I gotta give it to capcom on this, snk is good too. But capcom, every pose seems to match the character's personality. Snk just is realistic, but nothing else you can get from it. Like the pic of geese, capcom one makes you feel like he is up to something sinister. But the snk one, seems shy but friendly. Its arguable really, but I like the capcom ones.
Conrado Javier They also had Hiroaki for 2002 and XI. Nona for SvC: Chaos, 2001, and XIII. And Eisuke Ogura for XII and majority of promotional for XIV.
Probably not something everyone thinks, but man, Capcom does really know how to convey character and personality in their art. SNKs drawings may be prettier but they lack personality and dynamism. Also, they all kind of look the same.
Al principio me daba cosa el estilo de shinkiro pero mientras más lo veo mas le encuentro la gracia a que se vean más realistas, tiene pedazo de ilustraciones también
I feel like for this game, Capcom really botched their own characters. Their illustrations of SNK characters are superb though. And SNKs realistic style almost makes the Capcom characters blend right into the King of Fighters. I don't like that they made Cammy flat as a board though. Put some respect on those cakes.
i think there are 3 artists.... the capcom side capcom drawings have one style and snk side capcom drawings have another totally different, and then is the snk side drawings is for both companies the same style. i think they are 3 artists
If I were to insert my subjective opinion, I'd say that that SNK makes better in-game sprites(with a few exceptions, where they add jerky movements just to add them) and Capcom has a better artwork, cuz they add lots of characters' persona into it, which makes it so much more satisfying to the eye.
I like Capcom expressive conceptual design of characters...SNK art is beautiful, it just comes off stagnant or stiff because of it being rendered so tightly. Although some of SNk designs I do like...I just prefer Capcom
Honestly a straight up draw for me. I went back and forth on almost every other picture. (Capcom versions of Mai and Yamazaki have always been hideous to me tho) Huge fan of both companies and have been since the early 90’s. Man this just makes me want a CvS3 even moreso.
People seem to like the more realistic look of SNK but the characters are stiff and much less expressive than the capcom art and don't allow for the type of suspension of disbelief necessary to characters who can throw fireballs and tornadoes from their hands. I think it's ironic that the SNK gameplay is also more stiff than Capcom fighting game gameplay which is much more fluid and dynamic.
jonnie scott Capcom’s artists were 99% of the time WAAAAY better at drawing dynamic gestures and character expression. SHinkiro’s art was cool the first couple times I saw it but the lack of development and change made him stale up until CvS2. I will give Shinkiro his due though, because he has gotten much better over the years mainly due to the Capcom influence.
I cant stand that SNK artist, always with the eye shadow and smirky grin for every single character including the capcom ones, he even made gouki smile...
Kwok Man considering that time period, I wouldn’t be surprised if SNK made him do all his illustrations that way to separate their stuff from the more lively and gestural Capcom artists. That’s why when he got hired on by Capcom his stuff changed and improved almost immediately after CvS1. His CvS2 stuff was much better and it looked like he was able to loosen up and spread his wings out some more.
SNK version looks like they have better hygiene and wear makeup. Whereas Capcoms has a more battle hardened and just recently fought feel to their characters.
Capcom = Detailed and expressive. SNK = Shiny and picturesque. Capcom's art can beat SNK's for some characters, but in Kyo's and Cammy's case, they looked good. :) Older even.
SNK style is freakishly life like. They tend to capture real life faces, expressions, and a very clean look. Most of the SNK art captures a candid look. SNK is my vote! Capcom is nice aswell if youre looking for that power fantasy look. More action.
I like both pretty equally. It’s almost not even fair to compare because generally speaking for these, they’re going for two VERY different styles. And I love both
Wolfie Wolf First part of my original comment I'm trying to get you to elaborate on what you think is "painterly" art is and why Shinkiro's illustrations are painterly. Second part of my original comment I'm disagree with the way you used the word illustration original comment. "SNK's art is painterly. Capcom's art are illustrations." This implies that Capcom's art are illustrations, but SNK's isn't. Given the definition of illustration after google searching it, SNK's art are illustrations too.
Capcom art is more like painted sketches, I really hated that back in CvS2, all Capcom art rusty and stained trying to compensate with dynamism but all looked ugly, since then, I think Capcom was becoming lazy to work.
