I used to be a kid lemme tell you, at the beach, I could not give a damn about what people wore. I was surrounded by sea, sand, and cool rocks to take home. My priorities were pre-decided.

I talked with lots of nice Christians. Who wouldn't assume of themselves that they are in a position to judge me and dont claim to know what Jesus/God would think of me.
@@eazygrim7101yeah, I see a lot of comments bashing religion entirely, which is odd. I was raised loosely Catholic/Christian but never went to church regularly, and as I grew up I became more in the range of indifferently agnostic, but everyone's faith and spirituality is their own business.
A lot of organized religion has the tools to oppress people, but to assume each and every practitioner of that faith only strives to oppress is incorrect.
A lot of people use religion as a safety net, a cosmic entity to rely on when they feel powerless. This is a severe oversimplification, but I'm trying to get this across to you in a way that you can empathize with on a basic level.
In my mind, everyone's ideas of gods and spirituality are true for them personally. I don't know what to believe for myself, but even if I did, I probably wouldn't share it. Faith is personal and shouldn't be shoved into anyone else, it's a solely personal journey that you can share with others of similar faith for a sense of community. I think a lot of religion is just needing to have purpose in life and community.
I'm queer as fuck so like I would NOT have done well in any religious environment, but I also have never been the type to blindly trust an ancient book. That doesn't mean I don't see the merit in some of the morals and values of religion. If you take things from the bible as metaphorical, more like a Greek myth retold countless times throughout history, then it's a lot more palatable. It's just perspective.

So I'm a Christian girl and I was about 12 when this happened, all of the kids came together for a group lesson where all of the age groups came together to teach about a value. This one dude came up, he is a middle aged white dude. He came up and started talking about how women are sluts for wearing crop tops and bikinis because we are distracting young men. His son was there and he was like 19. He then goes on to tell all of the women in the group that young men are not responsible for their actions. And after taking about three hours talking about how rape is fine. He then got demoted from his calling, and divorced.
i love that these young women laughed at him. they're smart enough to know that his belief system is his problem. good for them for not being shamed into making choices they don't agree with.

I was so nervous and self-conscious until I met these two little girls and all they cared about was bringing me pretty shells from the sand so that I could teach them which ones were alive and which ones we could take. I’m nearly 6ft tall and am 99% legs and women more than men comment on that. It was a problem in school because no matter what i wore it looked slutty (according to older women teachers). However a couple of years ago i was pumping gas in the middle of summer so i was wearing shorts and an older woman who did not speak English well came over and just said “LEGS? HOW? WONDERFUL” and it reversed years of shame and trauma.

I've gone to sauna many times with a big group of friends, all naked, women and men, laughing and drinking beer, no sexual tension AT ALL. Me and my family were at a beach once a couple months ago and we saw this happen to a group of girls who were wearing , not even very revealing clothes I might add , and this guy and his wife came up to them and started yelling at them saying there were being wh*res and were flaunting there bodies , they were clearly uncomfortable so i tried to go over and talk to the guy to see if he was willing to shut up , I was also wearing a bikini that day and was extremely surprised he didn’t comment about my bathing suit , but luckily I was able to get him to go away

As a devout Christian myself, I am very bothered by this man's actions. Its not only extremely creepy that he needed to go talk to young women but that he brought his children with him to do it. He could have simply moved to a different part of the beach. I don't know why he thought there would be NO people in bathing suits at a beach. This man was 100% wrong and makes things harder on the rest of us Christians.
What else do you think he brings those children to watch him do? Them kids have probably seen the beefout of a toilet ring or two.
I'm a Christian too, and you don't see me berating people for their outfit choices. Regardless of religion, people need to respect other people and not force their opinions on others. Christians have such a negative stereotype because of people like this dude, and honestly its because men are so controlling and they have to be "in charge" or whatever. I think if Christians just focused on loving people and just being kind instead of policing other people's actions (unless someone is in need of actual help) the world would be so much better. I think Christians don't realize that we ourselves are not meant to convert people, that's God's thing. We are meant to show love and kindness to people, with no ulterior motive of throwing the gospel in their faces. Sorry this was so long but it astounds me how "holier than thou" Christians can be when we all honestly have our own struggles and circumstances. This man didn't do anything to help Christians and he's letting his own extreme beliefs get in the way of being a decent human being.

Yes, God does the converting, not us, I agree with you there. But we're still called to spread the word.

I meant it more in a way of just talking to people with only the motive of sharing the gospel without respecting the person you're talking to or caring about what they think. Which in the case of this man was way more in the ball park of the judging these girls and not respecting them instead of actually sharing the gospel. I think there are right ways and a wrong ways to share the gospel, and I believe this man chose the wrong way. But yes, you are totally right on what you said, and I'm totally cool with any disagreements or counter-points!
