  • Stay at the Cottonwood Koti in beautiful Northern MN!
    airbnb.com/h/c...
I know you may have thought that you've seen the end of the project house for a while, but we're still waiting on some licensing and permits to be finalized before we can rent it out. So in the meantime we figured what the heck... let's just keep on "rolling" with the projects we were putting off until later on down the road.
This weeks project was one we had actually wanted to do from the beginning but being that neither of us are kitchen designers and we're both so non-committal when it comes to something like this, we couldn't pull the trigger. This kitchen is big, you guys, like, full on dance floor big. It needed an island. It was begging for one... but not just any island.
In the end, we're so glad we waited and we couldn't be more happy with how this island turned out! We absolutely love how beautiful, versatile and functional it is.
Ted even said he wants to build another one for our kitchen at home, and I am one thousand percent on board!
We hope you enjoy this weeks episode! Who knows what we'll be doing next!

Nice work y'all. Looks great. Love the family time at the end. Before watching this video I was thinking about past family time with loved ones who are no longer here. Cherish every moment. Love and blessings.

Thank you so much! We appreciate that! I know Christmas time can be difficult for those who have lost loved ones. Ted and I can empathize with you on that, and we absolutely do cherish every moment. It's one of the best things about filming our lives, is that we have these memories forever with our family. Have a blessed week!

Once again, another awesome video. The cabinet is perfect for the kitchen. Your area is a great place to raise a family. Teddy singing and the star falling was too funny. Hope that your family has a blessed Christmas.

Thank you so much! We love it, too! And you're absolutely right, we really love it up here (most of the time!) and it really lends itself to a lot of opportunities for the kids as far as anything outdoors. Not sure what they'd do if they were confided to the city! 🤣 We, too, hope you have a wonderful and blessed Christmas, Charley!

Awesome idea and use of the leftover cabinets. The only issue l see is when others use the island that when they put it back up against the wall unless careful the island would damage the wall and leave a dent or mark on the wall. The Griswald family Christmas tree looks awesome. Was waiting for you guys to forget the saw and dig it out.The movie is my favorite and watched it last night, it’s a staple at Christmas time for my family. The ice at the lake property has never done what is does by you guys but we always were able to clear the snow and skate and even slide down the hill onto the lake . Always the best to your family

    • @TheLiFeInPines
      @TheLiFeInPines  9 месяцев назад +1

That is one of our concerns as well! I was thinking maybe a chair rail or something along that wall to protect it from damage. Good news is, if it does get damaged, I know a guy who can fix pretty much anything. 😉
Lol no digging necessary! We have a Finley and a saw. We watched Christmas Vacation just the other night, too! It's become tradition now that the kids are a little bit older.
Yeah, we don't always get this lucky with the ice! Ive only seen it like this one other time in my life. Conditions have to be just right. So fun still to shovel off a rink and skate or slide onto it from the hill! SO MUCH FUN! Blessings, Joe!

