It's weird to say, but the letter Elisa wrote to her daughter really is beautiful. It sounds like she truly understood her mistakes and just wanted to apologize and finally return all the love and support she got from Haylei over the years. No child should ever have to do that, but at least she finally acknowledged it.

Are you serious? Her mom wrote what her daughter needed to hear, so she could move on with her selfish life. Her mom was completely heart broken & devastated. She couldn’t fathom that the only person she ever truly loved & would do anything in this world for, could turn her in & take her life always from her. Your Hallmark ignorance is hilarious. You don’t understand the true situation here, obviously.

@@suegoulding1341 Thanks a lot, I appreciate all of that very much. She did love me and I could tell when she was sober, she just fell victim to addiction for reasons of her own like so many of us do. I don’t shame anyone for not being able to overcome addiction, it’s tremendously difficult and unfortunately sometimes simply loving your family and friends isn’t quite enough to steer you away from the clutches of your addiction. I know she tried hard for a long time but eventually lost. I’ve thought about that a lot, what she felt and thought about as the overdose set in and she might have had some moments to realize the mistake she had made. Not even sure if there was any time to think clearly before it took effect, but if there was I believe she would have thought of me and wanted to say goodbye. She always felt horrible about putting me through tough times, so I’m sure she would have considered how her passing might affect me. I hope she somehow knew in that moment as overdose set in that I would forgive her for the mistake she seemed to have made, so that she might feel some sense of ease as she passed. It took me a long time but I think I’ve forgiven her as far as I know how to. I’m doing alright, I try to live my life as happily as I can, I have my troubles as anyone does. I could tell that it was so genuine and really showed how much she loved her daughter and regretted everything she put her through and hated that she was unable to provide any kind stability in her life. She tried her best in my opinion considering the circumstances. I do wish things could have been different for both of them. I never relate to anyone who murdered someone but for some reason that I can’t put my finger on I have a lot of empathy for Elisa..Idk maybe I’m crazy. This gutted me in ways I was not expecting, quite honestly. Beautifully told story.
Haley is truly something special. And one thing that I hope she knows for sure is that despite her mom’s sickness ~ she clearly loved Haley with her entire soul. I almost feel like she sacrificed her life in the belief that continuing to live would hold Haley back. That, along with her decision to drop Haley off on the side of that road, was the most selfless, courageous thing that she had probably ever done in her life.
In hearing all sides of the story, I do feel as though there were definitely mitigating circumstances in this situation. It seems to me like she truly felt trapped, already had tons of years worth of trauma resting on her shoulders (even if some of it was self-induced trauma) and didn’t think there was any other option than what she and her cohort did to Larry. I think that she didn’t feel good about what she did. I don’t think she was a terrible person. I think she was just so very mixed up and continued living the only way she knew how to live.
There is such beauty in this story, although I am still mindful that a man’s life was taken.
I just feel this immense sense of pride, wonder and gratitude for the path that Haley chose to take for her own life. Her mama knew that her daughter was so incredibly special~ and she was right. Haley’s story is an amazing testimony for anyone who is able to listen to it. No matter where you come from, no matter what awful things may come your way throughout this crazy thing called life~ we can choose to do something different and do things that we might never have thought we could do.
Sorry for the long post~ I am just stunned at who Haley has become and how she has turned out. May God continue to bless this woman and her lovely family ~ she is deserving of all the beauty that she has created for herself.
In closing~ the words that her mother wrote to her was so much more than just a goodbye letter. It was a gift to her daughter and also the ultimate act of making amends in the only way she felt she had left.

Hard to dare to judge Knowing how conflicted that young woman's life had to be because of her mother, but Larry put her life in danger, and both were abused by him. I don't know, some part of me is wishing she tuck the decision let her go and not give her away. But I understand that maybe she was afraid after her mother had already crossed that line, wondering if she was capable of doing it again, and even for love feel the need to stop her. I accept that everything is more complicated than I could ever understand.

It’s amazing how differently the same crime can be covered. I’ve heard this story before told by someone else on RUclips.
The focus was on Elisa’s and Sarah’s relationship, both at work and personal.
According to that channel they were more than just co workers and completely drained Larry’s business out of money by committing fraud and forgery and spent his money on luxuries for themselves.
And here the focus is on Larry and how bad he was, and the woman is almost a hero, who was protecting her daughter at all cost.
So.. who knows what the truth really was.🤷‍♀️

It’s great to see her daughter thriving though despite how chaotic her early years were.

man it seems people have more sympathy for the mom than the poor daughter. 😕 not only did she have any chance at a normal and safe childhood taken away because of the selfishness of her only parent, but she was eventually just abandoned on the side of the road like garbage then forced to live with this horrific trauma for the rest of her life, all alone. she grew up in constant terror, danger, craziness and paranoia, surrounded by abuse, lies and unchecked mental illness. never having any actual friends or roots anywhere. no fun memories with friends or family. no one to ever turn to, being forced to become the mom to *her* mother as a small child. then instead of just packing up and leaving the man who abused and threatened her daughter for years like she did 100 times before, she murders him, tells her child, throws her out on the street and makes her live with the guilt of having to turn the only person she has in the world in to the police knowing she’d get life or even the death penalty. i mean come on guys. the daughter is the one still suffering.

Thank you! All these people saying she was such a great, loving mom. While she parentified her child in the worst way. There were grandparents who could have taken care of her child. She could have worked on treating her mental illness. Plus, I’ve seen this case covered years ago, and iirc, Elisa and Sarah had embezzled a lot of money from Larry’s law office, from the account that was supposed to pay out to clients who won their case. Larry was an abusive asshole, but they really planned his murder to cover up their theft. And Elisa killed herself rather than face what she did, and left her child to pick up the pieces. And in the letter, she showed she knew what she needed to do, and hadn’t done.

Seems like she could’ve just emptied the bank account and dipped with a new identity, no murder needed. Or just let them find him and think he drank himself to death. The logic just isn’t making sense to me

Exactly my thoughts! Everyone saying she protected her daughter too! Smh! She's the one who cut her house arrest bracelet and went on the run with her 8yo child! Then gets with an abusive drunk and stays bc he was rich! She's selfish and drug her daughter thru the mud! Then took her own life bc she always ran from her problems! A good mother would have faced her punishment for the crime she committed and let her parents help raise her daughter while she faced them. The trauma and anxiety she fully caused her child is very sad.

@@sweetie523out of all the perp i felt most compassion for the mother, even with getting financial stability with an abuser, conning, it was all to support her daughter. However, when u killed someone, there is this contradict i think transpired within her mind that she needs to support her daughter but also she is concerned and shocked of what she did. Then, her daughter told the police what happened because her mother was so mentally ill because of the uneasy feeling of covering the truth. Hence, her daughter's action was to release her mother from the weight despite that felt like a betrayal...very sad story

Despite all the MANY mistakes that Alyssa made (including murdering the man who laid his hands on Haylei)... Alyssa still managed to raise a level-headed, intelligent, caring daughter. Haylei is a perfect example of not having to let your past define you, and that a bad childhood doesn't excuse bad behavior.
