Yes. It amazes me that an eight year old had the composure and people skills to pull this off. Shasta also must have had an incredible will to live in order to chose the gamble of trying to talk him out of strangling her rather than just asking to be shot after that monster murdered her whole family.
It made me cry when he said Slade used his final strength to be together with his Mom. They seem to be a really great family. Why in the world does this have to happen to them?

The part where Slade gathered strength to go to his mom to die by her side made me burst out in tears. The fear he felt and the feeling that he knows he’s also about to die found comfort in his mom’s lifeless body until the light of life leaves his body as well. May all of you rest in peace.
He was already a level 3 sex offender. Why was he out to begin with??? Those murders and her fate never had to happen. Blame the courts for allowing it.
literally! the system gives slaps on the wrist to sex offenders. they need to treat sexual assault/r***e as seriously as murder!! it makes me so sick and mad
It's disgusting that pedophiles are released to the public. The justice system doesn't care and they wait till they commit more crimes. I turned in someone for child porn and had a lot of evidence. Yet he was not arrested so the whole protecting children is bullshit. The justice system waits till the predator gets more victims and causes more harm.
Shasta was a genius in how she manipulated the manipulator! It’s truly a miracle she survived, not only the actually abduction and horrors she lived through, but that she didn’t even let the drugs and alcohol used to dull her inner trauma take her life either!!!! I’m so proud of her Praying for complete healing
She knew exactly what to do in that situation, it's insane, most adults can't handle a canceled flight... At 8 years old I was probably still eating crayons, while she had the composure to realized that being strangled might give her a chance to talk him out of that 🤯

Slade dying at 13 was heartbreaking, he’s barely entered his teen years and he’s been murdered and died a slow and painful death. I’ve seen so many cases of teens being murdered and as a teen myself, it’s genuinely horrifying to know. And the young children being fed drugs and alcohol makes it so much worse, Dylan being shot and murdered at 9 years old is horrific. This entire case is disgusting. That man is a sick sick man and should have never been released after his first count of S/A. They looked like such sweet kids, Slade and Dylan looked like they could grow up to be beautiful men and that disgusting man Joseph took that away from them. He traumatised Shasta at such a young age, who would ever even think of doing something like that.
Reminds me of Elizabeth Smart, who also survived her abductor through manipulating her captor at fourteen into bringing her back to her home town where she knew that she would be recognized and outsmarted him. It's incredible that Shasta had these instincts as such a little girl. So intuitive, so strong and brave.
How did a judge put Shasta in a correctional centre for substance abuse especially after knowing what she had been through, but the court system let a level 3 sex offender walk the streets? WTF???!!!!
And yet the USA has 20% of the world's prisoners, multiple times more than any other nation. Makes you wonder what for. "Home of the free," my eye. Prisoners to a prisoner nation.
Happens all the time. People who were put in jail for having weed were still in jail serving their sentence AFTER weed was legalized where I am. Since emotional abuse and sexual abuse is something that kids don't really know how to explain and it makes it easy for offenders to get away with. Since sexual abuse has only one real way of being proven, through tests like vaginal swabs being the only clear cut evidence- It's normally word against word in court. My abuser got away without being put on a registry, having his life unaffected completely because I can no actual proof. It was only my word against his, and since the court doesn't take word as proof- I lost.
The fact she keeps in contact with the random guy from the restaurant who alerted the waitress and the investigators is so fricking sweet and wholesome omg
well he was obviously starved of attention as a child, so her saying "oh i love you, your my dad" was giving him attention or love he never got before. but the fact an 8 year old did it is wild, she's really smart
These sex offenders should NEVER be let out of prison! This was preventable! What an atrocity. Whoever let him out bears some responsibility. It was known he was a predator from a young age.
A guy from work would say, "Into the woodchipper you go, legs first", but personally I think that's too messy, and at some point corrupts the person doing it. I'd be just as content as them getting two in the chest one in the head, and being put in the ground.
Nah…that’s too humane . Throw them in general population where they will get torn from limb to limb . Only a tortuous painful death is appropriate for pedos

