Jeanette is such a hero in my eyes. She is so brave and strong, who knows what could've happened if she didn't fight as hard as she did. and even after all this trauma, the most important thing to her is how everyone else felt. she says "i got my family back" after going through torture that many of us can't even imagine. She is such an inspiration.

She grabbed her underwear bc she knew how much it mattered in S/A cases and she wanted him to pay for his crime. She knew that it wasn't her fault. I'm much older than she was here, still coming to terms with my own trauma, and this made me want to cry. She and the detective are heroes. Their quick thinking definitely saved a lot of other children.
That part really got me. That she was repeatedly assaulted and had the strength to keep this piece of evidence instead of completely breaking down. Even adults would struggle to have that clarity of thought at a time like that. I am so sorry that you were subjected to cruelty that you did not deserve, that no one deserves. I’m so sorry that you carry with you the pain and trauma that should not belong to you. I really hope that you are able to find a way to work through that trauma to the point where it doesn’t affect you significantly every day. I know that it never goes away like it never happened, as much as it should, but I have heard that it is possible to process it and put it as behind you as much as it’s humanly possible. And I hope that day arrives for you soon. I have complex PTSD that has crippled me to the point where I can no longer work, or leave the house much, or be the kind of mother and partner I want to be. Many times I have wanted to give up because I didn’t think it was possible to heal from that level of trauma that went on for so long. I thought that that was going to be my forever. But recently I have tried a bunch of different therapies with various results, and through psychotherapy in particular I have been able to process some of the trauma to the point where it didn’t have the same visceral impact that it did before. I wish EMDR worked for me, and I hope that I’ll get to try MDMA/psilocybin assisted therapy one day soon, but those therapies have been really affective for many PTSD and cPTSD sufferers to permanently treat their symptoms and get on with their lives. I hope you have the means to look into trauma therapies and can get the support that you need to heal. ♥️♥️
I'm here for you 🖤 We never fully heal from it, we just learn to cope with the damage from it. The justice system doesn't understand it the same as victims do. I feel like I lost a part of me I never met or enjoyed. I appreciate the support I read in the comments and never met you any of you. 🖤
Honestly...even at 26, I can't imagine having that smart of thoughts. I have severe cptsd, severe anxiety and chronic depression (other undiagnosed stuff too more than likely) and I would probably just shut down and accept I'm powerless after I've been through repeated SA's :( I'm genuinely amazed at how strong she was and how much of a fighter she was. It's such a harrowing situation especially at 9 years old...I was 4-7 from my first SA accounts from my own brothers and I couldn't understand the situation until I was well into my teen years...
@@benamisai-kham5892same here. I’m so proud of her and just amazed that she was strong enough to make it through that, especially at how old she was. I don’t think I’d be able too.
The mom saying “I didn’t protect her” is what really got me. The brother and the mother were both there fighting to save Jannette and ended up so badly beaten that he was able to get away with her. Jannette was and still is a little bad ass though. Getting composed enough to think to gather evidence and hiding evidence under the bed in a pizza box? Girl. Good on you and your whole family.
I agree. I think she meant "couldn't" protect her, but the message was the same: guilt for not being able to protect her child. I cannot imagine the grief they all endured.
It saddens me that she might have still felt that way when Jeannette became traumatized and doesn't wanna go out. She might have had many sleepless nights seeing her daughter in that state. They are all a victim 🥺
I understand it's difficult for people's emotions to allow them to recognize why some emergency communication avenues require certain criteria, but they require those criteria for a reason. Saturating emergency communication avenues with missing reports that do not meet certain criteria could affect the urgency inferred by these communications in the future. If Amber Alerts were issued for every missing child (including, say, late-teenage runaways), they would be issued frequently in some areas, and people would start to become somewhat numb to them ("meh, prolly just another runaway") and maybe even neglect reading them when they alert. Restricting Amber Alerts to the most serious cases meeting required criteria (to include detailed suspect info that they can look out for) means people will know that they are urgent situations and they'll be willing to continue to react to them with the urgency they deserve. I have become somewhat skeptical of Amber Alerts since I've noticed some that were issued that didn't meet the criteria. But, since I post all local/regional missing reports to an FB Group, I do still read them all (though, if I didn't routinely post all area missings, I would likely not read all Amber Alerts or at least not with as much immediacy). Not issuing an Amber Alert does NOT mean no one is taking steps to find the missing subject. Like in this case, other avenues can be taken to get the word out - media, canvassing, search parties, etc.
