- "Something's wrong with dad"
Houston, Texas, 1986: 14YO Laurie Tremblay is murdered. The case goes cold, and years pass with more bodies discovered, without any clues on who the killer is. Meanwhile, young Tiffany Shore moves in with her dad after her parent's divorce. She starts to realize he is not as fun as she remembered. More and more controlling, he makes a habit of locking his daughters inside the house when he leaves. As his behaviour becomes increasingly strange and overprotective, the Tourniquet Killer claims more victims: surviving her dad’s sudden rages will actually be the key to solving the terrifying serial killer case.

I'm not sure why I was originally expecting a story about a dad fighting off a serial killer who is after his daughter. What actually transpired was purely sinister. Damn.
My thought exactly. That "VS" on the title is so misleading.
That's what I was expecting too. Wishful thinking I guess.
@@ninchicatI mean it’s not really misleading. They were all thinking he was being an overly protective dad with what happened surrounding them. But the plot twisted.
@@urmom9837 I'll stick to my opinion.
I thought the same thing.
He did no jail time for “touching “ his children. Only had to register… It you get caught with a lil bit of personal use drugs u better count on some good jail time. Anyone else see how insane this is?
Too many liberal DAs letting criminals go without consequences.
Yup it's disgusting.
@@DadaIorian no such thing as a liberal DA.
It's a disgrace, everything is corrupt.
People don't get jail time for a personal use amount of drugs. It's a low level misdemeanor and they'd rather you go to rehab. Do you not know there's a drug epidemic going on? They don't want the jails filled with these drug addicts. They want them to get help. Even people who have priors. If you get a simple possession and paraphernalia charge it's usually 1-2 years probation/parole.
So sick of stories of sexual abuse being reported over and over, and the “authorities” not taking the information seriously!!! Infuriating and disgusting!

The fact that CPS dismissed Gina's attempts at trying to report her brother, ignored the claims of the parents of the 16 year old victim AND let that monster out without any jail time despite the fact that they literally had evidence against him is just so sickening.
My dad had cps called 68 times. Never got help. Finally he's in prison but yea he's getting out in 3 years. Charles Wayne Guerra in California. These types of people should stay locked up and death penalty should be brought up vs release.
I wish you all the best and the strength to heal
@@MandatedReporter same! 26 times in one year. He finally faced prison time and I was left homeless afterwards. He was facing 20+ years but took a plea bargain deal and got 12. They released him after 7 for "good time" and completing a drug and rehabilitation course, lol.
Not sure if there was also a "do not rape and torture children" course as well.
Social services turned a blind eye time after time and had the nerve to tell me that I could have just told them 😂.
I'm still furious. But I'm also alive and doing my best to have a life I can be proud of.

It's not the judges. It's the politicians making the laws.

It's so sad because these girls had to go through so much. Their mother failed them and so did their father. I'm glad their aunt tried to help them over the years and finally contributed to getting them, and the other victims, the justice they deserved. It's honestly disgusting just how corrupt this country is when it comes to sex offenders. They get a slap on the wrist, yet the victims suffer for life.
Yes and it’s getting worse they let violent offenders out all the time
I thought about the mother, too. She must have divorced the man because he was controlling etc. to her, too. Why leave the girls there? I've asked myself the same question about those monster mothers' ex-husbands, who later claim to be shocked y whattheir children suffereed at the hands of the woman they fled in panic...
@@ulalaFrugilegaso my mother and father divorced when I was a kid, she and him didn’t have a good marriage, bad on both sides tbh. She always made out she was a huge victim and wasn’t safe, that the house wasn’t safe for us either… but he had custody of us for 2 years and she never once came back for us, she instead went out and partied with random men. When my fathers mum died he was devastated and didn’t have any fight left in him between the bitter divorce and losing his mother (he never knew his father, he was a one-night-stand-with-a-stranger baby) so his only parent and he struggled with depression. Only at that point did she get custody, not because she missed us, but to hurt my father.
Some women abandon their kids without a second thought, my mother did that for 2 years and didn’t think twice about it, and instead only used us as pawns to hurt her ex husband. Guess who grew up with a mentally unstable mother who neglected me, forced me to care for my brother and encouraged my brothers violence against me? Yup, that would be me.
My father and I are rebuilding our relationship as adults, he’s genuinely horrified hearing about some of my childhood, he was in tears listening to some of it, but it wasn’t his fault, my mother just wanted to hurt him. He was correct tho, he told her years ago “Kellie, one day your kids will cut all contact with you when they learn who you truly are, but I’ll always be there for them no matter what they’ve done or who they become”, and he was spot on, I haven’t spoken to her in years.
Some mothers just don’t actually care about the kids that they have, this case being a prime example of a mother who said “I’m divorcing you and you can have the kids”, but they were failed by both parents whilst I’m lucky to have a normal father.
@@ulalaFrugilegain the case of father's leaving their kids with their mothers I think has something to do with an underlying issue of sexism and that we as a society tend to believe that all women are natural mothers and could never be capable of hurting their own children

I was a teenager in Houston during that time period and I don't remember this at all. I guess that's why my parents were so scared when I wasn't getting home at the normal time or staying out too late. I do recall there being a really bad crime wave in the late 80s and it got better, but now it's a cesspool all over again. Why do people even have children if they're not going to do right by them?

