I've had an extremely rough life and have experienced many traumas from a young age. One time in high school a friend was very upset because she got a bad grade when suddenly she stopped and apologized, saying that she must sound stupid being that upset over a grade compared to what I've been through. I told her not to apologize, that it was all relative. True, getting a bad grade most likely wouldn't upset me very much because I've been through so much worse, but to her getting a failing grade was the worst thing that had ever happened and so even though the situations were different, the feelings were the same.
Oh wow, an 11 year old with more gumption than most adults! Untying the lifeboat in the dark under those circumstances is amazing in itself. I hope she has had a good life ❤
This lady is a beautiful earth angel. To survive such an horrific ordeal, especially only being 11 years old, took so much courage and fortitude. I have huge respect for her ❤🙏
He probably knocked his wife off the boat and got caught by Terry's father. Which he then attacked too. Knowing the rest of the family would question him and alarm everyone, he wanted to kill them. It's a miracle he didn't end Terry on the boat and just left. I don't understand why he took the toddler with him.
Was it Rene he had with him on the dingy or was it his toddler? It's not clear from the video and news reports as they claimed to be looking for 4 members of the family.
I just heard this story on another channels. Man what a monster. Thank God she survived and could confirm the truth.👍👊💪💞💞 I can't imagine what she endured as a child in that situation. Adults can't handle it. What an ordeal she survived is a miracle. Loosing her poor family. 🤦♀️💔 RIP Angel's 🕊🌾💗 Thank you for another upload. God bless 👑🙏🕊❤️🩹
Tere Jo is incredible, she was definitely meant to survive and make sure the stories of her family were not left untold and littered with lies. So amazing.
@@lynnbaker2336 That is somehow always what happens when people talk about survivors and even some survivors of mayor disasters (I think not Tere Jo) would go and say stuff as ''I was guided'' ''god helped me'' and so on..... I will never understand it.... So painful for the families of the others.
I couldn't even imagine the feeling of being alone in the ocean and seeing nothing but water all around. That's horrifying!! Almost like being locked in a refrigerator and put into a huge landfill. It gives me a panicky feeling just thinking about it!
Unseen ... Your content is outstanding. The level of polish, care and respect for each person's story, delivered with such eloquence and technique deserves more than just views. Spectacular production quality and skill. You deserve your own network. Fantastic work, sir. Bravo.
What Terry Jo lived is unbearable. An what she says resonates deeply. It is incredible how, as children, my family was willing to protect my sister (10) and me (12) from the news of my father's passing at the hospital, but they did not allow us to have closure. Personally, I spent years searching for my father and only accepted his death when I turned 40. I believe it is important for children to be confronted with the realities of life and death. Depending on the circumstance, it can be a natural part of life, and by shielding them from such experiences, we only prolong their suffering and cause more harm.
I dont know if any of you have ever been on the beach alone at night with no sound or light pollution, been on the top deck of a cruise ship late at night when everything is quiet, or possibly on your own/friends boat with the engine and lights off, but the ocean goes from beautiful and majestic during the day, to an absolute monster at night.. A monster that seems alive and can reach up and swallow you at any point...You can't see hardly anything past arms length, but you can hear and even from land you can weirdly feel the power and destructive force that is the open ocean, it's honestly pretty intense. After realizing how the ocean sounds at night, i did it again while on mushrooms floating out at sea on a private boat when it was pitch black..which was hands down one of the most intense experiences of my life.. Anyway, now imagine all that (minus the shrooms), but as a child, out in the middle of that monster at night, alone, unable to see past your fingers (out at sea is the darkest dark you'll ever experience, and i used to live in the canadian bush) while on the tiniest flimsy dingy keeping you from certain death...Not knowing where you are, if there's a huge wave lurking behind you, or if anyone knows to even attempt to come looking for you.... As day turns to night and night back to day, the reality starts setting in making you slowly lose more and more hope by the hour that anyone is coming.. You're starting out with no clue if an SOS was even sent before the ship went down, so it could be days before anyone realizes something is wrong, and at that point, you'd probably be hundreds of miles away by then.. Even with a quick start by rescuers, it's still like trying to find a single pebble on miles of sandy beach with the pebble being near identical in color...As the dark thoughts become more and more prevalent, while floating aimlessly in the middle of the night in the middle of an absolute monster, the only potential peace you have is if you're able to sleep, or if it's a clear night and you're able to lay down and look up to see the most/brightest stars and moon you'll probably ever see in your life time (which in your mind, won't be long anyway) due to zero light pollution... One of the scariest things I can ever imagine as an adult, let alone as a child. Like i said before, the ocean at night gets intense even when you're on a boat that can take you back to saftey at any time it's a good thing she wasn't scared of the ocean in general prior to being stranded at sea, the thought of floating above the cold, vast, black empty void for miles below you while not knowing what's lurking beneath at any given moment, and the only barrier between that void, you, and therefore death, is less than 6 inches of life raft... just the fear and realization of that can be scarier than being lost for a lot of people, there would be no peace at that point.. day or night.
What unfortunate poor people, to hire this individual to guide them on their vacation, giving him the opportunity to take advantage of their innocence! And what a girl, to be able to give them justice.
He obviously had something about him that left doubt in your fathers mind. I can understand that, some people have a bad 'aura' (the only word I could think of)
If i remember right, it wasn't his aura. It was the fact he was wrecking the boat! I can't remember the details, but he was smashing things and tearing up his boat.
I absolutely love your channel and how you give a different twist to the true crime genre with these stories of amazing heroics from survivors and how you piece together the stories of how things get solved. ❤ While the things the suspects do in these stories is horrible, you shine a light on how people can fight through and persevere
I'm so glad you made it for another of reason's. You put a stop to a sick killer. For that you should proud. You lived through one if my biggest nightmares. Big bodies of water are so powerful. I live in Michigan were lake superior almost got me but was saved by my sister. I wish you the best.

