i've been informed by a few commenters that michael passed away suddenly a few days ago. while i don't necessarily agree with the relationship, my heart goes out to michael and angie's loved ones. i hope they find peace and comfort during this very difficult time.
It’s not the most ideal situation especially since they posted inappropriate content in front of their family and had a baby…but i really do feel bad for angie since she really was in love with him and she’s not going to be given that same level of support after her husband’s death…
Not necessarily . My cousins from my Dad’s side and my cousins from my Mom’s side are not cousins to each other. So they could be say, maternal cousins, and the other woman could be from his or her Dad’s side for example. -- Don’t get me wrong, this is awful, I’m just pointing out a family tree fact.
Romeo and Juliet is also a tragedy. I've never understood why people think it's a great love story when it's literally just some kids having crushes and then they take it way too seriously and die over it in the span of like three days.
Yeah like, the people who got a person killed, killed another person, one of them killed themselves, and then the other one killed themselves over people they knew for a week is not the relationship you should be idealizing
Both of the characters are absolutely INSANE. I read it in high school and was horrified by literally every part of the story. Why do people romanticize it??? 🤢💀
I think it’s funny that they say Kathy is their biggest “hater” when I’m sure their parents are a lot more disgusted because they probably refused to come in and be filmed.
@@calcifiedweatherfrog4945 This is a bad argument. Illegality and Immorality are not equivalent concepts and should _never_ be misinterpreted as such (otherwise you end up thinking that all people who have broken a law are bad people, which is... clearly not the case). Don't get me wrong though: I'm not saying it IS ok (it's definitely not), I'm just saying that that's not the reason _why_ it's not ok. Utah is the home of the Mormons and thus has some pretty insane religious laws... I wouldn't trust them to be some sort of... bastion of morality, lol. I guess on a certain level, I think A A is ALMOST right, in a gross kind of way. Maybe they _should_ be allowed to get married (the morals of this sort of thing aren't the easiest to decipher) but they still shouldn't be allowed to have kids regardless. And we're also allowed to think they're gross weirdos, because... they are gross weirdos.. Kathy wasn't wrong on that one lol
UPDATE on Michael + Angie: apparently they recently had a baby boy named Eric. They are also now facing jail time due to Utah's Incest law. The law states that they could serve up to 5 years in prison and pay a minimum fine of $5,000.
i saw an "extreme love" episode where it was literally just a man who was feminine and a woman who was masculine😭 neither were trans, there was nothing extraordinary about their relationship. the video was literally just "woman likes wearing striped shirt and pant, and man likes wearing makeup? PREPOSTUROUS"
i saw the exact same episode, and it frustrated me to no end how things like that that are different but also completely harmless and sweet got put on the same level as things like incest and a 20 year old dating a 60 year old, like they just are not comparable at all
I used to watch these extreme love videos but I had to stop. Sometimes they showed normal relationships but it was polyamory or one person was disabled. Then I realized how wrong it was when they in the same series showed couples with huge age differences who met when one of them was a child. Those relationships shouldn't be compared to healthy relationships who aren't morally questionable/illegal.
Hahaha, stop hating them. 94-96%, the children are normal. It should not be considered 'incest'! So why did the law didn't forbid women over 40 from having children since they have the same risk.
They shouldn’t be equated, but I think that we probably all should stop and compare a lot of these things to each other sometimes. Marrying someone you’ve known and helped raise since they were born is legal, as long as you’re not related by blood. Polygamy is not.
@@AnnamarieForcino It's true she just casually mentioned it and the whole class just kind of looked at her. She saw nothing wrong with it and just moved on.
Tara Lashgari honey no, it’s not a thing that should be accepted anywhere, regardless of culture, the medical damages to the children, as well as the mental, years and generations of incest is what leads to insanity, short lives, and birth defects
i 100% agree that incest is gross and not something acceptable, but i dont like the way the psychiatrist only told them that what they were doing wrong is breaking the law like, gay marriage is illegal in so many countries but that doesnt mean its wrong. i think the psychiatrist should've told them about how damaging incest can be not only for their future children but also for them.
I don’t like that either, illegal doesn’t necessarily mean wrong. Incest is an issue because of the damage it does, birth defects and stuff. Also the rifts it can cause in families and other issues.
I literally dry heaved/ screamed when the whole “ we put a picture of us violently making out on the family Facebook page” thing came up. CAN YOU EVEN IMAGINE?! I thought I had it bad having to unfriend people during pride month every year cause another homophobe jumps out of the woodwork.
I’d love to get everyone’s opinions on non biological relatives dating. Ex: adopted relatives, step siblings, etc. It seems to be more acceptable if the two people aren’t biologically connected. But to me, it’s still disturbing that two people could be raised as siblings or cousins their whole lives and end up romantically involved.
It's a bit weird in my opinion as far as nonbiological relatives go. However they can be raised as siblings by their parents but not feel like siblings themselves. I do think it's odd but at the same time they aren't actually related.
I honestly only thought that was a thing that happened between like teenagers who's parents just got married so they're meeting at a weird age and they haven't grown up together and they barely know each other. It's disturbing to think that I'm wrong on that because I literally can't even fathom the whole situation.
"it was like romeo and juliet but instead of these warring families it's the same family" you said those words, out loud, with your own mouth. and you still think you're the victim here
Extreme love “This couple does bdsm” Yeah so extreme mhm (damn vanilla) Extreme love “These people are cousins and dating” Do not equate kink stuff to literal incest please.

