I don't use commercial deodorant. Haven't for years. Thanks Andrea for the really great presentation on making a natural product. I smell better already.
We are so gonna try this recipe! Been working on our own for awhile now and haven't hit on the perfect one yet. I have trouble with the baking soda as well. Thanks for sharing.
yassss!! I'm so excited to make this. I'm in the process of switching out all our soaps and detergents and deodorants and things, this looks like a great recipe. Thanks for sharing and congrats on your new bull!!
Great video! I'm new to your channel, thanks to Jess at Roots & Refuge. Looking forward to trying my own deodorant sometime. Certainly nicer than buying expensive natural ones.
Ha I was thinking a funnel and you did, I am so interested in this it looks so easy to make. Does it go solid before using? Well done on doing your own AI. Beautiful momma and calf.
Thank you so much for the recipe! I've tried the straight baking soda and it did not work for us. Which means we gave up and went back to commercial deodorants. I can't wait to try this method!
I switched to a mineral salt stick many years ago, but I think this recipe sounds like a great alternative. You never know when certain things will be hard to come by.
Thanks for sharing this recipe! I'm sensitive to baking soda as well and was thinking of playing around with a recipe to work for me. Congratulations on the new baby.😀🙏
If you put your deodorant in a jar. Instead of using just your fingers to apply it. You could use a cotton round made for taking off make-up. I use them for applying salves and lotions that are kind of messy. Works great.
Thanks for the "recipe" I switched to natural mineral salt deodorant years ago. I keep most of those ingredients so I will be glad to save money and make it at home.
I've been looking for a good, natural deodorant recipe. I'll have to give this one a try. The only ingredient I'm lacking is the clay. So I'll have to order some. Great news on the new baby on the farm. Thanks for sharing. Take care.
Thanks for sharing I just bought some all natural deodorant at a co op market I sell wool products at....now I can make my own! Calf is beautiful we just bought 5 beef cows!
Shalom! Howdy Andrea, your Natural Deodorant has some very natural ingredients which a beneficial. I must try your recipe. Where do you purchase the ingredients and what companies make them. Thank you and blessings to you and yours!
Hey Andrea, great video. As far as the bentonite clay, won't it deactivate if you use anything metal in making it? And what a cute baby!! Does this mean I can get milk soon? :)
kiralotus13 I read the metal spoon thing is a myth as clay is mined with metal equipment and tun through metal screens etc., but a plastic spoon could be used just to be safe. I really don't know. I have you on my waiting list but it isn't budging at the moment. It may be awhile🙁 Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the new recipe! I'll give it a try. I am interested in coming to the meet up and bringing some of my sewn goods to sell. Mostly aprons and things. Do you have a specific way to contact you about that?
YL is not the only one that is seed to seal..( I love YL) Revive is another great company. Some folks that use to work for YL have moved on to start their own company. No Distributor costs= much cheaper but same quality. I use both.
Hi I made this deodorant and it is been amazing. Just one question it always melt when it gets in contact with my skin how I can make it more firm (solid) ? Thank you
Awesome! I've been looking through tons of deodorant recipes, I'm going to have to try this one. Thank you for sharing this. I hope it works on my teenage boy he's extra icky when he prespires. Congrats on your new baby bull. So cute! Thank you for sharing this.
Awe... God knew what he was doing when he made babies.... To irresistible!!! I like ylang ylang essential oil in a homemade deodorant I tried... Smells so good!!!
I was thinking about the time you got the funnel, get your funnel girl. Lol. I might try that. We all are sensitive to deodorant. Good looking calf. That's my next step is AI ing. I met someone at state fair this year that lives up your way that teaches it and has two classes a year. Great job on the video!
Andrea do you use soda that is aluminum free ? I only discovered a few years ago there was aluminum in baking soda so now i by mine from the health food store...Young Living has a plant up here in the northeast corner of BC they harvest and process black spruce
I think I ordered them from cultures for health. I'm not sure they still carry them though. I have seen them in health food stores too. Some people wash out empty ones from the store also.
I should try this, I switched to a brand that is supposed to be all natural, but is expensive. Do u have an idea about how much it costs to make one deodorant? Thanks for the recipe. Fun to see the momma cow and her baby, we used to milk cows, miss that part if it. How many cows do u milk?
Mine come in under a dollar each, once you have the containers, which can be used over and over. All depends on ingredients, if your buying in bulk, if you have bees, and so on. Even buying in small quantities, I can’t see it being as much as 2 bucks a stick...
when I made my homemade deodorant with tea tree and baking soda, I used also coconut oil and I think lavender oil { not your recipe}. after using it for a while I got a rash. don't know what in it I was allergic to. maybe tea tree, maybe baking soda. haven't try another homemade one since. maybe i'll try yours & see. just saying.
Making deoderant has been on my too do list ever since I saw Jaime at Guildbrook make some... just haven't gotten there yet- I believe I have all the ingredients I need for this recipe so hope to give it a try (when I find some free time) :) Thank you and what an adorable bull calf!!