Ridiculous how that raft was made.. not even joking, I'd rather die in the sinking than be stuck on a raft that is just interlaced rope.. 😬 what even is that..
The fact she survived for over 2 days is crazy to me ik I wouldn’t even last a few hours. She was so brave and I’m so sorry for what happened to her family :/
This is one of the saddest stories. What are the odds of Tere's father hiring the "wrong" person to skip his boat ?? Why was evil sent specifically to THIS family? That just shows you cannot trust anyone. You HAVE to do your research before putting your family's lives in the hands of a stranger. Too many stories like these too many times whole families are wiped out because they trusted "someone"
It’s not that he didn’t do his research, they mentioned that the killer was a family friend. This was supposed to be a fun vacation. It’s a matter of bad people being able to hide well and do bad things.
A couple in the 80s who was trying to sell their boat went on a test drive with a prospective buyer. He tied the anchor to their feet and threw them off the boat into the ocean.
That background music is so annoying!! This is such a tragedy but some people think we need music to be able to understand this distressing story. RIP poor people.
I lost both of my parents as a seven year old and used to dream that I was alone at sea. I would look to every horizon in these dreams and only see water. Aye... This sweet girl- our childhoods were different...but the same. I've never watched a film and wished I could sit down and have a cup of tea with a person in the film, like we would understand in each other a fair amount, we would understand each other's heart which had to break but mend when we were just little bits...but I do sense this with Tere Jo. I would add that we all face enormous obstacles in life. Some of us face them, like we did, as children, when we are only coming to even see the world, in what should have been the safety of our family's care. We get robbed of so much that people take for granted and catapulted into adulthood so instantaneously, taught to rely on ourselves too soon, at the mercy of G-d, of strangers, extended family, and of trying to make a beautiful life with such broken pieces of childhood... Some people go through what seems like an idyllic life only to suffer in the end. Some people make it through a beautiful childhood, only to face non stop trouble in adulthood. Almost no one is spared...it's a million different struggles presented randomly. And as a rabbi tells me, no one gets out of here alive, so we all have death to face at some point as well. So we make beauty of the minutes and the moments we have...thriving, seeing, going, doing, creating, loving, helping, giving. This is being alive and keeping a light on in one's soul, so to say, even in adversity. If you are reading this and in a struggle in life, in your dark moment, I say 'hold on, hold on, keep hope.' And to Tere Jo, I send you a hug for being a brave girl and a woman who kept going and didn't quit life despite badness and heartbreak. And I send you all the best. -Rachel
I was just thinking about this story yesterday. She spoke about dolphins circling the life raft and scaring the fish that were biting her toes away. The odd this is that when the crew rescued her they spoke about sharks circling her raft.
They didn't explain that part. I'd guess he took Rene with him to make it look like he tried to save her. It would seem less suspicious than being the only one who made it to the dinghy.

