Christine Massey, played by Loretta Young, must host a private dinner party for her two new bosses, publisher Paul Belzer, played by James Philbrook, and his boss, Bascombe T. Beebe, played by Leif Erickson. The ensuing evening becomes intolerable for Paul and Christine because of Beebe's abrasive attitude.
Leif Erickson was an American stage, film, and television actor who worked in a band as vocalist and trombone player, performed in Max Reinhardt's productions, and then gained a small amount of stage experience in a comedy vaudeville act. Initially billed by Paramount Pictures as Glenn Erickson, he began his screen career as a leading man in Westerns.
Erickson's first films were two 1933 band films with Betty Grable before starting a string of Buster Crabbe Western films based on Zane Grey novels. He would go on to appears in films such as The Snake Pit, Sorry, Wrong Number, Abbott and Costello Meet Captain Kidd, Invaders from Mars, On the Waterfront, A Gathering of Eagles, Roustabout, The Carpetbaggers and Mirage.
Erickson was married to actress Frances Farmer from 1936 until 1942. The same day that his divorce from Farmer was finalized, June 12, 1942, he married actress Margaret Hayes. They divorced a month later. Erickson died of cancer in Pensacola, Florida, on January 29, 1986, aged 74.
Regina Gleason plays Beebe's long-suffering wife, Rain. Gleason was born in June of 1929 in Oregon, known for her appearances in a total of 500 TV shows, including; Perry Mason (1957), Walk the Dark Street (1956) and Rescue 8 (1958).
Trivia fact: Gleason was cited by a San Diego policeman for wearing sunglasses seven-eighths of an inch thick while driving her sports car.

The real star of this show is a man who never appeared: the writer and director, Paul Crabtree. It’s too bad that The New Loretta Young Show didn’t last any longer than one season. Crabtree was an important part of the creative team that made this show work.

Love everthing Loretta does. She is such a class act and all her stories have a moral. We really need more of this in our world

Holy Toledo- that gown Loretta wore in the intro was just silly! They're usually gorgeous. In fact Loretta wore the gown the other guest actress was wearing in this episode in her entrance. I remember the sequin flowered top. It's very pretty.
Leif Erickson is always over the top

He was horrible indeed, but certainly not a chauvinist. His aggression, anger, disrespect,
rudeness, and general contempt was equally served up for and to everyone. He chose no specific gender, race, creed, or cause to insult. He was equally abusive to everyone!
