  • "Something's wrong with dad"
Houston, Texas, 1986: 14YO Laurie Tremblay is murdered. The case goes cold, and years pass with more bodies discovered, without any clues on who the killer is. Meanwhile, young Tiffany Shore moves in with her dad after her parent's divorce. She starts to realize he is not as fun as she remembered. More and more controlling, he makes a habit of locking his daughters inside the house when he leaves. As his behaviour becomes increasingly strange and overprotective, the Tourniquet Killer claims more victims: surviving her dad’s sudden rages will actually be the key to solving the terrifying serial killer case.

People don't get jail time for a personal use amount of drugs. It's a low level misdemeanor and they'd rather you go to rehab. Do you not know there's a drug epidemic going on? They don't want the jails filled with these drug addicts. They want them to get help. Even people who have priors. If you get a simple possession and paraphernalia charge it's usually 1-2 years probation/parole.

@@ulalaFrugilegaso my mother and father divorced when I was a kid, she and him didn’t have a good marriage, bad on both sides tbh. She always made out she was a huge victim and wasn’t safe, that the house wasn’t safe for us either… but he had custody of us for 2 years and she never once came back for us, she instead went out and partied with random men. When my fathers mum died he was devastated and didn’t have any fight left in him between the bitter divorce and losing his mother (he never knew his father, he was a one-night-stand-with-a-stranger baby) so his only parent and he struggled with depression. Only at that point did she get custody, not because she missed us, but to hurt my father.
Some women abandon their kids without a second thought, my mother did that for 2 years and didn’t think twice about it, and instead only used us as pawns to hurt her ex husband. Guess who grew up with a mentally unstable mother who neglected me, forced me to care for my brother and encouraged my brothers violence against me? Yup, that would be me.
My father and I are rebuilding our relationship as adults, he’s genuinely horrified hearing about some of my childhood, he was in tears listening to some of it, but it wasn’t his fault, my mother just wanted to hurt him. He was correct tho, he told her years ago “Kellie, one day your kids will cut all contact with you when they learn who you truly are, but I’ll always be there for them no matter what they’ve done or who they become”, and he was spot on, I haven’t spoken to her in years.
Some mothers just don’t actually care about the kids that they have, this case being a prime example of a mother who said “I’m divorcing you and you can have the kids”, but they were failed by both parents whilst I’m lucky to have a normal father.

@ Valkylva, CPS should be investigated as they are notorious for letting down children in unhealthy environments on a daily basis. The entire system needs more case workers, more training as well as some type of management oversight board of each set of case workers that are ensuring that children no longer fall between the cracks and are protected and secured into healthy environments free from harm, abuse as well as proper nutrition, schooling and most importantly safety!!! It’s a systemic problem that has hampered the system for decades. Unfortunately too many children grow up with serious mental issues but for some they end up deceased as well.

My daughter is 10 years of age, I would never send her to the shop because I know that if something were to happen, she is to young, and physically weak to give herself the best chance of getting away.

My channel covers true crime and we covered the case of 4 year old Rilya Wilson who went missing for 15 months and no one noticed. Rilya was given to a woman who claimed to be her grandma but CPS never checked (spoiler alert, she had no relation to Rilya). Rilya was supposed to get monthly visits from her social worker but by the time she was checked again by a completely different social worker, she'd been gone for over a year. And when they FINALLY realized she was gone, CPS still WAITED 6 days to report her missing to the police. Unfortunately, Rilya was never found and is thought to be dead.

CPS is awful. I adopted a baby that was born addicted to drugs and had to spend 30 days in the ICU. They gave the birth parents nearly a year to go to rehab and they never did. Once he fell and since he was young (soft head) we took him to the ER. The next day CPS showed up at daycare and took him away and gave him to foster parents. Two days before Christmas. We had to get a lawyer and go to court twice before the judge gave him back. I hate CPS.
    ---
This all happened when we were foster parents before adoption. The ER visit resulted in a clean bill of health. It was protocol or some BS that they kidnapped him from daycare (no heads up at all). We had to go to court twice because they needed some DSHS doctor to examine the...uh...exam. He testified that any concern over abuse was ridiculous. DSHS said some crap about 'an abundance of caution' in their defense. Everyone in the courtroom (on zoom) hated them as much as I did. Bastards. Sorry for veering off-topic. Far away from any serial killers. Any talk of CPS always triggers me.

