A woman very dear to my heart was drugged and raped back in the 80’s. She was waiting for her friend to get off work when a man came over and started chatting with her. She’d left the table for a few minutes, came back, and finished her drink. She remembers nothing after this point. This woman didn’t tell me until I was an adult myself. I don’t like to say exactly who in to me but..yah know. Anyways, she said she woke up the next day just as he was walking back into the bedroom, she was in the bed. She said he looked like a deer in headlights, and seemed shocked she’d woken up. He seemed shocked she was ALIVE. She said she was mere moments away from freaking out when a voice in her head went “he will kill you!” sternly and suddenly she just yawned nonchalantly, asked what time it was, threw the blanket back, and pretended like she was late for work. He was taken aback by how nonchalant she was, just kept standing in front of the door. She said she’d ask him questions and he’d just silently stare back at her as if in his own head calculating his next move, not caring if she thought it was weird or not. She made it seem like she thought they met at a club or something and hooked up and she just didn’t remember much, must’ve gone out drinking. She just kept saying her boss and coworkers were probably already trying to get ahold of her since she never is late for work. She just started getting dressed as this man seemed unsure what to do. She was terrified because her mind was telling her to get out, but also she didn’t wanna seem like she wasn’t just rushing to get to work. He let he go.. she left.. this was the Fort Lauderdale Fl area in the mid-late 80’s.

If anyone wants more stories like this or to listen to this story told in another way, these clips of her come from the documentary show "I survived a serial killer" Its an amazing show on Hulu, Disney+ or Philo, there's about 16 episodes all of people who survived serial killers.
A (twin) sister's love and above else, a mother's love and resolve know no bounds. She managed to both save her sister and kid, while offering a way to the killer to escape (from his point of view) but what she did was move the danger further away from her family. She used cognitive empathy and psychology instinctively to save the lives of all the people they had encountered putting her own on the line. I don't know if I would have the courage not to yell for help at the front desk of the motel or the dinner. When his kidnapper locked himself away, I think that a part of him who grew attached to her let her have the win because he could have easily made the desk open the door and kill the employee then run away or destroy the door.. I mean in his mind, one more body or not, all the same. A sick mind with no impulse control and him not being able to "perform" show how much of low self esteem he had. He couldn't ra*e women so he killed them to show he still got control. Her showing him some form of cognitive empathy and "kindness" is certainly something he wasn't used to and he appreciated that. I'm 100% sure that had she not played the relaxed nice lady he would have destroyed the door one way or another and killed her. Him asking her to tell he didn't hurt her, that je would have preferred meeting her before all this really shows how ill he was and not to excuse his actions, how would have his life turned out if he had been shown love and kindness? He probably would still have been violent with no impulse control but I doubt je would have gone on a killing spree. I see a man that wasn't much loved, rejected and an outcast who thought little of himself so playing on his insecurities was very smart of her. I feel bad for the trooper, the driver and for all his other victims .. sick mind or not, such violence is not acceptable, no matter your past traumas or rough life.

@@FrenchFryCheese04 no wonder you've got a channel dedicated to hoovers 🙄🤣🤣🤣🤷
I'm pretty convinced that Knowles wasn't trying to escape when he was killed, but likely encountered some 'country justice'. They sure put on one hell of a show, pulling out that seat.
i hope that's true.
This series is so GOOD. I look forward to it so much.
Yes true but I think that she meant that even the victims can be survivors I don’t think she knew how that sounded until after she said it
It could also just be clumsy editing.
Everything is reduced to soundbites. She may well have contextualised it; but it’s all filtered through the edits for the original show and more editing for this video.
I think she meant that you choose whether to stay in a victim mentality or not. If you choose to be a survivor, you are not allowing yourself to be shackled to the past and any trauma
Her dream of her mother had me sobbing
That editing is getting SO GOOODD MANNNNN.
Excellent telling. Thank you.
what a bad ass lady and mother!
Thank God she survived when so many don't
I just listened to a podcast about this case… good to see more than one input to get the whole story… good work!
Amazing woman.there are no doubt she loves her sister and son more than anything
She wakes up everyday, grateful to God, that he agreed to take her instead of her 6 year old son.
A really sad case. Thanks for sharing. I really like the channel.
the sponsor was oddly placed in the video, interrupting the story at the worst time possible
Im sure that was the point
Barbara is the pure example of a hero. 😢❤
Thanks for making such quality videos!❤
God bless barbra! she is a very smart and brave woman! ❤️
Such a sad case 🥺Thank you for another great video! Love your channel! 🧡❤️💛
And what an amazing survivor she is! 😎👍
What an incredible story!!! Thank you for sharing this!!!
Such an intelligent and admirable lady. She truly is a survivor. ❤
Thank god he didn’t kill her and now she returned to her son that a mama boy
Barbara sure is a strong lady, Knowles was insane and would have killed her like he killed those men afterwards. She pulled through with her own strenght and she is a survivor.
U know what, killers dont just forget their keys. God was involved in this praise The Most High 🙌
Amen to that!
Wow, this video was both heartbreaking and inspiring. The way you captured the emotions really resonated with me. It’s amazing how stories like this can remind us of the strength of human connection. What did everyone else think about the message? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
This story can be a movie ❤
that's actually really offensive!
GREAT STORY. GREAT WORK, BARBARA, BEVEE & DALE.
Hero.hero.hero.
I watched this case on the FBI
Files documentary series a few years back, the actor who portrayed paul John knowles looked similar to him.
Barbara did the right thing when he tried to open the door
before he left her at the motel,
l think that was a test, leaving the key on the bedside table,
if barbara did open the door,
he would have most likely shot
her or maybe not, he has an hair trigger temper, but she
survived, he did not, that's the
most important thing.
RIP to all of his victims.🙁🙏
That Volkswagen Bug is giving me Vibes of TED BUNDY
What a remarkable woman.
Amazing woman, amazing video.
R.I.P Beverly 🙏🕯️
Greatest mother moment ❤️
احب قناته لدرجة اني اتابع مقاطعه بدون لا امل. 💖
شكرا لك على مجهودك.
"thank God he didn't hurt you mommy" 😭 no child should be saying those words EVER. no matter what religion you believe in, in this situation you really have to thank God for that.
Beautiful story .. I love the happy ending here and the love story and surviving ❤
Love this channel 👏
Idea for a video: The Ant Hill Kids Case.
Good Morning Everyone
You really think those cops didn't help that guy try and escape? 😂😂😂 They got some ol fashioned justice right there ❤
She’s alive because of God. A miracle that he can only do!
Amén to that ❤