I live in a country where incest is legal. I have relatives that have incest based marriages. All I have to say is don't do it. I come from a tribal background where they used to do it as part of a tradition (thank fuck they stoped it a few generations back in my personal lineage, although some of my relatives still practice it) but a lot of things are common in my family like open bites and high tendencies of diabetes and cholesterol because of it. Now, you might think that's not too bad but I have horrible joint problems in my twenties and most of the family easily gets extreme cases of keloid development. I also have a cousin on the other side of the family with a mental handicap because of his parents incestuous marriage and a shitload of head injuries sustained by the abuse that came with it. The fact that the south and religion encourage this shit isn't anything far from tragic. if you feel attracted to your relative, have some self control please; this isn't only your life since your whole family and your potential future children are involved. Side note: my family is quite religious and conservative. I'm not saying everyone in my country, or even the south, is okay with this. There are sound minded individuals that acknowledge that it's fucked. It's just that it's still legal and the conservative population (which is huge) likes it that way.

Outside of the potential biological complications, the social effects the kid is going to have to deal with growing up having it been widely publicized that his parents are first cousins and sensationalized that he’s a “child of incest” are going to be crazy. The family dynamics are going to be weird-even within the same household (with Angie’s other kids), at points. I wish them all the very best & sincerely hope there AREN’T any of those problems, of course, but it is hard not to think about all the different issues that can arise.
DioDraws Some scholars believe that R&J was actually a satire on that type of relationship, in fact. Which makes me laugh every time someone romanticizes the play.
Its not even that scholars think its satire Its called “the tragedy of Romeo and Juliette” its not a happy story Also also Romeo was not given an age - we assume teen as well because of original casting choices but thats kind of it It was not supposed to be a love story to be celebrated as a love story
We all have attractive cousins it doesn’t mean anything has to happen. Like you can see people and recognize their beauty without wanting to do anything with then
I work with my first cousin and all the girls we work with are obsessed with him. I can recognize that he's a good looking dude but EWWWWWWW why would you ever wanna fuck your cousin?!?!
These "Let's Not Kiss Our Family" videos got me inspired to deep dive a bit into the science and philosophy of why we consider incest wrong and if it is actually wrong. Very fascinating stuff if anyone else is interested, there's a lot of articles on it.
I don’t think breaking the law is the issue. The issue is that it’s basically impossible to have a healthy romantic relationship with a family member, and that the fact that there are children in the picture is teaching them that it’s okay and normal. And when they’re actively seeking attention for their relationship, it’s putting their entire family in danger of harassment. Idk how to really explain it but yeah, not a great situation