It seemed like there were two different artists' illustrations being shown on the Capcom side, until I did some googling and found that they're all done by the same person: Kinu Nishimura. It's odd to see such a stark contrast between the two styles there done by one person, since at first glance some of the illustrations remind me of amateur fan art (though up close you can see more of the detail and they just look overall /better/) and the other ones have a really cool, expressive style that I generally prefer over SNK's hyper-realistic one. That being said, I love Shinkiro's artwork as well and love how his hyper-realistic style brings characters to life in a surreal-feeling way. I just prefer how the Nishimura isn't afraid to be more dynamic, expressive and "larger than life" when it comes to stylizing the characters. It makes Shinkiro's art look rather bland and stiff in comparison, even though that awesome level of skill in rendering is always present.
Foram dois desenhistas pro lado da CAPCOM, não? Um pra desenhar os personagens da empresa e o outro, pra foder as da concorrente! Ao passo que o Shinkiro não desrespeitou nenhum personagem.
both are good, just an apples to oranges comparison. but I do prefer shinkiro's males than his female designs. on a related note, who was the artist for SF3?
nimaiiikun The three major artists that worked on SF3 were Kinu Nishimura, Akiman, and Daigo Ikeno. Daigo Ikeno did the illustrations you see in the character select screens of SF3: Third Strike and SF4, and the art you see at the end of arcade playthrough. You can see his artwork in this video for the Capcom characters on the left. Kinu Nishimura did the illustrations you see on the Win/Lose screens of SF3: New Generation/2nd Impact. She also did the ending art you see after beating arcade mode. She even did posters for 2nd Impact. You can see her artwork in this video of SNK characters on the left. In CvS2 she did illustrations representing Capcom, drawing both SNK and Capcom characters for the character select screen. Akiman/Akira Yasuda did the art you see on character select screen of SF3: New Generation/2nd Impact. He also did many posters for New Generation. He's the designer of original SF2 characters and original SF3 characters. He directed the design and animation of sprites for SF2 and SF3. Fun Fact! Like really cool. Akiman made a reference sheet back in the SF2 days that would direct how artists in Capcom should animate Street Fighter characters, and how they should proportion them. That reference sheet was used up to SF4, and probably even SFV! He's had a big influence in Capcom!
nimaiiikun Those artists are really inspiring for me. I'd say Bengus, Shinkiro, and Akiman's SF3 posters had big influences on my art. So big, I actually find it counterproductive nowadays 😁. Great artists tho.
The SNK artstyle didn't fit all the capcom characters, they looked a bit uncanny in the drawings. The SNK characters were made for the artstyle IMO, since they compliment the artstyle better
Capcom have had some great artists, in my opinion, way better than SNK's (I own lots of Capcom artbooks). But the Capcom artist who did the artwork shown in this video (for the Capcom vs SNK games) has to be one of the worst.
They're both VERY different, it's about a 50-50 for me I like Snk's shading, coloring, details and DAT ANATOMY, but I don't like how pale characters look TAN, and how everyone's faces look kinda similar Yet, I like Capcom's dynamic poses, how well they can make a character look SCARY and how different everyone look from each other, but I don't like the anatomy (it's REALLY off sometimes), or the faces they SOMETIMES have :/
As an art student that studies anatomy? It HURTS MY EYES to see a a human with incorrect anatomy (not talking about an imaginary creature, or an EXTREMELY cartoonish and minimalistic art style), in a more realistic-semirealistic style such as this There's being creative anatomy and making your own rule to it for your own art style And there's making A MISTAKE in a SOMEWHAT realistic art style Sorry if my opinion doesn't match your opinion, I'm not trying to fight you
SNK👍 Wins they have a perfect Art Graphical designed unbelievable it's look fantastic all the Characters perfectly is very easy to see the different for all CAPCOM is my favorite , if you want good fighting 1-1 or beaten up go on Capcom for sure they have more experience to make fighting game very well

Like the pic of geese, capcom one makes you feel like he is up to something sinister. But the snk one, seems shy but friendly. Its arguable really, but I like the capcom ones.
SNK is more realistic. Capcom is more stylised and cartoonish.
Capcom-style artwork: Kinu Nishimura (SNK characters), Daigo Ikeno (Capcom characters)
SNK-style artwork- Shinkiro
The Irony Shinkiro now works for Capcom, & the Newly Revived SNK Playmore had Falcoon as a Replacement.
Conrado Javier They also had Hiroaki for 2002 and XI. Nona for SvC: Chaos, 2001, and XIII. And Eisuke Ogura for XII and majority of promotional for XIV.
