Yet its cool to have as future gpus that might not require a better cpu than a 7800x3d yet require 5.0 to not drop a few % of performance might be released in a few generations
Looking the bandwidth - even the very fast 4090 has some comfortable overhead on PCi 4.0. It pushes past 21GB ps but is still some way short of the 32GBps that 16 lane PCi 4.0 offers. I suspect it might not even be next gen GPU in 2023/24 but the ones after that where there is notable difference in performance between using PCI 4.0 and PCi 5.0. After all, you are using a different/better CPU on these tests and that is far more likely to be the reason for the (tiny) differences in frame rate as opposed to differences in the PCi generation. Just pure maths, the 4090 is quite a long way from being throttled by PCi 4.0. Maybe the 5090 or 6090 might need 5.0, but nothing before that will.
The X670E Aorus master has Digital audio output, PCIe 5.0x16, 4.0x4 and 3.0x2. Also has both HDMI and Diplay port if you have a CPU with onboard graphics.
I was looking at this board, but I just found out Gigabyte cheaped out on the audio chip, it's only a Realtek ALC897. Considering this is still an quite expensive board (350€ in Germany right now) this is kind of a dealbreaker for me. The Gen 4 PCIe slot doesn't bother me much on the other hand, this won't be a bottleneck in the next few years. Now I'm waiting for the B650 Aorus Pro AX and B650E Aorus Master. I fear the Master will also be too expensive, I suspect it will be along the lines of 370€ which is absolutely insane for a B-chipset board, even a really nice one.
Does anybody have any friggin clue how to get that massive norhtbridge/southbridge heat sink off to get to the CMOS battery underneath ????The CMOS battery is in the bottom right corner, but there is a massive passive black heat sink over everything including hte CMOS battery holder.
I have this board X670 AORUS ELITE AX (rev. 1.0) and the bios wont update. it goes into flash reboots and does nothing hangs.I have to hold the power button down to cold reboot.
I was thinking of going for this motherboard because it's priced cheaper as compared to other x670 mobos on Amazon but I am building a PC for first time so what's your advice should I go for this or instead go for MSI x670 e gaming plus wifi ? Are you still using x670 arous elite ax ???
You were right about this, Avrona. The main reason I didn't buy this board is its lack of PCIe 5.0 support. With strong reports on the new NVIDIA GPUs, it just makes sense-especially with the upcoming 50 series cards. Plus, considering AMD boards can support a range of future CPUs, I want a board that’s future-proof for gaming. Most of us only buy once, so it’s crucial to have everything we need. Unfortunately, this board falls short on the GPU slot. You pointed it out, and I appreciate that.
try posting in Reddit here no one seems to care or replying you, everyone is just not content with DDR5 or PCIE 5.0 hence i got no idea, whats an AIO , cable you're referring ? otherwise i'd happy to help you..... AIO - are you referring to the AIO CPU COoler ? Am4 backplate or Intel ? which one did you get ? what mobo do you have
Pcie 5 gpus don’t exist yet. By the time they exist they might have 5000 series gpus maybe. By then I would think they would have x770s or cheaper E x670 boards. I think this board is fine for a few years until gpus start releasing with pcie 5 support. Even then, at 4k idk the performance boost might be insignificant
You can use pcie 4 cards in the pcie 5 slots. Backwards compatible. It just is pcie 5 ready. So you can use your pcie4 card and are ready for later if you want to upgrade. With the ddr memory's it's different though, DDR4 is not compatible with DDR5 slots.
Dang, I was thinking of getting this with an AMD Ryzen 7 7700X for 603 USD. Not sure yet. I could also get an X570S with an AMD Ryzen 7 5800X for over 520 USD. What would you recommend? My current CPU is far inferior to either of the other options, as is my motherboard, which is a Gigabyte 970A-DS3P. I am only going to have one graphics card, only 2 sticks of RAM, just my HDD and a new SDD. I often edit/make videos and photos on Vegas and Photoshop, and I also play games every now and then, only on 1080P for now, until I decide to get a new monitor as well.
Not really, pcie gen 5 cards don't even exist atm, it won't matter until we have something like 60xx series cards. It's a great board for the ryzen 7000 series. I am currently making a new build with this board and ryzen 7950x. My last build included a 1060 and i7 which was good enough for the last few years. So, a build build with this board and ryzen 7000 series processor would last anyone like me years.
Epic review, you are truly a breath of fresh air when it comes to hardware review. What motherboard does have 5th GEN PCI 16x slot That i can buy for my 7800X3D cpu? (Sub to your channel)
For the long term, the lack of a gen5 16x slot is unforgivable. This mobo still costs 229 USD and will be theoretically useless in a couple of generations of GPUs. If this had that gen5 x16 slot, there would almost be no reason to go up to an Aorus Master or Xtreme, which is exactly why it doesn't have one.
So far I am absolutely HAT1NG this motherboard. I've boughttwo fo them so far, and both times, they halt on the RAM LED, even though my 4 sticks of 32gb are in the supported memory list. I tried Q-flashing the BIOS on both of them but that will not even start when I press the Q-flash button with a USB stick in the port with GIGABYTE.BIN file on it. This motherboard is CRRP. I've cleared the CMOS with the button, but can't get under the heatsink to replace the CMOS on either one of them. The Gigabyte ticket support system is absolutely useless.
Had the same issue and was about to throw my ryzen 7900x, rx 7900 xtx, 4 sticks of corsair vengeance RAM, AIO cooler, Corsair 5000d case, and of COURSE, the damn motherboard RIGHT out my window. I was LOSING MY MIND!!!! Only thing that fixed it was booting starting with just one stick of RAM in, after successful boot, I'd turn it off, add the next, and repeat until all 4 RAM sticks were installed. The training times for DDR5 RAM on the new gen platforms can take a LONG time when first setting them up. I refused to believe it was this simple, but alas, here we are, typing on that very build right now haha

Yes, gigabyte have PSU, but there are not manufactured by gigabyte. MEIR is the PSU manufactured. But motherboard are gigabyte specialty, there are the manufactured. I also do not trust gigabyte power supply, but I will 100% trust their motherboard lineup.
This is the worst motherboard that i ve owned . Whatever I do , the internet connection always disconect randomly (wi-fi or wired). Bios ans drivers are all up to date, change the wi fi card , change the the ethernet cable,,,problem always there. This motherboard will soon be in the trash can,,,This is the last Gigabyte product I ll ever buy,,, So pissed...
Dude, PCI 5 for graphics cards is useless. As long as SSD has it's PCI 5 slot(s), who cares.
I’m with you.
Yet its cool to have as future gpus that might not require a better cpu than a 7800x3d yet require 5.0 to not drop a few % of performance might be released in a few generations
well this aged like milk if the reports are accurate.

so are u saying my new build around this MoBo and Ryzen 7900x was a bad move? still waititng for some other parts. so its not to late to switch. . lol

I love me a good Displayport. "KACHUNK". HDMI is a bit 'is it in yet?' 😬😬

This guy looks like he's from House of the Dragon. He just needs white hair. Good lord.
Saved me from this one too.
ALC897 is a deal breaker, the only fault on this board what a pity.