The whole situation is beyond heartbreaking. But what I also found heartbreaking is how she was in a correctional facility as a teenager relating to her drug use. It just reiterated how incredibly flawed our system is. Despite her history, her pain, her trauma, her PTSD- she was still punished for merely trying to lessen her pain. The courts aren’t trauma-informed by any means, rather than getting her the help she needed they punished her for self medicating her own trauma. I find it both incredibly disturbing & ironic that a child who was severely traumatized by the murder of her entire family + being sexually abused, was locked up in a correctional facility, meanwhile the very man who had inflicted such horrific damage upon her was released from prison (prior to) murdering her family and kidnapping her. The very system that punished her for her addiction in response to her trauma, is the same system that allowed this predator back out on the streets which ultimately resulted in what he did to her in the first place. The system created a situation in which this man victimized further children, and then punished the victim as she struggled to cope years later. She was just trying to survive the pain she was going through. Gabor Mate made a statement that I think fits here: “Addiction is not a choice that anybody makes; it's not a moral failure. What it actually is: it's a response to human suffering.” Being sober for 6 years myself now, I’m so proud of her that she was able to overcome that. She had unimaginable hurdles thrown at her at such a young age, and yet she SURVIVED in so many more ways than one ❤️ she survived what he did to her and her family, and she’s continued to survive every single day since. That’s the definition of a true survivor. Her strength is an inspiration and I hope she continues to heal & thrive.
When they said correctional facility, I thought they meant rehab. This is so hurt breaking, why would they send her to jail as if she hadn't been through enough already.
I agree with you 100% our system is broken end filled with holes. It’s all built to drain wallets which is why wealthy people and businesses can get away with much more. They have more resources to bait out the system.
I remembered when this happened. Police kept alluding to the parents and older brother being killed because of drugs....it was all about drugs.....then they actually found out what had really happened. It really pissed me off bc if the guy had been imprisoned like he should have been, this never would have happened.
The police are crooked. Remember when they brought a little boy wandering the streets of Milwaukee late at night with a bleeding anus back to Jeffrey Dahmer who later killed him? They want these horrible criminals running around as a scapegoat and distraction from the horrible crimes they support the elites doing and do themselves. That cop complaining that he is up at night worrying about these children, sure, sure. I have my doubts. The people in the community saved this girl not the cops. The cops are cop outs.
I guess this is a "catch-22". You can't lock EVERYBODY up FOREVER, EVERY TIME. Jail is supposed to be rehabilitation. It's a hard call in so many cases. I do feel so horrible about this case. So So sad.
I lived in the town where this happened. On the day of the kidnapping, the parents were having a huge party...lots of people that liked to "party"........he was able to snag them without anyone noticing because there were so many people at the party........
The fact that she was able to survive the strangulation with quick thinking and manipulation is insane. Its something you would assume to only be part of a movie when the main character is almost dead but just scrapes by at the last second.
Y’all talking about Slade but all I can think about is Dylan :((( the entire family suffered so much, I can’t imagine how traumatized she was watching Dylan, the person she was closest too, die in front of her. Slade and the parents just wanted to protect them and they got murdered, then Dylan got assaulted and murdered right in from of his sister, it's so cruel I can't believe someone could do such a thing, they all had lives that were token away, the surviving girl probably has survivors guilt as well, I feel so bad.

@@navi8295 Thx love my boy Leon in your pfp but sadly, this would've never happened if he stayed in jail the first time. I saw the culprit was already an offender and was given a second chance, old laws used to give sex offenders three strikes, so cruel. Once an offender, abuser, etc, always one. I know from experience, an abuser will always be an abuser. If you give them more chances they'll continue to do it. Poor girl, I couldn't imagine knowing my main family was murdered because the law was too forgiving. Luckily she petitioned for the Slade and Dylan's Law so that offenders don't get any chances. They instantly go to prison once found guilty.
This part is always confusing to me, because there is this version and another one in which it's not mentioned the squirrel game but she says that she was on one side of the Jeep and Duncan and Dylan on the other, so she could not see the nature of the first shot but she remembered that Duncan was apparently looking in a large transparent box for some beers and that apparently the shotgun that was also there went off. When the first shot rang out she ran over and saw Dylan screaming and begging for his life and Duncan telling Shasta that it was an accident and then what you said in the video happened. After the fatal shot Shasta remembers Duncan was crying and he told her again that he didn't mean to and he shot him again so he wouldn't feel any more pain. Maybe by that time he had grown attached to the children and truly regretted it or maybe not and it was truly on purpose (at least the first shot, even Shasta wasn't sure). It was days later that he made the ultimatum to Shasta I'm with you, I really wanted both of them to survive and I can't stand the fact that maybe (in the case it was accidental) he would have survived