Just came back to watch this after hearing of Michael’s sad passing. As weird as I think it is to date your family my heart goes out to Angie and his family. It is very sad
Well thank fucking goodness her kids aren’t his! I knew two people who were first cousins and had three kids. They were forced to get married, so not exactly their fault, and the wife actually said it was the worst mistake she’d ever mad but couldn’t get out of the marriage. Sorry, hard to explain. It was a cult thing so.... ANYWAY, back to what I was saying, two of their kids were extremely deformed and the only part of them that grew was their heads. They were missing their arms and didn’t get any older mentally either. They both passed away, one at age seven and the other at age 5 I think. One of their children survived and his kids have several mental issues as well. That’s such a fucked up thing to do to a child.
sldfkjd I just got to the part where they were expecting a child. She said they were due in May so it was probably born... God that poor kid I'm so sorry for them
@KameradSohn Omg that’s so heartbreaking!!! I’m sure that had to be absolutely terrible for her. I hadn’t really thought about how the poor kid must have felt. That’s so sad.
@@Senscion Not necessarily. It's enough for both of them to carry a one mutated recessive gene (which is very likely when you're first cousins) and boom, 25% of your kids are sick.
I think that the psychiatrist could’ve gone for a better take on it than just “oh well you’re setting an example of breaking the law” because they went to a state where it was legal, it would’ve been better to expose the seemingly fetishised relationship they have with each other and the example it might set for their kids as to what relationship they could have. I.E. with each other 🤮
In some families and cultures, it’s normal to kiss close family on the lips. I did when I was younger. However, there’s a difference between being a kid giving your parent or Nan a little peck on the lips to show them that you care about them, than shoving your tongue down their throats.
The fact that this was aired in the same key with polyamory and kinks is sickening, wtf is that channel I'm so sorry for all the polys and people with particular non-damaging preferences out there, I hope you never have to see this atrocity of a show again.
Angie actually ended up having a late term miscarriage and both Angie and Michael could now face up to five years in prison plus a $10,000 fine for even getting pregnant.
Ok so one time when I was like 12 I was at my stepmom's family reunion and I had hanging out with my male cousin who I don't really know that well so we were getting to know each other and hanging out, and playing around and he was like 15 and I was 12 and I was poking him as annoying 12 year olds do and his MOM was like oooo they're flirting and she said "You're not technically cousins so it's ok" MAAM NO I WAS NOT FLIRTING WITH HIM HE IS MY COUSIN AND EVEN IF IM NOT BIOLOGICAL RELATED TO HIM THATS STILL DISGUSTING WHAT THE HELL WOMAN
@Mathilda The Apollo child Fr like I was so uncomfortable like I was just trying to get to know my step cousin and she had to make it weird like what the hell dude
When I was a teenager my grandma and great aunts/uncles made almost exactly the same jokes about me and my 3 year younger not-technically cousin when we were sitting somewhat close on a couch. We looked at eachother and then moved to opposite sides of the room. Maybe it's a generational thing, it's so weird.
@StormDreamer Yea I really hate it when family members do that kind of stuff, it's super inappropriate. Even putting the fact that you're related aside parents and older family members shouldn't comment on your love life, especially not in a public setting, I find that so inappropriate, who you like or don't like is your business, if you want to share that then go ahead but they have no business weaseling into your love life.

Neither do incestuous couples, but what they DO choose is who they form relationships with and f*ck. The law is that they can’t f*ck or get married, both of those things are CHOICES.