It can be, but it also can be disastrous if they do. Because you are essentially highlighting to the suspect that they are not identified and can incentivize them to kill the child before they are identified. They should have more, like a vehicle description and license plate. That way there is more of a chance to catch them before they are aware of the alert and do something bad
@@popcorn5130 this CLEALRY doesn’t apply in this case… they OBVIOUSLY knew she was kidnapped. Not only was her family attacked they have footage of the car speeding away 🤦♀️ Like if that’s not enough for an amber alert that absolutely moronic The entire point of an Amber is to get the information out right that second …. Which could have meant someone recognise the car instantly - before he pulled into his house etc etc The amber alerts has saved thousands for that exact reason 😑 But cause they couldn’t see licence plate or know EXACTLY who did it they didn’t do an amber alert. That defeats the point of an Amber alert; To find them within the first 24 HRs which would save their lives … Not all states are like that! And the states who issue an amber alert instantly has highest success rates of saving the children So your points are stupid and misguided. Cause that’s the entire point of an Amber alert - if a kid is KNOWINGLY kidnapped… those added extra hours of going to the media could be that child could be killed before then .. Or the kidnapper could flea states, hide etc In most instances people recognise the car , child within an hour of their kidnap. I.e while they are within the same area of the kidnapping Which it was obviously clear SHE WAS KIDNAPPED
@@barbarella.artist I agree with you. A verified kidnap, aggravating features..known rape of a child..mother and sibling brutally attacked..certainly enough of a description including enough of the blurry pic of the car..level of brutality...all together and independently warranted an amber alert immediately. Hope that PD reviewed their policy, and maybe had a senior officer allocated for cases where a judgement call was needed. This case definitely was a top priority witnessed child abduction
Her mom may never be able to forgive herself for what she believes is a failure on her part but she did an amazing job as a parent. She raised an intelligent, capable daughter who became her own hero and a son who fought for his family. She raised a family of bad asses.
They all are extremely resilient people. The mother refusing to leave even with her conditioning declining until the paramedics had to FORCE her into the ambulance because she was going to keep going. The brother trying to attack the intruder TWICE despite taking a lot of hits to the face the first time. Both the mother and son not letting them being beaten bloody in the kitchen stop them from getting up and the mom chasing after the car while her brother went and got help. Then there is that badass, clever 9yo. She was not only stabbed (which, when watching I completely pushed out of my thoughts becasue of the other horrors she was going through, but she was assaulted repeatedly/horribly, calmed herself enough to manipulate her captor, gather evidence and HIDE the evidence right under the AHs nose AND remembered enough detail on top of that to get him pretty much captured as soon as he let her go. She did all that while in both mental and physical pain/distress (that required medical attention!). She is what my therapists would call resilient and Im glad she was able to get the therapy she needed to heal and is moving towards helping others and being advocates for others who are missing/experienced violence. If it wasn't for her ability to get him caught right away, who knows if he would have done this to another little girl (he most definitely stalked her/learned her routine to anticipate when she would alone, which is a very 'dedicated' or 'knowledgeable' predator who may have even done crap like this before, especially since him making her take showers after the assaults were 100% a tactic to remove the evidence left behind.) Overall imo she saved more than just her life when she was able to get free.
She tried and thats all that matters. Sure, she may have not been able to stop him. But she stayed brave. I hope she forgives herself one day, because she did what she could. Same with the brother. They all stayed brave and it payed off.
She took a frying pan bludgeoning. You can't say she didn't do everything she could so it's sad she is down on herself but that is just human nature of a good parent.
As a crime show addict, I find myself sometimes falling into a pit of sadness after watching so many victims getting brutally murdered. This channel covers stories that: 1) I've never heard before, and 2) the captives actually make it! Great job and great channel!
I loved True Crime until I came across child cases…I never trigger. I got triggered. It changed me for a bit. Finally getting back to watching, but I def have rules.
Even if it's just a break in that you didn't witness in person, knowing someone can invade like that leaves a toll. (Which is why it's terrible that some people try to protect thieves, pretending that wouldn't cause real harm to people)
She was doing what a good mother does, going to work to give them a good quality of life, so it's terrible that she thinks that she wasn't able to protect them. It's not her fault but I doubt she will ever fully recover from that feeling. Poor lady.
I almost got kidnapped at 9, I was roller skating outside, struggling to stand bc I was new, a man came up to me with a grin, asking me if I needed help, I said no but he grabbed my wrist, as soon as he did a another man came up to me, acting like my dad and helping me get away from him (I was sad when the guy said he was my dad bc I haven't seen my dad since I was 3)
Wow God bless that man. Thank God you are okay I pray God continues to protect you and also give you strength in whatever it is you go through in Jesus Christ's name amen
A reminder for me not to judge other parenting styles...I wouldn't let my 9 year old watch CSI or law and Order but those shows are a main contributer as to why this girl survived .
