I’ve been buying from native deodorant for quite some time, and love it. But I would find it interesting to try and make it. Thanks for a great tutorial
I love that brand as well but it’s so pricey so I like to make my own. I find it works about the same for me. But just like with any natural deodorant some days work better then others lol. You can also add some essential oils to it if you like a more scented deodorant, I have a couple blends listed on the blog post. Thank you so much for watching and I hope you enjoy the recipe!
Doesn’t the native brand have two ingredients that overtime - can raise the risks of getting cancer? Might be in their shampoo & conditioner but something to check out for 💗
I was glad when I saw native being offered in the market. I only have one concern. I cannot rationalize spending between 9.39 to as much as on a stick for $14. I am 60 and will not work for another 20 years. I have to economize. Why are these manufacturers conducting business like other corporations? They are raking the customer over for as much money as they can. They put on this mask of we care about the environment and "you". Truth be told, they don't. Granted it would take a little longer for them to become multi-billionaires if they only charged $4 to $5 for each container. But no. They see a need in the marketplace and use it to get rich, not to perform a service. This is a horrendous premise for most American companies doing business over the last 50 years or so.
Thank you for this video, I have tried using baking soda and I have the same problem no matter how little I use , so I will try this and see if it works out
Your skin pH is about 4.5-5.5. Baking soda is very alkaline, around 8 in pH! Arrowroot is about 5.5, Tapioca Flour is about 4. I use a little Zinc or a cream, Mandelic Acid, and Arrowroot Powder. Sometimes I use a preservative. The Mandelic Acid is a weak Alpha Hydroxy Acid. It kills bacteria on the skin that can cause odor. Another reason not to use Baking Soda.
So what you’re saying is a homemade soap should rip your skin off as it weighs in at a whopping 8 - 10 on a ph scale. Heck, tap water Ph is about a 6. Ph has nothing to do with skin sensitivity but the tolerance of the individual for the molecular properties of a chemical.
Lisa, who leaves soap on their skin? No one. It would “rip the skin off” as you put bit if you didn’t wash off the soap. Folks leave deodorant on right? Therefore a concern about the ph. What a way to reply to someone
Hi Jyothi! Yes, you can add essential oils to this. I would do about 10-15 drops per stick depending on how strong of a smell you will want. I like using rose or lavender essential oils. On the blog post, there are blends to try if you are not sure what type of oils you'd like to use. The link can be found in the description box. Hope this helps :)
@@sammiecaz I am not sure as I have always used beeswax to make it. I am thinking it might not set right. Maybe try to sub out more cocoa butter? Something that will make the bar firm enough to use. Hope this helps :)
Hi there! There’s a link to a blog post in the description box below the video. If you head over to the post and scroll down they are there for you to download free. 😃
@@aquaintlife thank you...your site is wonderful and full of good stuff, so much so I am having difficulty finding said labels, though I did scroll down several times....HELP! (:)
You can store it in the container in a cool dry place. I use my hall closet not the bathroom since the bathroom can get pretty warm with the steam. Hope this helps.
I find that the bee's wax sticks to my shirt's underarm with other recipes. Normal cold wash in the washer won't remove it. Does it do that with your recipe?
Hi Anne, I have had that happen to me before as well. I haven’t had that issue with this recipe as of yet. But it might be because this recipe only calls for 2 tbsp of it so it’s not the whole base of the recipe. I hope you find it the same for you. I know it can be frustrating to find a good natural deodorant! Good luck! Let me know how you like it if you try it. 😊
Hello. I love your video however, you mention "shea" butter when mixing the ingredients but you say "cocoa" butter when listing the ingredients. Which should you use? Thank you in advance.
Hi Courtney, sorry about the confusion. You can use either one for this recipe. Both work well. I like using cocoa butter for the subtle sweet smell it gives but that’s completely personal preference. Hope this helps. Thank you for watching!
I know some people use cornstarch in place of arrowroot in their deodorants. I have not tried this myself but it might be worth trying. Hope this helps. 😃
Hi there! I believe they are 2.65 oz. There’s a link for the exact ones I used in the description box if you have trouble finding some and in the blog post there’s a free printable label. I hope you enjoy the deodorant 😊
You know, I have never tried doing that myself. But you could try dividing part of the recipe and adding it to a small amount. I’d be curious how that came out if you wind up trying it out. I love goats milk and it so nice on the skin.
Hi Shankar, I only really make them when needed and I don’t sell them. But if you look in the description I have links to the ingredients and directions for making some. It’s really simple and easy to get the ingredients too. I hope you will give it a try 😃
I didn't realize. But just know you can use shea butter and cocoa interchangeably for recipes like this. Their both plant-based fats that help moisturize the skin.

You can sub the shea butter out for cocoa butter? Hope this helps. Good luck!
Very nice looking

how much mandelic acid powder would you use per stick?

I get multiple lesions in my pits from sea salt and baking soda
Its terrible on the skin! I hope this works for you :)
Will this work without the beeswax? If so, how much of the other ingredients to substitute would I use?

How do I store it, after I make it? As well as the ingredients that are left over. Should I refrigerate all?
You can store it in the container in a cool dry place. I use my hall closet not the bathroom since the bathroom can get pretty warm with the steam. Hope this helps.
This goes the same for the leftover ingredients. 😊

Nice...will this be oily under my arms?
I don’t feel oily and I believe the powder is what helps with this.
You missed out on the cocoa butter
Will the oils used, stain bras and shirts, and turn them yellow in the underarms?
I have not had that issue and we’ve been making this for a couple years now.

Was your recipe for one stick?
If so would I just double or triple the ingredients to make more?
Yes it’s for one stick. You can certainly double it or triple the batch to make more 🙌
Thank you for your video. I just wondering if I could melt the ingredients using microwave instead of double bowl method.
Hi there! You can just check on it every few seconds and I would also stir it a little each time you check.
Is there any alternative option for arrowroot powder

@@aquaintlife Thank you !
So which ingredient adds a fragrance to this ? Can I add any essential oil to add a fragrance?
Oh yes. I do this too sometimes. Sweet orange and grapefruit are really good ones.
