You're not going to tell me that the spindly limbs and over-sized heads are mean't as a means of association, or that somehow these will capture the "male gaze" They had more realistic proportions before and already had the "male gaze" I'm guessing the ol' boy they had design the female characters has a Lolita complex.
Compared to her 96 sprite this isn't too different. I don't know why the uploader decided to compare sprites from like 3 different games. They have Fatal Fury 3 Andy compared to XIII and Art of Fightimg 2 Yuri to XIII. Art of fighting 2 and Fatal Fury 3 are game with completely different artstyles. AOF2 was more realistic while FF3 was more exaggerated. The uploader also didn't compare the Psycho Soldier Athena with her XIII even though they chose to compare XIII with series that weren't KOF.

HD gets the hair swishing, lighting, and soft shading done correctly, but the muscle mass, poses, and general character design is still perfect in SD. It's nice to see a game that doesn't need upgrades getting them anyway so you can appreciate how strong the foundations have always been.
KOF is many things, ANIME ART STYLE is not one of them.... infact, KOF 99 even though by everyone is the most anime one, still has features which makes it lean towards the previous more pseudo/realistic art style Hell, STREET FIGHTER is more of an anime fighter than KOF in terms of art style
Robert García's HD form is perfect. That menacing feeling the character gives should be default... not the latin lover style they wanted to attach to him in several games. AoF 1 style forever.

SD had a lot more details in the sprite animations compare to their HD counterpart. Also most of the HD appearance are a bit too buff or lacking charm.
Standard version is better overall. High definition version looks good for just a handful of characters. In standard version characters look more alive.
For me, gaming artistry has always been about having the most movement, detail, character, and highest resolution as possible. While some SD sprites still look okay, the HD sprites excel in every category, including character. It’s kind of like cheating to compare these two sets of sprites, like showing Atari graphics, then showing PlayStation graphics. I don’t know what all of you are talking about when you say that SD looks better or feels better. The flow of movement is far better in the HD sprites.

Well, technically, all of the sprite work in SSF2T HD Remix was done by Udon (Whom I know nothing about), so you don't have to blame Capcom for the hot mess that was done there.

Capcom hired them to draw the SF2 comics for a while, and honestly, for comics it worked fine, but they should of hired a proper animator to do it properly. They either hired someone on the cheap, someone who didn’t care or think this was good, or just the artists figured they would use this project to learn animation.
Although technically impressive, the HD sprites are all over the place in terms of design. SNK’s strength has always been the realism it gives the characters through their spritework and animation. Some HD sprites like K, Kula, and especially Ash look amazing - straight upgrades. On the other hand, Terry has weird clothing, Yuri, Athena, Takuma, and quite a few others look cartoonish, and Joe looks half-finished. Ralph and Clark don’t even look human. I strongly prefer the consistency of the SD sprites.

King became a lot more feminine and slim, because who cares about realistic if it makes her look more appealing and less like a man in drag? Athena, being a young pop star, was made to look plump, because plumpness is an indicator of youth and exuberance. Yuri is supposed to represent a young teenage girl who hit puberty a bit too hard in the chest area, and is trying to come off as a competent fighter despite being one of the the youngest entrants, when clearly every nuance of her posture screams inexperience, self-doubt, and insecurity in a body that she has yet to get used to. The way that she presses her arms closely to her breasts, trying to keep them from bouncing too much or "spilling out", is also a nod to much earlier Art of Fighting games, where her losses resulted in her top ripping apart. To me, there was a lot of great storytelling simply in the new art style and the added animation frames that wasn't possible previously on the Neo Geo. Whoever the artist was clearly knew what he/she was doing.

Por otro lado, algunas de las chicas perdieron mucha masa (king) y no parecen que fuera ni siquiera del mismo juego Robert, Kim y Terry son el mejor ejemplo donde mantuvieron musculatura sin exagerar demasiado en los hombres. A su vez, Billy y Goro demuestran la musculatura que siempre fue aparente en sus sprites SD, la exageran un poco pero mantienen fidelidad con la original y amplian en esta Mature y Vice (y Leona en su mayor parte) mantuvieron un fisico decente y manteniendose fiel en su cuerpo viejo. El cuerpo denota y aumento un poco la feminidad pero sin exagerar en la masa quitada como fue el caso de King, que parece que el mismo aire le romperia los brazos.
I felt that the visuals of some characters might not have changed so abruptly, for example the military looked very different and pumped up... And poor Athena lost her iconic movements in the game. And especially her hair and her face changed suddenly, I don't think that was necessary.