I was thinking the same thing! Like no way would I have let my child watch CSI at that age, but after hearing this case I’m like maybe it’s not such a bad idea 😖. I absolutely hate that children’s innocence are taken away so early, even by learning about these very real ‘monsters’ that walk among us, because of the perversion of a (significant) minority. My kids are much younger and I really don’t want to tell them about SA. But I have been having regular conversations with them about their private parts and why they mustn’t let anyone else touch them etc. Inevitably they ask “why”, a completely legitimate question - “what’s wrong with someone else looking at or touching them?” - kids that only stopped wearing diapers and getting their butt wiped by their parents and childcare teachers months ago. How do you even answer that 😞 Or how do you tell a 6 year old why they shouldn’t just trust any grown up, even a police officer, and what gut feelings are, and why they shouldn’t run out the front door to accept the package from the Amazon delivery driver… I absolutely hate that all of this is needed. I hate the people that ruins childhoods and people’s lives.
@@Liliarthan You can still protect a child's innocence while empowering them. I was not freaked out by murder, death even at the age of 6. I knew what those things were, and were warned many times about it and to never go with strangers and was schooled on what to do. People take for granted about children's resilience. Though when a child catastrophises it's usually because the parent catastrophises themselves and over dramatise the scenario more than it's needed. You don't need to explain SA to your child. you just need to tell your child that they will be hurt badly, more than they'll ever see on tv and could end up dead.
I totally understand. Every parent has so have age approciate talks and decide at which age certain programms are suitable for them. Mine certainly did edit Not watch it age 9. But not all children are the same either. Dangerous situations may come in the most inexpected ways. I remember my kids (boys) playing outside around our house with walkie talkies and at the time we thought nothing of it. Years later I encountered 2 little girls walking with their walkie talkie 's on as they walked by me on the street. Then I heard a man talking to them on their line. I immediately had that feeling of my hairs standing up. I signed to them and at their walkie talkie with my finger on my mouth to them to be quiet and then whispered to them, in their ears do you know this man? They said no they did not. I told them to turn the walkie talkies off. Then explained to them I was worried ( he gave me the creeps ) and asked if they lived nearby, thankfully they live only 1 street away so I told them I think your parents should know about this and asked if it was ok if I walked them home to explain the situation to their mother. Edit- I did not want to scare them and also think its not my place to have -that talk- with a stranger. They were glad I wanted to do that and their mom who was very very grateful. She had not thought of this possibility either. Maybe nothing would have happpened or it could be a creep with more sinister ideas. You never know. Yes its sad that children can not be brought up to be able to play outside as carefree as my generation could. But thanks to modern tv and the internet they also see and understand more than we did at such a young age. Nowadays as a parents and educator you have to learn about the many dangers online yourself and also teach and protect your children from that, often highly underestimated, danger too. Can't say I envy those parents.
Why not ? - its way better nowadays to make your own children sick by nowadays "child friendly" mainstreammedia gender and political programming right ? Get your Head straight... 80/90s Kids even watched things like Nightmare on Elm street as 10 - 14 year olds. Or think about "Dark Fairy Tales" before Modern Media - they for sure have their place even for Kids (=> BE AWARE OF PEOPLE) Most of "Kid Friendly Media" since the mid 2000s are political programming anyways - and give especially Kids the notion that every Human is good - Spoiler Alert: they arent As a Parent -especially also as a Father you should teach your Kids that "foreign people" what family belongs are "bad" and not trustable, one of the ways to teach that is that this "in general" known and not a restriction only from you as a parent. So imho - "GREAT" parenting what this thing belongs. But not enforced enough by the parents (since the girl opened the door)
My children are watching all the crime shows lol. That’s how I was taught about the world. My parents words didn’t have as much weight as they probably would have hoped, because I wasn’t seeing these things happen in real life. Watching a show where they deal with re-enactments of real cases was much more power for me. Helped me with my gut feelings and character judgment.
Her brother is THE MAN ! he knew he didn’t stand a chance and still fought with everything to defend her and his mother 😭 this family is so STRONG ! Mom, brother and Janet ! So so strong !
Incognito that wasn’t really an option there, he had already seen him and was going to go after him anyway so he fought. He couldn’t exactly call the cops either because the phone lines were cut

Considering all everything she knew she needed to do and only at age 9, I imagine she's going to excel as a detective. Having items with her for evidence, more in the pizza box, remembering his address, and phone number, and then directions when to turn left or right? Oh my at age 9! Brave, strong, and very smart!
Shows have important info in them if we pay attention. I'm crying amazed of her struggle and bravery. When she met up with the Detective that helped her I started sobbing.
San Diego is happy to have her. Maybe she can solve the cold case of a serial rapist who used to be stationed here on the #USSPrinceton (2005) and now works for Amtrak in Los Angeles? I have kept track of him, since the military denied justice for his victims.
When I was her age and embarrassingly, well into my teenage years, I would scream bloody murder, while paralyzed with fear when I saw a spider in my house. Her courage, intelligence, will to live and the ability to hold her own in pretty much *the worst* circumstance a young child could be forced into is unfathomable to me. She was and still is a true fighter. I’m amazed by her bravery.

