Wow what an incredibly nice thing to say! Thank you so much. You don’t know how much Ted and I appreciate comments like these and people like you! We’re glad you’re enjoying our channel! Have a great week!!
Hi to one of our favorite pinecones! Oh my goodness you’re so right- after seeing them all laid out like that- we had the same exact thought. “This is A LOT of cabinets!” 🤣 we’ll get it done though!
Omg !! I have similar cabinets from a home we just bought last year. The home was built in 1910. I have been researching this entire year and this is the best video. I know what to expect.. Thank You !!!!!
Oh wow! That’s awesome! Haha if they were in similar shape as ours, just expect the worst! It’s a lot of work, but it CAN be done! Best of luck to you! Send us pics when you’re all finished!
Love the fact that you refinished the cabinets! A lot of work but well worth it. And I saw the Thieves cleaner. It sure leaves a nice clean smell and feeling after using . I use it all the time. Blessings.
I like the metal I am sure you have googled them. But they first came out in 20s and we're popular from the 30s through the 50s. And are becoming popular again looks like a good call on keeping them have a great day.😊
I’ve had a hard time finding a lot of info on the Homart ones! The house was moved to it’s current location in the 50’s so we’re *guessing* that’s when there from, but they definitely could be older! We sure hope they turn out ok!
Isn't it crazy how during world war II there was a metal shortage and they were scrapping everything and then boom right after the war. We all got metal cabinets in our kitchens. Complete kitchen cabinets made of metal. I just think they're so cool
We had originally intended to do a whole video on what we learned (but never got around to it) Here’s some of the major points we would’ve discussed. Use a better degreaser Sand EVERYTHING Hang cabinets to paint Don’t move everything around Lighter coats of primer Higher PSI on sprayer Clear coat before installing Strain it all (paint/clearcoat) Use high quality products/ paint Hope this helps! Good luck with your project! We hope you have a great day! 😊🌲❤️
@@TheLiFeInPines amazing!!! I used to work for a paint store so I got the good stuff! SANDING IS A MUST!! You really did an incredible job. Thank you again!
ya most of the time people buy new but i understand what doing ya sand all and re-prime and repaint and fix what you can and can get replacement sheet metal and you can pop revet in place
There was really only one place where it had rusted through. But it’s on the side where you’ll never see it! They are really cool and we’re excited to be able to restore something so old!
Definitely time for a haircut, CJ 🤭 And those Crocs are not OSHA approved young man 😂 The cabinets are a TON of work but I believe it'll be worth it as everything ya'll have done this far has been! 😉 A dark green would probably be good for the lower cabinets with natural wood shelf uppers. It would tie in nicely with the rest of the house. I'd also recommend fitting a well-sealed piece of wood into the sink base cabinet to cover the rusted cabinet floor while also adding a hidden gem of character! P.S. I'm finally almost caught up on ALL of your videos!! 😊
Lol! Ted actually does like CJ’s hair! I don’t mind it as long as he keeps it brushed! And I’m sure you’re right! Everhthing has been worth it thus far and we’re hoping the cabinets are no different!! Lol oh just stay tuned to see what we have planned for the paint colors and design of these cabinets! We do have a plan for the sink base as well!
@@TheLiFeInPines I'm impatiently waiting! 🤣😁🥰 As for CJ's hair... I just went through _months_ of fighting my son to let me cut his hair until he finally agreed (because it kept getting in his mouth when he ate! 🤣) so I'm still getting over that whole ordeal 😆🤷♀️
Thanks so much! Ted and I appreciate your feedback! Honestly- we use our phones and the free version of iMovie. We do have a go pro hero 9 we use mainly for night lapses bc our sky is so beautiful up here. I do look forward to the day when we are able to invest in a nicer camera and upgraded editing software! For now, we are doing the best with what we have!
Yes! I’m on it all the time. Are you talking for replacement cabinets? I’m currently on the hunt for a double Drainboard sink! Looking on marketplace daily.
The tops of ours were held by 4 flat head screw/nuts at the very top of the cabinet. You have to remove the drawers and reach in (crawl in) to loosen them. 😖🫣 Hope this helps Bonnie! 🌲❤️😊
I found your page, and I've been binge watching from your first show. I love you guys, what a wonderful family!
Wow what an incredibly nice thing to say! Thank you so much. You don’t know how much Ted and I appreciate comments like these and people like you! We’re glad you’re enjoying our channel! Have a great week!!
What a job! You guys will take on anything, no fear😳. What ever color, I’ll bet they will be beautiful ❤❤.
Awe thank you! I wouldn’t say *no* fear. I always tell Teddy, “I just do things scared!!” But we are excited to see how they turn out!!
A lot of hard work but very rewarding.
Hi Micky! Yes… we’re hoping they turn out great! It’ll be worth the work!
Love those cabinets
Thank you! We do too, and are hoping they turn out!
That's a lot of cabinets and lots of work. This pinecone is glad I just got to watch it happen vs having to do it myself.
Hi to one of our favorite pinecones! Oh my goodness you’re so right- after seeing them all laid out like that- we had the same exact thought. “This is A LOT of cabinets!” 🤣 we’ll get it done though!
Oh my! I just inherited an old house with the exact same cabinets, sink and everything, except mine are avocado green. Wow, just wow!!
That is awesome! Avocado green, though! 😳 Do you plan on keeping them?
i love those cabinets all metal built in a time when things were built to last
Exactly! We both love these cabinets!
I think a pastel powder blue or light sage green would look great on those cabinets! Y’all are an inspiration, no job too big!
We’re leaning toward the sage-y green for sure! And thank you!! That was such a nice thing to say!
I think you saw the next episode, right? Where we reveal the color? You were not far off at all!!
And thank you so much, you are too kind.
POR15 would be my choice for rust inhibitor. It seals out moisture stopping the progression of rust
Thank you for this recommendation!! We will look into it!
We will have to look for that! Thanks so much, Greg! We’ve got a lot of other projects and we will definitely try this product out!

