I’m glad there is a channel out there that treats automobiles like sentient beings. They become a part of our lives, our families lives. They make memories, they bring joy, they make us feel alive. My relationship with my father truly began with sharing the love of cars and collaborating on restoring and repairing little gems that deserved a new lease on life. I’ve owned many air cooled 911’s, but the 3 L SC is by far my favorite air cooled 911 of all time. Such a reliable gem, I would cut my left arm off to own that car

Your best interview ever. I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed this. What a perfect match of everything that the Late Brake Show has been. Well done sir, to you and the team.
Such a heart warming barn find! There's so much I can relate to Helen and her family, coming from near Bham, part moving to mid/north Wales in the late 80s when I was very young with my parents. Sadly, my father passed suddenly having just celebrated his 50th in 1989, leaving my dear mum to balance both lives we had in the Midlands and Wales, the latter being a slate miners cottage in the mountains which took a serious amount of work. As a 9 year old, I really had to grow up quick to support her. I do sorely miss all the good years and memories that were taken away from us. My dad and his family were huge car fanatics too. I lost that mentor and personality that could have guided me in life. One can never be bitter about a bad situation though, life is hard and you have to make best with what you have. Helen, if you do happen to read this, please, please hold on to that car dearly. Get it running, fix it's faults and drive it when you want to be close to your husband - his soul is always with you. My dad has been by my side for 34 years now even though I barely remember him - but I do always wish I had one of his cars to keep running, it would feel like I was keeping him alive somehow. Bless you and your life to come Xx
What a lovely comment thank you. We would love to keep the car as it’s got so many memories. Unfortunately it’s going to get sold to fund my house which is going to be the barn you see in the background. Say to see it go but it will have gone to a good cause to make new memories
@@jamescorbett95able good luck wit the sale.... I'm sure Jonny will have guided you to Car and Classic and you could do a lot worse! Plenty of views on there and with a bit of support from Jonny on his socials, you are sure to do well. Good luck with the sale/build
@@jamescorbett95able James, my heart goes out to you mate, I totally understand your position. We had to sell everything of value (including the cottage in Wales 😥) to sustain life at that time. Make sure contractors don't waste the precious funds from the car. Plan, plan and plan before you spend. It will be amazing :)

Love to see the 911 running I was 18 and working at a Porsche garage in 1978, Dick Lovett Specialist cars, so brings home memories of driving Porsches around the yard and workshop. Agree great to see the TR6 in detail and possibly running soon.
I recognise the 911, I'm sure saw it driving through Rugby probably around the time the owner bought it - the cookie cutter alloys stood out a mile. Sadly Oxford St.Motors is no longer trading. Another great video Johnny.
Washing the Porsche by hand so the owner can see it in all its glory, fabulous, emotional. this is excellent stuff, so happy I found the channel. The people are just as important as the cars and the stories they tell, so neat. Thank you.
Heartwarming to see how Helen reacted when the car almost started. Brilliant as ever Jonny. Greetings from the Netherlands PS: Emelia Hartford just posted a video of a Shelby Daytona 64 'barnfind'! ;) 0:10
“Have I enjoyed this episode?” Off course I have Jonny, every episode I think, you’ve excelled yourself there. They just get better and better. Your ability to tell a story in such a sympathetic way treating the people you meet so nicely allowing them to speak is fantastic. Tbh I doubt the pimp story will ever be beaten😂. I wish Helen all the best with the Porsche and sincerely hope she manages to keep it in the family.
Great episode, but admittedly very sad at start. Hope Kevin is somewhere driving his dream cars on his favorite roads. That is a gem of a 911, beautiful color.
That was wonderful, it touched my heart when Helen was looking up to the sky and hoping it to start. I really wish she doesn't sell it. And really keeps it and restores it. I'm from Coventry my self and can confirm I wasn't the pimp 🤣
One of the best you've done - shame you came so close to getting it started. Lovely and brave lady allowing us all into her life for a day but looks like she got very excited :)
I am confused because Helen is so emotionally attached to this vehicle because of her husband and father-in-law's love of it, but why was it so ignored? My wife loves to sew and if her sewing machine was not used for 30+ years, I would make sure that at least I would dust off once in a while…
My wife was the same way, recognizing that to me, the specific car was unique and amazing. To her, it was still "just a car", a means of transportation. She has his memories and fondness for it now, doesn't need the actual car anymore.
