@dave shif It's actually cos at 13 the brain is in its best shape and with full count of neurons, which after that age don't produce neurogenesis, meaning no new neurons are formed, that is why his brains were that efficient, which not too many older people's brains ( cos the brains are losing neurones all the time, except for working memory, at least for most of people ) could perform.
They should've locked up the friend who shot him as well. He went on to become a pedo, amongst other crimes we probably don't know about. He sexually assaulted a 15yr old, who knows how many other people he has made victims. After all this, he only got 12yrs in prison for the sexual assault.

She somehow made it up the cliff and onto a highway. It isn’t a knock at people who die; I’m 100% certain I would give up. I don’t think it’s divine intervention. That suggests a higher power allowed those who didn’t survive to senselessly succumb to torture and murder. I genuinely believe people like Thad and Mary are wired differently. Life lesson for them: Life/health/doing the RIGHT thing ALWAYS comes first than money! Money would not even exist without these things in the first place.
Not only that but Joe Clark himself is still repeating that same fiction. Like seriously? His little crime notebook was found! It’s impossible for someone to break your own bones like that. Unless you’re extremely mentally ill, your brain will not let you hurt yourself like that.
His little whimpers…poor baby boy I can’t even begin to imagine the amount of pain he went through. This genuinely made me so mad, I hope that monster rots.

It never fails to suprise me of how people can survive being tortured and still have the energy to escape, but many things are possible if your going to die if you don’t escape

Amazing that this kid went through all of this at such a young age and found the courage to survive is a testament to his will and character.

I’m so glad you elected to cover this. I don’t feel there is enough coverage of this case, and what is out there is all the same. There was a man working on a podcast and actually got interviews with both Thad Phillips and the perpetrator, but it eventually fell by the wayside and his podcast went a totally different direction. I would love to read those interviews, though. It’s appalling that the original coroner failed to identify all of those broken bones. By declaring it a drowning of undetermined cause, and by failing to complete a competent autopsy, it placed that “drowning case” at the bottom of the list of investigations - if it even made the list at all. Even with the Steiners being told that the perpetrator was involved, the police weren’t even calling it a murder and didn’t know that the bones were broken. So he was involved in… what? It just makes me feel awful for the Steiner parents and, most of all, for Thad Phillips. That coroner failed everyone in this case.
@@indyford3531 the presumption of drowning was a reasonable one, but we don’t rule on a presumption. The coroner should have done full-body X-Rays, at a minimum, as part of their death investigation ; had that simple and typical step been followed, there would have been much greater action taken on the case.
@@mydyisgod I don’t remember how long the perpetrator had lived in the area, but if he’d been there long then there is every chance that his other two alleged victims were overlooked by the very same ME.

He's extremely lucky that he still has his legs. I was a military medic, years ago. Some guys were playing football on an astroturf field, on our base. One guy's boot got stuck in the turf, and dislocated his ankle. One medic turned up, realised he had no pedal pulse, and had to, with help, pop his ankle back into place. If she hadn't have reset it, he would have lost his foot. That is just a dislocation. I cannot imagine the damage done to Thad's blood vessels, with those injuries.

From what I could find online, the "shot twice in the back" part was with a BB gun, not a firearm. That same guy is now in prison for SA on a child, though.
Right?! And in the beginning, they say they heard from gossip it was Joseph Clark, but the police “had exhausted all leads” without even bringing Joseph in for questioning?

Thad Phillips saved the lives of at least 8 other boys, by surviving the torture of that maniac Joseph Clark. Thad is a hero! Thad, the limp you suffer with today because of your horrible ordeal, don't look upon it as a constant reminder of that nightmare, wear it proudly as your badge of courage! May Chris Steiner and the other two or more victims, rest in peace.
The fact he can even walk again at all is amazing. Proof of his strength and the incredible skill of medical professionals.

Not only that but a broken hip too!
The bone breaker. That word will forever haunt me, this is terrifying I have to idea how he got out of that situation I would never be able to do that he is a real fighter. A fighter that will never stop fighting

It isn’t a knock at people who die; I’m 100% certain I would give up. I don’t think it’s divine intervention. That suggests a higher power allowed those who didn’t survive to senselessly succumb to torture and murder.
I genuinely believe people like Thad and Mary are wired differently. Their determination to live - and making it happen - cannot be explained. It’s truly incredible.
I’ve never heard of this case. My god the strength in him to survive is admirable. So glad he survived that horrific ordeal.
Right? And saved all the other people to be victims, too. Amazing spirit in that boy.

