Glad to see this motherboard in your recommended section. I was a bit worried about audio but I will see later how it sounds. You can edit 4k on a 6700xt, it'll just take a long time compared with its' nVidia counterparts. AMD GPUs are a solid choice for gaming, but for productivity and multitasking, nVidia still has a significant advantage, apples to apples. Given nVidia's recent behavior, I don't blame anyone wanting to avoid them, but time is money after all.

    Yo watched this like 5 times and am a bit torn
    What's ur opinion on Asus Pro Art X670e vs the Asus Strix Gaming x670e-e? I'm building a new workhorse pc that is literally all purpose from 4k editing to high end VR gameplay and recording, streaming etc. I'm really torn between the 2. I don't need the 10gb lan but the usb 4 seems nice to have, the 16+2 power phase concerns me but I only plan on using the automatic overclocking features of the 7950x would this be enough? Full build should be 4090, 1300w psu, 32gb 6000 ddr5 and a 7950x. Only reason I passed on the asrock x670e tachi was the lack of the lower pcie lane but if you feel that would be a better option i'm still considering it! Any guidance would be appreciated!

      It's ABSOLUTELY REDICULOUS especially with these x670e motherboards where the price is around $500 just for the motherboard and then $300 for the cheapest cpu. You can almost build a pretty decent PC ( as long as you're willing to buy a used gpu) for the same cost as the mobo and cpu. IT'S FU@KING RIDICULOUS

    Picked up a 7700x with the free 32 gig ram promo from microcenter but waiting on boards. Getting a cheaper board with no PCIe5 or only 1 just does not seem to make much sense unless you plan on ripping out the board to replace it in the future. Features wise, as a content creator, I REALLY like the idea of the Asus Pro Art.... dual PCI-e 5 if I want to run dual gpus, more importantly for some fast NVMEs to work off of locally and transfers.... (each video I do is easily 100 to 200 gigs). And of course the idea of thunderbolt sounds great for color grading monitors and transferring files to either a DAS... OR 10 gig ethernet if transfering to a NAS... oh.... and it does not look like the neon/RGB fairy spit up all over it. lol. Yes, it's $500... but seems more like a "buy once, cry once" proposition for at least the next 5 years or so. with the cheaper boards... its like might as well have stayed on Ryzen 5000 and X570. =) And I am guessing the new Radeon cards coming out in November will be PCI-e 5.0.

    Honestly gr8 work u r doing. U made the explanation so much easy, I was getting more n more focussed in what u were saying. Keep it up.
    Btw, want to get ur opinion on a PC build that I wana do. I was originally planning to do a DDR4 build with 5900x for main use of running VMs, which would make it more affordable. But since Ryzen 7000 launched, which shows a lot of performace uplift, like crossing 5+ GHz, I literally got excited. But then I learned the bitter truth, that is, Expensive CPU + Expensive MOBO + Expensive RAM + Expensive SSD PCIe5. And since AMD mentioned only for it to be there till like late 2025, should I go with Ryzen 7000 or going with 5900x/64GB RAM DDR4/1TB SSD Gen 3, will have me covered for like next 10 years for mostly running VMs?

    • @PCBuilderChannel
      @PCBuilderChannel  2 года назад +1

      That's a great question. I think that 5900X build will be an absolutely beast. But you might want to wait a bit and see how the Ryzen 7000 performance numbers change when the next gen gpus become available next month. For more on that see the 7900X build we did on the channel. The launch of the new Intel CPUs and Black Friday will also likely affect Ryzen 5000 and Ryzen 7000 pricing so it might not hurt to give it a few weeks and see what happens.

