You can use cornstarch instead of arrowroot powder, and also add a few drops of tea tree oil to increase its antibacterial purpose like I do - the result is perfect!👍🏻

My roommate even smelled up close at the end of a [hot] day where I had spent time outside and was sweating, and she said I didn't smell! But I did find that after a few days my armpits started to stink really bad and I had heard about the need to "detox" your armpits before going to a more natural method. I didn't feel like buying anything extra, so I actually used a mint julep facemask rub that I already had, on my armpits (weird, but it actually worked). I just wanted to give my feedback after using this recipe for about a month! 1. I really like it! 2. I read the comments beforehand and decided to add about HALF of the essential oils she recommends; too much can irritate your skin and I was switching from commercial deodorant to avoid irritation. I used peppermint oil and a dash of tea tree. 3. I made half the recipe she suggests to see if i liked it first, which I’m glad for doing as I’m about halfway through it now after 1 month. So her original recipe quantities for me would last about 4 months! 4. Obviously this is a natural deodorant, so don’t expect it to perform in the exact same ways a commercial one does. On hot days, or when I’ve sweated a lot, I have needed to reapply it once to ensure I don’t get stinky! 6. After I’ve applied it, I do let it ‘sink in’ for a couple of minutes so it doesn’t stain my clothes. Thank you for your recipe! 🧡

Kristin Hartley don't worry girl, it's all natural! I'm the same way, I use men's deodorant but I really wanna try this one out cause I hate how much chemicals they use in the normal brands D:
wasntborntofollow226 well I'm also worried about the chemicals but I work as a massage therapist and can't afford to stink. I would love to have something work with less chemicals, and I do appreciate the natural idea of this one but worried it won't be strong enough. Yes, always worth a try, just was hoping to get an idea if it worked on others who had a hard time with deodorants before wasting the products you know
Have you try using a lime first.. You should look it up.. A lot of people in my country do that.. Maybe try it first and then the natural deodorant. :)
Maximumsatan YES, you can use soya wax to produce a firmer deodorant. Substitute 1 tablespoon of Shea butter for 1 tablespoon coconut oil. Start out with adding a tablespoon or so of soya wax added to the oils in a double boiler method. Let it cool down. Add more til you find your desired consistency. Then mix into dry ingredients.
Hi Meaghan, thanks for your videos. I have a question, do you find that you get oil on your clothes or is it all absorbed into the skin? I live in Australia so the climate is probably warmer most of the year. Thanks. Lesley
No, because olive oil is not a solid at room temperature. You need to use a saturated fat such as coconut oil or beef tallow since they are solid at room temperature.
In my case, I try to find a deodorant that helps to lighten the my armpits because the skin can be dark sometimes; would lemon essentialouls work? Also I pluck instead of shave. Would the oil clog the pours or is it safe? And would cornstarch work the same or it needs to be arrowroot?
My recipe is similar, but I used beeswax, shea butter and a little black charcoal, lavander and tea tree (tea tree helps WONDERS for people who have smelly pits) and NO baking soda. The baking soda burnt soooo bad. I would use just straight coconut oil but where I live it is always liquid haha

This is wat i got but thats to much of ingredients, i dont know where i will get beeswax pellets and mango butter from.
It's best to give your skin a minute or two to dry/absorb the oil before putting clothes overtop, that way you can prevent any oil staining :) I haven't had any issues!