Right, I would choose to be shot. If I was forced to... Also, for some reason predators are more tough and attack primarily the boys, which is weird and I feel is uprooted to the violence that some males endure from their parents while growing up. Sometimes these people are falsely accused by a ticked off person trying to get revenge on someone. I know of such a case in CO. He ended up in prison for almost 10yrs. Before this girl told a counselor what she had done. If you give them a death sentence for a first offense, this guy would not be alive today. Living free once again.
Oh trust me, when people in prison find out about pedophiles, they pretty much near kill them. There was actually a guy who was a prisoner and murdered an inmate, admitted and was happy that he was dead because he touched children and killed them
Devastating story. Also devastating to hear that Shasta has been in and out of prison her entire life and dealing with drug issues. This tragedy definitely traumatized her.
She doesn't deserve to be in the same place as her abuser: jail/prison. She has severe ptsd and trauma and used drugs to cope like many others in the world. I truly believe drugs should be decriminalized. And I also believe that people struggling with addiction need different help than jail/prison. They need a rehabilitation therapy center. I get that drugs are illegal and that it's a crime but if you look into this issue it's much deeper than that. The system views things as black and white when life in reality is more grey and inbetween. Many people with drug issues are just struggling with untreated mental health issues and a lot of their addiction can be avoided or treated in the first place with childhood trauma screenings and trauma therapy. The reason this isn't happening now except in small areas where they are doing childhood trauma screenings, is because of the prison industrial system. They make money off of putting people in jail and prison. It also makes the population easier to control. Sometimes I honestly wonder if the leaders of the u.s. secretly want all humans in the u.s. to be incarcerated. It really feels that way sometimes. She shouldn't have gone to those places. She needed to go to a mental health and trauma inpatient hospital or rehab. I swear to God things do not have to be this way and us as u.s. citizens shouldn't put up with it. People with drug offenses shouldn't be put in the same place as rapists and murderers, but they are and it's not right. We all know that. Something needs to change and change soon. What happened to her should not happen to others. It's common for victims of severe trauma to use drugs so instead of punishing them we should be working towards healing and curing them.
I don't see her time in a correctional facility as a prison. It was drug-related and it seem to have helped her to become a productive adult. However, in cases like Shasta, it is common to turn to drugs and alcohol because of PTSD (anything to numb the pain, there should be some other type of facility for one reason as being labeled as her abuser and a killer. IMO
Yes, she's still with her husband and they have five children. She went through some sh*t with drugs/alcohol but is now using her experiences, I believe, as a counsellor.
When she said "He was my best friend" I was praying to God that she said was because he isn't anymore and not because he died. It's so unfortunate, that this all started because they were just being kids, playing in their yard. Rest in peace Dylan, Slade, and their mother and step father.

yes thats true, i dont believe in god, but i think sometimes praying even when you dont believe can give you comfort. my nan had cancer, and my mom, even though she doesnt believe, prayed, and it helped her. sometimes relief can just help you get through it. thats part of why people take drugs, because of trauma@@Cycles42

