I've had mine about a year and love it. Intermittent misreads, but all in all fantastic device. Very accurate, great interface, I personally do enjoy the sim software. Some people complain about it, but I think it's very fun and graphics good enough.
I purchased this product about 3 weeks ago and I completely agree with Mark. I am having so much fun with it and I believe the numbers are helping me to improve my game!
Hey Mark, great review! I’ve been using this unit since last May. I agree completely with your analysis! Very very good product, the app is great, and accuracy/consistency for the price is very hard to beat. Also I’ve never taken it on the course.
Yeah, but a lot of time and effort went into the testing and also into making and editing the video, even putting his thoughts into words. It’s what he does for a living (what’s wrong with that?) and I appreciate the information from someone who is interested, even expert, in using technology and data to improve golfers. So thanks, Mark!
Awesome tech review Mark! I’m impressed at how far things have moved along with these things… Wow. I’m definitely gonna look into this when I get the chance. The whole freemium option is something I’m more interested in. LOL.
Absolutely agree@@olliehembrough403 Lots of clickbaity titles lately that don't really grab me. The course vlogs are what bought me to this channel, I miss them. The banter between Rory, coach and Mark was so good.
@@olliehembrough403I'm the exact opposite. Used to watch the odd one back in the day with James Pickard et al, but I really don't care for course vlogs. Gimme the instruction/info
It's gotten so much better since it's inception. Graphics are being beta tested now. If they add the necessary club data aoa, club path and dynamic loft would be amazing
I have the previous version of the Rapsodo launch monitor (MLM). The little red device that you set your iPad or phone on. I loved it and use it all the time. A few weeks ago it stopped working. It stopped reading the shots. The light should go from blue back to green after a shot and instead it was staying blue. It was stuck on blue and wouldn't read any new shots. I contacted support and they said there was a bug and they were working on fixing it. As of today 6/13/24, there's still no fix. The device is unusable. Will I have the same problem with the new MLM2Pro? I'm considering buying it but concerned I'll have the same problem with a software bug. Any feedback? Thanks!
Hi Mark, did you know that the tripod can be used to stand your phone or iPad on, so you can turn around and see the data and a video of your swing after each shot.
Hi Mark, thanks for the comprehensive review. Could you please clarify something regarding the swing speed without a ball. At one point you said the swing speed jumped around a bit but then in other bits of the video you say that the swing speed is calculated partly via ball speed? Does the device 100% measure swing speed without a ball? And if it does, is it consistent or does it jump around? Thanks for your help.
Gaining on course yardage data would improve my game dramatically. Can I see total averages, yardage and dispersion, by club from all sessions? Can you filter by year and by season? 38° winter vs 90° summer is very different.
It’s a specific pattern. You can get ball dot stickers already laid out in the pattern or a dot template to sharpie them on. I didn’t have much luck with the ball dots so I just stick to the official ones
Hi Mark, thank you for making this video, very informative. Please can you let me know if you would recommend this over the Garmin R10, considering all of the additional subscription costs?
Hi Mark. Nice video and good information. A question though. Can it compensate for range balls? On the course i play pro v1 which im hoping should get different Numbers then the rangeballs. Either way you probably learn enough with a device like this.
I’ve had one for a while and it does well with irons and wedges, but my Driver and fairway woods it seems to under estimate my launch and ball flight. It’s telling my driver ball flight is only 40-45 feet and I’m seeing easily 90-100 feet in actual ball flight
You get around 5 free courses with e6 but the game changer is the connector that allows you to play GSPro. It isn’t officially supported by Rapsodo but it’s not difficult to get it set up
@@benbarratt570Do you mean by "It isn't officially supported by Rapsodo" that Rapsodo have not been paid any licensing fees by GSPro, and that GSPro users are simply hacking the Rapsodo software? Seems like someone using the neighbours' WiFi without permission - OK if nobody objects, but not something that most honest people would want to do.