Really appreciate the respect shown to Jeannette by skipping over the details of the assault. Most true crime can get so gratuitous. That’s the point at which I SUBSCRIBED
Me as well. I appreciate coverage where they keep in mind respect towards the interviewees. I feel like alot of media tend to just milk as much detail as possible to blow up.
@@trealin4730 I assume the uploader did it both for monetisation reasons and also out of respect. Honestly, plenty of True Crime influencers include details in monetised videos, so I’m going to guess it’s more for respect.
As a woman, it’s always my biggest fear for something like this to happen to me. I almost never see crimes of kidnapping happen with men. It is because women are physically weaker and easier to kidnap. Life is scary for a woman. So proud of Jeanett. She is amazing smart and strong, and I know if I were in her situation, I wouldn’t be able to do the same. Edit: yes, men can be victims too, but women are the overwhelming majority of rape and sexual assault victims. How often do men get catcalled? Or hide pepper spray to protect themselves when walking on the streets? Stop saying that women don’t have it worse. It’s a clear-cut truth. Saying women have it worse doesn’t mean men don’t struggle either - but we all know that women have it worse.
This is a tip for womens. If you have long hair that makes it easy. The kidnappers could grab your hair and pull you to them and do not wear anything rich because they would know you are rich. They would ask for money to free you.
Women are able to fight back, always fight back, we're not fragile barbie dolls. Who cares if we're born weaker, I always hear this excuse, you can train to be bigger and stronger if you really never give up. Not all men are as strong as you think, it's easy to catch them off guard if you fight back with all your anger and might despite being a woman. Lol have some self esteem women really..excuses make nothing better anyway. God bless you guys.

I feel sad how no one in the comment section talking about the brother? The amount of time he tried to protect her and even screamed to call the police to help his sister is so heartwarming
I was so proud for him when they said he opened the garage and went after the attacker. And then again inside. He was their protector and man of the house even as a teenager.
Man I lost it when the mother broke down at the fact she couldn’t protect her daughter. She got battered in the head with a frying pan, and still had the will to get up and CHASE the culprit’s car down the street, while screaming for help. You did an amazing job mama, and I hope you know that

I really love how this channel respects rape/SA victims by not graphically explaining their assaults, censor the graphic images/footage and also wait until the end of the video to advertise their sponsors when they have any, and don’t shove it in the middle of the video out of respect for all the victims in the videos, unlike many other true crime videos ive seen. I agree. It hurts my heart when people keep reposting things like fatal accidents or murders caught on camera to make commentary etc. Because the families have to keep re-living the trauma. My fam found out about our sister passing because someone who knew about her death, posted an R.I.P. post on social media before the immediate family had been notified. It was crazy.
He’s not covering it because he doesn’t want to be demonetized. If he was making videos for patreon or something he would for sure include all the details
I hope that her Mom let’s go of the guilt that she carries, she holds absolutely NO responsibility! He had to have been stalking her to know that she would be home alone. This is one of the most horrific situations I’ve ever heard. The fact that this woman was able to think so logically and tactically as a 9 year old child, is nothing short of incredible!! She is the definition of a warrior!!! I just want to give her, her brother & Mother a hug❤
Watching the mom cry over just wanting to protect her kids is heartbreaking. She must've felt so helpless running after that car knowing she wasn't fast enough. Such a strong little girl tho, going through what she went through and surviving.
I'm in tears. As a survivor who was assaulted in my early 20s, I know the fear that clutches you when you realize "this could be it." I used similar tactics to escape but I can't imagine being as brave as Jeanette was at 9 years old. At such a young age she accomplished what so many victims do not. Justice. So many of these stories end so tragically. I hate that this happened to her and her family in the first place, but I'm so glad that she could make it home and even bring her attacker to justice. Simply remarkable. Seeing the family smile together at the end made me so happy. I know Jeanette will accomplish her goals, and bring more hope to those who have none.
As the mother of a nine year old, I am often torn between wanting to protect her from the evils of the world and wanting to expose her so she can be smart and vigilant. This story makes the answer clear. This brilliant, strong and amazing child was clearly the product of excellent parenting. This whole family is an inspiration. May we all be so strong when we need to be.
I'm sure you are doing your very best as a mother. My mother worked 2 jobs, my brother was my father figure due to our father being absent, and my upbringing wasn't cookie cut. You can teach and expose your kids to as much as you think could one day help them, but overall they are children. I'm a mother now of a 3 year old, and I try and find balance on not letting my past affect her enjoying being a kid. I'm sure you are an amazing mother, and you are doing well💙
I’ve always felt it best to arm them with knowledge. We always hope for the best and pray that things like this don’t happen, but KNOWING they do offers a level of protection. They’re not naive to the dangers out there, and they know enough to be aware of their surroundings. I also want them to have their wits about them and be able to pay attention to what’s happening so they can fight back or look for opportunities to escape. If they’re unaware of people and how hateful they can be, panic is far more likely and that makes a bad situation worse. No one died but this case made me cry. What they went through, especially Jeanette is just a complete living nightmare. Being so close to her family what is safety and being ripped from them in broad daylight. It's terrifying and she is incredibly so incredibly strong.
