Ok we are finally back, we're healthy and we're excited to share what we've been up to the last couple of weeks! We had to take a little bit of time off since covid ran through our house and knocked us down for a bit, but we're back and healthy and ready for the next project!
This video has a lot packed into it. We got back into the kitchen at the project house with building a refrigerator cabinet using one of the original vintage metal kitchen cabinets. This was an add-on project that we felt was needed to make the fridge placement look a little more intentional. Did we accomplish that mission?
Next up is building a new deer stand for Jenna. We've been saying we need a new one for probably about 3 years. It was old, rickety, the roof was not secure, the door was blown off, and it has already had many "temporary" stabilizing braces to keep it from blowing over. It was time.
So we scrounged up as many used materials as well could to construct a new stand for as little money as possible. It was a great project to get the kids involved and help out. We all had a lot of fun and we were officially ready for the 2023 deer hunting season!

When my dad was alive, he had a deer club. There were several of us that were members. Most of us had 4X8 enclosed deer stands. We had doors and windows that could be blocked open. Inside, we had a office chair because is was comfortable. We also had heaters to keep warm and CB's to keep in touch with each other. We also had a base station and our club house. We had fun. Enjoy yourselves. I have not hunted since I lost my dad because he was my partner.
Sorry to hear about your Dad 😕 We both have lost our Dads and know it’s not easy. Deer club sounds like a wonderful thing! I know it’s easier said than done, but we would encourage you to get back out there! Maybe find someone you could share it with… or even go alone. You might put a solid board on top refrigerator cabinet front to back, side to side. You know someone will eventually toss or place something on top that might fall to the back dropping behind refrigerator- a metal screen, board - something to avoid that possibility.
That’s probably a great idea! Didnt really think about that when we planned this thing out😖. I think a piece of plywood would be our best bet! Hope you have a great week! 🌲

Hey guys! I have a suggestion, paint the whole thing the same color as the lower cabinets and leave that top cabinet white so everything will come together. That hunt shed build was fun, specially with the kids around. Love and be safe!🤗😘🌼🇻🇪

Totally is! I was warm and toasty the whole hunting season and did feel a little spoiled. 🥰 it didn’t bring any more deer in, unfortunately.

I think the built-in looks great. The only thing I see is, the space between the top of the cabinet and ceiling will be a dust catcher. I have a dust catcher like that and it's always dusty. I always love your vlogs, have a great day.

Happy you guys are over Covid, l had it and lost 34 lbs in 3 weeks no fun at all, even after getting all the shots and boosters. If l think of all the wing and prayer moments at the cabin the winging it took over the prayers at time, nothing like old buildings to re model.Would l do it again yes!!! The cabinet may look out of place but when you can reuse something why not it’s better than it going to the dump. The deer stand looks awesome nothing like a space out of the weather, for to many years climbing with a tree stand to freeze for hours waiting only to hear a squirrel rustling thru the leaves to scare the deer away. Have a great deer season and stay safe.

Love the refrigerator cabinet. Just an idea, the space to the right side of the refrigerator looks like the perfect size for a shelving unit, basically a bookcase. It would make the dimensions more consistent and be additional space in a smaller kitchen. Basically 2 sheets of plywood would make it.

Built a stand very similar to yours's also in my garage, took it apart and rebuilt as you did plus added 2' Styrofoam between joists and on the ceiling. 5 years ago killed a nice buck and 2 does from it in three years. Then my wife of 49 years passed and I quit hunting.. Hope your stand last for your 49 years. Nice job
Thats a great idea to add the foam to the inside! I am so sorry to hear about your wife. If hunting is something that you once loved, we would still encourage you to get back out there. It's such a great way to just slow down, take everything in, reflect, appreciate nature and maybe say a little prayer in the stillness. The fridge cabinet looks good, I was a little skeptical at first but the paint really made it. Nice job on the deer blind. Thank God for family that helps, either with material, or labor, or both! Any luck huntin?

Ted, just a thought, you guys could wrap a piece of metal around the exposed edge of the plywood and paint it with chalkboard paint. And use said metal to cover the entire piece of plywood. Just a suggestion trying to cover that exposed edge with some type of trim and still have the side of the fridge useful for hanging photos, notes, etc. Cheers from a fellow husband just trying to make his wife’s house ideas come to life!
That is such a brilliant idea to wrap it in metal so the whole wall is magnetic! Seriously genius. Funny thing is- we have a metal wall in our house that we used as a “wall of fame” for all of our kids crafts, paintings, drawings, awards, team photos, etc!
@@TheLiFeInPines yeah just thought it would be cool to have it still be functional, you could even put magnetic hooks for keys and such. Or small magnetic shelves that you could whip up and it wouldn’t impede the walking area into the kitchen or the light switch area.
All such great ideas! We may have to do a little makeover sometime in the future!

Are you going to put a top on the fridge cabinet? If this were my house, I would have 2 Gabazzilion things that fall behind the fridge by Christmas.
On the Jenna Dear Stand (see what I did there!!) take some caulk and run it along the outside of the windows to keep water from getting between the glass and the frame.

We hadn't planned on putting a top on it, but we're thinking about it just so it's easier to dust.... and so that things don't end up back there and we have to move the fridge to retrieve it!
I definitely have some caulking to do in there! the metal roof was reused and I was absolutely getting rained on through the nail holes during opening weekend! 😂 We'll get it fixed up! Hope youre having a great week!

Either do a stencil (the color of the cabinets) or do the wall in that color and do a white stencil. Maybe, "The Project X House" or your logo?

One of your nutty cones dropping in to say good morning. Jenna and Ted I"m glad you shook the Covid and are okay once again - I was praying for you guys 🙏. I enjoyed this vlog very much, it's was so good to see the entire family involved. The refrigerator cabinet turned out good IMO and it made a big difference once painted. It was a good idea to do that and it did make the placement look like it was intended. The deer stand project was my favorite. It was nice seeing Finley and CJ involved so much. Finley was good at assembling and using the tools. The deer stand turned out really well and you'll get years of use and make many great memories out of it. I'm pretty sure I saw Clifford near the end; he's getting big so it was hard to be sure. Once again, great job of editing and assembling all the random shots into a very enjoyable vlog Jenna. Which camera do you guys use? You're video quality are probably some of the best I've seen this year.
Lol We primarily use my iphone 14 pro and Teds 13 pro. We do have a go pro that we use occasionally for nighttime timplapses. We'd love to upgrade to a DSLR, but 💰💰💰. To be honest though, the iphones have better built in gimbals than any stand alone DSLR. Plus theyr'e small and portable and transferring videos to the computer is seamless when using all mac products. Our next camera purchase will likely be a drone!
