“Do everything in love.”

This is so precious. I lost my mom last week and I love that you guys are sharing this passion together. And being creative together. Give your mama a hug.
What a great interview. I hope the younger generations of your family keep this for decades. My own mom passed away at 61 years old, and we're never going to have a chance to record her opinions and memories and knowledge like this. Moms are so special.
Your mother is a very interesting lady. You are very special to have a mother like her. What a beautiful person. Keep up quilting, I love to quilt but I don’t, have not done as many as I would like to. Have a great day both of you!❤❤
Thank you! You too!
What a wonderful interview. Mother and daughter enjoying the same hobby. That is a wonderful experience to share. Keep up the beautiful job that you ladies do. Thank You for sharing with us.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hello Carolyn, I have loved to listen to the interview, it was so interesting to hear about your changes in taste to modern and bright quilts. I think quilting is a great American tradition in families which we don't have here in Europe. I learned sewing from my grandmothers who made beautiful clothes. But it's the quilting, the many bright colours that have fascinated me. Your daughter's beautiful and modern patterns are amazing. Hope to hear from you some time! Greetings from Germany! It's 3.00 a.m. here now and I woke up. Best wishes! Andrea
Thank you Andrea! I am very proud of Suze.
Nice to meet you, Mom! My mom taught me to sew clothing in the 1970's.
I moved to MN 15 yrs ago, so many quilters here! Great fun!
Going to try my first FPP, a Dear Jane.
Take Care! ❤
Wow! That is quite a project for your first FPP. I'd love to see the finished project!
What a great interview ❗️
So nice of you to document your mother’s story for future generations.😊
My mother never quilted but she did make our clothes, drapes and bedding. She taught me to make Barbie clothes on her machine. Then in college I taught myself how to quilt. My mom is my biggest supporter and cheerleader. Great at helping me choose colors and quilting designs.
We could never live without our mommas.
Lovely interview. What a blessing to share that bond with your mom.
We agree!
Great to see you both! Great interveiw of two wonderful ladies!!!! Love you both
Glad you enjoyed it!
I love the coyness at the beginning - a random member of the Revelation Quilt Guild … just a random member … LOL!
LOL
This was so nice to watch. What a wonderful gift you are to each other! I wish I still had my Mom. We were best friends. Thank you for sharing! 😊
You are so welcome!
Hi mom! We started at the same time. I remember because "everyone" was collecting/swapping for Y2K charm quilts. (I am a scrappy quilter who also loves string quilts as a result & Another crazy coincidence, I don't care for paper piecing either.)
That was the sweetest interview. I'm still learning and hoping that one day, my two daughters would love to quilt and create as much as I. I did have them make a quilt with me for school. Carolyn, you're a very sweet lady, and your daughter is doing a superb job teaching others. Many blessings to both, and please keep creating. ❤
Thank you, Grace!
Hi Carolyn nice to meet you. Great interview. I have enjoyed your daughter for some time now.
It is nice to meet you, Carolyn! Lovely interview.
I love your Mama Bear ❤ So fantastic to meet you Carolyn and hear your story. Hi from Australia 👋🏻
Hi Julie, so nice to meet you, too. I see your quilts in the Revelation quilt guild. They are indeed beautiful!
You have a sweet mother. 🥰
Yes I do!
That was wonderful! I learnt to sew from watching my mum make everything from undies, dresses and bed linen to even upholstery. We lived in the tropics then and had no use for quilts, but the skills have served me well for quilting in Australia where we live now. I’m really looking forward to doing one of your kaleidoscope quilts soon. Your mum looks beautiful and I would love to have met her personally. Thank you for sharing her with us.
Thank you! Moms are very special!
I love to bind quilts as well. Loved this interview!
I enjoyed this interview very much. And just wanted to say I love watching Revelation Quilts too.
Thank you 😊
I grew up down near where your mom lives. It was called Valley Park. We had a Rosemount address, Apple Valley phone exchange, and Lakeville city and water but we weren't in any of those cities. The running joke was that either we were so horrible that it was a shared burden OR we were so great, everyone wanted a piece of us. I went to elementary school in Valley Park, middle school in Apple Valley, and senior high in Rosemount. The elementary was brand new in 1971, the year we moved from Bloomington. The entrance to the school had a huge bird cage with a fish pond around it and benches to sit on around that. We were often late for class because we just wanted to stay with the birds and fish. LOL

Growing up in Burnsville, I had friends who lived in Valley Park. I remember it well!
@@revelationquilts Now it's grown/developed so much that you can't tell where one area starts and another ends.
@@revelationquilts I have friends from Burnsville that I met when attending the Vo-Tech while in high school. Lost track of them. Only remember one name - John Tate. Wonder where he's at now.
I had a friends that lived in Valley Park at one time also. That is not far from where we live now.
@@carolyngerkin8420 I grew up at 16467 Foliage Avenue - how close are you to that?
Lovely interview, thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!🩷
Hello, Carolyn :) I've been following your daughter's channel for some time now and have made several of her very creative quilts.
So far, I have 5 grandchildren. I am nearing 70 and I, too, am making quilts for future grand and great grandchildren (that I won't be here to meet). I've made more than 60!! I guess I figured I'd make a vast array to match any taste -- haha!
You mentioned that you used to hand quilt. Where did you learn, and do you have an practical tips for someone who might want to give it a try? I don't particularly enjoy hand sewing and, at this point, my arthritis is a hinderance. But a few of the sweet and frilly quilts I've made would be even sweeter with some hand quilting.
Thanks in advance :) It was wonderful to meet you!
I did hand quilt all my first quilts and other projects. I, too, have arthritis which makes it more difficult to get the fingers to move the way they need to for the traditional way to hand quilt. I would suggest that you look for a few tutorials that can teach the proper way to do it. Have fun with it. I agree that some quilting projects look best with hand quilting. Thank you.
🥰🥰🥰
You Mom and I have the same hair style. Her hair is white and so is mine. I will be 76 years old very soon. I finished High School in 1966. Are we close to the same age? I don't cook as much as I used to; because, I also love to eat what I cook. I sew at home most of the time. Go to your public and check out some of their quilt books. They also have quilt magazines. Plus, check out RUclips quilting videos for free patterns, lessons, and ideas.
My mom will be 83 this year. She is an amazing lady!
We have a bunch in common.
