I think Four Agreements is an incredible book. It’s based on ancient Toltec wisdom and is very eastern is its style-which we westerners are not very well equipped to understand, as we aren’t taught about the concept of the ego or how to detach from ours. (The lenses we’ve been conditioned to look through, stories we’ve been conditioned to believe about reality etc.) It’s definitely changed my life and helped me become a happier, healthier, more compassionate person!
I agree. And I am sad Jack is being so shady towards a book that is based on ancient Toltec spirituality. You don’t mock on spirituality of any type as long as it doesn’t attack anyone else. He basically said the book is trash which couldn’t be further from the truth. Still like Jack. I just wish he was more respectful to books he doesn’t like.
He’s mocking it because it’s just conmon sense. If you have any critical thinking skills you see through it. It’s awesome that helped you make réalisations about yourself to which you were previously unaware.
@@MsCristina38 have you go to therapy? Because that is literally what therapy does. Helps you understand human behavior that some people could consider “obvious”. However you see it, to mock ancient cultures is not ok.
@@vladleiva4055 Yes I’ve been through therapy and I’ve also gained a lot of wisdom in growing old so I can see for people that have not healed yet, how the book might be healing.
As a hypnotherapist I find Weir's book problematic as I was trained to do forms of past-life regression with clients.. WITH THE COMPLETE UNDERSTANDING of both parties that what the client sees and experiences ISN'T a past life, but the brains ability to code information and experiences as METAPHORS. Exactly like a dream. You can use this technique to help resolve difficult memories and experiences, and a few clinical studies suggest that this is useful. BUT it isn't, you know, real. It's the subconscious mind and it's beautiful ability to code data. Weir's assertion that it was, in fact, real in my opinion robs the client of whatever clinical therapeutic value such a technique might have.
The four agreements is a book of Toltec philosophies. I have read this book in its original Spanish language, and the translation does not do justice. I suggest people wanting to read this book, and the creator of this youtube video, too, look further into the historical implications of the philosophies these native Mexican people were trying to embody :). I also agree there are a lot of faults in this book, but this is a native people's philosophy that should be looked at through the objective lens of history as well.
Honestly those books are for profit only. I am heavily spiritual, and yet those books exist as some sort of "psychiatric" evidence (with no evidence), to convince people that are desperate, be it from physical suffering, be it from a suffering mind. This is awful and misleading. Shouldn't be published as "science". I am fuming
I knew someone who knew Dr. Weiss personally since they used to work together at UM. Most of the Psychiatric department considered him a bit off and he was apparently deeply affected by the death of his child. He was more interested in his superstar status after Many Lives, Many Masters than actually helping people.
God I've never seen Jack be so mad after reading a book. The video was hilarious but one could imagine the pain he had to go through whilst reading those books, thank you Jack for psychoanalysing the books for us 😂

@@jonahisjournaling some time ago I was afraid I might have OCD because my intrusive thoughts are really bad and honestly they interfere with my life so much, there was a point I was so afraid of one specific thing happening and that caused me so much anxiety to the point I couldn’t eat and I would lay in bed crying about it all day (the thing in question involved health, when there were no sign whatsoever that there was anything wrong with my health).. But I don’t think i do any compulsory behavior, i don’t feel the need to clean or organize anything, and when I did research about it this was like the main symptom of ocd so now I just think my problem is just anxiety really.
😂😂😂
Thanks for your input. Past Life Regression is a weird title to give it and i think a lot of people exploit it.
But Past lives don’t exist🙄
Weirs idk about him but the only hypnotherapist i like is alba wainman

The whole video was funny and witty, but I actually snorted at WhAt A koiNkiDinK omg
I’d love to see a live feed of you while reading these books. I imagine random screaming, the book occasionally hitting the wall, yelling ‘whyyyyyyy’.
👌🏽
You should do a video about Anya Taylor-Joys book recommendations!
I think it’s safe to say Jack is NOT into spiritualism hahaha
Lol truu
Yankee spiritualism is the biggest bullshit USA is trying to sell to our generation now a days.
I am fuming
@@anapaulabezzolo943 spiritualism has existed a long long time ago, tf??

I knew someone who knew Dr. Weiss personally since they used to work together at UM. Most of the Psychiatric department considered him a bit off and he was apparently deeply affected by the death of his child. He was more interested in his superstar status after Many Lives, Many Masters than actually helping people.

'generational wealth' damn, Jack's on fire today.
Okay but Jack ranting about these books for 12 minutes straight is the most entertaining thing I saw today :D
God I've never seen Jack be so mad after reading a book. The video was hilarious but one could imagine the pain he had to go through whilst reading those books, thank you Jack for psychoanalysing the books for us 😂
LMAO that line about her being self made was savage and I 👏 am 👏 here 👏 for 👏 it 👏
The 4 agreements is more of a spiritual book that you don’t read in order to analyze but understand and grow. I’m shocked Kylie read it
No analysis or critical thinking skills required huh? Now y’all see why people fall for anything these days and don’t believe in facts and science. Gullible af
@@PeepersT Bro i can tell only by reading your insults that you are really no better. Do you think that people who meditate are dumb and don't belive in the science. you are so way off.