There is a syndrome that occurs when family members have been apart for a prolonged period of time where when you reunite you're overwhelmed by all of these emotions which can be mistakenly interpreted as lust/romantic love, it usually happens with kids that are abandoned by their parents at a young age and then when they're adults they find their parent and they get romantically involved and its just whacky
The weird thing is that here, in Iran, cousins marrying each other is pretty normal and sometimes considered good. I don't understand it and when i think about it it really feels weird
it's legal here in finland as well (though thankfully not very common) and for me it's always been icky. like there's plenty of people out there. pls don't fuck your family members.
@KameradSohn your only reasons are related to your country's culture and rules. my parents were third cousin and I'm doing just fine, most of my classmate's parents are also related and they're fine" biological and mentally" and y'all just saying this bc your country's culture is based on this rules, even my country's religion, islam"even though I'm not muslim"says it's okay to marry your cousin. only family members that is not okay is"mom, dad, bro, sister, uncle, aunts, grandparents, parent's uncle and aunts"other than that is okay. you just have to get a dna test before marriage. just bc sth is wrong in your culture and country rules does not make it wrong for the whole world lol.
not ur average nerd It’s because 1st biological cousins have EXTREMELY similar DNA. The gene pool needs new additions, it needs fresh genetics in order to repair and replace parts of the body. That’s why we need to be in such relationships with people we don’t share DNA with. It’s not culture, it’s basic science👁👅👁
@@areeba5908 do you even know what science is lol😂😂it's so much more than just basic science and here they teach us in hs. it becomes a problem when first cousins marry eachother for more than 3 generations. and like i said, they always make sure to take that dna test correctly. i know first cousins who married each other and had healthy kids. it really depends on that person's genetic and it's alleles.of course if you already have bad genes that's a moral crime to marry your cousin and makes it worse. I've seen so many dumb comments under this post who'd be like" lol that's impossible to have kids when you're cousins" all I'm saying is it's possible and normal.
not ur average nerd Sir, if i am correct, Im majoring in highschool physiology???? And my subjects include, I don’t know....chemistry and biology???? So it was funny to assume I didn’t know what basic science was lol😂😂😂 And do you know what a carrier is? You don’t know wether you are a carrier so marrying into the family increases your risk of passing disease to the family. Number two, sure it’s three generations, but it doesn’t matter because a) the parents are going to normalise this for their children, b) may be carriers and it’s so easy to just...educate people on the bad things about marrying into the family... so you’re trying to justify incest????? It really shouldn’t be normalised as it’s completely a game of chance, just try and marry like...not ur second cousin?? And dissing hs science...I’m pretty sure it teaches us correctly
honestly, weird thought that i've had after these sorts of stories have popped up over the years both irl and in fiction- i think separating kids that are exploring their sexuality leads to this kind of fixation on that experience, which turns to them believing it's love, and getting involved once they're adults. instead of talking to the kids about why they wanted to kiss (saw it on tv, wanted to know what it's like, know that's how adults show affection) and explaining that it's reserved for romantic relationships when you're older, they just shut down the conversation and forbid interaction, making the kids not realize why it was wrong, and then every time they kiss someone, they think of that cousin/sibling/whatever, and then they grow up associating that relative with romantic/sexual things, meet as adults, and enter these sorts of hypersexual relationships bc the symbol of romance/sex to their child self is now there, returning those feelings... im not a psychologist or anything so i could be completely off base, but it seems plausible to me. really unfortunate for the kids involved (angie's and their shared child), the shame and ridicule they'll face their entire lives (and likely lack of family structure bc it seems michael and angie aren't supported in their relationship) due to something out of their control is tragic
Honestly I think the fact that it's illegal should not be an argument for the "child abuse" allegation. Incest is a no-no for a reason beyond the social, cultural or legal, incest causes genetic disease and deformities. To have your children thinking incest is okay will probably do something fucked up to their sexual development too. Not to mention the bullying and social ostracism they're likely to face, especially because of the visibility of their parents parading themselves on TV.
Omg I’ve literally met these people. I was on vacation in northern Michigan and ran into them in a gift shop. At the time I thought it was so strange that she divulged to me and the shop keeper all about them being cousins. She told us that they didn’t meet til later in life and they ended up finding out that they were cousins when they were both invited to the same reunion, she even said she had a partial hysterectomy after having her kids from a previous marriage so they didn’t worry about getting pregnant. I guess she lied to make it less disgusting but still enjoyed shocking people. So crazy!!!
Genetic Sexual Attraction, or GSA as it's more commonly known, most frequently occurs when a person has been separated from a biological family member - be it mother, father, brother, sister, etc - from a young age, and upon meeting them again, becomes sexually attracted to them
Omg yes, I’ve read about that. From all the stories I read and heard about, most of these people do not even realize that they are related til later on. Their was this couple that realized they were siblings when they had gone in for their ultrasound. They were separated at birth.
@@blue_._.3_ GSA is more referring to people who don't know then have babies, then find out later on they're related. These cousins knew and didn't care and still decided to have a baby after the fact. That's not okay!

