Yes, I have arrowroot starch. I was hoping you would use it. Also, if you use sodium bicarbonate, make sure it's aluminum free. But you can simply use Arrowroot starch by itself. It also works as a dry "shampoo". Since it absorbs oil.

Arrowroot powder is actually a fantastic substitute for sodium bicarbonate, also. Sodium bicarbonate (also known as baking soda) has a much higher PH level compared to your skin, whereas arrowroot powder is much closer to your skin's PH, making you less likely to break out :)

@@trevajana Hi there! I just put a bit of coconut oil into a small container, and the pour in the baking soda a bit at a time, at room temperature, and squish it with my fingers, until it becomes the desired consistency for deodorant. I just add baking soda until it "feels" right. Like some paste that's a bit more solid than liquidy if that makes sense.
And when I want to use it, I just scoop up a bit with my finger and rub it on my armpit. You really don't need much, and it's easy to carry around in a little mini jar or something in this state.

Itchy is more likely to come from the baking soda (many people develop skin problems from the stuff when used on the skin), the corn starch is also used as babypowder alternative. I use just cornstarch and coconutoil (1 tsp each) + 2-3 drops good essential oil if you want a scent. Mash the first to together with a fork to a paste and then add the essential oil. No preservatives, so make a new batch every month.

Three ingredients, so simple. Your recipe sounds wonderful, Kalle. But the conversion to the American system doesn't quite translate. Why? Because most of our measurement units are based on 4, instead of in decimals. So when it comes to cooking (or making beauty products), we Americans think fractionally, rather than decimally. A cup is 8 ounces , but 2/10 of a cup of corn starch or 08/100 cup of baking soda is not quite in our vocabulary.
I think I can help you with the conversion.
    Approximately:
almost 1/4 cup corn or potato starch or arrowroot
4 teaspoons baking soda (also known as bicarbonate of soda)
    almost 1/4 cup coconut oil.
How I converted the ingredients: it's easier for me to think of 50 mL rather than 0.5dL because in Germany, my mother's homeland, they tend to use mL in their cookbooks, instead of dL. It's actually 60mL that =1/4 cup in the American system of measurements, so maybe we could say 1/4 cup, less 2 teaspoons for the cornstarch and the coconut oil? As for the baking soda, 5 mL = 1 teaspoon.
Thanks for sharing your recipe, Kalle. I look forward to trying it. :-)

Dozens of other types are available but the average get something on the table as fast as possible, person does not use them although many are on the shelf at the standard food store.

A skill: like blacksmithing, sewing, knitting, woodworking, gardening, etc...any sort of ancient artisnal craft. 2. A trade: plumbing, electric, carpentry, lumbering, mechanic. 3. A degree: even just a basic degree in business or liberal arts. If one has these 3 things, even in a troubled economy they can find ways to earn income.

Going to try your demo for deodorant as I have all the ingredients to hand. I agree when you say that you shouldn't butter stuff on your body you aren't prepared to eat first. Way back in my day, Im 63 now, there was talk that deodorants that stopped the body chemically from sweating had a link to breast cancer, so I have been wary ever since. Thank you for your time and energy on your beautiful video. I think if I was younger I would be coming to Sweden to live. I started your video... ran upstairs... made some deodorant and came back down to finish the video. Great video.
Couple of things I would recommend to those making it.... You are balancing the oil with the cornstarch and baking soda. You don't want greasy/oily and you don't want dry crumbly.
The baking soda is going to act as a neutralizer of the PH and acidity in your pits. This will help with keeping the bacteria at bay that cause odor. The baking soda and the corn starch will absorb moisture helping keep you "dry". They can absorb
Choose essential oils that are pure and if possible get those that are cold pressed and not extracted by chemicals like methanol and ethanol. A lot of essential oils on the market are fake so make sure you are getting pure essential oil and not a scent added to a generic oil.
If using essential oils then you should try to chose oils that are naturally beneficial to being anti-bacterial and oils that are not "Hot". He used lime which is a citrus oil so if you have sensitive skin you may react to that oil as it is a "Hot" oil just like peppermint and many others. You can still use them but in small amounts and if you have sensitive skin you may not be able to.
Some oils that are naturally antibacterial would be things like lemongrass, geranium, lavender, tea tree (hot), lemon (hot) and a bunch more but these are the common ones for the most part.
Other oils you can blend in would be grapeseed oil, avocado oil, argan oil. These are great for the skin and they help as a "carrier" for the essential oils and will help the oils blend into your deodorant and mix better. You want to add these slowly and mix in well. You don't want your deodorant to be to oily.
You can also add butters like shea butter or cocoa butter but you want to add small amounts as they are very greasy but are great additives.
The other additive some folks will use is cream of tartar that you can buy in the spice aisle. It is a PH balancer and is alkaline. It is also anti-bacterial so a little of this added into your cornstarch, baking soda mix can make a difference.
All of this is completely natural and if you want you can always buy empty deodorant containers on Amazon or online and you can put it in those if you don't want to use your hands like a cream.