Can I use another oil rather than coconut oil? And What other essential oil could I use besides lavender?
Hi Meghan! can i use tapioca starch instead?
Can we use baking powder instead of baking soda or sodium bicarbonate
Already tried. Its nice since even for the whole day, no bad odor came from my armpit. BUT, it seems my armpit is getting darker.
jule yah stop using ASAP it means your reacting to the baking soda it’s pretty much burning your skin which is why it’s getting darker just stop using it and put some aloe Vera on your armpits for them to heal (something that these people don’t tell u in the video )
@@nsg7791 oh my, thanks! I really have no idea. Thanks again.
I love your diy videos💕
Thank you!! I'm so happy to hear
Meghan Livingstone you're welcome, keep up the good work!:)
Is it supposed to leave your armpit white and powdery? It looks look I rubbed baking soda on my armpits. Is that supposed to happen?
can I use potato starch iso arrowroot starch?
I tried homemade deodorant with baking soda. It is too strong for my skin. Broke my armpit out. I’ll try arrowroot/ cornstarch
Can I use corn starch instead of arrowroot?
Them naaaaaiillls #goals
Can I add vanilla extract in it to make it vanilla scented??
*DO YOU KEEP YOUR DIY NATURAL DEODORANT AFTER YOU MAKE IT AND IF YOU DONT USE IT YOU JUST KEEP IT IN TGE REFRIGERATOR?*
I added lemon essential oil to lighten my underarms. Not sure if it's completely safe tho.
I just finished make this deodorant. I used 8 drops Lemon essential oil, 3 drops Tea Tree oil, 6 drops Lavender essential oil, and 13 drops Wild Orange essential oil. I love it!!
Citrus oils are photosensitive so as long as you're not exposing your pits to the sun you should be fine :) I use lemon oil in my night serum for my face and sometimes apply it under my arms before bed. It works great!
I just put by accident baking powder instead of baking soda :'( will it work the same?
Trying this!
DONY TRY THIS RECIPIE. ITS DANGEROUS AND WILL BURN
*CAN I USE COLD PRESSED,CENTRIFUGED FOOD SUPPLEMENT VIRGIN COCONUT OIL?AND HERE IN THE PHILIPPINES IS ALWAYS HOT SO ALL THE VCO HERE IN THE PH ARE ALL IN LIQUID FORM HAHA!*
Cedrix Patiu Im sûre
Can I use bentonite clay instead of arrowroot?
purebodyscent --- this deodorant works extremely well for body odor - can be used all over the body.
Do you think this recipe would work for someone who needs very strong deodorant? I have to use men's and even at that I have to apply it twice a day. Even if I don't do anything to sweat 🙊😩🤔 kinda gross but.... truthful issue for some I spose lol
This deodorant is very gentle and still allows you to sweat as it isn't an antiperspirant! It's worth a try though!
Kristin Hartley try using talc ( which is body powder ) or baking soda
What can I use as a substitute to arrowroot or organic cornstarch?
For how many day we can store it
Does the oil leave stain on the clothes?
Could you add soya wax to make this more like a deodorant stick? .... Lovely easy to understand tutorial thanks 💖
Raw cocoa butter / beeswax would give you that creamy stick feeling. The soy wouldnt help much because the wax would Harden
Can we use natural starch if arrow root starch is not available?
I find that the coconut oil stains your clothes.
N James uuhhh ummm 🤔 make it thicker
then I suspect you're just not getting the oil to wash out in the laundry. You could try adding some borax to the laundry.
Hi Meaghan, thanks for your videos. I have a question, do you find that you get oil on your clothes or is it all absorbed into the skin? I live in Australia so the climate is probably warmer most of the year. Thanks. Lesley
It will definitely absorb into the skin! Just make sure you give it a couple minutes to dry and your clothes should be ok :)
Thank, I'll give it a try.
Can I use olive oil instead of Coconut oil?
No, because olive oil is not a solid at room temperature. You need to use a saturated fat such as coconut oil or beef tallow since they are solid at room temperature.
In my case, I try to find a deodorant that helps to lighten the my armpits because the skin can be dark sometimes; would lemon essentialouls work? Also I pluck instead of shave. Would the oil clog the pours or is it safe? And would cornstarch work the same or it needs to be arrowroot?
Want to know if it has to be coconut oil, or can it be some other type
Same question in mind.
What would you have used the coconut oil to replace?
Can Auroot be replaced with corn starch
Yes it can.
doesn't this type of deodorant leave oily stains on clothes?
I really like it. But the downfall of me having a dark complexion is that my under arms got really dark
Really?
@@Nandita077 Yes, the baking soda does that when i look it up to see why my armpits were getting dark
@@liasmith614 hmmm..ok...think there would be a substitute for that ? Thanks for replying though
@@Nandita077 im not sure, i will look up and see wat can be used in replace of the baking soda and see.. And ur welcome

Does essential oils darken underarms?
Oh I really want to try this!! Does the coconut oil stain your clothing at all?
It's best to give your skin a minute or two to dry/absorb the oil before putting clothes overtop, that way you can prevent any oil staining :) I haven't had any issues!
I try it and it does work I love it cause I try the men deodorant it did not work so I’m happy I tried it again it does work
I just make it...smells good 😍.. i will take a shower and try it .. and will see if it works
I followed the recipe but I doubled everything to make a bit more, and it hasn’t set ! It’s been 24 hours and it’s still liquidy.. any help???
can i use an oil other than coconut?