If nothing else can convince someone that regular people NEED to be able to defend themselves, this surely could. Every time I hear one of these stories I wonder, "How can I protect myself and my kids?"... If only these people had had the tools, these would be very different stories indeed. 😕🥺😞
He also killed a California boy, Anthony Martinez, grabbing him right off the street in front of the children Anthony was playing with. The kids gave the police such a good description, the composite sketch looked so much like Joseph Duncan, I don’t know how it took years and years to solve the case. If they could have, he might have not killed Shasta’s family and so many others.
If I killed him right there and then he wouldn't have done anything at all. It's the same as if you destroy something that is a threat , or hostile or dangerous. Examples like external sources of threats or internal source of threats. The conditions of this planet are compromised to a spatial level of conscious interference. It might as well be a veneer like North Korea has it's towns but at a planetary level. No one makes a splice in a lab or genetically modifies something and expects it to act natural, this is one of those cases.
I just found & read an article about Anthony's murder, so incredibly sad and devastating for the families that monster took away, and it also fills so many of us with fear knowing there is such evil in the world that could attack our innocent children as they play in their own yards.
Cops are so useless. It's why we need to turn policing into a real job for real professionals with a degree and adequate training and psychological testing.
The fact that rapists and pedos get slaps on the wrist in the judicial system has never been lost on me. I being a survivor of multiple different rapes can’t stand the system. The fact that they would rather bang the book at someone selling pot, driving on a suspended, ect vs actual predators is astounding. My best friend raped me in high school, and they said they’d hate to ruin his future over a misunderstanding. Bro I was asleep n woke up to it. I hate the system.
People say Islamic law is barbaric, what is worser than this kind of person if he had been put to death for the first crime that he had committed, those family would’ve been alive buy now.
He was still a minor (15 year old) when he served time for raping prepubescent children. So it’s hard to keep him in prison and many would argue he could still be rehabilitated. The problem was the second time when he was arrested as an adult for raping boy. He should have never been granted bail which gave him an opportunity to become a fugitive.
Everyone there was smart and attentive. Moving to the door when he was about to leave, messing up the receipt on purpose, not saying anything aloud... All on the same wavelength. Human instinct is an incredible thing sometimes.

@Marty's 4x4 I think he meant some of the servers moved to block the door - in case - as a precaution. Similarly if there's a missing child in a grocery store, the clerks are told to block the exits, in case the child tries to leave. Even if their actions didn't necessarily have much of an effect in this situation. The fact every took all necessary precautions is what is awesome.

Shasta was forced drugs and alcohol… she later struggles with drugs and alcohol. This wasn’t her fault, it was trauma & an early introduction to substances.
Another thing I love about this channel is the fact that they cover the survivor’s lives after they’re rescued from these horrible incidents. People seem to forget that there isn’t always a “happy ending” for these survivors. Their lives continue onward, and they need to somehow pick the pieces up from there… so happy Shasta has been able to finally achieve a seemingly peaceful life now.
Although I agree, as a viewer that is great content. At the same time, just as she mentioned in the video. As a teenager she wished to not get recognized. Consider living a life, where people you don't know, constantly reminds you of the worst thing that ever happened in your life. If you think about that, then even contacting them and asking for a follow up on your life because you are making a video about them, might be a little much to put on their plate.
I worked with inmates. I had to supervise them and take them to and from jail. They were mostly in for drugs or child support, but every once in a while they’d send out a pedophile. When I found out I sent them right back. But most were in for failure to register, which just shows that they are sneaky and can’t stop themselves. You’re right, they should never be let out. And the sentences they get are so light, while someone else was in prison for using drugs.

I have read about some of the horrific things he did to them both but mostly Dylan. He made Dylan and Shasta perform sex acts on each other while he watched. But if that wasn't sick enough...it's my understanding he video taped some of the acts. He hung Dylan with a wire around his neck until he passed out and masterbated. Then he let Dylan go...when Dylan would wake up..he would wake up screaming because he was horrified at what the man had to him but also horrified that he was still alive. I'm sure there is even more things done to them that I don't even want to think about.