Oh, and I add I add Bergamot essential oil.

Made this and it worked well for the first couple of days. Since then, I put it on after my shower but around 6-8 hours later I can notice B.O. I've not been doing anything particularly arduous and it's not been that warm where I live. It's also been itching a bit when I put it on (that subsides later) and I think it's staining some shirts (and I've been waiting at least 20 minutes to put on a shirt), which I'm worried because, since it's not working so well, I've been adding a bit more of the deodorant than during the first days (about two-peas worth, now). Been using it for a couple of weeks and want to continue, but may need to refine the recipe. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Many people talk of detox after you stop using chemicals that you buy from the shelf. I've seen many comments just like yours. Give it a bit longer and see there is a difference 🤷.

I feel like I've tried every natural toothpaste and deodorant. The most recent works well and easy to make. It does require the purchase of a roller ball. I put a few drops of my favorite essential oil in the roller ball first, then fill with off brand milk of magnesia which is just magnesium hydroxide. Easy peasy, no staining. Lasts all day for me and I can get pretty stinky 😅

Did it itch the first 2 days? Perhaps it was swapped (if your targeted?), since it seemed fine for the first 2 days. Perhaps try making a fresh lot every day just before use?

I make my own deodorant like this too only I don't need the starch (I don't sweat like most people though) however, I add powdered magnesium to help control the skin bacteria so I can use much less baking soda on my skin because of sensitivity. I also make our tooth paste with coconut fat and baking soda. When we brush our teeth, we can add a drop of peppermint or clove oil. I've not had any need for dental work since switching to this homemade tooth paste & my children have never had a cavity in their lives! They're both adults now 🥰 White coconut oil naturally kills bad bacteria that cause odor and can damage gums or teeth while leaving a protective layer in the mouth.

If like me 0.2 cups of anything doesn't mean much to you, use:
    - about 3-1/3 tbsp of corn starch
    - 4 tsp baking soda
    - about 3-1/3 tbsp coconut oil

@@mariomatias1080 Yeah, does the job pretty good. Mine seems a bit oily as it separates when it sits for a day so maybe I need to add a bit more corn starch or baking powder.

Thank you for the Arrow Root suggestion.
My two-year-old daughter and I are both immune-compromised after exposure to black mold and the chemical Roundup many years ago.
She got her immune problems from me during pregnancy.
And she has a very difficult time digesting or coming into contact with potato and cornstarch....so I'd prefer to avoid it even for myself, just in case.
    Thanks so much! God bless.
    Skal.😊

I made mine with a different oil. I hate coconut it's good for the skin too. I added a little too much essential oil but I'll figure that out later if I did. I also added bees wax to mine to help stiffen it up in the freezer or fridge so I can apply it like regular deodorant. Smells like cedar wood. I always come back to this vid over the others ones cause the rations almost perfect for me. You're it's 2 to .08 I think mines 2 to .06 and it keeps my pits from stinking at all without getting that baking soda trash. I'd do arrow root but seems like a waste when you can jisy tone down the soda a bit.

Im on day 2 of using your recipe, im amazed how clean i feel and how unsmelly i am.
This natural deodorant instantly absorbs into my skin and isnt even slightly greasy or oily.
I know this shouldn't prevent sweating but I literally havent broken a sweat since using it, where as i am usually fighting the sweat and pongy within hours with my Dove deodorant.