There's levels to a guy criminality, he could of killed her family, she would of had less hope if she didn't hear her brother on the tv station or seen her mom alive before being taken and the how in the long drive, he let her go instead of buried her. It was really strong connection with her family that kept her going and high intuition to gain his trust and luck enough to let her go. It was really sad how the long drive she was thinking about the end while still holding on to hope.
I was so happy to see she was studying law enforcement, she's the kind of person we need out there, she's smart, strong, level headed, everything a community needs in a good officer.
Jeanette was a complete and total badass at only 9 yrs old, what a smart smart little girl. A little hero also I believe she saved other girls from what she went through.
I actually lived a few houses away when this happened. The media pretty much camped outside her home like how a celebrity would get swamped. It was surreal... I knew the mother where that black and white footage came from. She died a number of years ago from liver disease. She was a kind woman.... 😢
San Diego is happy to have her. Maybe she can solve the cold case of a serial rapist who used to be stationed here on the #USSPrinceton (2005) and now works for Amtrak in Los Angeles? I have kept track of him, since the military denied justice for his victims.
hearing her mom say “i can’t protect her from evil people” broke my heart! i feel so sad that this happens to wonderful people all over the world! i’m glad everyone made it though☺️
That momma raised 2 extreme brave kids, they got that from her. I feel so bad watching this but also very delighted that this family has won this disasterous event and live another day. Best of luck to all of you ❤
Absolutely. She raised two intelligent, caring and strong fighters! And from what the looks of it, alone (since no father was mentioned). What an incredible role model.
Jeanette is a smart girl. I also notice how the mom breaks down once she talks about the kidnapping, this made me feel upset because the feeling of not knowing if someone is okay or in danger is serious and heart breaking. May God bless this family no matter what.
There’s several theories as to why women in particular are so interested in true crime (I’ve wondered at my own interest) and I think a big part has to be the preference of knowing what’s out there and how to combat it. Love the happy ending, those are hard to come by 💕👏
Definitely for that purpose. It’s not a form of entertainment bc every day I learn something new on how to protect myself and other. It doesn’t make you paranoid but more aware. Today’s times are scary, gotta keep your head screwed on.
I have PTSD from a crime committed against me as a teen. I never talked to anyone about what happened until over 20 years later. I think watching crime stories helps me process what happened to me and gives me satisfaction to see the perpetrator caught and punished. And maybe I have a sense of gratitude because I wasn't killed unlike so many more unfortunate victims of sex crime. I never watch unsolved crimes. Its too frustrating. Maybe because the perpetrators against me were never punished.
@@B727X "incredibly less" scary? it's either scary or it's not. Emotions in dangerous situations can't be measured until you've faced the same danger yourself and to that extent. It's an invalidating "argument" to even say. Obviously the search methods help, but that doesn't take away the danger and strong fear.
God, watching this is a whirlwind of emotions. Joy, because you know she survived. Terror, because she was just a child. Sadness, because of her trauma. Triumph, because she was inspired and strong, and stayed alive. Relief, because her family got to hold her again. Pride, because she became a hero, a voice, for children just like her. She's incredible.
Everything I felt in one commend!! but Forgot the "Disgust, Because that man is a fucking pedo and disgrace to humanity." How can a human being let stop being a human being anymore? WHAT CAUSES PEOPLE TO DO SUCH ACTS
I’m a new mom & the way that the mom broke down and felt like it was all her fault for not being able to protect her kids makes me feel so horribly sad for her. I feel her pain & that’s something I don’t think I would have thought much about before becoming a mom.
Her mom should stop beating herself up because she was the reason her beautiful daughter was smart enough and capable enough to do all of the brave things she did. She should be proud of herself and her daughter. Her son too for being so young and still going to fight for his sister. Amazing family and I’m so glad she made it out alive!!
Its heartbreaking how the mother blames herself. I hope she will one day realize that she probably gave Jeannette a bunch of the strength she needed to make it out alive.
These stories are heartbreaking. Little girls should be playing house with their dolls and all the innocent things they do at 9 years old. These monsters who hurt children should be surgically castrated, put in prison with all the other inmates....not in protective custody and let them rot in there until they take their last breath. As far as I'm concerned, anyone that touches little children lose their rights to live in society.
