Both styles are great but I much prefer Capcoms art style. It’s more dynamic expressions and poses unlike SNK that goes for a static photo realistic style and normal poses.
Capcom: let me make a different artwork for every character. SNK: *looks at evil ryu* , okay lets just take the one we made for Ryu, flip him horizonatally, and change his skin color and clothes color and slightly change the facial expression.
I love both, my only gripe with the snk art is it looks like everyone had the same head lol. Also as odd as this will sound, snk draws white characters really well. Asian characters look off. The exception being todo. You also can't ignore the attention to detail in muscle structure snk puts in.
SNK's artwork looks very samey for this game, while Capcom's shows a much better grasp of what the characters stand for and does a much better job of showcasing their key personality traits for people unfamiliar with said characters.
Explain to me how I am in any way wrong in my assessment. I don't see any argument of any substance in your, just a bit about eye doctors. Elaborate. Clearly you're interested enough to spend time on this discussion since you took the time to reply to my comment.
@@marcotren you need to learn marketing son , over sexualizing things is some of marketing technique , they need to sell the game. Say what you like but human is sometimes simple as rock.
@Mark Grossi i agree, the over the top posses does add more personality to the characters and gives you more of an idea of what the character is on first glance. This is really important when designing characters. The Snk feel more down to earth but both are good in their own right.
I think it's ironic how anime artstyles are usually criticized for characters looking too similar (which they can) yet in this case the "realistic" versions of all these characters feel more copy pasted.
That photorealistic feel of snk its great cause' for them, they're not only fighting char but persons with personality outside of the tournaments and all, i love that thing that snk put on his art
Dio Brandon that's exactly my oppinion, in snk art I can't see any traits from the characters personality, they all look like posing for a photo shoot...
Uhm... You're wrong. I don't prefer Capcom's art because I prefer Capcom over SNK; I prefer Capcom's art because I prefer Capcom's art. Capcom's Zangief isn't afraid, what are you talking about? Sure, his expression can be interpreted in different ways, but the point is that Zangief has always been this huge Russian wrestler who wrestled bears and could throw people many meters up into the air before sending them down again with full force. Look at how veiny and huge, almost deformed, Zangief looks in Capcom's artwork because of his muscles. He looks scary, but that's probably intentional, because fighting him is a scary experience. SNK's art is something I'd expect from a video game, but Capcom's art is something I'd expect from like a comic book or an animated movie, and that artistic flair that Capcom has appeals to me way more than a photoshoot of the same guy wearing different costumes and wigs. And if you want to make comparisons, fine, I'll bite. Look at Dhalsim. He's a mysterious character with a very unorthodox fighting style. You can easily tell that from Capcom's depiction of him and the way his pose has a lot of curves and bends, but SNK made him look like an MMA fighter, and his pose is quite frankly the most uninspired and generic I have seen in forever.
Goliath Online I like both styles, but I enjoy capcom’s approach more here for the same reason as the OP. I hope you realize your description of those two characters is the same description for the rest of the cast as SNK drew them? Standing there and smiling or standing confidently. Kind of defeating your point. Let’s do a small experiment. Imagine all of SNK’s character art here as silhouettes. Line them up side by side. Do you think you could tell the difference? Do the same for Capcom now. I believe Capcom’s art would be significantly easier to identify even as a silhouette because the poses are varied and have personalities. Hopefully you see my point.
Dio Brandon I agree with you 100% except I’d say Capcom’s art is more detailed than SNKs. Just look at those muscles, veins and clothing folds. Bootiful.
@@shubhamjuvatkar4023 It's true, Capcom's version looks like a zombie and it looks very cool. But I prefer the psycho xD. Although I love the Capcom version of evil ryu too