I somehow found your channel last night and I can’t stop laughing. You’re hilarious. I feel like we would be friends. I RARELY comment so it’s odd for me to even say that. Gah you’re too hilarious.
I actually come from a culture where marrying your cousin is considered normal, in fact, I didn't even realize that marrying/liking your cousin was weird until I was a teenager...I've got cousins who are 1st, 2nd and 4th cousins to me, so I was used to it as a kid.
So in this case, if they had waited to have sex until after moving into a state which does not include cousins in the definition of familial incest then the act would not have been a crime. But they were and continue to be stupid about it so the state is/was going after them especially because they became as famous as they are (honestly they could have avoided state troubles if they had kept to themselves). I'm glad this is a crime though. Maybe the children will be rehomed with less crazy adults. But in general, you are beholden to the laws of the state in which you had committed a crime. This is called jurisdiction and can get a little messy when determining where to file for different types of litigation as there are a lot of rules and sub-rules. Federal crimes will follow you across state lines and even sometimes country lines if the crimes are egregious enough and America is able to work with the other country amicably.

Well... Although this makes me sick to my stomach, I cannot ignore the fact that incest is problematic only in the case of it being a relationship between a child and an adult and/or when having kids is involved. So theoretically if two adults want to be together... that should be fine. Playing the role of the devil's advocate here but it still is so. :/ In any case, Wiki says some pretty interesting things abut this: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incest#Cousin_relationships Apparently it's much more common than we think.
this is definitely true. it's still weird & gross, but at the end of the day they are two consenting adults. thank you for the article though! i'll check it out
Even though I do think this is weird and disturbing you have a point. Also, all the way into early 1900s its wasn't abnormal for cousins to be involved and get married and even have kids together. In fact one can argue back in the 1400, 1500, 1600, and even into the 1700s in was fairly normal because people especially the rich and royalty didn't want to marry outside there class. Also, it's not as common for children to have birth defects if they were born from 2 cousins. Now once you get pasted the cousin mark though birth defects become extremally common. When it comes to relationships with sisters, aunts, uncles, brothers, etc. there is definitely a higher birth defect rate. but in any case dating, marrying, and sleeping with your first cousin is definitely weird and gross especially according to today society.
Theres a book series by an author - V.C Andrews, the first book being "Flowers in the attic". A lot of people know about flowers in the attic, more so the movie, but the books are so much more wild lmao. I read all the books in the series when I was a teen and it is WILD. basically siblings who end up getting married etc. I couldn't stop reading due to the absurdity and audacity lmao
Oh my god I have those books (like the whole series in one book), I found it in a mini library thing next to a playground when I was like 12 and I was so shocked by it that I stopped reading, glad to see someone else talk about it
See incestuous relationships are a difficult subject for many reasons. If we're going to condemn them we need to set aside our disgust for a moment and actually understand why it's so gross to us in the first place. Firstly, we actually do this thing called "reverse imprinting" with family members. It means that we're naturally turned off by people we see receiving or giving parental or general familial care within our family as children. Weather that's cousins, siblings, parents, aunts, uncles etc. It's why adopted and step siblings are often just as repulsed by the thought of getting with eachother as full blood relatives. So when we see others engaging in that we feel disgusted. Buuuuut even though it weirds me out a lot too, I see it as a reproductive and mental health issue, not a moral one. My main concern overall is the serious negative genetic impact we know inbreeding has on offspring. We've seen it time and time again, we know how destructive it is. I also do worry about the psychological impact not having platonic, familial bonds could have. Our family is supposed to be the one