Great review Mark, I’ve been waiting for this one. Where do you sit on this compared to the Swing Caddie 4 you reviewed ? I have the MLM original and it’s a faff to use but this looks simpler apart from getting ball in box, is the SC4 more convenient to take outside ?
This feels more loved and better supported. I do like the numbers for on the course with the swing caddie but the Rapsodo is a fuller device for me. Better all round.
Which is best now? What about mevo plus these measures angle of attack metrics? Pr the R10 that infers club path metrics…. Can you compare all of these, please? Which of these are best for hitting into a net? Cheers! Btw, I’m in Devon. How can i book a lesson with you?
Mark, is there a portable device you could recommend for people like me with questionable distance vision? I find it difficult to play alone because I am very capable of losing balls in plain sight. I can usually have some idea based on feel, but this is an outdoor game and feel only goes so far if I lose sight of the ball immediately on impact.
That's what I'm looking for too. Have you had any progress in this? At the moment I think the rapsodo is the best as you get a tracer live on the spot.
Holy cow this comment section is stuffed full of bot comments using overly fancy words about how good the video is. Mark, any thoughts on this? I've been a viewer for ages, but the recent influx of bot comments is overwhelming.
@@MarkCrossfield Agreed. Not suggesting that the videos you make aren't top notch, because they are absolutely quality. @@briandavidson2684 This must be wrong, one of the main points of a launch monitor is spin, the dots are only needed for the indoor setting with very little flight distance?
Great review! How does the MLM2 Pro work with range ball distances? Is it adding distance on to give estimated total distance, or is it just giving "true" carry of whatever the range ball flies?
It's an impressive price until you realize that it has a high subscription cost that if you don't pay every year it doesn't work. Remember when buying an item meant you owned the item? Now you buy an item and have to pay $200 a year to keep item working.... No thanks.
I understand where you’re coming from, but the best “affordable” launch monitor without a subscription is the Mevo+ at $1900. It would take you 6 years in subscription costs to equal that cost. It also does work if you don’t pay the subscription, you just lose some additional software features.
Consoles has a subscription for games you own for $70 you have to pay a smartphone fee for a smartphone you own. You have to pay for gas you own. Thats just the world we live in and if you want basic then you get basic
The disconnects between the app and the monitor device are sooooo frustrating. Happens in both iOS and Android. Rapsodo is doing nothing to address the issues. It’s. Even going on for at least 5 months through multiple firmware and app versions.
Considering this manufactorer's history with android i dont trust any reviews which only test it with apple products..... And very worrysome that they say you must use "special" balls. Considering they will be worn and need replacement after a week or two...
You can buy a template that you place over your golf ball of choice and using a sharpie marker apply the special marks the Rapsodo uses to measure data.
You need to double check your review before posting. Subscription is $199 not $99. Also, the device by itself is practically useless because spin and access to 3rd party software is locked behind a paywall. Kind of shady of a company in forcing you to have a subscription when this thing is still in beta mode and doesn't even have a proper GSpro connection (it was created by someone in the community). It blows my mind how they can charge $199 to connect to an app that they didn't even create. I really hope Garmin comes out with something identical to the R10 subscription model with a camera. They will destroy Rapsodo if they do.
This is NOT the best training aid for golf. It is very good but it does not have Angle of Attack. Rapsodo inform me its coming end of 2024! How can 'RUclips experts' make videos on Angle of Attack being important and then sing the praises of a device that doesn't do it?
Can’t accept subscription based feature unlock. If it costs a company money to provide a service (ie cloud computing, support, updates etc) then sure some ongoing charges make sense. HOWEVER these features are literally built into the product that you have BOUGHT and you have to PAY >25% of the product cost year on year to really use the product!!!? It’s like car companies trying to charge a yearly fee for features like seat warmers… Shouldn’t encourage these behaviours by supporting these companies…
Had mine for 4 months, and used it everyday it’s not rained. Love it and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for more data to work with