cont. Yuri: Capcom-- She is actually very similar to Sakura. There are some keys that help convey youthfulness, but Yuri face is more cheerful and her pose is busier. The image is actually divided into two halfs [the top and the bottom]. The top, as expressed, show a very youthful Yuri. The hands literally act as a line for the picture, with the head in the middle forcing the eye to notice her big eyes. The lower half displays more heavy covering than the top acting as support, but display an almost oddly enlarged hips (perhaps to show maturity). SNK-- They placed her in a glamour pose. Almost assuming you know who she is. The elbows is on line with the face; putting the face in the center of the picture. The body is straight making a slanted "T" shape. It is the classic "sexy" pose. Noting much. Capcom sees her kinda like an older Sakura. Her style is almost identical to hers, and her use of axis angles are very similar, but she is shown to be more "mature" in fighting than Sakura. This is shown threw the goofy pose which can be paired perfectly with Sakura to tell the story that Sakura went for her Shoryuken and Yuri dodged. SNK is confident that the player knows who she is, so they propped her up in a pin-up pose. She is seen almost like a cover girl. Which makes sense since she is one of the fore runners of ladies in the KOF mythos. Ken: Capcom-- Ken looks absolutely deceitful. He is turned around away from the viewer looking over his shoulder in a disinterested manner. The lean could show that he just noticed whomever he is looking at, but the look and detail of his face shows that he is intense and ready to fight. SNK-- Ken looks more overtly alert and open. He is prepared. Capcom is showing a theme with the cast [draw power foils or a reference scene]. The pose of the picture can be of Ken opening with Terry, while SNK took a safe and maybe lazy route. Ken is in a lazy preparation stance. Ryo: Capcom-- They tried their best to make him reminiscent to Ryu and referenced this in the picture, as Ryo is in a classic Shotokan chamber ready stance. The muscles show off his strength and intensity. SNK-- The choose to use Ryo's more friendly side. Showing him in more arrogant pose half facing his opponent and looking over his shoulder. Capcom may was poking fun of SNK by relating a tongue in cheek nudge to Ryo's inspiration. Like an inside joke since Ryo is in fighting pose looking up at an opponent. Ryo is very tall and not many others are taller than him. This can be a joke toward Sagat. SNK have shown Robert as a goof ball, so this picture fits that theme. Guile: Capcom-- The beauty is in the face. The look of anguish that's slightly off line with the dog tag. The tag is almost devoid of the body being held "far" from the body. It's the key of the picture and show direct relation to the face. SNK-- This one is actually pretty lazy. It's just Guile stepping into the fight with a smile. Noting special. Capcom wanted us to see the link between him and charlie death. Even if you don't know the history, you could tell that the dog tag is a source of great regret for him. Again Capcom is trying to capture the entirety of the character into one drawing, while SNK just gave him a pose. This shows that they probably didn't know anything about him besides he was really good fighter. That's just a little sample of the different focus on details they made. Really makes all the difference. If you want more just let me know.
Capcom’s style is very expressive and comical. It’s shows each and every character’s personality. SNK is clear cut and smooth making everyone look like a GQ model. I personally like the majority of Capcom’s art more than SNK shown in this video.
All of the SNK character drawings look like siblings. The Capcom ones look like they were drawn with dirty paint on paper that was balled up then smoothed out.
Capcom: The poses portrays a bit of the personalities of the characters, the colors are ok more or less SNK: Realistic colors, good looking graphics in the drawings, but have simple poses that can't say anything of the characters If these two drawing styles combined into one, what do you guys think the result would be?
I love the idea of capcom artists drawing splash art for the SNK part of the roster and SNK artists drawing splash art for the capcom roster. More crossover games should do this.
Snk was on the verge of bankruptcy so capcom had the upper hand so capcom tells snk to do their artwork while they terrorized snk's characters. i believe many snk fans were offended by what capcom did to their favorite characters.
If I were looking to buy a game, Capcom's illustrations would draw me in far more than SNK's. Each is good in its own way but Capcom's style is more alluring.
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon not the art style, the stance and emotion the characters portray. Just standing their is what I get from the snk side while I see emotion and character from the capcom side.

chillincello calling the the colors subtle is a bit of a stretch. And the faces they’re making aren’t very expressive compared to the capom side how ever they are more realistic. Just look at cammys, you learn more about her from capcoms. Her pose makes her look like a soldier for some nazis, which she practically is, and her tucked fist makes her look like a Marshall artist, like Taekwondo. The snk side his some stripper looking lady with fire hydrant hands looking off screen. She doesn’t even look muscular, she looks straight up like a stripper. At least the capcom side gives her muscles and a fighting stance to try and fix that.
Capcom for Anime, SNK for "Realistic" pick your aesthetic imo Capcom's take on Kyo made him too skinny outside of that i lean towards Capcom over SNK because of it's over the top fantasy style it fits the games so much better while SNK looks boreing and ment for a live action movie rather than a over the top fighting game kinda like the Sprite vs 3D Model argument

