    Just purchased a PRGR BLACK through your link. Glad you can get a bit of cashflow. Combining your videos (old and new) and videos from SagutoGolf, I’ve been working on fixing my 24-year-old fade/slice into straight/draw since the quarantine started. Been relatively successful, and even now leading me to be motivated to lose weight plus working more on my flexibility. Thought to treat myself with this launch monitor you recommended. Who knows...if I keep progressing, I might look to get a new set of irons plus a new fitting session once the shutdown is over (currently playing a set of custom fitted but 14 years ago Cleveland CG4). Thank you for your work. Thank you for what you are doing for the game of golf. Thank you for embracing technology and better proven teaching methods.

      Nelson James I believe all swings are unique, all physiques are unique, and all teachers are unique. I will do my best to continue to take the best for me from Clay and the best for me from Saguto to create the best unique golf swing that my body and mind are capable of. Most of the time, I believe the more information I obtain, the better. It’s up to me to utilize it or not depending on the testing results. Saguto can’t possibly be all bad, can it?

      @@TopSpeedGolf Received the PRGR today. Can you confirm that I received the right product? Instead of saying PRGR BLACK, the one I received says it is a PRGR RED EYES POCKET Model HS-120A. I did a little research online. Looks like maybe there is a model called PRGR Black which is what you recommended. And then there is another model called PRGR Red Eyes Pocket (which is only going for like $85 on eBay but the one on eBay has a physically red outer shell). I did get one that is black in color but the product says it is a "RED EYES POCKET." I just want to make sure I got what I actually paid for. I paid $195. Thank you.

    After scouring the data I bought the PRGR monitor just before the lockdown. I'd taken a note of my distances at the range (with my new clubs)
    I now hit balls into a net a couple of yards away and it pretty much gave me the same distances.
    I'm now working on my swing speed & upping my smash factor to get them both consistent.
    ps. I'd looked at the mevo, sc200 & sc 300 and also the Ernst Sports ES14 beforehand
    For the money the PRGR wins hands down

    Great reviews. I'm a PGA professional and work for club manufacturer as a fitter. I have Flightscope Mevo. Other than this device requires a ball I like it most as I can fit with it. The reports and shot detail by club is much better than the Swing Caddie SC300 I tested. The SC300 device was really good but the App reports were limited and usually didn't work. It appeared as if the data collected properly but then looking at the data was when you realized that the device and app were not communicating to each other. I carry the Mevo in my bag and can track data on Shots for example on T- Shots.

    Good video, I’ve had a few of these devices, Ernest sports ES 12, 14 and now have Garmin G80. Biggest issue I’ve seen is having to constantly adjust devices position on grass as you move out of your divots. These are best used with turf mats even though I don’t entirely like hitting off of mats but at least you can set your device down in one spot and don’t have to worry about moving it.

      Glenn Watson I wish I could give you an answer but I’m still waiting on my mat and net to arrive. Apparently those are on serious backorder. I liked the G80 because you don’t have to manually enter what club you’re hitting each time and of course the option to “play” any of the courses on the device. It’ll be the only way I get to play August National lol.

      Hi Michael, thanks for sharing. Yeah, all launch monitors (even the $18k ones) work better off of mats. The debris from the divots mess with them. That being said, the PRGR has a pretty big range where you can place it. I beleive it's 3.5 feet to 5.5 feet behind it. So, you have 2 feet of divots you can make before you have to move it. You may never have to move it if you always place your ball at the back of a divot. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor

    The Mevo's outdoor option is legit. The indoor setting is finicky, I was getting bad data since I had metal near it, took it outside (indoor setting) and the power lines next to my house was throwing it off. Summary: If you want for outdoors it's a go! If you need for indoors make sure you look at all the requirements so it will give you the results that you can believe in.

    Hi Clay
    Great video thank you. Does the PRGR read wedge shots ok? I'm most interested in carry distance.

