Thanks for the review Brian! A couple of questions about the X870 elite: 1) I just bought wi fi 6 mesh routers a few months ago. Does the whole 160 Hz wifi 7 thing really matter? I hace a cheap 100 mbit connection which serves me well enough (I barely download anything). 2) does the MB have analogue 5 o 7.1 out? If not that would be the perfect excuse to get a Soundblaster AE9… yes I like sound cards hahaha 😅
Wifi 6 already has fast enough speeds for 100mbit, on a $6 wifi dongle I was able to get 240mbps.... so its basically about having the whole system for wifi 7 (to extract any benefit from it), my guess is the chips are cheap as so they like pushing it in the marketing. 2. both have 7.1 support via optical out.
To what i read on their motherboard manuals, they have 7.1 out, just not from the back io, the frontal connectors (mic/headphone) will work as your side/back speakers, i think you need to to set it up inside the bios. Personally i would love to see a PCIe card that has the front panel mic/heaphone connector so i connect all to the back, but i guess until there are some enthusiast that want to adapt to this new board restrictions, will have to get used to using the case front 3.5 connectors.
Looks like Micro Center is offering the X870E Aorus Elite in a bundle w/ the 7950x3d.... Was possibly looking at this combo, but looks like the PCIex16 gen 5 slot shares bandwith w/ two of the M.2 slots, which I'm not too crazy about.

But in the Bios I can see my M.2 and even the M.2A test runs fine and in USB I can find the Win10 key but not in bootable drives. Horrible first experience with Gigabyte.
I am reluctant to buy Aorus in the future due to many many issues that are solved by getting a much cheaper ASRock motherboard. Laggy bios, not wanting to update bios, laggy bios, memory training issues, reboots etc etc. this happened on AMD x670e and 2x z790 intel boards which have the same sort issues. Also the LAN nic was broken on 2 boards. Out of coulance I get my money back from gigabyte due to the bad experiences with them which is very nice tbh but the frustration i had with this brand is crazy.
MSI x870/x870e boards seem like the best this time around. Asrock Nova is best value x870e. I was disappointed by Asrock low/mid offerings - Tomahawk is just that good.
You looking value and performance with flagship features get the Asrock Gaming Nova Wifi X870E just 325.00 on Neweeg USA after mail rebate but frequently out of stock ,people are buying this board like crazy .I was able to get on my Gskill DDR5 memory 16x2GB 6000mhz a stable overclock of 7400 mhz . You should review this board in your channel
so many people are requesting it, I will ask asrock to send one over, but from what I gather it is just like the Taichi? In that case going to be a very solid board for high end.
My Hyundai (brand new) got a transmission replacement before 60k miles, and every single speaker replaced after they were blown (they told me at the dealership that I had to wait till they were blown before they would replace them, so I had to make alot of trips). the alarm would go off when it was cold because the button wouldnt be depressed enough under the hood lock and the doors would not accept the key when frozen (the keyhole wasn't blocked by ice, but after inserted it just wouldn't turn). never again, Honda and Toyota for me going forward lol

Has AMD made any solid commitment as to how long they will be using this sockets layout? That would be a huge deciding factor for me if paying such a premium. Really in depth review, Thanks Bryan.
amd made plans for 3 generation of cpus for this csocket, this one is the third basically, no one is talking about a socket replacement, so i bet it will do at least another two, if not more, the socket has not reached ram or cpu limits yet, so i think they will do the same that they are doing with am4
@@airknight3318 I found them in the scrapyard. Actually I have maybe about six AM4 boards between B350 and X470 from there. Each $10 Australian. I also picked up an A320 board. I tested them. They work.
To people hating on specific brand -- if you ever get to know the market as a whole, you could see it's literally everyone. There's just no "100% reliable top rep" brands anymore. Any reviews can be made up, both negative and positive. It's a shame but all you can really do is pay extra but even that isn't a guarantee.
The previous B650 (pre revisions) and X670 Aorus Elite boards were 8 layers and had nearly everything you need. The new X870 Aorus Elite (and all non-Master/ Xtreme Aorus boards) are all 6-layers now. So you're paying even more for a heap of features that's supposed to be standard across the new platform of motherboards for AMD, but it's still a compromise. If you ask me there's no reason to get these boards for the average consumer, no one needs to pay an extra $90 for a post code and USB 4 ports, and if they do they likely will seek higher end boards like the X870e Nova. Xtremely... disappointing what Gigabyte did with this new gen of AM5 boards especially compared to the competition. Unless you specifically want Gigabyte's aesthetics, the sensible buy for most people is to just look at older gen boards or find an X870e Nova.