For me the best snk artwork shown here is sakura's it just conveys such a cute aura and it just reminds me of old model magazines with their big smiles
I feel the female fights drawn in snk are just as good as capcom style
3:05 nice touch having his feet hang out
Both styles are great but I much prefer Capcoms art style. It’s more dynamic expressions and poses unlike SNK that goes for a static photo realistic style and normal poses.
SNK arts stays loyal to their concept. Feels so nostalgic.
Which makes it bad

SNK's artwork looks very samey for this game, while Capcom's shows a much better grasp of what the characters stand for and does a much better job of showcasing their key personality traits for people unfamiliar with said characters.
Explain to me how I am in any way wrong in my assessment. I don't see any argument of any substance in your, just a bit about eye doctors. Elaborate. Clearly you're interested enough to spend time on this discussion since you took the time to reply to my comment.
but all boring ass capcoms art works looks generic af oversized and over sexualized
As artwork da Capcom tem um traço mais anime enquanto a SNK usa um traço mais realista

Capcom - Looks like the characters
SNK - Looks like random people cosplaying as characters
Jordan Martel (snk) I'd probably more lean towards the actual characters posing for a photo shoot lol
That’s it. Those were exactly the words I was looking for.
TrueSinister Yours is a stupidly offended comment over someone's opinion.
Nailed it.
i take it you don't know Shinkiro lol

Right: 3D-esque shading and cosplayers.
Capcom : character have more detail and manga styles
Snk : Character have half 3d and feel like realistic
3:19 phew it sure is humid in hear.....
That photorealistic feel of snk its great cause' for them, they're not only fighting char but persons with personality outside of the tournaments and all, i love that thing that snk put on his art
I like Capcom's artwork way more. Yeah, SNK is more detailed and realistic, but the portraits have zero character.
Bootiful.
Ed Boon 3:20 bootyfull
CAPCOM best Fighting game experience 👍
SNK 2 still very good on graphical designer + the Art is the power
SNK's artwork is really unique, it's like anime trying to be realistic at the same time.

Blanka’s SNK art on the other hand. What happened to him?
That’s... what the Riot blood state is, a state of insanity, blind rage yet also pure sadism for some like Iori, which makes his SNK art... Kinda better looking, Blanka wise, Shinkiro um... kinda did the best he can and in all of his appearances? This is probably the best he’ll ever have

cont.
Yuri:
Capcom-- She is actually very similar to Sakura.
Ken:
Capcom-- Ken looks absolutely deceitful.
Ryo:
Capcom-- They tried their best to make him reminiscent to Ryu and referenced this in the picture, as Ryo is in a classic Shotokan chamber ready stance.
Guile:
Capcom-- The beauty is in the face.
Honestly, Akuma laughing is a lot scarier than his normal angry self.
I vastly prefer capcom, only some villians look better in snk style imo

Capcom’s style is very expressive and comical. It’s shows each and every character’s personality.
SNK is clear cut and smooth making everyone look like a GQ model.

All of the SNK character drawings look like siblings. The Capcom ones look like they were drawn with dirty paint on paper that was balled up then smoothed out.
You mean the capcom drawings have more detail?
I think there are limited amount of models they hired to pose for the snk artists.
I just love Shinkiro's style. One main reason because his characters usually shows happy expressions.
At the same time though, SNK's art looks kinda plastic.
Capcom and snk wins!!!!
You Mean A Tie?

Seriously though. Does someone owe him money?!
Capcom: The poses portrays a bit of the personalities of the characters, the colors are ok more or less
SNK: Realistic colors, good looking graphics in the drawings, but have simple poses that can't say anything of the characters
If these two drawing styles combined into one, what do you guys think the result would be?
SNK is better.
@@edwardsolaire5672 Both of them are good in my opinion
Kinu Nishimura is the capcom artist responsible for most of these images on the left side. She is just tooooooooooooooo good.

Leonidas Mateo objective
If anime-ish is personality.
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon not the art style, the stance and emotion the characters portray. Just standing their is what I get from the snk side while I see emotion and character from the capcom side.
@@BamBam_TYM There is tons of personality in the SNK, from the subtle color tones used in the color palette, to the life like palpable expression of their faces. While Capcom's might be more overt, make no mistake Snk's expression is incredibly present
chillincello calling the the colors subtle is a bit of a stretch.
5:12 that pretty much says it all

Fikri Yadi SNK Rock looks like Owen Wilson
Keb that's good enough to consider him as an old man.