I would imagine she has a lot of memories with them but it probably hurt too much to go near them for ages. I can’t imagine how hard it would be to even enter that garage let alone wash them
@@aaronburberry4656 exactly this. She probably never goes in that barn because of the sad memories. Especially after losing three family members in such a short time.
I suspect grief had a huge part to say in why these cars have been sat for so long, But I do hope that Helen can get the car going and even perhaps enjoy it and make some memories in her Husbands and Father in laws memories. Now that would be a brilliant tribute to them both.
Really loved this episode. Helen is just such a lovely, brave woman. It’s a privilege to have heard her brief, wonderful story of love and loss. What a super family. Johnny, excellent call to halt when you did. A Porsche flat six expert needed now. I expect a marque specialist will easily recommission the vehicle, brakes aside. I would want braking components vulnerable to ageing to be replaced or at least checked by an expert to avoid tragedy.
What a beautiful lady and a beautiful story. Just goes to show when you see a older car sitting in a garage, in a driveway or driving down the road there could be a awesome story that goes with it.
What a wonderful episode. We all so wanted to hear that run, but you were right to stop there. With a car that beautiful, clean and clearly cherished it’s a slow and careful approach that is best. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one in that colour combination either. What a beautiful car ❤ Thank you Jonny and Helen and family for sharing this with us.
What a great story. Great effort of all three of yous to try to that lovely 78 Porsche up and running again. What a lovely woman and a great story teller Helen is. ❤️🙂. Well done again Johnny. 👍
Watching this on Monday after a rather shitty day, What a heartwarming story told so beautifully by Helen and Jonny. What a beautiful old Porsche. I just love these barn finds and this one is one of the best. Please please can will have a follow up. Pretty Please.
No! It’s a dry sump oil system. Not only does it need to be running, but it needs to get up to temperature because the oil thermostat needs to open. If you’re going to put that much oil in it, you need to drain the old oil crank case and oil reservoir to the right of the engine, add 10 quarts, and then add as needed once up to temperature😳 A clue to you getting spark is the rev counter going up when you’re cranking. If it stayed on zero, there might be an ignition problem. That’s for the future.
Teared up a little when Helen started jumping. What a great story and gorgeous car. Love that color, and its in amazing condition. Was hoping for more on the TR6, but what a great episode!
Lovely find Jonny. Euro spec SC in Petrol Blue with cork interior and cloth inlay sport seats. I hope Helen brings it back up to working condition and either drives it herself or passes it on to her nephew assuming he is a car guy. It deserves to stay in the family with that lineage.
Had an SC for 20 years. Seeing it without oil makes me think he was about to tackle an issue. The obvious common ones are a cracked air box - they can backfire, split and cause a nair leak - which will stop it running like yours. The other common one is snapped head studs - a lot of SCs from this era will get them at some point. While it was drained of oil it would have been a good opportunity to get the valve covers off and have a look. Also, though I’m sure you were careful,be mindful where you jack them up - the oil lines run along the sills and are often crushed by people putting a jack in the wrong place. Hope to see it running again soon!
That’s the best video ❤so far johny, and what a wonderful lady she is, she’s experienced so much sorrow but yet is doing her husband and father in law proud, good for her..and is that a new civic type R in blue behind johny

Another great barn find. And as always, it's the stories of the people behind the cars that makes these episodes so compelling! Thanks so much for sharing 😊
And you’ve done it again Jonny. Epic connection with Helen and her all too sad but wonderfully told stories. You certainly nodded to the back catalogue of her happy memories and got so close with the car. Loved it. Love this channel so much because of episodes like this. #Doffshat #andonasundayeve
Thank you so much for watching and appreciating the story.
Thank you so much
@@jamescorbett95able James, my heart goes out to you mate, I totally understand your position. We had to sell everything of value (including the cottage in Wales 😥) to sustain life at that time. It's such a shame you can't have both, but needs must. Sending you all the luck with your house build, I'm stuck in the middle of one myself. Make sure contractors don't waste the precious funds from the car. Plan, plan and plan before you spend. It will be amazing :)
@@markscarborough1018 thank you mate. Helen will be my neighbour so it will be nice to be there
Great surroundings 2 icon sports cars , the love for cars shines through. Finally a lovely lady which still treasures her husband s classics,Jonny you re a class act too.Really touching one this is..
Best car show on RUclips!!!! Absolutely love the channel and especially this show specifically. Keep up the outstanding work and it's extremely appreciated sir!!!