True, getting a bad grade most likely wouldn't upset me very much because I've been through so much worse, but to her getting a failing grade was the worst thing that had ever happened and so even though the situations were different, the feelings were the same.
God* ❤️
Such a sad story, so pleased she had a loving aunt and uncle to take care of her.
I cried my eyes out in the last 2 minutes. Such a tragic tale, yet such an inspiring and strong soul.
God Bless Tere Jo!
Oh wow, an 11 year old with more gumption than most adults! Untying the lifeboat in the dark under those circumstances is amazing in itself. I hope she has had a good life ❤
Poor Terry she lost everything that day and she still fought to live...So proud of you Terry...God bless you 🙏
This lady is a beautiful earth angel. To survive such an horrific ordeal, especially only being 11 years old, took so much courage and fortitude. I have huge respect for her ❤🙏
Wow! This story is the definition of incredible. The intellect & courage of Terry Jo is spectacular.
He probably took the toddler to make himself look like a hero oh look i tried to save one it covered his story
Was it Rene he had with him on the dingy or was it his toddler? It's not clear from the video and news reports as they claimed to be looking for 4 members of the family.
@@birdflipper “red hair young girl” and zooms into the picture of the toddler at around 3:05-3:12

What a brave little girl, I'm so glad she survived and was able to tell everybody what a monster Harvey was.
R.I.P to all 5 victims 🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊
What a horrible, tragic, heartbreaking yet beautiful story of the human spirit~! This story had me feeling ALL the emotions at one point or another.
I just heard this story on another channels. Man what a monster. Thank God she survived and could confirm the truth.👍👊💪💞💞
I can't imagine what she endured as a child in that situation. Adults can't handle it. What an ordeal she survived is a miracle. Loosing her poor family. 🤦♀️💔
RIP Angel's 🕊🌾💗
Thank you for another upload.
God bless 👑🙏🕊❤️🩹
Terry Jo, what an amazing and honorable human being you are!
Tere Jo is incredible, she was definitely meant to survive and make sure the stories of her family were not left untold and littered with lies. So amazing.
It was a fluke. She wasn't "meant" to survive, she survived because of her willpower.
But you cannot say that she was meant to survive without also saying that the others were not meant to survive, which ultimately negates their value.
@@lynnbaker2336 Obviously not what I was trying to get across.
Has that happened to someone? The refrigerator? Seems an oddly specific scenario...
Unseen ... Your content is outstanding. The level of polish, care and respect for each person's story, delivered with such eloquence and technique deserves more than just views. Spectacular production quality and skill. You deserve your own network. Fantastic work, sir. Bravo.
What struck me was how this created a “strong bond between her and the sea” and she ended up working in regulating the sea.
Sounds like fate to me.
True! Our need for truth is essential to building and rebuilding ourselves.
God bless her for living her best possible life and incredible perseverance in the face of such a horrific tragedy.
the way you tell, but especially the conclisopn of these stories is always so moving. thank you for lighting up these stories for us this way.
This is the best version of this sad but inspiring story I’ve seen yet!
Someone really needs to make a movie out of this. That would be a great movie.
True
It was pure torture and a living hell for that poor little girl and a miracle she was spotted in time.
Like i said before, the ocean at night gets intense even when you're on a boat that can take you back to saftey at any time
it's a good thing she wasn't scared of the ocean in general prior to being stranded at sea, the thought of floating above the cold, vast, black empty void for miles below you while not knowing what's lurking beneath at any given moment, and the only barrier between that void, you, and therefore death, is less than 6 inches of life raft... just the fear and realization of that can be scarier than being lost for a lot of people, there would be no peace at that point.. day or night.
Damn. This hurts my soul. I hope one day she is able to be with her family’s souls again.
What unfortunate poor people, to hire this individual to guide them on their vacation, giving him the opportunity to take advantage of their innocence! And what a girl, to be able to give them justice.
My father sailed from the bahamas with that guy on a sailboat..when he heard this in the news years later, he knew immediately what happened.
I think i have video of my dad telling the story of that sailing trip.
@@craftyviking5654 good grief, no wonder your father remembered him!!
I absolutely love your channel and how you give a different twist to the true crime genre with these stories of amazing heroics from survivors and how you piece together the stories of how things get solved. ❤ While the things the suspects do in these stories is horrible, you shine a light on how people can fight through and persevere
Terrifying for her, I wonder what her relationship was with the ocean after this ordeal
It covers it in the last 5 minutes. She says the ocean saved her.
I'm so glad you made it for another of reason's. You put a stop to a sick killer. For that you should proud. You lived through one if my biggest nightmares.
Big bodies of water are so powerful. I live in Michigan were lake superior almost got me but was saved by my sister.
I wish you the best.