    • @TopSpeedGolf
      @TopSpeedGolf  3 года назад

      My personal opinion is it does okay with wedge shots. You have the option to choose which wedge you're measuring, but every wedge isn't the same loft, e,g sand wedge could be 54, 55 or 56 degrees. Also, you can manipulate the loft on a wedge pretty easily and this wouldn't translate very well with how this device works. It measures clubhead speed and ball speed very well, but it estimates distance based on the club you selected and the ball and clubhead speed. If you can afford the expense of something like a Mevo+ or Skytrak, these would be better suited to your needs. Clay is reviewing the Mevo+ right now and his initial results have been very good. A review should be coming in the near future. Best of luck! Nate | TSG Instructor

    • @TopSpeedGolf
      @TopSpeedGolf  4 года назад +1

      Unfortunately, there isn't anything economical that's going to give you good club data. The SkyTrak is decent for ball flight but no club data. It's just reading what the ball does. You might be able to get a used FlightScope for cheap. Maybe not right now. I'm guessing there is some price gouging going on. One thing I'd like to mention is that the launch monitors like FlightScope, Trackman and GCQuad are nice to have and great to see exactly what the numbers are but they aren't 100% necessary. If you understand some ball flight laws then you can just look at your ball flight and see where you're striking it on the face and adjust what you're doing as needed. I would recommend checking out Trackman University if you want to learn. It's free! Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor

    • @TopSpeedGolf

      Thanks for sharing. My experience with the SkyTrak is that it doesn't do well with club head speed because it only reads what the ball does. Having something to supplement the SkyTrak like a PRGR can give you an accurate club head speed too.

    I am glad that you are recommending what you believe in and is good for especially the average golfer or senior golfer even. I have the sc200 and tested their new versions before switching to the mevo myself. At some point I might check out and test the mevo plus but much larger price point. One advantage is angle of attack. Did not know about prgr though had their clubs in the past as spent many years in japan (alongside other Japanese brands). The mevo advantages over the sc’s include the app and video capabilities so no comparison re value for money.

    How do any of these devices account for variable lofts in different clubs eg super improvement clubs etc. does the distance algorithm “assume” some industry standard? How about the 18k monitors-same question. Thanks

    • @TopSpeedGolf
      @TopSpeedGolf  4 года назад

      The more expensive devices like FlightScope are reading the club data and ball data so no need to know what club is. It will have enough data to know the distance from that. If it knows the launch angle like Meco then it can get a good idea without needing to know what club you're hitting. The SC200 gives you to the option to adjust the lofts. Others like the PRGR don't but still is pretty accurate. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor

    What’s the best device that can display ball flight? and possibly club path

    • @TopSpeedGolf
      @TopSpeedGolf  4 года назад

      FlightScope, TrackMan, GCQuad. If you want the best and accurate club data then you'll have to pay a lot. None of the other devices are going to give you club data tother than Zepp and Blast and those are not accurate. Honestly, something to read your swing speed and ball speed is all you need. You can see your ball flight. If you hit a slice then you know you need to change your face and path most likely. You don't need a $18k machine to tell you that :-). You can't really tell what your speed is though. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor

    Is it more realystic than the swing caddy sc200 (for bith the carry distance and the smash factor) ?
    Regards.

    • @TopSpeedGolf
      @TopSpeedGolf  4 года назад

      Hi Vincent, the PRGR was within 5 yards on well struck shots compared to the FlightScope. I'm not sure what the average was. If you didn't hit it will then it was off because it doesn't know if you hit a snap hook or slice. The ball speed was dead on almost every time and the club head speed was on average 1.5% which is the best of any device we have tested. Keep in mind that using range balls will make your ball speed numbers and smash factor go down.

    @Top Speed Golf - Clay Ballard Unfortunately, just cancelled my PRGR order. Per their manual, they only accurately measure BALL speeds up to 80 m/s (178.9 mph). While that's plenty of speed any recreational player needs (probably all a pro needs as well), I've been working to get back into those speeds above their stated tolerances (various under/over speed training). Wonder if Garmin G80 has similar limitations. Thoughts? I would imagine that you will run into their upper limit measurements as well. Thanks.

The device gives distances wrong by at least 40 yards about! 35 to over 70 yards to be closer to reality in comparison to my usual distances at the range. For example, 95 yards with the 7 while I carry the ball more or less 150 yds usually. How come? Even worse with the hybrid, the PRGR LM records 110 yards when I carry the ball 70 yards farther on the range. A bit disappointing.