Andrew, cheers!
Greetings from the Netherlands
PS: Emelia Hartford just posted a video of a Shelby Daytona 64 'barnfind'! ;) 0:10
An honest car, an honest history and an honest presenter.
Thanks!
BFF means we are always in for a treat. Brillant work again Jonny and Team!
Thank you Jonny and Helen for such an interesting story cars are part of our lives and these shows are the best !
As always, I came for the motors, but that was secondary to Helen’s story telling this time. What a wonderful woman. Thank you!
One of the best you've done - shame you came so close to getting it started. Lovely and brave lady allowing us all into her life for a day but looks like she got very excited :)
So gorgeous seeing Helen willing the car into life. A beautiful testament to her two special gentleman.
The 2000 is still alive. You’ve got to find it Jonny. !!!
We are on the case!
@@TheLateBrakeShow It's MOT only expired in Oct 2020 so it's still driving...and it passed with no advisories!
@@nicholaskeenan211 Probably doesn’t need a MOT now ? Changed hands in 2012. A few things come up if you Google the number plate
What a beautiful lady and a beautiful story. Just goes to show when you see a older car sitting in a garage, in a driveway or driving down the road there could be a awesome story that goes with it.
What a lovely lady, beautiful cars, such a shame she lost her soul mate.
As ever…..just wonderful , Thankyou ….these barn find episodes are so enthralling 👍👌🇮🇲
What an amazing positive women..love her ❤
She is. She deserves all the happiness for the remainder of her days.
What a wonderful episode. We all so wanted to hear that run, but you were right to stop there. With a car that beautiful, clean and clearly cherished it’s a slow and careful approach that is best. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one in that colour combination either. What a beautiful car ❤
Thank you Jonny and Helen and family for sharing this with us.
Another perfect Sunday with another great episode thanks again Johnny ☀️🙏
Cheers v much Ben
What a great story. Great effort of all three of yous to try to that lovely 78 Porsche up and running again. What a lovely woman and a great story teller Helen is. ❤️🙂. Well done again Johnny. 👍
Gives a whole new meaning to Pimp my ride! ❤ the episode!
Watching this on Monday after a rather shitty day, What a heartwarming story told so beautifully by Helen and Jonny. What a beautiful old Porsche. I just love these barn finds and this one is one of the best. Please please can will have a follow up. Pretty Please.
Rest assured we will follow these up. Thank you for enjoying the vid.
TAS 909T was on the rally scene. Glyn Price had/has it.
This is fantastic. Don't suppose you know how we can reach him?
No! It’s a dry sump oil system. Not only does it need to be running, but it needs to get up to temperature because the oil thermostat needs to open. If you’re going to put that much oil in it, you need to drain the old oil crank case and oil reservoir to the right of the engine, add 10 quarts, and then add as needed once up to temperature😳
A clue to you getting spark is the rev counter going up when you’re cranking. If it stayed on zero, there might be an ignition problem. That’s for the future.
I like the owner and the car
Teared up a little when Helen started jumping. What a great story and gorgeous car. Love that color, and its in amazing condition. Was hoping for more on the TR6, but what a great episode!
RS2000 could well be alive. Last MoT was 2000 on around 70,000 miles.
DVLA website also says _"Date of last V5C (logbook) issued - 21 May 2012,"_ so yeah, seems likely it's still in one piece!
The last MOT is showing as expired 2020.
@@tallblokesam possibly classed as historic vehicle so won’t necessarily need MoT now?
Last MOT was a pass in Apr 2019, so hopefully in good nick somewhere. Currently declared SORN so likely in a garage?
Oh wow! We drove past there only a few weeks ago and I said the wife, ‘see that garage, I wonder if there’s any hidden gems in there’.
Brilliant!
Seriously?!
@@TheLateBrakeShow Pretty sure it’s the one. South of Bala, on the road down towards Lake Vyrnwy? Stream behind the house?
Go back and wake up that porsche Jonny come on man
Lovely find Jonny. Euro spec SC in Petrol Blue with cork interior and cloth inlay sport seats.
I hope Helen brings it back up to working condition and either drives it herself or passes it on to her nephew assuming he is a car guy. It deserves to stay in the family with that lineage.
Big shout to James. How many more gems like these are tucked up and out of sight.
Thanks 🙏🏻
What a great watch , so completely brilliant 👏
Helens love for her husband and her passion for these classic cars is a joy to see.
