    We're back at the project house this week and we are SO excited about the progress we've made! It's been so gratifying to complete rooms and see the house transform before our eyes, but this week it's a different kind of satisfaction as we were able to take something old and give it new life in the house!
    Throughout the demolition process, we took SO MUCH shiplap out of the house and- my gosh- some of the wood was so so so stinking cool. We knew from the first board we removed that we wanted to reincorporate it somewhere in the house. The transition between the kitchen and dining room (where the 2 houses were put together) was a problem just asking for one of these boards to be its solution. Make a faux beam from a single piece of reclaimed shiplap you say? No big deal, right? Oh goodness me... no. This thing was a challenge for a variety of reasons, but we overcame and made it work!
    Of course we still had lots to do back at home, including harvesting the honey from our bees and prepping the hives for their first winter OUTSIDE! Come along with us as we continue to wrap up the fall chores and get back to knocking another fun project off the to-do list!

    Loved this video! On My dad’s lil 100 acre farm in Upstate NY we had honey bees & a bee keeper that just gave us combs & about 100 jar’s of honey each yr for letting them use our land. Of course we had animals & gardens too but I never knew that was a way to access the honey in a homestead. Thank you for showing us all this wonderful content! The beam looked sensational ( a lot of work I am sure). Loved seeing you and Teddy praying again😊. How much honey do you think you collected Jenna? Pray bees are safe for the winter!🙏🙏🙏Blessing’s

      Wow that is an incredible tradeoff! We absolutely love having the honeybees around! We dont get a ton of honey, but its still worth it! We only got abotu 7 gallons of honey this year. We also hope they do well this way over the winter!
      Yes, the beam wasnt exacly easy, but we do think it turned out great! God Bless! Have a great week!

      @@TheLiFeInPines Well they were allowed 2 acres by the water & had 20 or so hive boxes. I believe they sold a lot of the honey to stores from what my Dad told me later. We were a family of 9 so we used that honey in our hot cereal & to bake with on the farm. Funny how you don’t realize Blessing’s until you are much older and you see the price of a small jar of 🍯! Have a beautiful week ❤️🙏!

      That is so cool! We love using honey in place of refined sugar when we can in recipes! And that is so true. It's eye opening to look back and see all the ways we've been blessed or when prayers were answered and we didn't even realize!

    Fantastic job on the beam, again with removing nails and working on two different structures pieced together but you turned the place into a beautiful home again. The honey turned out awesome and now Ted’s back will be saved from all that lifting of the hives to prepare them for winter. Hope the hives survive the winter in the new location it looks like they will be warm with what you have insulated them with. Never fails Ted always hits his head on that fixture the table will stop that once it’s in place. Enjoy your beautiful fall weather and prepare for winter coming to your location soon. Great Saturday video to enjoy with my coffee.

    What a beautiful video!! Wonderful effort and accomplishment with the faux beam. So glad that you did burnish the edges with the screwdriver, you truly cannot tell that it is not a real beam🤩🤩
    The honey is pure liquid GOLD😘😘Of course, it would not be a complete honey harvest without listening to "The Gear Daddies" - "African Killer Bees".
    We are below freezing today in Tropical Southern Minnesota and you folks truly warmed my heart with the bonfire. I have so many memories of sitting around a large fire when it was cold. The final item to talk about is --> who is in charge of the "Fire Stick"?🔥🌡🔥🔥

    One of your pine cones dropping in to see your creativity as you take on another challenge. Great approach and to the beam and it turned out excellent. I loved the idea of rolling the edge on the 45s to hide the seam, great idea for working with old distressed wood. Your next biz venture could be T&J Custom Beams 😊 The honey process was interesting to watch and appeared to be very effective, great work on winterizing the hives. I'll pray it all works out for you as planned 🙏 Kudos to you once gain Jenna on the excellent editing, filming, and assembling the various pieces into such an enjoyable vid. Weaving together, project, outside, family time and your humorous clips and mistake always make these so very enjoyable. Love watching The LIfe in Pines ♥ Larry, Central Valley, Ca.

      @TheLiFeInPines  11 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks so much! Oh no! So sorry you had that experience when you were younger! Honeybees are natrually not aggressive (though Ted did get stung during this process, and has been stung MANY times) but he usually says it was 'his fault' and accidently squished one or something. Its different when you have a traumatic experience as a kid though!

We only had 2 hives, plus the swarm which we didn’t harvest any honey from. But we hope to be more successful with each year and be able to harvest more and sell it!

      We definitely don’t have a big enough operation do honey on a bigger scale. Beekeeping is a very expensive hobby and takes a lot of time- contrary to what most people think! We typically just break even on honey sales vs yearly expenses. ☺️