Unfortunately that is no longer the case. When people had morals and values child molesters would be attacked in prison. Today it's rare that a child molester is beaten in prison. We've moved to a different time. Nobody cares anymore about punishing these guys in prison anymore. Very rare.
that's it? with all the crap that do to the children, they just get castration and free meals in prison? we need to start treating these people like how the nk treats their people in their labor camp
@@Dave_of_Mordor thats the catch, while it may seem like quite a light sentence, its not all that happens, you ser, its very common for these kind of people to be hatred and beaten by the other inmates, to the point that its not uncommon for them to "commit" """"su!c!de""""" after a few months, if you understand what i mean.
I myself nearly got kidnapped at the age of 8 and if it wasn't for my little sister confusing the abducter and the adrenalin rush I wouldn't have made it. We watched him searching for us for around 10minutes till he drove away with a black bmw with car opaque windows. Seeing this literally made me cry knowing how apparent this happens in your own house in your neighborhood not thinking much.
@MaxTheKeepet thank you I'm better now since we also moved away after that. I really hope they got what they deserve and that noone else got hurt in my place
@@minallouhmi781you were so lucky! Have you looked up kidnapping and murder cases in the area? Maybe he was a serial killer/pedo and he has other victims.
@disneytoysr4fun975 I found out years later that it was actually a gang that basicly would kidnap children for wuhdu and I got a certain mark that was quite known for this gang to be a target for these things, apparently my mom was warned that in that country "someone like me" will be a target but she didn't believe in all that and thought it was nothing till years later I motioned it
@@minallouhmi781wow. That’s terrifying! I also grew up in a country where kids regularly got kidnapped for sex trafficking. Some also get severely disfigured and forced to beg on the street at popular tourist destinations, far away from their home, so the kidnappers can profit from people’s sympathy for the child. Growing up, I was never allowed to go to a friend’s house alone, walk down the street alone, play at a park by myself. My mother watched me like a hawk. Not until I was much older and learned about SA, then became a parent myself, did I realise the severity of the fear and anxiety my mother would have had about keeping me safe there. Thankfully I live in another country now where it’s not such a big problem. Now we worry about kids getting SA’ed by adults known and trusted by the family. This world is so f’ed up.
What a remarkable young lady. The strength, savvy, and intelligence, for a nine year old little girl in that nightmare situation, is crazy. She (at nine years olds) was stronger and braver than a lot of adults.
Wow! I'm speechless & in tears after watching this. Jeanette not only saved her own life, she brought down a sick POS kidnapper. That she turned her trauma into a career in law enforcement is like turning the most horrible experience into something really positive. This world needs more people like her!
I’m so happy the whole family survived. I can’t get over how resourceful and brilliant this nine year old child was navigating a situation this terrifying.
The mom being forced into the ambulance, broke my heart. 💔 As a mother, I can't imagine wanting to get to your child and save them and having to stop because of injuries on yourself.
i’m 16 minutes away from silicon valley and i’m so relieved to hear that such a strong, powerful, and brave officer is nearby. Jeanette REALLY is a hero 💗💗
Many people in my life wonder why I’m obsessed with True Crime. This is the epitome of any answer I could give them. The story breaks your heart. You feel all the feels. Then the bad person gets caught and you can breathe again. It doesn’t end there. Just like Jeanett said… her and her brother shared a connection to the CSI drama. Watching the terrifying stuff saved her and caught her assailant. I really feel a great percentage of True Crime followers watch for this exact reason. We are disgusted by the injustice and we can rejoice when justice is served back…I’m sending big energy out to Jeanette, who was the absolute hero in this ordeal. Also to her mother and brother who were wiling to sacrifice themselves to get their baby girl back. It’s inspiring. Good people do everything they can to save their people. This was so sad but so beautiful and amazing. We are not all that strong. Bless this family.
Gosh. Hearing her in the interview eventually saying "I'm a fighter, I'm gonna make it" gives me chills. She was right. What a legend. I'm so glad she made it out alive.
I have two younger siblings and I applaud Paul. What an amazing brother. He tried his best to help his sister and risked his own life doing that and that’s freaking amazing. I’d do the same thing for either of my siblings in a heartbeat. Nobody allowed to mess with them without getting a fist to the face. I’m insanely glad this girl was alright. She is so strong.
Her story is 100% similar to the one of lisa mcvey. Im just blown away. They both tried their best to memorize every details about their surroundings, tried to gain the trust of their kidnappers, were set free at the end and so much more
Amazing. The end had me in tears. Happy ones. It's not often a story like this ends well. Her outlook on her situation is admirable. The way she thanked the officer that helped catch her attaker was so touching. What an amazing telling of her story!! 👏
I was saying to myself that she should be a detective and then the video stated that that's her goal. I think she would be a phenomenal detective. So proud of her. She stayed alive, got away, brought the perpetrator down and then conquered her fears to begin to live again. Im so impressed.