Truly a heartbreaking case. She is a smart and brave little girl. It's so insane that a man that is a level 3 sex offender can just be out and about loving his life with noone keeping track of them or nothing. Idc if it's your first time being charged or not. If you are charged doing stuff to kids, you should never be allowed out of prison period.
Google your zip code in Sex Offender Registry be horrified at the men and women near your school, stores and children. Then contact all parents get them to call local Radio/ TV newspapers and courts to demand these people be removed and cases reviewed. Once a PEDOPHILE / SEX OFFENDER ALWAYS wanting/planning to do MORE HARM. We CAN'T wait until they get caught AGAIN by then there is a VICTIM that NEVER should have been HURT or KILLED.
I always check up on Shasta from time to time. I've never forgotten her. She has such a rough deck given to her. She is still suffering so much. I wish her peace and healing in time so that this depraved beāst doesn't have any hold over her. I hope she knows that many are rooting for her and empathize with her around the world.
I hear about this all the time. I live near CDA, Idaho and my grandpa was friends with the father of Shasta and Dylan. May they all rest and peace, and bless Shasta’s heart.
Jurors... Are just like us... They are given the hardest task... Listening to information, and to different versions of the truth. The person responsible for the deeds has a version of Their truth... We can only pray... That The Truth is heard, the Right person judged, fairly, and punished accordingly...
I served on a jury for a gruesome murder when i was 21 (I thought it was 19 but have been told it was actually 21) I still have nightmares at 55 and can no longer serve jury duty as i have massive panic attacks. Jury duty is no joke
@@lissakaye610 Yep. I was thinking about that too. It's like with that Aiden Fucci Cheerleader Killing. He stabbed that girl 114 times. There was no trial since he pleaded guilty, but the judge had to look at the extensive photos of her wounds in order to determine his sentence. I was thinking, 'That's got to affect you for the rest of your life to see something like that.' And those are just still images. In this case, the jurors would have to watch video where they would see fear and pain in these childrens' faces. I mean, I would surely want to help convict this man, but being a juror in this case would have felt like I was made a victim of the crimes too. I really wouldn't want to see something like that.
Yes, I read an article that many of them were crying and became physically sick watching and listening to the recordings this monster made during his assaults of the young boy.
If only Slade had played dead. He might have survived too. The fact that he found the last of his strength to drag himself into the house to be with his mom just makes my eyes well up with tears. 😢 That poor, poor family. I was desperately hoping her brother would survive with her, but I had a feeling he would be killed. Why was this evil piece of shit even out of prison to begin with? I swear, so many of these crimes would be preventable if only sex offenders were punished the way they should be!
He had to go west on the frontage road to get on I-90 to go east to Montana. You could see the house from the freeway. He said he saw Slade staggering around the front of the house but figured he was as good as dead and didn't bother going back.
No one is thinking when they are in survival mode. Plus he just saw his little brother and sister abducted. Maybe he was using the last of his strength to save them. Bless his heart. Such a terribly, heartbreaking story.
There is NO place in HELL for this monster as well. This is one of the most tragic stories I've come across. How Shasta stayed strong and never gave up hope during that horrific time is beyond me. RIP the family and the sweet little boy Dylan.
I think it'd be better if he roams purgatory. sentenced to watch everything naturally occur to no power of his own, not even in a trivial, physical way. Just observe until the heat death. I think that's what he deserves.
I've always said theres no hell hot enough for people who inflict suffering onto children, it's so senseless. I cant wrap my head around it. What do you mean youd do such a horrific thing... to bust a nutt? Or to scrap a few dollars? How could you?
There absolutely is a place in Hades and then Gehenna for him. He is in a fire now, in torment. He will be cast into a Lake of Fire on Judgment Day, there to suffer eternal destruction. He didn't get away with his atrocities even a little. All who die outside of Christ will be cast into Gehenna. Eternal life has already been paid for for all who will put their faith in Jesus .
He clearly underwent his own trauma. A a completely evil psychopath does not feel remorse and would have strangled her in a heartbeat. He kept her alive and was easily manipulated by a child, suggesting he does harbor passion and empathy of an insecure and broken person. Most likely was abused as a child and suffered isolation from the decades of confusion. A 15 year old molesting other children clearly learned such behavior. When he took out her brother after he had successfully hunted a squirrel, it seemed like he was aware and guilty of the sexual damage he had done on the boy, and quickly took him out in a moment the boy's last thoughts was relief.