Falcoon is gone for a long time now, thank God
Straight criminal
Has Cammy ever been thicker than that though?
i think there are 3 artists.... the capcom side capcom drawings have one style and snk side capcom drawings have another totally different, and then is the snk side drawings is for both companies the same style. i think they are 3 artists
Yeah I mean just compare Ken (2:01) and Ryo (3:19)
@@KombatGod yeah!! o ryu and kim
Capcom has 2 artists, cause some characters on the Capcom side has a different art style than others
Yeah, I noticed some are a little off lol
If I were to insert my subjective opinion, I'd say that that SNK makes better in-game sprites(with a few exceptions, where they add jerky movements just to add them) and Capcom has a better artwork, cuz they add lots of characters' persona into it, which makes it so much more satisfying to the eye.
Snk for sure
I like Capcom expressive conceptual design of characters...SNK art is beautiful, it just comes off stagnant or stiff because of it being rendered so tightly. Although some of SNk designs I do like...I just prefer Capcom
Right, snk's doesnt feel as fluid, or should i say witj character? Most face shapes and eyes are drawn the same way
@@nat3299 _ hmmm..agree
I love how SNK Guile is straight up Bruce Willis.
3:00 Yuri: Yea, It's me! 😋👍
Chun-Li 3:09
Onii-Chan! 3:17
Cammy mindless doll's 3:43
*My dear friend Mai Shiranui!* 3:52
*Mai Shiranui 24/7* 😍
0:46 seconds: SNK wins Zangief.
2:21 one looks like the main villain and one looks like the mentor of the hero in some anime.
Snk's Chun-Li is really pretty hot damn. And Snk's Zangief looks like a real person, scary.
Left anime, right cosplayer
Capcom characters are something I would read and draw from a manga
SNK characters are something I would have as figmas in my collection
SNK: Clean/Simple and Realistic.
Capcom: Details here and there plus Shades and more SHADES!!!
Good memories of that PS One classic ahhh... I Remember scrolling these in the menu every day
Shinkiro é inigualável! Snk sempre!!!!
Digão Lima sempre
Shinkiro só prestou até KOF 97.
As an artist myself..I can appreciate both company's artwork..but I like capcom's rough layouts over snks smooth version.
The SNK artwork looks like actual photos.
The Capcom artwork is still good, though.
Honestly a straight up draw for me. I went back and forth on almost every other picture. (Capcom versions of Mai and Yamazaki have always been hideous to me tho) Huge fan of both companies and have been since the early 90’s. Man this just makes me want a CvS3 even moreso.
Capcom: Anime/Manga, SNK: Realistic
I like the Capcom art more, they're more unique. Snk arts have almost all the same eye and eyebrow, so they look almost the same face
Tbh the same face syndrom isnt even that bad imo. Some have it but most are rather well done imo
They all looks like Goerge Clooney XD
@@phantomgamer4463 yesssssss
El Artwork de Shinkiro está de poca madre!!!!
I would give slight edge to capcom. Love both!
jonnie scott Capcom’s artists were 99% of the time WAAAAY better at drawing dynamic gestures and character expression.
0:44
Oh man capcom's zangief has a *russian sausage*
The way Capcom did their own characters in these illustrations is unforgivable. They showed love to the SNK characters though for sure.
0:44 I loughed so hard in here, this shit could unleash many memes in the future
3:12 creo que es el diseño que mas me gustó del de SNK
Capcom = Detailed and expressive.
SNK = Shiny and picturesque.
Capcom's art can beat SNK's for some characters, but in Kyo's and Cammy's case, they looked good. :) Older even.
0:55 is that stronheim
SNK style is freakishly life like. They tend to capture real life faces, expressions, and a very clean look. Most of the SNK art captures a candid look. SNK is my vote! Capcom is nice aswell if youre looking for that power fantasy look. More action.
SNK artworks looks so much better, more realistic and have so pretty faces.
Capcom is very "cartoony" and sometimes ugly.
SNK😍😍
I like both pretty equally. It’s almost not even fair to compare because generally speaking for these, they’re going for two VERY different styles. And I love both
SNK sem comparação 😁🖤🖤🖤❤️❤️❤️🖤
Love the music being used in this video
Snk more nice
capcom has so much life to their art. super expressive
snk's art is painterly. capcom's art are illustrations.
Painterly??? It's still an illustration.
what are you trying to say?
