Approximately 20 years ago I was at the Meadowbrook Concours with my 550 replica. I was a member but the Porsche club wouldn't let me park with the 356s because it was a replica. They had me park off to the side of the club area. A guy from Ann Arbor Michigan pulled in next to me with a real 904 that appeared unrestored. We were the hit of that show area! I don't think the 356 guys were very happy with all the attention our cars were getting.
Was this originally a street 904? It's hard to tell in the video, but it looks like this car has Solex 40P11-4 carburetors, instead of Webers, and I don't recall the competition models coming with air cleaners. At least it still has the 4-cam engine. I worked part time for Al Cadrobbi (V.P. Engineering, Van Nuys, CA) in 1966-67. We maintained, among other racers, 904-012 for Steve Berg and Denny Harrison raced it.
The 904 GTS is so beautiful, such a stand-out design. There is a red one at my local Porsche dealer, I love it every time I see it. My son says it looks Italian 😊
Great video. It's so nice to watch someone who is both enthusiastic and knowledgeable and produce a video with unnecessary music or gags and jokes. ☘️👏