Old time radio stories would be fun for you. Try listening to Johnny Dollar
I remember reading about this case in a Sunday supplement, not long after it happened. I'm so glad that this survivor made it, and went on to do something with her life.
This is a lot longer than the other coverage I saw. Can't remember which channel. It's nice to hear what happened to her.
Nice to hear she survived
Unbelievable what she went through, how her life changed because of one evil person.
Best true crime channel on RUclips. Hands down.
When I heard she could only sit on that raft with her feet dangling in the water, the fear of sharks came to my mind.
I just keep picturing my own daughter being in that situation and oh my God I don't understand how she even had a clear enough mind to untie the knots on the safety boat ..one amazing little girl wow..
So sad for this poor girl to stay at sea for 4 days before being rescued? But what about little Renee? Where was she at? And how did she end up with Julian Harvey in his life raft?
He kept the baby who could not speak so when rescued he'd look like her. Pure evil.
I'd say he drowned Renee and put a life jacket on her to make it look like he had tried to save her.
she wasnt in the raft with Julian Harvey - she was in a completely different raft - the video clearly says this.
@@carynwakelin2494 I meant her sister Renee. Wasn't she in the same room as Terri?
@@carlg.7882 I apologise Carl - I misunderstood your question. I assumed Renee must have been upstairs at the time with the rest of her family except for Tere.

I feel she was close to death when she was telling us about her dream at 10:13 , had she not jumped into the water.
Harvey had madness in his eyes in all of the pictures
Wow, this is an incredible story. What an inspiration, her parents would have been so proud of her.

That literally just made me cry... And then she said she looked for her dad until she was 35 before she accepted it... Wow...

This is actually a wonderful motivational story...talk about surviving against all odds!
Ridiculous how that raft was made.. not even joking, I'd rather die in the sinking than be stuck on a raft that is just interlaced rope.. 😬 what even is that..
when we go through terrible traumas like she did we can use what we went through to help others. bless her beautiful heart
This lady is a beast for sure! So strong at such a young age!
Very strong and wise! So beautiful, that she is working to protect the ocean!! ❤️
That background music is so annoying!! This is such a tragedy but some people think we need music to be able to understand this distressing story.
RIP poor people.
This is so inspirational. I really am so moved by this story. I wish I vould have an ounce of her strength.

Wow, that's one hell of a life story. She is as brave as hell. Hope she had a great life. ♥️🙏💞
-Rachel
Thank you, well done. What an amazing woman.
I was just thinking about this story yesterday. She spoke about dolphins circling the life raft and scaring the fish that were biting her toes away. The odd this is that when the crew rescued her they spoke about sharks circling her raft.
In the beginning it said he had the youngest child with him. Did they explain how/why or did I misunderstand?
That is my question too....
They didn't explain that part. I'd guess he took Rene with him to make it look like he tried to save her. It would seem less suspicious than being the only one who made it to the dinghy.
Amazing story, Terry Jo is a remarkable woman, I wish her well and may she be in good health all the days of her life 🕊🤲🏻🕊
Her smile melts my heart.

" the will of the devine" was not concerned with those that died?
@@lynnbaker2336 how would you know? Just saying it doesnt make it so. Words are just words.. empty opinion.
@lisaaustin1042 well, intelligent reasoning would assume that, if God saved this girl, then he allowed the others to perish.