It gave me goosebumps knowing that she was smart enough to save evidence. I absolutely hate what she had to go through, but in my eyes she won. She defeated the loser.
this happened in my childhood neighborhood, me and my siblings were all around the same age as jeannette, this was the biggest story at the time and i remember everyone being so scared. i cant believe how incredibly brave she had to be through that horrific trauma and how brilliantly she saved herself.
I’ve had been attempted kidnapped more than three times once from my home another park n school they had me under arm carrying me off before I was saved by a teacher after such a very long time stalling the stranger. Stupid teacher blamed me for talking to him. If I didn’t stall him he woulda taken me sooner n the teacher wouldn’t be there to rescue me.
The system better keep this guy locked up FOREVER because if they let him go, he will kill his next victim!! California doesn't have the best track record. I pray they never let her down. She's a brave young lady...
Her story is incredible. She’s so insanely smart for thinking of all the things she did for how young she was when she was abducted. I don’t think most adults would have that kind of composure or smarts to do all that in such a traumatic and stressful situation like that.
Amazing I'm almost speechless a 9 year old who refused to give up, now a police officer and will on her way to helping young girls and boys recover with her compassion, love and her story.. she is truly a Hero, . I can't imagine what Mom and brother went through their self's thinking they couldn't save her.. God Bless this whole family...
While I'm relieved and proud of Jeannette and that her family is alive, I am still so devastated and angry at the lifetime of trauma she and her family have to carry. What a nightmare. It was so uncomfortable listening to this story as it is hits too close to home. Thank you for featuring crimes where victims are able to survive -- not just Jeanneatte herself, but her entire family.
What an amazingly strong family. I can't imagine the pain Jeanette went through and yet she persevered. And her poor mother and brother fighting as hard as they did for her to still be taken. It had to have been soul crushing. Yet this family made it out the other side and together. A true inspiration.
This woman, as a child, had more planning and forethought than a 9 year old should bear. What an incredibly smart and fast thinking child. I can only imagine her intellect has grown since then. This gave me chills, what an incredible woman, Jeannette is.
The bravery in this woman's entire family is AMAZING! To think her older brother rushed in to fight an unknown grown man to save his sister is awesome! And her mom to take a frying pan to the head and still fight is heroic! This whole story shows how great bravery can be!
Wow-- Heather becoming the first woman Chief of Police in the history of The San Jose Police Department & now, Jeannette training hard at The San Diego Police Academy, following in her footsteps. Jeannette: what an amazing journey & story from 9 'til now-- I hope & pray her life only continues going up from here & that she feels so, so, proud of herself each & every day; what an amazingly strong & brilliant child, woman, & continual warrior! She became her own hero, not just one to herself, but one to every person who has & ever will ever hear her speak. Brava, ladies!
I'm so sorry you went through this, and I'm happy that even at that young age you were able to protect yourself and get justice. Parents deny their children the opportunity to watch such shows when in turn they are not bad, they actually exist to show us how evil people are out there and how to protect ourselves if we find ourselves in such situations. That man must rot in jail for the pain he caused you and your family. In my eyes you are a hero to your story and us women.
Jeanette is such a hero in my eyes. She is so brave and strong, who knows what could've happened if she didn't fight as hard as she did. and even after all this trauma, the most important thing to her is how everyone else felt. she says "i got my family back" after going through torture that many of us can't even imagine.
I'm here for you 🖤
We never fully heal from it, we just learn to cope with the damage from it. The justice system doesn't understand it the same as victims do. I feel like I lost a part of me I never met or enjoyed. I appreciate the support I read in the comments and never met you any of you. 🖤
Honestly...even at 26, I can't imagine having that smart of thoughts. I have severe cptsd, severe anxiety and chronic depression (other undiagnosed stuff too more than likely) and I would probably just shut down and accept I'm powerless after I've been through repeated SA's :(
I'm genuinely amazed at how strong she was and how much of a fighter she was. It's such a harrowing situation especially at 9 years old...I was 4-7 from my first SA accounts from my own brothers and I couldn't understand the situation until I was well into my teen years...

Her family didn't even issue an amber alert for her?
They are all a victim 🥺

and she was able to memorize the drive, and brought the cops right to him. At only 9 years old. Incredible.
Not being able to issue an Amber Alert without knowing the identity of who took the missing child seems like a massive oversight/mistake.
Not only was her family attacked they have footage of the car speeding away 🤦♀️
Like if that’s not enough for an amber alert that absolutely moronic
The entire point of an Amber is to get the information out right that second ….
Which could have meant someone recognise the car instantly - before he pulled into his house etc etc
The amber alerts has saved thousands for that exact reason 😑
But cause they couldn’t see licence plate or know EXACTLY who did it they didn’t do an amber alert. That defeats the point of an Amber alert;
To find them within the first 24 HRs which would save their lives …
Not all states are like that! And the states who issue an amber alert instantly has highest success rates of saving the children
So your points are stupid and misguided.