Asrock give you the best value for the money and better VRM's, 8-layer PCB and cheaper. The Asrock Nova for $359 puts the Master to shame. The B650 Elite AX was better then the X870 and was under $200. Over priced 6-Layer PCB and 60 AMP VRM, Gigabyte what good is having 4 M.2 slots if you can only used 2 slots as the 2nd and 3rd M.2"s share the band width with the PCIe 16 slot. They finally started to use at least 1220 audio instead of the 15 year old audio. $500 for their best that again you can use 2 out of 4 M.2 slots as they share the bandwidth with Pcie 16 I think the Master is worth $350 tops..
no need to change bios behavior since you get in there once or twice as a normal user and never touch again. or honestly. you never visit it anyway - so no fix since nothing is broken.
Except when you do need to get into the Bios repeatedly. If other vendor bioses are snappy and work fine, why make excuses when you're spending big bucks? Like, why buy an enthusiast product if you're just doing plug and play?
Just bought an Aorus board and the bios is dreadful, its lagging and the mouse pointer does not keep up to speed, it jumps around as you move it. Maybe it’s me but the bios lacks detail in my opinion. There is no facility to stop power to the usb ports when the pc is off? How come Gigabyte? Plenty of overclocking options but only minimal other adjustments can be made. I have a 2014 ASUS board that beats the Gigabyte board bios hand down, with virtually everything you can think of being adjustable in bios. The ASUS board just seems better all round. I am rather disappointed in the Auros board to be honest.

Using F12 function at bootup it can't find anything. But in the Bios I can see my M.2 and even the M.2A test runs fine and in USB I can find the Win10 key but not in bootable drives.
Horrible first experience with Gigabyte.
Isn't it easier/cheaper to get a PCIe USB 4 adapter?
Does such a thing exist?
I am reluctant to buy Aorus in the future due to many many issues that are solved by getting a much cheaper ASRock motherboard. Laggy bios, not wanting to update bios, laggy bios, memory training issues, reboots etc etc. this happened on AMD x670e and 2x z790 intel boards which have the same sort issues. Also the LAN nic was broken on 2 boards. Out of coulance I get my money back from gigabyte due to the bad experiences with them which is very nice tbh but the frustration i had with this brand is crazy.
HI Have Gigabyte B650i and 7800x3d , Can i buy a 9800x3d, and upgrade, My GPU is a MSi 4070 Gaming X Trio ?
I got a weird Aurus board x870E elite, I haven't seen any reviews for it. $319
MSI x870/x870e boards seem like the best this time around. Asrock Nova is best value x870e. I was disappointed by Asrock low/mid offerings - Tomahawk is just that good.
got the x870 elite on black friday for 15% off, not too shabby
If you could find the best value boards that have eCLK to overclock 3d chips, that would be great.
and its something wrong with vdd and vvdq voltage if you put 1.45v it show c5 code
@@techyescity the thing I like this board you can populate all the Nve drives you want and the Graphic will remain at X16 speed lane 💪
Hello! Would this board work with 32gb of 6000 at cl28?
Yes
if you run both Gen5 M.2s your PCIE Slot will default to 8x.
I would have to say there is something wrong with the speeds on these boards for that t705 as i am getting 16009, 14900 respectively.
Please answer why my 7800x3d ambient 26c still idle at 50c
This is horrible 😭😭 im using aio LF III 360
these new cpus do work abit hotter
check if you screwed properly the block over the cpu, just in case is not maing proper contact, 26 c is a hot environment, to me that sounds normal, would you like to see what temperatures? anyone promised you a specific value?
how hot does it get under load doing cinebench or prime95
@@arch1107 r23 = 4.84ghz @17k score
@@arch1107 also insta max at 89c
Normal behavior for 7800x3d I idle at 46 on a 420 water loop but only maxes to 48 very normal for these.
It looks z890 UD more made sense
Last Gigabyte elite with good value is z390 elite ,after that they started to cut cost on it
Intel board usually only support 2 generation ,don't spend too much on it
Has AMD made any solid commitment as to how long they will be using this sockets layout? That would be a huge deciding factor for me if paying such a premium. Really in depth review, Thanks Bryan.
amd made plans for 3 generation of cpus for this csocket, this one is the third basically, no one is talking about a socket replacement, so i bet it will do at least another two, if not more, the socket has not reached ram or cpu limits yet, so i think they will do the same that they are doing with am4
@@arch1107 It would be great to see AM5 even come close to having the lifespan such as to match AM4. Thanks for your input.
I can guarantee one thing………..it will be supported at least twice as long as Intel platform support. 😊
Subbed for trashing the fed XD
z890 motherboard pricing is even more insane than x870/e boards
Finally the freaking alc1220, FOR ONCE
Im kind of confused with the marketing of the Elite, i just bought the x870e AORUS Elite, but i see theres also a x870 version
My $10 X470 strix board looks better every day.
You mean $100 right ?
@@airknight3318 $10 Australian
@@airknight3318 No. I mean $10. $10 Australian. $250 TWD.
@@MarcoGPUtuber wha how
@@airknight3318 I found them in the scrapyard. Actually I have maybe about six AM4 boards between B350 and X470 from there. Each $10 Australian. I also picked up an A320 board.
I tested them. They work.
