Tekken 8 is not only superior graphically but in art style and character design. I honestly think that a lot of these characters looked better, even the previous games, let alone in 8.
Many games don't *wow* me any more with their graphical jump between instalments. Tekken is an exception. The difference in hair, eyes, skin, and cloth is massive.
One weird thing about Panda and Kuma, their mouths never move during actual gameplay Everywhere else (intro/winning screens, story cutscenes) their mouths move accordingly. No idea why but ever since I noticed it I can't unsee it
It's crazy how great the graphics have improved. Tekken 7 is a pretty old game tho too all things considered, but Tekken has always been top notch with expanding graphics with each iteration. Always crazy looking back on old models and graphics and thinking "That's what I've been looking at this whole time?!" without fail. There's a gonna be time where Tekken 8 is gonna look like graphics from the past. *Brain explosion sfx png*
To be fair to Tekken 7: it originally released in 2015, so there's almost a full 9 years of technological (and graphical) advancements between it and Tekken 8.
Tekken 8 is a huge step forward in every single way except one small detail - transparent glossy textures. I was noticing it on the female characters' lipstick/gloss and thought maybe I was just being a perv, but then Yoshi's helmet made me realize that it's legit a thing. I think that it has something to do with the new lighting, which is better overall but seems to have a little bit of trouble with this one specific style of texture. Rather than realistic glossy reflection, it's now just a dull transparent tint. Leroy's glasses provide another good example. A smaller quibble is that many textures which used to be white now look like satin silver. This is most noticeable on Nina's dress, Lars' armor highlights and Devil Jin's outfit at the end.
I like that in some waythe models in TK8 has a more distinctive look that represents the nationality and origin of the character more than 7. Take Alisa as an example, with the modification and some ingame angle (especially one shown in the video) you can easily tell she came from Russia (I mean, she is modeled after Dr. Bosconovitch deceased daughter, who was a Russian) since she really sparks the Russian vibe and look exactly as how a common Russian might look - which is directly different from her generic anime-looking model in 7. And that just does not stop with her, you have Lars with a Scandinavian look, Lili is now a true European, Claudio is as Italian as ever, and more.
i actually like tekken 7 nina, look at that smug face. BUT DAMN t7 asuka and lili hurts to see (lars too). T8 asuka looks good sure but it doesnt have the same vibes from her pre tekken 7 face models, idk how to put it into words. T8 lili tho.. mwah
I knew i wasn't crazy. Something felt off with Asuka. She got thicc. Her chest is definitely larger, and she has actual muscle on her thighs and arms. Which makes sense since she bikes everywhere and does archery.
I also really like how everything flows much more naturally in T8. Hair, clothes...Yoshi's tail doesn't "sink" into the floor anymore. 😄 The clipping with Lili's sleeves used to be atrocious as well.
I still can’t believe they are still able to improve the graphics and visuals to this day. I still remember seeing tekken 3 in the arcades being blocky messes and even the first virtua fighter where the characters jumped like they were on the moon
Will gotta give Tekken 7 the credit it deserves had it flopped as well as Tekken tag tournament before it the franchise would have been dead for good and we wouldn't have seen those huge improvements in the new game
The Graphical Fidelity jump model-wise is so high and I am so happy that my Almost obsolete PC is still able to play it between 50-60 FPS at 1600x900, medium settings.
I've noticed something since back in the day, the CGI on the PS1 became the real-time graphics on the PS2, the CGI on the PS2 became the real-time graphics on the PS3, and now we see the CGI on the PS4 becoming the real-time graphics on the PS5.
I was sitting here thinking why i just can't get into the new street fighter games, and this explains it. I felt so much Nostalgia watching this vid... namco has done its fans justice
I've been watching videos of T8 for so long and now actually playing it and I still can't get over how good this game looks. The character models are S Tier.
I love that when you actually give the player what they want they respond positively? The reason why these games continue is because of the dedicated fanbase!
one thing I noticed thanks to this video is how important subtle eye movements are , used in tandem with mocap, take alisa's segment of the video for instance, she sways a lot in her idle animation putting her weight down from one foot to the other and tilting her head up and down as a consequence, in real life your eyelids would follow the movement, when your head tilts backword they'd slightly close and the eye would rebalance in order to keep looking straight ahead (in this case looking at the other fighter) somehow the sways look better in tekken 7 even being basically the same animation, maybe because of the uncanny valley effect tricking me with the high-quality model of tekken 8, looking way more realistic graphically but clashing more with the old eye movement
You can tell they ñut much effort on DLC characters like Zafina than in the base roster of Tekken 7. Is crazy the transformation Lili or Asuka got where they look like dolls on 7 and actual people on 8 while Zafina is looking much better and is not such a crazy jump from game to gsme desing wise

Tekken 7 still looks amazing to this day, which just goes to show just how GOOD Tekken 8 looks
Asuka's breast size has increased.
lesgooooooo
yo también lo vi
Her shoulder got bigger too. It looks like she lost half her neck, lmao.
She grew older did she? And what happened when a teenage girl grew older? Increase in size and strength.