i gotta say i have a lot of respect for this account and having constant respect and understanding that the victims are people and never going into too much detail when it comes to the crimes committed on these people. It keeps these people from becoming what was done to them and more of who they are, were and became. It’s amazing. It makes me really emotional ill be honest, hearing people talk about what happened to them and you guys having a respect for them. Its really amazing you dont see that much anymore.
This behavior coming from an 8 year old is crazy. In arguibly the worst situation a person could be in she not only had the courage to comfort her brother, but to also play nice and pretend while remembering other victims. Shes amazing
Shasta was always a sweet, quiet little girl. I always wondered if she remembered me but I use to push her on the tire swing at recess a lot. She was usually by herself on the tire swing or waiting for it. Dylan was in my little sister's class for 2 years and they became good friends. I have a lot of memories of all 3 of them.
@@Newdawn80909 I think the person meant that she was able to have a good life bc when Shasta said everything happens for a reason that's why she was able to turn her life around, get married, and have children. Obviously she will never recover, but she was able to live through the trauma.
well she's been in & out of jail for most of her life, including a misdemeanor for injuring a child so..... i wouldn't say she's had a good life. it's very obvious thiis completely screwed her up.
@@cryspbacon just to clarify she didnt put her hands on the child it says the charges for injury to a child are for endangering them by leaving drugs very close to them. its a terrible situation and we all know society isnt setup in a way to help traumatized people. may she be given the strength and support needed to carry on with her family
Oh man hearing about how he tricked them by saying if they could catch a squirrel he would let them go breaks my heart. That is incredibly hard to do, especially for an 8 year old. I assume that is why he made that challenge. He thought there was no way they would accomplish it. I can't imagine how happy they must have been to pull the task off, only to immediately be let down by finding out he lied to them. It's so hard for regular people to wrap our heads around the fact that there are people who are this evil out there. Doesn't make any sense that someone could be so cruel.
Her marrying and having kids with the man that was related to the girls that she heard stories about being murdered is crazy to me. It’s such a little detail, but it’s insane to me like the world so small or it was just fate like I wonder how she felt when she found that out
The fact that he just mercilessly killed Shasta’s entire family… how can you be so sick, and so evil? There is a special place reserved for him. Rest in peace Mark, Brenda, Slade, and Dylan. I hope only good things come Shasta’s way.
Nick Chadwin, the waitress, and every staff at the restaurant are all heroes for Shasta. The resilience and courage of an 8 yr old Shasta is a virtue that many of us adults need to learn from.
What a sad sad tragic story. Shes amazing and brave and im so glad she took down this evil monster. Unfortunately all these horrific experiences not surprisingly had its toll mentally for this girl and shes been in trouble since then :( I really hope she can turn around her life and also get the proper help she needs.
Seriously, I'm big into rehabilitation, I believe people can change, all of that... but sadistic, violent crimes against children? There is no fixing that. You can learn not to be racist, you can learn not to be all kinds of things, but learning not to take pleasure in the abject terror, pain, and grief of little children? I don't think that can be done. Some people are just rabid dogs.
What a highly intelligent, brave, resilient girl. She witnessed unimaginable horrors and endured a horrific situation herself. Yet she dug deep and found the strength to outwit this disgusting monster. I’m glad that she’s recovering from this unfathomable experience.
Recovery can be a lifetime matter, or like a Buddhist mental heath practitioner here in Ohio once said, "Recovery might take more than this lifetime." THAT hard is to recover from radical evil.
Imagine after all that she had been through, managing to talk down that monster from killing her literally whilst strangling her & getting the same monster to bring her back home at just the tender age of 8 years old. What a miracle! So glad she finally got her life back on track after understandably succumbing to the mind-numbing pain she had survived as a child. May she find peace & joy with her husband & beautiful children.
Idk but i cant stop thinking about Dylan :(. My heart as a mother. Imagine holding your brother lifeless body and helped burying him. I cried while watching.
What a brave and intelligent girl. PTSD, I know that personally - I'm glad that Shasta has been able to turn her life around and not stay fixed on the horrific crime that was done to her and her family. RIP to her family.
I'm healing from C-ptsd now, too.....from a 14 year long marriage to a monster. 😢 It's hard as hell...the triggers, the flashbacks that pull me from the present and shove me back into memories of heartbreak and horror. Right! It has been proven for a while now that these peoples brains are wired different. They will NEVER change. They may, in jail. But after they will be confronted with the things they 'desire'🤢... they will do it again in the end.. They should be locked up forever, because they honestly don't have control over this shit. Just like we don't have control over who we feel atracted to. Again it has been freaking proven, so why are these people still being released on a daily basis..?

