HD is definitely better, unlike Street Fighter HD, but man, Athena's legs are bigger than her waist. Yuri also has an awkward pose that makes her look really oddly proportioned. Everyone else looks fair.
The HD sprites are supposed to look exaggerated. Ralf and Clark look extra buff and tough for military men. Leona has that air of overconfidence and impatience about her that can be attributed to a somewhat accomplished teenager who has yet to experience the world outside the well, metaphorically speaking. King became a lot more feminine and slim, because who cares about realistic if it makes her look more appealing and less like a man in drag? Athena, being a young pop star, was made to look plump, because plumpness is an indicator of youth and exuberance. Yuri is supposed to represent a young teenage girl who hit puberty a bit too hard in the chest area, and is trying to come off as a competent fighter despite being one of the the youngest entrants, when clearly every nuance of her posture screams inexperience, self-doubt, and insecurity in a body that she has yet to get used to. The way that she presses her arms closely to her breasts, trying to keep them from bouncing too much or "spilling out", is also a nod to much earlier Art of Fighting games, where her losses resulted in her top ripping apart. To me, there was a lot of great storytelling simply in the new art style and the added animation frames that wasn't possible previously on the Neo Geo. Whoever the artist was clearly knew what he/she was doing.
I felt that the visuals of some characters might not have changed so abruptly, for example the military looked very different and pumped up... And poor Athena lost her iconic movements in the game. And especially her hair and her face changed suddenly, I don't think that was necessary.

these animations are SO good
2:00 wow the movement is awesome in Kim sprite HD and SD
Beimar Arturo yea ikr his pants are so beautiful
Using sprites from diferent SNK games to compare was not a good idea. Should've kept it KOF only.
I wish Street Fighter had done this style instead of their HD Remix. It just looks teeeeerrrrribe lol
Teribe?
HD Remix was done by a couple comic artists. KOF XIII was done by a whole team of seasoned professional artists. It isn't fair to compare them
I'll give this to snk. They make some of the best looking sprites, like goddamn even the hair and clothes have animation on them
Some HD translate the amazing SD style but some HD remake a new design and most of them become really bad
Terry, Clark and especially Ralph animations look good in HD, but I personally like their older ones. I think it's because they don't look like they been taking drugs, plus Ralph can't even shuffle like he used to anymore.
Mai has serious back problems
Billy HD lost all hope, lol. I won't lie, but I feel like they got a little lazy with him compared to his SD sprites
Kula lost her Ice spark
Ashley is looking more and more like a girl (pretty sure that's the whole point, I guess)
I'm not knocking any characters except the first 4 I mentioned, cuz the animations are very well detailed, like Kim's pants again.
whats the name of the background music ?
Naz Dhillon that’s what I want to know it’s great
Still no one knows it? xc
That's what I wanna know

Me encantan tus vídeos!
2:00 Dem pants
@킹오브95팬 hello
In my opinion, SD has the best idle stances. And HD has the best art design.
how to spoil a character: 1:36
The HD female sprites can't decide whether they'll do the cute anime artstyle or stick to the original anime artsyle on the old ones.
HD Ash Crimson confuses me greatly, from a hormone perspective?
Thankfully Japan is nothing like Tumblr. Sometimes they have fun being girly looking, just as a matter of style.
Robert went from looking like a dork to someone I'd actually want to play as
The standard sprites will always be better in my opinion. (Athena is my Waifu)
Before Drugs: SD
After Drugs: HD