Yes, it will harden.
So neat. Thank you for sharing.
Oh how sweet he is. Thanks, you made my morning with that little surprise
The clay is also good to mix with water or apple cider vinegar for a face mask and hair mask
Thank you so much for the recipe! I've tried the straight baking soda and it did not work for us. Which means we gave up and went back to commercial deodorants. I can't wait to try this method!
Thx for this recipe! Congrats on your calf and your success at AI. Maybe you could do a video on how that is done? it would be interesting.
I switched to a mineral salt stick many years ago, but I think this recipe sounds like a great alternative. You never know when certain things will be hard to come by.
I will be trying this recipe. “Natural” deodorants are so expensive. Thanks for sharing and love the sweet surprise. God bless y’all!

Thea prefers hers without essential oil scents. I do mine with Teatree, Bergamot, and Frankensence, smells wonderful!
how many drops of these oils do you use?
I do 30 drops in the recipe, which makes 3 deodorants. I’ve done a video, it will go up tomorrow

I have a link Lane is posting in the description. Thanks!
is there a smaller version to make a sample jar?
Loretta Tay!or maybe just cut everything by fourths.
I may be allergic to tea tree oil, so can I use grapefruit seed oil instead?
Loretta Tay!or I don't see any reason you couldn't
Could you add goat’s milk powder?
Heavenly-Dreams Dairy Goats hmmmm not sure.
Where is the Bentonite Clay in the recipe?
hey there, it's at 8:10 and the amount is 2TBSP
I suggest you check out Jade Bloom I use them and they cost less
What was the clay you used in homemade deodorant? Where do I get it?
bentonite clay. You can get it through our amazon link or any health food store.
Mine is similar to yours. But I have a question? Does it stain your shirts? Also how many head you milking?
Little Jordan Farm it comes out in the wash. I have 4 in milk at all times.
@@VWFamilyFarm well good that's not to bad to handle. Especially on cold mornings...lol
@LANE, when you have a moment, add the 2 TBSP bentonite clay to the recipe in the show notes :)
thanks!
Its so hard to find women's deodorant that doesn't have aluminum! Thanks for the recipe, I will have to try that! 💜💙💜

Vivian Pavek I figured it up and it is no more than $2 per stick and that is with organic oil and young living EO.
@@CluelessHomesteaders okay thanks, yeah I just need to gather the supplies and give it a go
Do you still use Young Living essential oils? I don't see a link.
yes I do. Let me check on the link.
It somehow got deleted from the description. Lane is posting a link now. Thanks!!
What was the name of the site you found your recipe at?
Lori Gilmartin traditional cooking school.
Lol I just use corn starch I find the more u get away from store deodorants the less you need them
One recipe at a time. eventually one will get very self reliant.!
Hey, do you still use this. I know it's kinda ols just wondering if it still works. Ty
Absolutely! It's my go to recipe.
Is this good for teen boys to use?
Diana Orcutt my son uses it. In the hot summer he uses something else (from the store)