    I'd like to post some clarification surrounding USB4, USB-C and Thunderbolt, which is important for those creators depending on Thunderbolt devices.
    USB-C by itself is just a connector; it doesn't specify anything about what it should be capable of (well mostly). The comparison is actually between USB4 and USB3 (and all of its substandards, like 3.1, 3.2 gen1, 3.2 gen2, 3.2 gen2x2, 10gbps, 20gbps, 40gbps, DP, PD, etc.). One thing to mention is that the extra connectivity, like higher power delivery and displayport, are constrained to be possible only through USB-C.
    The dangerous thing is that USB4 is not Thunderbolt 4, despite them using the same connector type. While a Thunderbolt 4 port is backwards compatible as a USB4 port, it is not the same the other way around. Thunderbolt 4 by itself uses an entirely different protocol, but when you plug in an USB device, it basically functions as a USB4 port but with all substandards/connectivity included. A Thunderbolt port will need to have that lightning bolt symbol next to the port to indicate it being a Thunderbolt-capable port.
    At the moment of writing, only the ASRock X670E Taichi offers USB4+TB4 connectivity, and the Gigabyte Aero D that is not released yet (which will have USB4+TB3). The other X670(E) boards that have USB4 (which right now are from ASUS) do NOT support the Thunderbolt protocol. Most remaining ASUS, Gigabyte and ASRock boards have a thunderbolt pin-header, for which you must buy a brand specific add-in card (AiC) that will slot into a PCIe slot (which will probably need x8 PCIe4.0 lanes?) used to add USB4+TB4 connectivity. None of these AiCs have been released yet. However, that ASUS ProArt Creator motherboard recommended for creators in the video does not have a TB4 header, and will therefore never support Thunderbolt.
    So if you need Thunderbolt support (to connect devices using a Thunderbolt controller), get the ASRock X670E Taichi, wait for the Gigabyte Aero D, or get a motherboard that will have a USB4+TB4 AiC.

When I overclocked my not great bin of a 5800x to 4.7 ghz all core, liquid metal was needed to pull as much heat from the CPU as possible. Great video, thank you, but I'd like to hear/learn more about "audio codecs" on motherboard... How to know which ones are high quality and which ones are not, and what exactly is the purpose of "audio codec", what's that thing exactly, how can you use it, is it for headphones, speakers or what, etc... :)

    • @PCBuilderChannel
      @PCBuilderChannel  2 года назад +1

      On x670 it is pretty binary because there are no boards with "middle step" codecs like the ALC1100, ALC1200, etc. They are either entry level ones ALC897, or they immediately jump up to the best available (ALC1220 & ALC4080). I do expect we'll see some more of the middle step ones in B650 as board makers look to trim costs down a bit more. When we do the best motherboard for Ryzen 7000, we will do an audio section and go into codecs a little more in detail - just waiting for B650 to launch.

      @todotecnoarg Personally I have not had any issues whatsoever. I'm not sure what reviews have been left by other people, but I can confirm that it is a beast of a motherboard. I haven't touched much except fan speeds and EXPO profiles being that it supports DDR5 Ram. If I were to upgrade any component such as Mthrbrd, CPU, or GPU it would be the Mthrbrd last. There are Gen 5 PCIE slots included that future proof the need for a Mthrbrd when GPU (or other hardware) is eventually made for PCIE 5. Almost forgot, but the built in graphics ALMOST gives no need to a GPU it seems, and the audio/wifi/bluetooth drivers explain themselves in their quality. Am running a RX 7800 XT and R9 7900 X. Solidworks (CAD program) and any AAA game at highest settings are absolutely no problem.

      I have yet to really dig into the RTX 4090 GPU models coming. Typically there will be AIB models that push power and overclocking and that can be worth it on the highest end GPUs but usually it takes testing to determine that and we won't have that until the October 12th launch.

    The Ryzen 9 7950X3D cache is rumoured to not be release until CES 2023 (Jan 5th-8th 2023). Having seen the HUGE boost in performance that the 3D cache gave to the 5800X3D, to the point where that last generation chip holds its own against the just released 7950X and the not yet released intel 13th gen flag ship, there is no way I would get a CPU before the 3D cache version, so I am praying the Ryzen 9 7950X3D is released sooner, just after intel 13th gen, so they crush it, and I don't have to wait even more months before building a brand new from scratch rig. Fingers crossed AMD have the sense to release the Ryzen 9 7950X3D straight after intel 13th gen so that AMD can corner the market before the Christmas purchasing rush!