This boy is an incredible heroic survivor. I first heard of him on A&Es I survived which is free on RUclips. They have the entire series including this story. Thad saved many people from becoming a victim to this sick person. I survived is a very respectful show where Thad tells his story in his own words.
Mentally as well as physically .
I hadn’t either. It has to be even more awful for his family knowing that he was very near his home.😢

how in the hell could he have twisted and broken his own bones?!? that’s just stupid! the outrageous lengths attorneys will go to try to help their clients is astounding.
Life lesson for them:
Life/health/doing the RIGHT thing ALWAYS comes first than money!
Money would not even exist without these things in the first place.
F the attorneys
Not only that but Joe Clark himself is still repeating that same fiction. Like seriously? His little crime notebook was found! It’s impossible for someone to break your own bones like that. Unless you’re extremely mentally ill, your brain will not let you hurt yourself like that.
BUT THE WAY A KILLER IS BREAKING GODS CREATION
It was a stupid defence, plus what motive would he have to break his own bones?
His little whimpers…poor baby boy I can’t even begin to imagine the amount of pain he went through. This genuinely made me so mad, I hope that monster rots.
It's so sickening how one can do that without remorse. Even just acting it out! I feel so bad for him.. His whimpering also hurt me.. he seemed in so much pain, and I bet you he was. It's amazing how he didn't give up, and I'm so glad he didn't. Even with all the trauma he's still living his life, I'm very proud of him even though he doest know me. It's absolutely disgusting and disturbing.
This guy went through hell, and he tells us what happened with amazing strength. This is one hell of a survivor! I'm so glad he got away. You're amazing. Most wouldn't survive this! How isn't this a horror film? That was one badass kid. The potential that was stolen from him is crazy. The mental toughness he had as a kid is as good as any special forces men I've heard of.
This would make a great movie. Thad is a hero you want to get behind. Then to see at the end, “based on a true story” people would be blown away.
You have to have a pretty sick mind to WANT to watch someone being tortured. I had to skip some sections of this when he started describing his bones breaking

Misery
I don’t think other people’s real life trauma should be made into a horror film for others enjoyment that’s really sick
It never fails to suprise me of how people can survive being tortured and still have the energy to escape, but many things are possible if your going to die if you don’t escape
The adrenaline maybe gave him the strength
because they have a huge adrenaline boost.
Yeab adrenaline kicks in as well as instinct and the will to live. I also believe God gave him the strength. Its not a common thing getting tortured for two days then getting shot twice and him being so young. It is shocking because it was nothing less of a miracle. So happy you survived plus you are s hero Thad.

Didnt he die in 2013 of cancer in hospice care ?
@@jacobkudrowich No, that is a different person with the same name. This person who passed away in hospice care in 2013 was a 38 year old man born in 1974. Thad is a true hero and survivor. I have never felt this much admiration for someone's willingness to survive and try their best despite being in an extremely frightening painful situation. As a person who is diagnosed with severe depression and anxiety disorder, I have suicidal thoughts. But watching stories of survivor never fail to keep me motivated to stay alive. The pain I am having seems like nothing compared to these people's stories, especially Thad's story. You have my big respect, Thad!
Omg that poor kid. That brought a tear to my eye. This case is one of the most disturbing and sickening things I've ever heard of. I'd expect that Thad has some serious PTSD trauma from that ordeal. What toughness, what an absolute beast to survive it. If he was my son, I'd be proud beyond the ability to express it.
Could it be a lazy coroner since the boy Chris Steiner was found in the water?
My exact thoughts. This could have been avoided. Shame on that coroner
@@pembrokelove Aren't coroners and medical examiners two different things? Getting out of that situation with just a limp in the end is remarkable. I'm so glad he had the strength to escape and also walk again!
This guy is a real and undefeatable superhero. I‘m so happy that he survived and got through incredibly strong (the way it seems). He deserves all the best in the world.
I love that this channel celebrates the survivors and how justice was found in their cases (still most of the time not complete justice and not soon enough).