OhyVey, where do I even start .... First off, there are only 3 states in the union that even know what it means to cut your own Christmas Tree (Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan -- the U-P)
It is a wonderful and hot chocolate-filled family outing.
However, I'es thinks yous need some help in getting dem non Minnesotians to come visit this wonderful gift from God...
The Jucy Lucy Is The Best Burger You’ll Ever Eat
It seems so simple, but when two local Minnesota bars- The 5-8 Club and Matt’s Bar-put cheese right inside the burger patties and cooked them up, the most delicious cookout treat, the Juicy Lucy, was born.
Yes, Minnesota Is Home To Royalty
Bob Dylan and Prince? Yes, they’re both from Minnesota, so it’s basically the home of absolute music icons.
If you are not into Ice Fishing
Not everyone is as enthused with sitting on the cold ice for hours, and so launched the Art Shanties at Medicine Lake, and now on White Bear Lake. Local artists set up these “shanties”-even a sauna shanty!-on the ice to poke a little fun and host performances.
The Ugliest Fish Makes The Best Festival
The eelpout might be one of the grossest bottom-dwelling fish in the lake, but the International Eelpout Festival, complete with beer, fish fries, and entertainment galore, draws more than 10 times the population of the teeny tiny town of Walker where it’s held.
There’s Always A Cherry On Top
This unique statue bridge has become iconic to Minnesota. The fun Spoonbridge and Cherry may have been questioned when it was first built in the 1980s, but now the Minneapolis wouldn’t be the same without it.
The Best Days Of Summer Are In Minneapolis
Celebrating the city’s natural bodies of water, the Minneapolis Aquatennial has basically anything an outdoor-loving soul could imagine: sand castle competitions, the famous Milk Carton Boat Races, games, parades, shows, and this list could go on and on and on.
Pay No Attention To Those Cheeseheads Next Door
The rivalry between Minnesota and Wisconsin echoes through almost everything locals do, but it comes full throttle when the beloved Minnesota Vikings are playing the Green Bay Packers.
There’s Only One Thing That Brings Two Million Minnesotans Together
The Minnesota State Fair is known as the Great Minnesota Get-Together for good reason-nearly 2 million people attend every year to take in the fattest pig competition, dairy (not fairy) princesses, carnival rides, and eat all kinds of fried food. Deep-fried candy bars anyone?
Calling It The Land Of 10,000 Lakes Is Inaccurate
There’s actually closer to 12,000. They are used to the fullest extent by outdoors-loving Minnesotans for boating, tubing, fishing, and just plain sitting back and staring at the gorgeous views.
They’re Not Quite Nice... They’re Minnesota Nice
Sure the phrase has been tossed around a lot, but as the story goes, Minnesota locals aren’t afraid to speak their minds-but they’ll tell you what they think in the nicest way possible.
Snow Isn’t Just Fun, It’s A Means Of Travel
When you get snow as you get in Minnesota (read: a lot of it), you learn to be adept at traveling as best as you can. And nothing beats cross-country skiing-it’s scenic and it’s efficient.
    Minnesota Does Winter Right
You can complain about it, or you could celebrate it, and St. Paul chooses the latter. The St. Paul Winter Carnival is a long-standing, epic winter event with loads of things to do like dog sledding, drinking at the beer festival, seeing ice sculptures, and taking part in the pageant-style parade.
You Can (And Will) Fish Every Month Of The Year
More than a third of Minnesotans know how to fish (and fish well) but bundle up because fishing doesn’t stop when the snow and ice hits. Ice fishing is wildly popular in Minnesota, so pack hot chocolate packets and your warmest gloves. (Watch Grumpy Old Men to truly understand)
    This Is Your Grandma’s Marathon
Grab your running sneakers and race to the finish line in gorgeous Canal Park during one of the biggest marathons in the country-and certainly one of the prettiest. Grandma’s Marathon travels along the north shore of Lake Superior, so try to stay focused on the road.
The World’s Largest Ball Of Twine. ‘Nuff Said
Darwin is home to the world’s largest ball of twine-rolled by a single man. That man was legendary Minnesota farmer Francis Johnson.
It’s Home To Legoland-The Real Legoland
Though it’s only open a couple days a week, Brickmania Toyworks will fulfill all the wildest dreams of Lego lovers young and old, with the entire space devoted to the iconic toy. Don't forget to stop by Mall of America to see another Legoland.
FOLKS -- I have to tell ya'll that there is no better place than the Lodge in Pines to start your never-ending desire to move to Minnesota.
Heck, we even found a way to bring a Georgia Peach into the state!!!

Good morning! Your nutty cone dropping in to see what you're doing today, and spend a little time with my you. I greatly enjoyed this vlog; it was a little different in the balance of project, family and random scenes. Very enjoyable to view and appreciate. The mobile island was a terrific idea, and sourcing remaining cabinets was excellent. It is so functional in multiple ways, and ties right in with the kitchen so seemlessly. Quite and inspiration and very well done you guys! Jenna and Ted, you two make a wonderful team and I can see God's hand in your family, everything you do and the lives you are building together. Ted's sense of humor and comical antics and nature, Jenna's beauty and enthusiastic approach to life is a blessing to watch. You two are a wonderful couple and I can see your reflections in CJ and Finley. There were so many family scenes I loved ... you two dancing and clowning around, the kids at the island toward the end, Clifford and the others, activity out on the ice and Ted's belly slide of course, getting the tree and decorating, and especially Ted singing the tree topper off the tree top and your reaction, Jenna, when it happened (loved your laugh). You are a special couple and family and as odd as it might sound, I consider you friends. It took time and energy for you both to shoot this and certainly for Jenna, for her thoughful and skillful editing and music selections. I appreciate all the work, thoroughly enjoyed this and was blessed by all the family scenes you pieced into this vlog. Wishing you a blessed Christmas and celebration of the birth of our Lord and Savior and continued blessings in the new year. Larry, Central Valley, Ca.

    • @TheLiFeInPines
      @TheLiFeInPines  9 месяцев назад +2

Good (now) Afternoon, Larry! Haha sometimes its hard to make it flow when we've done so much over the course of multiple days and trying to get it into a story type format while also not boring people with our "family life." But I sure try! haha
Yes we absolutely love the way the island turned out! We knew we just wanted to paint all the cabinets at once b/c we had planned on using them eventually!
You're 100% correct when you say you see Gods hand in our family. Everything we have, He has given us. And I don't mean monetary things (although they also come from Him) But something Teddy has always said is "We don't have everything money can buy, but we have everything it can't." And that has honestly been so true for us. We have been so blessed, but also made some big sacrifices to be where we are.
Lol we are always having fun, that's for sure! Haha the timing on that star falling... we couldn't have even planned it that way!
We appreciate you and your thoughtful comments! Have a blessed week and Christmas season! 🌲