A fine question.
That would make me think even more horribly of Texas than I already do. I had a pen pal in Weslaco for many years who was a teacher and then a principal. I remember her being openly and blatantly harassed by superiors and male coworkers, and I told her to go to her union, since I was working for a university union here in BC at the time. I nearly fell over when she told me that unions are illegal there. That sounds like a terrific policy for employees to be treated wrongly. Perfect for the abusive and corrupt employer. Then I learned more about Texas, and now, today, I am convinced it is simply part of the sewage tank of the US, along with Florida and many mid-western states. Ewww.
Becuse most humans are selfish =/
it’s so infuriating how many cases could be solved and people could be saved if only law enforcement took people more seriously

@@roserocks1979 especially if it's a woman about abuse or stalking.
Honestly
I’m tired of CPS taking the word of the parent in question. There should be full on investigations.
@ Valkylva, CPS should be investigated as they are notorious for letting down children in unhealthy environments on a daily basis. The entire system needs more case workers, more training as well as some type of management oversight board of each set of case workers that are ensuring that children no longer fall between the cracks and are protected and secured into healthy environments free from harm, abuse as well as proper nutrition, schooling and most importantly safety!!! It’s a systemic problem that has hampered the system for decades. Unfortunately too many children grow up with serious mental issues but for some they end up deceased as well.
No doubt. It's better to check and be wrong instead of do nothing at all.
They usually do. At least up to 5 years ago as I know