Cause that’s the entire point of an Amber alert - if a kid is KNOWINGLY kidnapped… those added extra hours of going to the media could be that child could be killed before then ..
Or the kidnapper could flea states, hide etc
In most instances people recognise the car , child within an hour of their kidnap. I.e while they are within the same area of the kidnapping
Which it was obviously clear SHE WAS KIDNAPPED
@@barbarella.artist I agree with you. A verified kidnap, aggravating features..known rape of a child..mother and sibling brutally attacked..certainly enough of a description including enough of the blurry pic of the car..level of brutality...all together and independently warranted an amber alert immediately. Hope that PD reviewed their policy, and maybe had a senior officer allocated for cases where a judgement call was needed. This case definitely was a top priority witnessed child abduction
Issuing an amber alert without any other info is telling the suspect that we don't know anything about him. It is not safe for the child.
"my fear turned into courage, and i told myself: 'im a fighter, im gonna make it' " is such a awsome quote
Her mom may never be able to forgive herself for what she believes is a failure on her part but she did an amazing job as a parent. She raised an intelligent, capable daughter who became her own hero and a son who fought for his family. She raised a family of bad asses.
Beautifully said. ♥️
So true
It was pretty badass of the girl to open the door for a strange man. No wonder she was so easily kidnapped.

Or think about "Dark Fairy Tales" before Modern Media - they for sure have their place even for Kids (=> BE AWARE OF PEOPLE)
Most of "Kid Friendly Media" since the mid 2000s are political programming anyways - and give especially Kids the notion that every Human is good - Spoiler Alert: they arent
As a Parent -especially also as a Father you should teach your Kids that "foreign people" what family belongs are "bad" and not trustable, one of the ways to teach that is that this "in general" known and not a restriction only from you as a parent.

So do not be worry that much. The chances of you being kidnapped are low but never zero and always carry a tiny weapon.

Saying women are weaker isn't an excuse it's just a fact. The point is that it's easier for a woman to be kidnapped because they usually aren't as physically strong.

@Laura Nasewytewa she tried closing it back up?? Please don’t be insensitive
Its heartbreaking how the mother blames herself. I hope she will one day realize that she probably gave Jeannette a bunch of the strength she needed to make it out alive.
Her mother is so protective, he brother is so brave, and she is so strong. That is what family does. They fight for each other. They give their all.
Mad respect to that brother. Fought for his sister even though he knew he couldn’t win.
Very rare.
I hope this fucking monster got beatings everyday in jail
💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
that's it? with all the crap that do to the children, they just get castration and free meals in prison? we need to start treating these people like how the nk treats their people in their labor camp
What an amazingly brave and smart child she was! She must've been terrified at every moment and still kept her head on.
Exactly! The fact she was able to calm herself and think logically to even grab evidence! She’s incredibly smart and brave 💖💖💖💖
@lauranasewytewa2801 she was a child you sick basstard
I myself nearly got kidnapped at the age of 8 and if it wasn't for my little sister confusing the abducter and the adrenalin rush I wouldn't have made it. We watched him searching for us for around 10minutes till he drove away with a black bmw with car opaque windows. Seeing this literally made me cry knowing how apparent this happens in your own house in your neighborhood not thinking much.
Damn bruh, I hope ur good now, and I hope the Mf who did that is either 6 feet under, or he behind bars
Why don't you be like her
@@turtlefeeshmany things go into that, like finances, home situation, it’s not that simple
Very well said 🫶
The presence of mind Jeanette had at 9 years old is astounding. She really is a fighter.
My heart- when she said she was preparing for her death, Jesus. I'm so happy she was so clever to get that evidence and solve her own case ❤️
Her story is 100% similar to the one of lisa mcvey. Im just blown away. They both tried their best to memorize every details about their surroundings, tried to gain the trust of their kidnappers, were set free at the end and so much more
This is what i'm thinking !! & Lisa became a cop too!!
And Kara Robinson
And Shasta Goene
and Jennifer Schuett
I’m pretty somebody in prison will kill him they don’t take lightly to pedophiles and rapists
She isn’t the only victim or family dealing with this trauma
What an amazingly strong family. I can't imagine the pain Jeanette went through and yet she persevered. And her poor mother and brother fighting as hard as they did for her to still be taken. It had to have been soul crushing. Yet this family made it out the other side and together. A true inspiration.
And they say TV rots your brain... IT STRENGTHENS IT
I mean depends on what you’re watching

🙏
I'm so sorry you went through this, and I'm happy that even at that young age you were able to protect yourself and get justice. Parents deny their children the opportunity to watch such shows when in turn they are not bad, they actually exist to show us how evil people are out there and how to protect ourselves if we find ourselves in such situations. That man must rot in jail for the pain he caused you and your family. In my eyes you are a hero to your story and us women.