There is also the Gigabyte X870E Aorus Elite, which is the cheapest X870E motherboard at just $320
To people hating on specific brand --
if you ever get to know the market as a whole, you could see it's literally everyone.
There's just no "100% reliable top rep" brands anymore.
Any reviews can be made up, both negative and positive. It's a shame but all you can really do is pay extra but even that isn't a guarantee.
I sure hope Gigabyte doesn’t let him down
The previous B650 (pre revisions) and X670 Aorus Elite boards were 8 layers and had nearly everything you need. Unless you specifically want Gigabyte's aesthetics, the sensible buy for most people is to just look at older gen boards or find an X870e Nova.
you wonder where his new intel review is?
These are enthusiast boards though. I go into mine many times when fine tuning my system.
It's a bad user experience for such an expensive piece of hardware. It doesn't have to be like this.
Except when you do need to get into the Bios repeatedly. If other vendor bioses are snappy and work fine, why make excuses when you're spending big bucks? Like, why buy an enthusiast product if you're just doing plug and play?
Msi carbon x870e is better board with features.
Hope you review that also like this.
I found the x870e cross hero for cheaper than the x670e version, on Amazon
These prices are crazy.
I have msinx870 amd its laggy
Red-ish orange would be better for your eyes, it's a rather "soft" color, better than a simple red.
I am rather disappointed in the Auros board to be honest.
aussie gamers have been getting ripped off for years, your so right,
Why are we still on 100mhz FSB, why can't they increase that? I know you can overclock it but we have been on 100mhz FSB for decades.
Good balanced review; In the UK we are hit by Rip off Britain prices as well on Electronics like Motherboards, Mobiles, cameras, etc. A Village idiot UK Q; any ideas on why these Bios / UEFI programs so laggy ? / delayable ?
The elite is now a 6 layer PCB so that's probably ruined it's memory oc capabilities.
Pay more for a de bug light. The b650e aorus pro x usb4 is on the horizon.
I'll go for Asus Strix for superior audio with similar performance.
x870e aorus elite only has 6 layer pcb and 60A power stages. really underwhelming
Jingyue should pay you for the B650i night devil motherboard . Or at least send you free motherboards for review .
Pretty expensive those latest mobo , specially those from intel ,and they don't have more vrm for that price, its just the name ELITE or AORUS 😅
Heat remains a problem with Gen 5 drives that use the same controller as gen 4 drives. If you ran a longer As SSD test you would see the drive throttle within a minute down to below Gen 4 speed. Sooooooo………why pay for a gen 5 drive.
No 10G and no backplate on the master ruined it at that price.
My asrock b650e riptide was the best buy I ever did 😂
All the features I want for a reasonable price..
bro, there is pciex5 and wifi7, what are you talking about nothing new???
17:03 a lot of what
600€ for the master !
No DisplayPort?? Wtf..
The high end models have it on the USB-C port.
Tried to buy a 9800x3d with Arous Master……….PAPERLAUNCH
Yeah they will change the BIOS font just for you. lol
My god, DDR5 + these chipsets seem to be making motherboard prices insane, and stay insane.
b series boards are a better value for the games i do.
prices are out of control, this way the pc master race is over, so few people can pay those 500 and 600 cheap motherboards because a cheap 250 dollars motherboard is a expensive motherboard
we need 50 and 60 dollar motherboards again
companies are too greedy now, it is unpayable for 99% of gamers
All these mb offer 4 m.2 slots but if you use more than 2 then guess what? we will make other components slower.
Dont worry ppl Here in Europe get ripped Off as well
Im tired of giving my money to the underdog, getting amd gpu, or amd cpu back in the day, they will just comeback with higher prices. Why is the 7900xtx 1k euros msrp? If it was 700 they would have made way much money in quantity, nobody is buying amd gpu and thats a good thing imo,f them(rx 7600 being 270 euros msrp 😂 when the 4060 was 300 and beter, who would buy amd, dont forget the price was 300 first)Now im buying only what i want ,nvidia all the way till they get overshadow by another company(cant wait to get the rtx 5090 being 2k or 3k euro). Intel has only 2 gens cpu on the same platform ,the 2 being a refresh.Who and why would buy a 500 mo for 1 cpu upgrade. Why does the 9000 exist?they shoul have just said its a refresh cause 5% and no efficieny its a refresh nothing more. Man im having a bad day today
The x870 is a b650e, Amd really downgraded the new chipsets. I'll be rocking my Aorus Pro x x670e untill 2028. No need to upgrade if you have a x670e boards are basically the same.
The Gigabyte BIOS is such garbage lol. I see it's still filled with way too many menus that I assume still lead you to duplicate settings. "You can find this setting in this menu, this sub menu, this other menu and over here. Welcome to Gigabyte."
it's gigabyte, what do you expect, they felt it was ok selling their customers exploding power supplies. Their GPUs are ugly, their MBs still don't have working ARGB headers and yes their BIOS is crap. I would never waste my money on a gigabyte product.