Straight to the point bruh
Most look fantastic. And then there is Alisa and Law that look like completely different people.
it is strange to me how drastically Law's face changed when the same didn't happen to Feng
their musculature became way more detailed and their builds changed a bit, but Feng's face changed much less than Law's did
3:21 Damn one of Laws scars completely healed within one year?
Tekken 8 is not only superior graphically but in art style and character design.
I honestly think that a lot of these characters looked better, even the previous games, let alone in 8.
I think the reason why tekken 7 felt so low quality and was given such low effort is there were saving their
budget for Tekken 8
Especially tekken 7 has low budget to create their game since the flop of TTT2
가장 큰 차이는 눈인듯 7때는 허공을 보는거 같았는데 8때는 진짜로 뭔가를 바라보고 있다는 느낌을 받음...
Omg the music is from the tulip arena in TT2.. it‘s so nostalgic!! 😭
Many games don't *wow* me any more with their graphical jump between instalments. Tekken is an exception. The difference in hair, eyes, skin, and cloth is massive.
One weird thing about Panda and Kuma, their mouths never move during actual gameplay
Everywhere else (intro/winning screens, story cutscenes) their mouths move accordingly. No idea why but ever since I noticed it I can't unsee it
it never gets old comparing the new character models to the previous game.
0:34 one of the most badass entrance I've ever seen
I love how they made Asuka's body softer.
This is insane, because I always thought Tekken 7 looked good, but holy fuck Tekken 8 blew that shit out of the water
Exactly
Paul on Tekken 8 looks so good and realistic 🤯
Jin looked hotter in 7 to me, but characters like Claudio and Lars and Hwoarang are delectable in 8.
And that just does not stop with her, you have Lars with a Scandinavian look, Lili is now a true European, Claudio is as Italian as ever, and more.
ur right actually she does look a lil russian, funny talks japanese tho
@@igg7865 well since she is a robot I could let that pass, but not that Swedish guy speaking Japanese lmaooo
@@TheJNGKvault my favorite anime swede
Yeah she looks more Slavic in Tekken 8 more white European esque
@@TheJNGKvaultHe is half Japanese half Sweden.
I’m in love with the hair physics in T8
i actually like tekken 7 nina, look at that smug face. BUT DAMN t7 asuka and lili hurts to see (lars too). T8 asuka looks good sure but it doesnt have the same vibes from her pre tekken 7 face models, idk how to put it into words. T8 lili tho.. mwah
Growing up with ps1 it's amazing how the technology has grown
I knew i wasn't crazy. Something felt off with Asuka. She got thicc. Her chest is definitely larger, and she has actual muscle on her thighs and arms.
Which makes sense since she bikes everywhere and does archery.
Ok creep
Devil Jin in Tekken 5 was some freaky nightmare shit. Tekken 7 got this guy looking like he cosplay.
I like his Tekken Tag 2 Prologue version the most
He doesn't look Human in that game
Why does t8 lili look more like lili then lili has ever looked 😂😂😂
Tekken 8 finally looks like how Tekken 7 should have looked on release.

5:04 The favorite.
Pause at 1:27 look how much Alisas face has changed 💕 in Tekken 7 she looks more robot like, but in tekken 8 she looks more human
Hworang got such a huge upgrade
I was sitting here thinking why i just can't get into the new street fighter games, and this explains it.
I felt so much Nostalgia watching this vid... namco has done its fans justice
Tekken 8 Graphics looks more polished and Detailed Then Tekken 7
They really do remake the game every time, it's not just Bethesda.
Devil Jin looks so good DAMN
I've been watching videos of T8 for so long and now actually playing it and I still can't get over how good this game looks. The character models are S Tier.
There are some dumb people out there that say Tekken 8 is not much of a graphical improvement over 7
One of them is literally here, saying "tEkKeN 7 iS wAy MoRe ReAlIsTiC" 😑
I hate how T8 looks. But it's only my opinion. I don't like the washed out colors, weird faces and worse lighting.
that's tekken 7 that got those problems bruh
@@azureawe 7 looks really better than 8. Not really good, but much better than 8.
@@adrenaliner91 there is no way in hell 7 looks better than 8
Damn, that low budget they had for Tekken 7 really showed, still find it crazy how TTT2 not selling well caused that in the first place
I love that when you actually give the player what they want they respond positively? The reason why these games continue is because of the dedicated fanbase!
one thing I noticed thanks to this video is how important subtle eye movements are , used in tandem with mocap,
take alisa's segment of the video for instance, she sways a lot in her idle animation putting her weight down from one foot to the other and tilting her head up and down as a consequence, in real life your eyelids would follow the movement, when your head tilts backword they'd slightly close and the eye would rebalance in order to keep looking straight ahead (in this case looking at the other fighter)
somehow the sways look better in tekken 7 even being basically the same animation, maybe because of the uncanny valley effect tricking me with the high-quality model of tekken 8, looking way more realistic graphically but clashing more with the old eye movement
Claudio so handsome in T8
The characters in Tekken 8 look ridiculously good.
Nah, Asuka still looks bad.
Tekken 8 looks absolutely INSANE on my LG OLED 🔥
They dont waste a single motion capture animation at Bamco.