They were a LOT of work! But we also think they were worth it! We’ve been using thrives for over 7 years! It’s the best!
Love the video as always keep up the hard work 💪
Thanks so much! We appreciate that!
@The LiFe In Pines ur welcome Happy Father's Day
Thank you, and happy Father’s Day to you as well!
Thanks so much, Cedric! We appreciate that!
I have found Burt Chance before Raising Hope! J/K. Those cabinets will be epic. Can’t wait to see them done.
Thanks so much!! We’re very hopeful that they’ll turn out great!
Lol! Thanks so much, they’re turning out great! Stay tuned to see the finished product!

@@TheLiFeInPines I would say 50s is probably right since the house was moved then I think it cool that you are reusing them they look great.
Aqua blue is a must.
I’m not sure how aqua would jive with the rest of the house, but it’s a good suggestion!! We’re still not sure what color we’re going to go with!
😁👍👍 🧹🧴👨👩👦 invasion of stink bugs, beautiful scenery good job, have a great weekend.
It was terrible! Hate those bugs!! They’re scary and they bite! Minnesota is so beautiful in the summer! We hope you have a great weekend as well!

That’s so true! 😆 They are so cool! We often wonder why they ever went away? 🌲
I luv that blue color in cabinets. Ya know they have very nice green colored ones as well. Gray is calming but does it reveal beauty?
Hi there! We are still deciding on colors- but I am leaning toward a green color!
Maybe the pine beetles (sawyer beetles) are attracted by the paint fumes. There seems to be more around Jenna than Ted.
That would be just my luck! I never knew they were called sawyer beetles! They are so so bad this year!!
I wonder if the paint product had turpentine in it?
I'm working on one in my rental that's just beautiful, but it needs a total redo so thank you so much for the inspiration tips and tricks
We had originally intended to do a whole video on what we learned (but never got around to it) Here’s some of the major points we would’ve discussed.
Use a better degreaser
Sand EVERYTHING
Hang cabinets to paint

Lighter coats of primer
Higher PSI on sprayer
Clear coat before installing
Strain it all (paint/clearcoat)
Use high quality products/ paint
Hope this helps! Good luck with your project! We hope you have a great day! 😊🌲❤️

The title should have been "The Invasion of the Pine Beetles"
No kidding! They were SO bad!

Amazing work!

Love your filming style...what do you guys use for a camera and editing software? Great job on the cabinets!

Actually I have seen old metal cabinets in Red with silver handles?
Red is pretty bold and I don’t think I’m enough of a risk taker to go red with them! That would look really great in the right house, though!
Sage green? White? Cream?
Oh my goodness are you in my head or what? You’re so very close!
You guys ever think of FB Marketplace?
Yes! I’m on it all the time. Are you talking for replacement cabinets? I’m currently on the hunt for a double Drainboard sink! Looking on marketplace daily.
Any idea how to get the counters off ?
The tops of ours were held by 4 flat head screw/nuts at the very top of the cabinet. You have to remove the drawers and reach in (crawl in) to loosen them. 😖🫣

I looked up and metal kitchen came out in 1926
Yes! That’s so crazy! These babies are old, that’s for sure!!
C4YT = Comment For RUclips
Spray paint them, rust oleum
Ted would be all over that! Take him back to his teenage years when he and his friends would rattle can their vehicles flat black!
Why reasearch? You assume RUclips is right which is so wrong. Rustoleum has worked for decades.