The part about CPS made me so angry!! I have 5 friends who I know of that tried to find help in the system. CPS went to their homes for 3-5 minutes or had coffee with their parents and left. One of my friends was punshed by her mother afterwards throwing chairs at her and screaming at her to never do that again. My best friend was molested by their father for most of their childhood. They told me everything while sleeping over at my apartment 1 night. At 11 they searched for an address to turn to, and took trams and walked by foot lieing to their parents to get CPS on their dad. They were scared of what he would do, but they wanted to protect their siblings who were getting closer to the age where the SA started for them. CPS only came over to ask whether their father was making enough money and left.
So my friend collected evidence for 3 fucking years, recorded everything that was happening to them, provoked their father on purpose only to slowly build a case against him at 14.
They got no help from a system supposed to protect them. But they would have done anything for their siblings so that's what they did! And they did it on their own!
And what did they get for it? Their mother blamed them for their siblings not having a father, Mahtab was forced to take on the role. Their mother would use their credit cards whenever she wanted, if she called they had to be home. When they came out as non-binary she berated them and denied them their autonomy. She confiscated their binders, that was the first time ever Mahtab called me and confided in me for real.
When Mahtab slept over that one night and told me everything, I'll never forget how they closed it:"You know, my family has a high chance of breast cancer, too? If ever I get it... I'm not going to get treatment, cuz I'll finally be able to die." That was the moment I knew deep down that we wouldn't be sitting on a bench by the lake in our old years, talking about life. I tried to help them as best as I could at 20, they were 23 almost. But we were both struggeling and it wasn't easy. Sometimes we wouldn't call for months. But we both knew that if we were hanging from a cliff, the other person would be there to pull each other up, even if it meant possibly being pulled down as well. They were a fighter! But February 2019 they lost the fight at a station that was never specified to me. I couldn't be at their funeral, I was only called afterwards as my name was mentioned in their letter. I never got to read the letter cause meeting with their family wouldn't have been safe. I had gifted them a binder and a T-Shirt saying "aggressively Queer" from Redbubble. They laughed and carried me around the street that's how happy they were. I never got any of those things to remember them. They wore them when they jumped. I have a shirt of my own though, although to this day it's hard for me to wear it.
I was so angry for such a long time, at their family, at MYSELF, and especially at CPS as well. Who sees a 11 yo kid walk into their building distraught begging to be rescued and don't take it seriously? If they just had ONE person who cared when they needed it the most, they might still be alive today. The system failed them! In my eyes, CPS had as much a hand in their death as everyone else that made them feel unwelcome and unheard.
My parents were talking about legally adopting my friend, but it was too late, they never got to, although my best friend would have loved them. My family had only met them twice, but everyone had fallen in love with Mahtab. I remember having to call my sister, my mother who broke down, my dad slamming his fist, kicking the table in the background and screaming insults at noone. Their death has ripped a hole into my chest I have not been able to fill ever since and that is still impacting my life. If there was anyone I would have wished a happy and good life, it would have been them. Because Mahtab was the fucking best!
The system is a fucking joke! And this case just further proves that.

Also, CPS needs to give more weight to what children are saying than the adults, of course a parent or guardian would lie to cover their own azz…. They need to put more effort into the follow up than just take them at their word…. 🙆🏻‍♀️

You would be surprised how often child protections fail, it's not because the policies aren't in place, it's because imbeciles and enablers are rife through child protection services.
Plenty of good people work in child protection services, but much like the Catholic church, there is a darker side.
Bad bad people are attracted to positions that give them power over the vulnerable.
