    To get better golfers need to know their distances, the PRGR is a great tool for learning how far you hit each club. The PRGR is also often suggested for swing speed training, it excels in this regard. Check out the video and please share your thoughts below!

    If you are looking at personal launch monitor, had you heard of the PRGR? If not, what launch monitors are you considering?

    The instructions that come with the PRGR HS-130A say not to use the launch monitor at an angle as it gives lower speeds. It gives the example of a target moving directly on line at 70mph. At 30 degrees of an angle, this will read as 61mph on the monitor. Might be a reason some on here are getting lower swing speeds than expected.

    I assume I can use foam ball, but wondering if it reads same speed as I use real ball.

    • @TheGolfNerd
      @TheGolfNerd  3 месяца назад

      Honestly, I’m not sure whether you can use a foam ball or not. If you do use a foam ball, the ball speed will be less and the device will give you how far that foam ball is going to travel. I don’t think this would work well with a foam ball.

    • @jp7g229
      @jp7g229 3 месяца назад

      @TheGolfNerd if I only need swing/clubhead speed when I hit a foam ball when practicing it shouldn't be an issue, right. I heard we can use something like speed training mode, but just hit a foam ball and get club head speed

    • @TheGolfNerd
      @TheGolfNerd  3 месяца назад

      @@jp7g229 as far as clubhead speed/swing speed training, I know this unit works very well for that. However, with regards to foam Balls, if you want more information on what works and what does it, you’ll need to contact the manufacturer.

    mine reads way low,club head speed and distance. It has me about 50-60mph max, and 140 yards with my 5 wood..I would estimate im about 80-90 mph by my driving range distances. Any ideas? sucks because this unit has such great reviews.

    • @TheGolfNerd
      @TheGolfNerd  Год назад +1

      Are you using this on the range or into a net? I seem to recall placing it on its product box to have it sit a little higher helped when it was giving me goofy results. I know for sure batteries at or near the end of life also provide goofy readings. Hopefully this help!!!

    Still confused ..if my main concern is dialing in distances what do you recommend? And swing speed? And both ? Thanks I appreciate it ..I’m only gonna get one shot at this as I finally persuaded the wife..if you know what I mean ..been looking at swing caddie,flight scope.Have not considered prgr until seeing you video..Thanks

    • @TheGolfNerd
      @TheGolfNerd  Год назад

      I recommend using total distance. I found if I set it to driver on all clubs I saw similar distances to what I would play on the course. That was with the previous iteration it may have improved. For distance and swing speed I’d highly recommend the PRGR.

    I'm trying to use the PRGR 120A in my 2 car garage with a Go Sport net (black netting with a dark green tarp behind the net). I do have my car parked in the garage with white netting between the car & the hitting mat. The ball is hit 8 feet from the net & I have the PRGR positioned like you have it (4 feet behind the ball & level with my small Country Club Real feel mat - there is carpet between the mat & the PRGR). I've also tried the PRGR at different heights. My carry reading on the PRGR is very short (less than 100 yds for a 7 iron which I normally hit around 130 yds). On the range the PRGR is more accurate. Any suggestions to improve the PRGR carry reading indoors? Thanks, Tom

    • @TheGolfNerd
      @TheGolfNerd  2 года назад

      Great question. I think this is one area where the PRGR struggles. I believe the carry distances are a little off. Are you seeing around the 130 yardage on total distance?

    • @tomgee632
      @tomgee632 2 года назад

      @@TheGolfNerd Hi, No. The total distance is only around 10+ yards longer than the carry distance. Have you compared the 120A with the 130A model indoors ?

      I noticed if I set the PRGR to 6 iron & hit my 7 iron the distances are a bit better

    Like many comments, the prgr is not that accurate for me. I have used it for a couple years and it's ok to track if your swing speed is consistant. Yardage and smash factor are way off. I think if the smash factor was accurate it would give a more realistic distance. Most of my smash on the prgr is 1.05 with every club. On trackman I average in the 1.40-1.50 range. Swing speeds are better. An example 7i swing speed 87, smash 1.05, carry 130. On trackman swing 87, smash 1.45 , carry 160. The latter is pretty typical of my 7i when playing.

    The comments below do not agree with your 1 year assessment, and you are also agreeing with the negitive comments on distance. what good is the monitor if it does not have accurate distance and you need to fool it with the driver and use other clubs. None of that is mentioned in your video after 1 years use ??

      @@TheGolfNerd I guess what I am trying to say is several people said that the distance is way off, and unless I am reading the replies wrong the The Golf Nerd agrees that the distance is way off, however that was never mentioned in the video, so I am interested in this due to the low price but am confused. Is it accurate according to The Golf Nerd or Not.

    • @TheGolfNerd
      @TheGolfNerd  Год назад +1

      @@patrickpigeons1702 sorry man, I hadn’t seen your question. It is very accurate, almost ridiculously so given it’s cost. It’s not quite as easy to use next to say a Mevo plus, but that’s an $1800 difference. So other than the finesse required to get the best performance, the thing is very impressive for ~$200.