Wolfie Wolf First part of my original comment I'm trying to get you to elaborate on what you think is "painterly" art is and why Shinkiro's illustrations are painterly. Second part of my original comment I'm disagree with the way you used the word illustration original comment. "SNK's art is painterly. Capcom's art are illustrations." This implies that Capcom's art are illustrations, but SNK's isn't. Given the definition of illustration after google searching it, SNK's art are illustrations too.
I don't mean to be rude by the way.
Capcom art is more like painted sketches, I really hated that back in CvS2, all Capcom art rusty and stained trying to compensate with dynamism but all looked ugly, since then, I think Capcom was becoming lazy to work.
SNK ART STYLE for The win ... it looks real and anime at the same time.. I even try to draw like this back in high school...
i'm a kof player also but capcom has much more expression and figure. SNK is realist but kind of boring and no personality
Damn I thought the same thing
Foram dois desenhistas pro lado da CAPCOM, não? Um pra desenhar os personagens da empresa e o outro, pra foder as da concorrente! Ao passo que o Shinkiro não desrespeitou nenhum personagem.
Sometimes the SNK realism becomes uncomfortable.
both are good, just an apples to oranges comparison. but I do prefer shinkiro's males than his female designs. on a related note, who was the artist for SF3?
nimaiiikun The three major artists that worked on SF3 were Kinu Nishimura, Akiman, and Daigo Ikeno.
Thanks! Kinu is my favorite among the Capcom artists. but Daigo, Akiman, and Shinkiro are close behind!
nimaiiikun Those artists are really inspiring for me. I'd say Bengus, Shinkiro, and Akiman's SF3 posters had big influences on my art. So big, I actually find it counterproductive nowadays 😁. Great artists tho.
Capcom's version of Terry looked pretty damn cool. Like wise SNK's version of Ryu.
Needs more of Kinu Nishimura's artwork, and less of Daigo Ikenos.
Again Capcom's IORI 🤔🤔🤔 but SNK'S IORI🥳🥳👌👌👌👌👍👍👍👍
The SNK artstyle didn't fit all the capcom characters, they looked a bit uncanny in the drawings. The SNK characters were made for the artstyle IMO, since they compliment the artstyle better
Viola the Raccoon maybe you just find it odd to see them in SNK's style, like I do.
Shinkiro’s work has always been my favorite.
SNK Ryu looks like Charlie sheen 1:27
Capcom:anime character
Snk:cosplayers
SNK
SNK forever. The art work the artist used for UMVC3 is my fav.
Why everyone looks the same in snk artwork
I love SNK!!
Capcom have had some great artists, in my opinion, way better than SNK's (I own lots of Capcom artbooks). But the Capcom artist who did the artwork shown in this video (for the Capcom vs SNK games) has to be one of the worst.
Funny, because Daigo Ikeno has done better artwork, if his work for 3rd Strike is anything to go by.
They're both VERY different, it's about a 50-50 for me
I like Snk's shading, coloring, details and DAT ANATOMY, but I don't like how pale characters look TAN, and how everyone's faces look kinda similar
Yet, I like Capcom's dynamic poses, how well they can make a character look SCARY and how different everyone look from each other, but I don't like the anatomy (it's REALLY off sometimes), or the faces they SOMETIMES have :/
As an art student that studies anatomy?
It HURTS MY EYES to see a a human with incorrect anatomy (not talking about an imaginary creature, or an EXTREMELY cartoonish and minimalistic art style), in a more realistic-semirealistic style such as this
There's being creative anatomy and making your own rule to it for your own art style
And there's making A MISTAKE in a SOMEWHAT realistic art style
Sorry if my opinion doesn't match your opinion, I'm not trying to fight you
And I didn't see you said "illustration" sorry DX
Long story short, both styles have different strengths and weaknesses :P
I've always liked the SNK style more in this game, it looked real. Wish they've did a third game.
i honestly love both, people may say negative things between art styles but i personally love both art styles
SNK👍 Wins they have a perfect Art Graphical designed unbelievable it's look fantastic all the Characters perfectly is very easy to see the different for all
CAPCOM is my favorite , if you want good fighting 1-1 or beaten up go on Capcom for sure they have more experience to make fighting game very well
Alain Azor sorry but blanka looks ill a lot are draws but there are also a few clear winners as well
oh blanka i see
Going With SNK here. It was mind-blowing to see Shinkiro doing Capcom characters at the time. The art on Capcom vs. SNK 2 is much harder to choose between for me.
3:53 mai got big features like the forehead lmao
Can't decide which one looks better. Both of them are looking great in their own way.
3:44 Nice trap Cammy
XD I JUST NOW REALIZED THAT BULGE