CPS is awful. I adopted a baby that was born addicted to drugs and had to spend 30 days in the ICU. They gave the birth parents nearly a year to go to rehab and they never did. Once he fell and since he was young (soft head) we took him to the ER. The next day CPS showed up at daycare and took him away and gave him to foster parents. Two days before Christmas. We had to get a lawyer and go to court twice before the judge gave him back. I hate CPS.
---
This all happened when we were foster parents before adoption. The ER visit resulted in a clean bill of health. It was protocol or some BS that they kidnapped him from daycare (no heads up at all). We had to go to court twice because they needed some DSHS doctor to examine the...uh...exam. He testified that any concern over abuse was ridiculous. DSHS said some crap about 'an abundance of caution' in their defense. Everyone in the courtroom (on zoom) hated them as much as I did. Bastards. Sorry for veering off-topic. Far away from any serial killers. Any talk of CPS always triggers me.
What that man did was disgusting. He doesn’t deserve to be called a father. I’m glad they got justice.
This world is a better place, now that this POS was executed. Death row is the only place he belongs.
This is one of the best true crime channel on RUclips 👌
I can only imagine how difficult it would have been going through what these young women had to endure but to also find out that your father is a serial killer as well. Wow! It’s truly amazing to see how well rounded they are today after everything.
Kudos to Tiffany! She saved lives and is an amazing person for what she did and is doing with her life & studies. ❤
If there's a killer why would you send your daughter to get sugar?
Inspiration for all.
Amazing story of healing and recovery: thanks!!!
Im blown away by the quality of this video, new sub, gotta go binge your videos now! 😂🎉
The part about CPS made me so angry!! I have 5 friends who I know of that tried to find help in the system. CPS went to their homes for 3-5 minutes or had coffee with their parents and left. One of my friends was punshed by her mother afterwards throwing chairs at her and screaming at her to never do that again. My best friend was molested by their father for most of their childhood. They told me everything while sleeping over at my apartment 1 night. At 11 they searched for an address to turn to, and took trams and walked by foot lieing to their parents to get CPS on their dad. They were scared of what he would do, but they wanted to protect their siblings who were getting closer to the age where the SA started for them. CPS only came over to ask whether their father was making enough money and left.
So my friend collected evidence for 3 fucking years, recorded everything that was happening to them, provoked their father on purpose only to slowly build a case against him at 14.
They got no help from a system supposed to protect them. But they would have done anything for their siblings so that's what they did! And they did it on their own!
And what did they get for it? Their mother blamed them for their siblings not having a father, Mahtab was forced to take on the role. Their mother would use their credit cards whenever she wanted, if she called they had to be home. When they came out as non-binary she berated them and denied them their autonomy. She confiscated their binders, that was the first time ever Mahtab called me and confided in me for real.
When Mahtab slept over that one night and told me everything, I'll never forget how they closed it:"You know, my family has a high chance of breast cancer, too? If ever I get it... I'm not going to get treatment, cuz I'll finally be able to die." That was the moment I knew deep down that we wouldn't be sitting on a bench by the lake in our old years, talking about life. I tried to help them as best as I could at 20, they were 23 almost. But we were both struggeling and it wasn't easy. Sometimes we wouldn't call for months. But we both knew that if we were hanging from a cliff, the other person would be there to pull each other up, even if it meant possibly being pulled down as well. They were a fighter! But February 2019 they lost the fight at a station that was never specified to me. I couldn't be at their funeral, I was only called afterwards as my name was mentioned in their letter. I never got to read the letter cause meeting with their family wouldn't have been safe. I had gifted them a binder and a T-Shirt saying "aggressively Queer" from Redbubble. They laughed and carried me around the street that's how happy they were. I never got any of those things to remember them. They wore them when they jumped. I have a shirt of my own though, although to this day it's hard for me to wear it.
I was so angry for such a long time, at their family, at MYSELF, and especially at CPS as well. Who sees a 11 yo kid walk into their building distraught begging to be rescued and don't take it seriously? If they just had ONE person who cared when they needed it the most, they might still be alive today. The system failed them! In my eyes, CPS had as much a hand in their death as everyone else that made them feel unwelcome and unheard.
My parents were talking about legally adopting my friend, but it was too late, they never got to, although my best friend would have loved them. My family had only met them twice, but everyone had fallen in love with Mahtab. I remember having to call my sister, my mother who broke down, my dad slamming his fist, kicking the table in the background and screaming insults at noone. Their death has ripped a hole into my chest I have not been able to fill ever since and that is still impacting my life. If there was anyone I would have wished a happy and good life, it would have been them. Because Mahtab was the fucking best!
The system is a fucking joke! And this case just further proves that.
God bless that girl for having courage to confess to her aunt about all the abuse she suffered from. Hadn't she done that god knows how many more girls would have been killed before that murderer would get finally caught.
Wow. What an incredible story. I loved the way this ended for Tiffany.❤️
Great narration! Great channel! More please
I am so so mad at the mother who was happy to abandon her two little girls. Wtf was she thinking?!
She is and she was a pu***y so here are the consequences she should nt be a mother
I think its their mothers choice..if she wants to give full custody to the dad..
@@sugarhiccup2584 I understand that. I'd thought of that as well.
However, from the youtuber's way of putting across the information it sounded like the mother had "abandoned" her children..and I understand the difference between abandoning and giving up to..
It actively sounded like 'giving up'
What do you think?
@@gfys6323 Yes, i agree with you..But she still should have fought for custody of their kids since its the mother who should end up with the kids most of the time.
But she still has a choice to make, maybe she had a good reason for it like starting her life afresh with her new partner bc if they had joint custody there would be problems in her new relationship.
Its like she wanted to NO contact with him so she just gave up her daughters
@@sugarhiccup2584 maybe you have a point but then..was the new relationship more important than her children? :/ I dunno..this whole story is heartbreaking
I am a 4th Generation Houstonian born in 1976-I remember this and other awful cases (gang initiation m**der of 2 teenage girls walking home, I-45 Freeway Serial M**ders) very well. I was in HS from 1991-1994 and crime was terrible-even though we lived in the suburbs my parents and my friends parents were all super protective and we used to gripe about it but how thankful we all are that they were! Houston crime continues to get worse and worse-it’s really sad how awful it’s become……
Good ol H(ell)-Town
Amazing girls… so courageous! Thank you for your strength and example. Blessings
The fact the parents sent a 9 year old outside alone to buy sugar when there was already active, repeated murders, seems like they didnt really give much thought for her well being
And you being the arbiter of what's good & right & proper parenting would know, right?
Times were different & they didn't know there was a serial killer at that point. The murders were years apart.
The two worst kinds of people on the internet, predators & sanctimonious assholes who sit in judgement.
right, I don’t like to victim blame but that death was so preventable.
Whyyyyyy did it take so many victims before they realized he was a serial killer? A tourniquet isn’t too common and he hade every one the same way??? Also, CPS needs to give more weight to what children are saying than the adults, of course a parent or guardian would lie to cover their own azz…. They need to put more effort into the follow up than just take them at their word…. 🙆🏻♀️
You would be surprised how often child protections fail, it's not because the policies aren't in place, it's because imbeciles and enablers are rife through child protection services.
Plenty of good people work in child protection services, but much like the Catholic church, there is a darker side.
Bad bad people are attracted to positions that give them power over the vulnerable.
The system tends to ignore s.a claims from girls and women. Which is why the metoo movement started.
Because the mental requirement to be a cop is just to be able to write your own name on a piece of paper
Surely the ex wife would have had an inkling that something was off with him ( his own family did) and yet she abandoned her defenceless children in his care.
I think its their mothers choice..if she wants to give full custody to the dad..
@@sugarhiccup2584 Yes, it was her choice & it was a horrible choice. She left her daughters with a complete psycho.
Horrible woman!
@@sugarhiccup2584 Hello fellow Cocteau Twins fan!!😘
@@natalievu4399 Do you make the same comment about absent fathers when the mother or her second husband or boyfriend abuses the kids?
@@sugarhiccup2584 Stop projecting your issues. You keep repeating the same thing.
CPS really walked into a house with condemned windows where a father was keeping his two daughters from the rest of the world, and went "Yep. Nothing to see here :)"
Thank you!
My dad drugged me when I was a child too. He did horrible things to me and my older sister and my mom. Who did nothing to protect us. There are such horrible humans in this world. Thank goodness he took himself out when I was 6. Wish my “mom” would’ve went with him.
This was an amazing outcome for all those involved ❤
What courage. Thank you for your great example.
May God bless and keep you always.
Prayers for you children. Such strength.