place we don't have to worry about impressing anyone or intimate things like sex. It's meant to be a safe place where trust exists and everyone can let their guard down around people they love. That doesn't exist when sex comes into the picture because sex isn't something you can do that with. It introduces messy feelings and all the bullshit that comes with any sexual relationship, which we don't want when around the people we need to be able to explicitly trust. The power imbalance it could allow is also very concerning. Like, I don't see how a child, even after the age of consent, could give informed consent to have sex with their parent because our parents will always have huge emotional power over us. Even if it's not treated that way by the one in power, I say it still leaves way too much potential for abuse. Like a boss sleeping with an employee, and it's the same with older siblings and the like. Introducing sexual relationships into that dynamic seems like it could be very unhealthy. This is a reason same sex incest could be just as much of a problem even though inbreeding isn't a risk in that case. But see, now we're talking about the actual problems and identifying what we're worried about. Just saying "it's icky" real loud makes it seem like you're only doing it because you don't want to be judged. Like you're more worried about social stigma than the actual issues at hand. Some people treat pedophilia the same way. They'll be all like "Oh shoot 'em all dead!!" But when you ask *why* they hate child sexual abuse and pedophiles they say something like "Because you just don't to that to a kid!" Which frankly, isn't enough. Again, they seem more worried about what people think of them and being labeled as pedophiles, than the actual children being abused. We need to talk about the horrific trauma sexual abuse inflicts on children WAY more than we need to express our outrage at the perpetrators. No one's impressed because you hate pedophiles and pedophilic behaviour. We ALL do. I feel like all of this moral posturing only waters down the seriousness of these topics, and doesn't allow us to discuss real solutions. It's not enough to yell about how wrong something is, you need to step back and evaluate WHY you see it as wrong in the first place. Anything less is actually encouraging these behaviours because now it's not seen as something actually damaging and harmful, now it's forbidden fruit. And everyone knows how we respond to forbidden fruit.
i know this is an ancient comment, but i wanted to thank u for writing this !! i always find it frustrating how people are just like “ew gross!” and don’t have anything to back up why it’s wrong. it’s not immediately clear that you’re not just being bigoted/close-minded when all u have to say is “it’s obviously wrong/i don’t like it/etc.” it’s an important discussion to have, and nobody ever has it !!

_The possible mandatory prohibition of consanguineous marriage apparently approved by the Drafting Committee and accepted by the ASHG Board of Directors contradicts the 1970 conclusion of the US National Conference of Commissioners that state laws banning first-cousin marriage lacked scientific foundation and should be repealed. It also is at odds with the 2002 Recommendations by the US National Society of Genetic Counselors that, other than supplemental neonatal screening by tandem mass spectrometry at one week of age and hearing screening at three months, the progeny of first-or second-cousin couples did not require additional preconception, prenatal or postnatal testing (Bennett, Motulsky et al., 2002)._ - Consanguinity in Context by Alan Bittles, ISBN 9781139015844, DOI: 10.1017/CBO9781139015844
_The situation with respect to consanguineous marriage in the USA remains confused and confusing, with little evidence of consistency or logic in the legislation. Perhaps the most surprising facet is the persistence of prohibitions on first-cousin marriage, which is contrary to a unanimous recommendation by the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws in 1970 that these marriages should be freely permitted in the USA, a recommendation that subsequently was approved by the American Bar Association in 1974 (Glendon, 1989). The Commissioners had additionally recommended that uncle-niece marriages should be permitted in indigenous cultures where they were customary, with Native American, Alaskan and Hawaiian communities specifically identified. But once again, little action appears to have been initiated on these recommendations._ - Consanguinity in Context by Alan Bittles, ISBN 9781139015844, DOI: 10.1017/CBO9781139015844