Since emotional abuse and sexual abuse is something that kids don't really know how to explain and it makes it easy for offenders to get away with. Since sexual abuse has only one real way of being proven, through tests like vaginal swabs being the only clear cut evidence- It's normally word against word in court.
Gabor Mate made a statement that I think fits here: “Addiction is not a choice that anybody makes; it's
not a moral failure. What it actually is: it's a response to human
suffering.”
Being sober for 6 years myself now, I’m so proud of her that she was able to overcome that.
It's truly people like you who she be our politicians and leading the country, what a clear and concise summary of this atrocity
I agree with you 100% our system is broken end filled with holes. It’s all built to drain wallets which is why wealthy people and businesses can get away with much more. They have more resources to bait out the system.
Congratulations on your sobriety, I completely agree with you

It was days later that he made the ultimatum to Shasta
I'm with you, I really wanted both of them to survive and I can't stand the fact that maybe (in the case it was accidental) he would have survived

Bruh this shit got me in tears 😭 I was ten years old in 2005 I’ve never heard of this story Til now.

IMO

If I killed him right there and then he wouldn't have done anything at all. It's the same as if you destroy something that is a threat , or hostile or dangerous.
My thought exactly. I also wish he had played dead. Totally heartbreaking. 💔
He had to go west on the frontage road to get on I-90 to go east to Montana. You could see the house from the freeway. He said he saw Slade staggering around the front of the house but figured he was as good as dead and didn't bother going back.
Yeah…
My thoughts exactly.
Oh, but there is. That is where this creep is now. Probably in one of the hottest parts.
I haven't cried this hard over a case in a long time. I'm so happy she was able to have a good life.
you are a cry baby wah wah wah
her life is far from “good” you don’t EVER recover from this no matter what you or others tell yourself
I would of been over
I wouldn't make it 11:38
It made me sick
Yes it does, his mind is sick and twisted.
It was already so heartbreaking...only if he was convicted for his previous crimes rightfully Such sick people out there
Her marrying and having kids with the man that was related to the girls that she heard stories about being murdered is crazy to me. It’s such a little detail, but it’s insane to me like the world so small or it was just fate like I wonder how she felt when she found that out
They shared a common experience to relate with
What horrors some people are exposed to! This little girl was a hero, and was incredibly smart to manipulate that evil man.
People discount how brave and crafty a child can be. Those pieces of crap who think a child is easy prey better wise up.
@@jeweltorkelson sadly, too often they are.

What a sad sad tragic story. Shes amazing and brave and im so glad she took down this evil monster. Stop letting child molesters and killers out of jail !
Its even worse here in the UK
Throw the key away
Seriously, I'm big into rehabilitation, I believe people can change, all of that... but sadistic, violent crimes against children? There is no fixing that. You can learn not to be racist, you can learn not to be all kinds of things, but learning not to take pleasure in the abject terror, pain, and grief of little children? I don't think that can be done. Some people are just rabid dogs.
@@janerecluse4344 yea like you can "change" but also who changes like that-
What a highly intelligent, brave, resilient girl.
She definitely was in survival mode. I am proud of Shasta for how she handled herself. She outwit out played.
Unfortunately she's not doing great in life.

RIGHT, some people born to be demons and that's just a fact
It's just incredible that somebody could watch their entire family get murder in front of them and still be able to try to have a good life. What an amazing person.
So thankful she was rescued. Pray she'll be healed though I know she can never forget.
My father was murdered shortly before my 20th birthday, I'll never forget the crime scene.
That's awful. So sorry for your loss and that experience.

I am a grown man crying watching this tragedy. I remember this story but didn't know all the vile details. God bless you Shasta. You are a strong amazing person. Your 1000 times the person I am. I hope only great things for you.
Dude, you're a "man", and you're crying? Pussy.

I hope that Shasta is doing better now. Bless her heart. Traumatic loss forever breaks something inside. I can’t imagine losing my whole family at such a young age.
I'm still trying to understand why a level 3 sex offender is allowed to roam the streets freely. She should not have gone through this horror in the first place. I just hope she's able to heal totally from this nightmare the court caused her 😢
