every day.
YESSS IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS! PLEASE DO A MEAL PREP VIDEO!! ESSP FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS!!
!!!!!
Speaking from experience :(
Besides, one of the main things that his blender advertises is how it grounds seeds and such so it's still fine to add those in
Hi Thomas, I use to make a kind of the same smoothie and I would like to suggest a variation to what you currently do.
Cheers
in my morning smoothie i include:
kale/spinich
blueberries
mango
peanut butter
almond milk
chia seeds
myra burgess wheres the bananas 🤦🏼♂️😂
I saw this video in my recommended a while back. Really loved it. It's cool you are exploring new areas and you did a really good job. I'm excited to try this.

Have you read "How Not to Die: Discover the Foods Scientifically Proven to Prevent and Reverse Disease" by Dr. Michael Greger?
It's a lot better than the corny title makes it appear!
Scias Yes everyone should read the book it's really good
Can you explain it a bit more?

Yessss, please make more videos on making videos like this. Slow cooking would be a cool video idea, something that saves us time.
I've also been doing this eveery morning and it feels so much better than forcing yourself to eat breakfast and having stomach aches from the cereal you ate.
Glad you branched out to nutrition and health! Will look forward to more videos in the future about this topic.
Sleep, exercise, nutrition AND MEDITATION!
Aaaaaand I have had my whole day's maximum caloric intake in the first 5minutes of the day! Lucky me.
Ive been looking for something effective and easy.. I didn't think about a smoothie. Man, thank you.
I have a vegan smoothly every morning. - frozen blueberries & bananas + cyan pepper + flaxseed meal + vegan protein powder. Blend it w/ 1 Qt. Of cold water.
Served w/ 3 fried eggs and sliced cooked sweet potatoes, or black rice tortillas w/ almond butter.
7:30 the magic of editing :OO!!!
Love it! Haha
Sadly, smoothies are not worth it for me as I’m fructose intolerant and fruit are such a key ingredient haha. 2 Eggs with vegetables do it for me in the morning, also take 5min :)
Being fructose intolerant must suck
Daniel The intolerance has a certain degree, depending on how many enzymes your body still produces. So usually people can still eat foods containing fructose :) It’s just shit with most fruit, as plenty contain a high amount and your body cannot compensate that. For example bananas are killer for me, but Mandarines work quit well haha
same here I can't eat any fruit or sugar. It does kinda suck :(
And it is much more nutritious than any smoothie.
Jevhenij Horvat i drink it with Kale spinach Protein powder, almond butter, and that’s about it. I do sometimes add a bit more artificial sweeteners macha and salt if I feel like it. Tastes amazing.
Here is my recipe:
1 Banana
1 Cup frozen blueberries
1 Cup frozen mango
1 Teaspoon of matcha green tea (antioxidants)
2 Tablespoons of rice protein powder
2 Tablespoons of coconut oil
Fill up with coconut milk
Blend for 20 seconds
Juan Perez not enough protein. Ditch the mango and add almond butter.
Hello, I have a question:
Is this a healthy smoothie?
I use the smallest cup size.
1 cup rice milk
1/3 strawberries
1/3 blueberries
1 tbs peanut butter
1 teaspoon chocolate power (or one scoop of chocolate protein, depending if I have some)
I drink this every morning because I don't have time to make myself breakfast in the morning.
Thanks in adanced!
I put blueberries strawberries banana Maqui powder wheatgrass coconut water and almond yogurt! So good!
I started replacing breakfast with smoothies in september, it really gives me energy in the morning and I love it.
Nice milk choice, cup of raw goat milk is more nutritious than this smoothie.
Maybe your blender is accurate enough to get them, but mine is not and that's just what I learned how to make my smoothie better without changing the taste or ingredients. :)
Finally found a green smoothie I like!! Thank you!
I do really think this video fits in your channel. Keep it up man!
Thanks for the vid. Try switching out your whey protein with hemp hearts. They contain all essential proteins and are much easier to digest. Whey protein is just dehydrated and isolated milk, not good the stomach. Drinking it with almond milk is kind of redundant. Just a tip👍🏻
I just found your channel I am a new subscriber and I can’t get enough of it. You’re such an inspiration.
This is a life saver for college. My girl is a health junkie who recommended a similar shake she adds her smoothie with a red apple, frozen banana, bran cereal, chia seeds, blueberries, strawberries, a mix of some blackberries before she hits the gym. Cheers!
*EXTREMELY NICEEE!!!!!!!!!!!*
Your voice/the way you speak sounds like Jake Gyllinhal
"Welcome to my kitchen. There are many like it but this one is MINE." 😂😂
Very good!
It's really good! I made mine with oat milk & added all plant protein powder along with a vanilla protein pod. Yum!😊
Thanks for sharing this recipe! 👍
you should make a video on meal prep, lot's of students could benefit
What i wanna know is how the colour of the smoothie changed from 7:39 to 11:44
It's pink in the beginning because of strawberries but there's also spinach in there....so it changes color after a few minutes. I eat this frequently. It always goes from pink to green/greyish
I think he added chameleon in there 😂 XD
Yash Srivastav :😂🤣
Maybe he Just puts more spinach the last one.
Yeah smoothies change color overtime
Important question: is this smoothing going to keep me full for a long time? Lets say 3-4 hours at least or am I going to feel hungry after 1-2 hours?
Just try it out
I also like to make a smoothie for breakfast or lunch. What I usually add:
8 oz Whole Dairy or Coconut milk (I'm allergic to almond and soy milk)
Some variety of raspberries, strawberries, or blueberries, depending on what I have
1 scoop whey protein
1 handful of baby spinach
1 banana
1 spoonful chia seeds (I eyeball most things)
Sometimes I add an avocado, matcha, turmeric powder, cinnamon
or something else depending on my mood
I have been using his recipe for months now. It's a wonderful and easy to make smoothie that doesnt make you get sick of it!
Finishing up my smoothie! Ready for a productive day. Thanks Thomas!

Just joking. Good video bro.
call the banana a strawberry then uses teeth to open it