I think the best imagen's sprites are from KOF XI, because It fixed many of the details to complete or improve the old versions, becoming them into better sequences of movements, and also there is an option of giving them more High definition with special cables of the console. KOF XIII is only another sort of art...
I miss ryo’s old stance And Terry shoul only be a little smaller, but with better fitting and lighter jeans Takuma looks great in both, but I do wish the gi was a bit more like the older variant (the bottoms mainly, the top looks fine in both). But the lack of wristbands I think is a nice way of separating him from Ryo as well. His belt should also be a bit longer. He now looks a bit more like okinawan karate which I do like because of the fact that he’s older, but I still think the bottom of the pants are a little open. As a karateka I still adore the change Kim’s pants are the epitome of technological advancement King got a major improvement. Even if she is a bit thinner, that fits Muay Thai well. Her outfit fits better and I think her hair is a bit better too even if a bit less realistic, it makes her look younger Iori got the best treatment in this game. His looks fit his character. Perfect upgrade Fuck vice no matter what she looks like. Also I prefer her old outfit, but the HD suits her assholiness Billy is so much more patient now. Crazy to see. Looks like character growth, and his new stance is really good. But that old movement is more to his personality from what I know Where is Kula’s ice aura? Fuck ash. SNK killed off KoF when they went 3D. This high res 2d artwork was a big selling point and probably the highest quality 2d artwork in any 2d fighter ever made.

Terry, Clark and especially Ralph animations look good in HD, but I personally like their older ones. I think it's because they don't look like they been taking drugs, plus Ralph can't even shuffle like he used to anymore. Mai has serious back problems Billy HD lost all hope, lol. Robert, Kim y Terry son el mejor ejemplo donde mantuvieron musculatura sin exagerar demasiado en los hombres. A su vez, Billy y Goro demuestran la musculatura que siempre fue aparente en sus sprites SD, la exageran un poco pero mantienen fidelidad con la original y amplian en esta
Mature y Vice (y Leona en su mayor parte) mantuvieron un fisico decente y manteniendose fiel en su cuerpo viejo. El cuerpo denota y aumento un poco la feminidad pero sin exagerar en la masa quitada como fue el caso de King, que parece que el mismo aire le romperia los brazos.

I felt that the visuals of some characters might not have changed so abruptly, for example the military looked very different and pumped up... And poor Athena lost her iconic movements in the game.
And especially her hair and her face changed suddenly, I don't think that was necessary.

Porque nunca salieron en el juego original solo son fanatrs basados en el estilo gráfico de kof xiii y dudo que se hagan personajes exactamente con ese estilo gráfico en mugen ya que pos esos sprites y animaciones son demasiado brutales y conllevan demasiado tiempo

I think the best imagen's sprites are from KOF XI, because It fixed many of the details to complete or improve the old versions, becoming them into better sequences of movements, and also there is an option of giving them more High definition with special cables of the console. KOF XIII is only another sort of art...

Many of the old sprites have so much personality to the character while the HD ones lack it.
I think it’s the other way around for many as well. Especially characters like Iori

Takuma looks great in both, but I do wish the gi was a bit more like the older variant (the bottoms mainly, the top looks fine in both). But the lack of wristbands I think is a nice way of separating him from Ryo as well. His belt should also be a bit longer. He now looks a bit more like okinawan karate which I do like because of the fact that he’s older, but I still think the bottom of the pants are a little open. As a karateka I still adore the change

King got a major improvement. Even if she is a bit thinner, that fits Muay Thai well. Her outfit fits better and I think her hair is a bit better too even if a bit less realistic, it makes her look younger
Iori got the best treatment in this game. His looks fit his character. Perfect upgrade

SNK killed off KoF when they went 3D. This high res 2d artwork was a big selling point and probably the highest quality 2d artwork in any 2d fighter ever made.
Jackamomo Oh, please. Even with their recent 3D attempt(s), SNK’s core gameplay and passion easily thrives with what they did with KOF 14. I’m hoping KOF 15 will be awesome, as well.

@@sladejosephwilson2300 Well Samurai Showdown was a big success but I still would prefer actual hd 2d sprites with loads of hand drawn animation. On closer inspection of KOF 14 I will say I think it's still a nice looking game.

Terry, Clark and especially Ralph animations look good in HD, but I personally like their older ones. I think it's because they don't look like they been taking drugs, plus Ralph can't even shuffle like he used to anymore.
