We're back after a much needed few days to regroup, recoup and finish this KITCHEN! From the leaky chimney, moldy sheetrock and plaster, to the back wall practically falling off the house. From uneven floors covered in asbestos tiles, to the ceiling literally raining down vermiculite....and lets not forget those RUSTY metal cabinets from the 1950's! This kitchen has over 100 years of neglect, covering up and hiding big problems, and terrible workmanship.
Not a surface has gone untouched in this kitchen and it is our biggest room transformation yet! This room alone has been the most challenging of the entire house. It has tested us, pushed us to our limits, and seen more blood, sweat and tears than any other room we've tackled. But with hard work, perseverance, and a stubborn finlander not willing to give up, we have overcome all the challenges, problems and setbacks.
We are so excited to have yet another completed room in this project house and we cant wait for you to see it! We'd love to know what you think of how it turned out, and what you think we're moving onto next!

Also on that inner corner where your short on back splash, fill with silicone so no moisture and bugs can get in and put a white inner corner trim above it on the wall. Good as gone!! We have 4 girls and two play softball, football, soccer and basketball so we completely understand the chaos in a 100 different directions! LOOKS GREAT guys!

Lol No it was a great and hilarious idea and we just had to put it in there! It was either the E-LICK-Trolux or the LG- Licks Good... 🤣 but as you know we went with the former. Trick I learned on kitchen installation and cabinets that gap in the corner shove something in the hole like paper towels 🧻 to fill it up then leave a quarter inch lower then use clear silicone seems crazy but it takes on the colors around it because it’s clear. It works I’ve done it so many times. Installed tons of kitchen and there is always gaps because cabinet are straight and walls not so much. 20 years of construction you learn a thing or two. Like measure one, cut twice because we do it right 😂. Caulk and paint makes it what it ain’t. Anyway beautiful job I love how you always bring the Lord into your videos.
Ok that is so interesting and makes so much sense about the paper towel and silicone! That is exactly what we're dealing with... NOTHING level or straight. However, I do think this was a little bigger mistake. It bugs me that we cant figure out if it was us or Menards (we ordered online and had to adjust our measurements with a clerk in the store) but oh well! It'll get fixed and no-one will be the wiser! Caulk and pain makes it what it aint! HA! Love that one! So true! Yes, our relationship with the Lord is the most important thing to us so it wouldn't feel right to leave it out of the videos. Good question! I don't know the science behind it but a very knowledgable employee at Sherwin Williams told me to do that. It has something to do with the air when you put the lid on... I will ask him why next time I'm in there!
Omgosh! You all just make me laugh. I was all up in my feelings this weekend with the anniversary of my grandmother's passing and my dad's birthday is coming up and he passed away a year and a half ago, I decided today I would watch your video and so glad I did..smiles on my face from start to finish!

You all did a Phenomenal job on the vintage kitchen. There is nothing I love more then saving history. I used to restore historic homes it’s a pain to keep the old and a lot more work. I’m glad you pulled through and kept the cabinets!!!!

I love how the kitchen turned out. For that corner with the short back splash, could you cut a piece of wood to slide into the space the paint the top white? It may not be as noticeable as the hole.

I'm an old soul car guy, me and mt gf are in the process of buying a 1895 home, since we started talking about it I wanted to do a vintage metal cabinet kitchen, y'all have convinced me to pull the trigger!
That’s amazing! Ted and I wish you both all the best in your home renovation! Definitely yes! Go for the vintage kitchen! We love how they turned out. Episodes 48, 49, 50 and 58 go through the process we did on the cabinets- they could be helpful if you buy older ones that need work. If nothing else, you may at least learn what not to do. Lol.

What is the paint color and brand name? Also is that the same color in your bedroom with side tables you made. So beautiful❤
The kitchen cabinet paint is sherwin Williams “retreat” and the bedroom is a farrow and ball color (still SW paint) but that color is called “pigeon!” Very similar colors! Thank you! We love it, too!
The word you were looking for when prepping the kick panels is "Tooth". Sanding the piece to rough it up so it will take paint is giving it a good "tooth" to adhere to.