Jacques in Paris. My new favourite show. I hope you’re proceeding well with your French and I wish you have a jolly time while you’re there.
the four agreements book gave me hella anxiety because of that "your thoughts become your reality" mentality... which YEAH makes sense because if you think negatively all the time that tends to spiral, but my silly goofy brain takes it literally so I'm now I'm afraid to have even one bad thought because then bad things might happen 🤠

you may want to look into OCD, this sounds similar to that
Oh gosh I thought I was the only one
But should I maybe talk about it with my psychologist?
Jack chucking the book behind him will never not be satisfying. It gives me strong Silver Linings Playbook vibes, and I love it.
I’m a bookseller and the number of copies of these books my store sells on a regular basis has quickly become astounding to me
I can’t stress enough how much I love when people quote song lyrics like deep, meaningful poetry.

I read one of those when I was about 10 years old and was fascinated by reincarnation, then started reading about metaphysics, after that new age and self help books. I've also read the 4 agreements a few times. All I can say is that at the very least these books got me interested in reading.
"Like some evil Alan Titchmarsh" is my favourite quote ever and I *will* try to use this in my day-to-day life.
why to watch stand up comedy when you can watch jack reviewing celebritied book recommendation.
"BEAUTIFULLY BEAUTIFULLY" 3:32 he sounds so British lmao
“If you read this book you will be insufferable”… that’s probably why she read it
Kylie complaining about this video in that one interview killed me
Off the topic but I really love the " 4 cold wall" And "99 problems" shirts Jack is wearing
watching Jack lose his mind over the last two books gave me the strength to complete my assignments.
Kylie: *recommends a book*
Jack: So you’ve chosen death
I’ve actually had a doctor say to me ‘you look fine’ when I had a Crohn’s flare and was loosing weight. Yeah. I was fine. A lot of the spiritual books are ableism.
The four agreements is not for everyone, not everyone can understand the deep meaning of that oversimplified book.
Kicking back with a glass of wine, a blanket and Jack's new video. Sunday sorted! Love from India
I love that Jack just progressively loses his mind as the video progresses

everyone especially kourtney posts about the 4 agreements and i’m like you could summarize the whole book with one paragraph which is literally the inside cover !!!!!!!!
The fact that you gave the first book 2 stars was extremely generous by the sounds of it!
the passion for the absolute HATRED of these books is incredible and hilarious and just very jack 😂
My narcissistic estranged father LOVED the 4 agreements because they were rules that Other People should follow. Also I kinda feel like “Do Your Best” kinda negates the other agreements because you could be like “well I was impeccable with my word 1/10 times but at least I tried!”

You are an intelligent man. Only morons find tha book "deep".
I love how Jack is wearing a shirt that says “99 problems” on it while describing the 99 problem of Dr.Brian’s book
“FIND A SYNONYM” 3 minutes in and I love this video already
Dr Weiss has been watching too much k-drama. I literally just watched a series with the same plot as the second book.
I would argue that a toddler is FAR from the best kind of person because being "pure" is not the defining characteristic of a good person. The best people are the people who have the capacity to do harm and doesn't do it because they don't WANT to hurt people. Not having the means to hurt people doesn't necessarily make you a good person
3:33 “Beautifully?!!” The way Jack freaked out 🤭😂 Had to watch it twice🤣
8:40 The pause 👀🤭😂 How can someone flipping out be so entertaining to watch lol 😂
I worked at a book store for 5 years, The Four Agreements is a widely well known self-help book. And this video goes to show just because a book is popular, it doesn't mean it's necessarily a good book.
Only if you take this persons opinion as the truth
It IS an excellent book in fact. This guy is not the expert. Just his opinion (which I do not agree with)
@@jgator6694 this guy has a degree in literature though.. he literally studied criticism and as a critic he does his job (expressing his opinion about how the book is written) very well. and he talks about the execution of those ideas while saying that those ideas are not bad (2:35). so even if the book was helpful to some, to him with his giant reading experience it wasn't written well. not saying you don't have the right to have your opinion though, books are supposed to be discussed from different perspectives.
@@minimoniya that may be true that he has a degree in literature; however I would argue that doesn’t make his opinion more valid than mine. When his argument about The Four Agreements include such things as “ a toddler is not a perfect person because he sh!ts himself”…he is clearly missing the point the author was making about why a toddler is “perfect ( uncorrupted; untarnished by the world). And his statement that if you read this book you are a “dickhead”….well let’s just say he lost me there. While I agree with you, minimoniya, that opinions on books are open to interpretation, I think I could find another book critique who can articulate his opinion in a more intelligent and classy way. I think this particular book critique should probably learn to incorporate some (if not all) of the four agreements into his daily life. My opinion for what it is worth..
@@jgator6694 i understand your point and i don't disagree with you either, i don't want to invalidate your opinion. i assume you two looked on this book from two opposite sides and it's fine to have opposing opinions

I've been bingeing your content for a week now and I just finished reading your book at 1:55 am on a school night. I thought it was a very informative read. I especially appreciated the personal insights to international experiences, your experience with imposter syndrome and the talk about diversity. A book I was recommended was The High-Conflict Couple by Allan E. Fruzzetti.
The book is literally based on ancient Toltec spirituality. And spirituality is meant to be simple. Having a good life is simple. That’s why the content on the book is kinda “obvious”. I am okay with people not liking it, but I am sad Jack basically said it was trash. Is not.
