💯 This man, his message/words needed to be heard a long time ago. The school & mass shootings could be prevented, some people just prefer too scream "They're going to try taking away our right to bare arms", congress has the right and should've banned sales of AR15's and similar guns a long time ago. Citizens don't have a need to own a weapon made for war, it's a desire. That's why we will continue to wonder if we or our loved ones will return from seeing & attending a movie, grocery store, concert, to a mall, school, and church etc..

Cruz had deep seeded problems that should have been addressed long before. The US privatized for profit healthcare system is a failure. Mental health should be addressed as early as possible. Whether a family is rich or poor, if a member of the family is not acting in a rational manner, the parents should be able to address the issue with professional help. Different anomalies present at different times in a person's lifespan which is why schools, grade through graduate levels should have counseling and a psychiatrist who can provide diagnostic oversight and guidance to staff and parents when a problem presents itself. When you allow cuts in education and shut down music, arts, shop and sports programs you are also shutting down outlets of expression and development that kids of all ages need to grow into well rounded humans. Bullying is one of those behaviors that can be and should be addressed immediately BY PROFESSIONALS. There are unfortunately many parents who do not have the emotional tools to deal with these issues effectively. If a parent is a bully or abuser, how can they teach a child to behave otherwise. If a kid calls a classmate a racial slur, is that kid evil??? Kids are not born hating or being bullied, these behaviors are learned. Just pointing out that Cruz's tragic behavior was not about THC, it was about societal neglect. Who benefits from this???

There is no gun violence. Only violent people, and now we are seeing the dawning of vehicular mass murder. Capital punishment is necessary, and should be mandatory, as a deterrent. A major re-establishment of a viable mental health system as a measure of prevention is also required.

This is so heartbreaking. It hurts to hear this story but as a mother, I put myself in these parents’ shoes and it hurts even more. I always pray for my daughter when I drop her off at school, I pray for all our kids to go to school and be safe. May God protect them at all times 🙏🏼
Also, this man has a point. There needs to be change. Mental health needs to be taken more seriously and there needs to be more precautions when it comes to purchasing weapons.

I agree with this poor man ... it's not normal ... none of it is. There's a major red flag when we can arm mentally ill people because some jerk wants to be able to sell an assault weapon to a kid like this. Even though I'm not a parent, this man's experience broke my heart.

I don’t think he was entirely ill mentally. I think he just wants people to think that so he gets a better sentence. Stop calling it an assault weapon. The AR in AR15 doesn’t mean assault rifle. They’re civilian rifles. But people think it’s called that given AR is in the name. It’s also not a military style weapon, again they’re civilian rifles. The military isn’t out here with semi auto kit guns. There’s a difference between a fully auto military M4 and a semi auto AR15 the average man can buy.
I don’t see how the seller of the gun makes them a jerk. I’m unsure how the gun was bought either, he could’ve passed a background check and all that. The gun could’ve been legally bought. That’s not the issue. DISCLAIMER: I’M UNSURE OF THE LEGALITY OF HOW THE GUNS WERE BOUGHT AND IF THEY WERE EVEN HIS.

The system for schools have to change and hope we can get better security for our children. There is a program at my kids high school that my son attends. We have to recognize that a guilty plea is not the same as a confession a confession is admitting that you did something a guilty plea is saying that you did something and now you put your fate into the hands of a jury. This jury will probably kill him and he understood that he chose not to contest whether or not he did this therefore creating a situation that is far more tolerable than a trial would be. He's a monster and the death of your son is inexcusable but at least you don't have to deal with a trial anymore All you have to do is listen to whether or not your son's murderer is killed by the state or imprisoned for the rest of his life which at 23 is a long time.

What he mentioned about how the shooter as many Americans can just go around buying an AR-15 and multiple magazines is a scary thought. Someone responded to a comment of mine here on YT that the first gun they owned was at 12. The shooter in Michigan that happened recently was 15 and his father bought him a gun. Why is it so easy to get a gun in this country? Why does someone under 18, even under the age of 21 be allowed to buy a gun without going through an extensive background check, a mental health check, a criminal check, a drug use check. Everything should be looked at when purchasing a gun.
Personally, I don't think we need guns in the 21st century. Life is different from the 18th and 19th century. Life was different from when the American Revolution, the WWI & II.
And for the shooter to be blaming his use of marijuana to why he became a mass shooter. I have not known a single marijuana user to be extremely violent. People do become violent on other drugs though. The most he could have become was irritable on marijuana use. IF marijuana is to blame, he MUST HAVE had some kind of underlying issue for the marijuana to bring something forward. Did he have some kind of mental disorder prior to using?