Cambridge Studies in Biological and Evolutionary Anthropology, Volume 63. By Alan H. Bittles. Cambridge and New York: Cambridge University Press. ISBN: 978-0-521-78186-2. 2012
_The report made a point of saying that the term "incest" should not be applied to cousins, but only to sexual relations between siblings or between parents and children. Babies who result from those unions are thought to be at significantly higher risk of genetic problems, the report said, but there is not enough data to be sure._ - New York Times 2002

@KameradSohn your only reasons are related to your country's culture and rules. my parents were third cousin and I'm doing just fine, most of my classmate's parents are also related and they're fine" biological and mentally" and y'all just saying this bc your country's culture is based on this rules, even my country's religion, islam"even though I'm not muslim"says it's okay to marry your cousin. only family members that is not okay is"mom, dad, bro, sister, uncle, aunts, grandparents, parent's uncle and aunts"other than that is okay. you just have to get a dna test before marriage. just bc sth is wrong in your culture and country rules does not make it wrong for the whole world lol.
not ur average nerd
It’s because 1st biological cousins have EXTREMELY similar DNA.

Sir, if i am correct, Im majoring in highschool physiology???? And my subjects include, I don’t know....chemistry and biology????
So it was funny to assume I didn’t know what basic science was lol😂😂😂
And do you know what a carrier is? You don’t know wether you are a carrier so marrying into the family increases your risk of passing disease to the family. Number two, sure it’s three generations, but it doesn’t matter because a) the parents are going to normalise this for their children, b) may be carriers and it’s so easy to just...educate people on the bad things about marrying into the family... so you’re trying to justify incest?????
It really shouldn’t be normalised as it’s completely a game of chance, just try and marry like...not ur second cousin??
And dissing hs science...I’m pretty sure it teaches us correctly

omg 🥺💓
honestly, weird thought that i've had after these sorts of stories have popped up over the years both irl and in fiction- i think separating kids that are exploring their sexuality leads to this kind of fixation on that experience, which turns to them believing it's love, and getting involved once they're adults. instead of talking to the kids about why they wanted to kiss (saw it on tv, wanted to know what it's like, know that's how adults show affection) and explaining that it's reserved for romantic relationships when you're older, they just shut down the conversation and forbid interaction, making the kids not realize why it was wrong, and then every time they kiss someone, they think of that cousin/sibling/whatever, and then they grow up associating that relative with romantic/sexual things, meet as adults, and enter these sorts of hypersexual relationships bc the symbol of romance/sex to their child self is now there, returning those feelings... im not a psychologist or anything so i could be completely off base, but it seems plausible to me. really unfortunate for the kids involved (angie's and their shared child), the shame and ridicule they'll face their entire lives (and likely lack of family structure bc it seems michael and angie aren't supported in their relationship) due to something out of their control is tragic

THAT DOES NOT EXCUSE THE FACT THAT THEY ARE FAMILY MEMBERS 🤮🤮🤮

I actually come from a culture where marrying your cousin is considered normal, in fact, I didn't even realize that marrying/liking your cousin was weird until I was a teenager...I've got cousins who are 1st, 2nd and 4th cousins to me, so I was used to it as a kid.
Isn’t it also illegal to go across state lines to commit a crime? Or is that only for federal crimes?
If you cross state lines to break a law I think it becomes a federal crime idk
Hahaha, the risk is the same as women 40. The law is illogical.

In any case, Wiki says some pretty interesting things abut this: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incest#Cousin_relationships
Apparently it's much more common than we think.

@@astralcamisado648 they actually have a kid with each other now
Even though I do think this is weird and disturbing you have a point.
