I floss and brush twice a day. I use the WaterPik every other day. I floss twice because I can’t stand the “feel” of stuff between my teeth during the day. But I like your personal practice and will try that. What do you think about flossing with the Platypus flossers for people with braces?

I heard about not rinsing your mouth after brushing, but I have a genuine question, shouldn't we rinse our mouth so that all the food remains that went out using the brush be washed away?

I rinse and follow up with mouthwash. The toothpaste has all the plaque and bacteria mixed in that was just brushed from your teeth. I'm not leaving it in my mouth. Even if you spit the majority out, it's still there if you don't rinse.

  • @MIA_SOOB
    @MIA_SOOB 2 года назад +7

My process may sound long but it's so worth that smooth fresh feeling, everytime. 😛🥰
First, I start off with string or pick flossing between the teeth & the gums. Then, I will dry brush my teeth. After, I will wet brush my teeth with toothpaste (I also brush my tongue, cheeks & the roof of my mouth). Then, I will pull out my waterpik & water floss my gums. Next, I will use my tongue scrapper to clear any build up off of my tongue. Lastly, I will rinse my mouth & gargle my throat area. When rinsing with mouth wash I make sure to swish the mouthwash around the top & bottom surface of my tongue, as well as the roof & sides of my mouth. I apply enough pressure & swish the mouth wash between my teeth & gums.
    - "So Fresh & So Clean" 😁😎

I wasn't taught or encouraged to brush my teeth as a kid and never saw a dentist as a kid, I developed depression and anxiety which also made it difficult to look after my teeth, I turned 21 and needed an emergency extraction and was so embarrassed to let the dentist see my mouth. They took the tooth out but then said "this tooth is decayed, this tooth is decayed, this tooth and this tooth and this tooth" and kinda made me realise that I need to learn to brush my teeth and keep on top of it. I'm now 23 and my teeth still aren't great, I've had 2 more extractions but now I brush with water in the morning, eat breakfast, then brush with toothpaste after 30 minutes. I use mouthwash in the afternoon after work before having dinner, then before bed I tongue scrape, mouthwash, and brush my teeth before going to bed. I've just bought a waterflosser today because I struggle with string floss due to mobility problems, so that will be added to the routine when it arrives. I know it won't get rid of the existing decay but I'm really trying my best to prevent further decay from happening and I feel much better about looking after my teeth.

The unfortunate thing about poor dental hygiene is that the majority of issues can't be reversed. I wish I knew/ was taught more about dental hygiene and understood that things like gum recession are permanent when I was younger.

    1. Water pick flosser with 1/2 water and 1/2 anti plaque/gingivitis mouth wash.
    2. Brush my teeth (and tongue)with anti plaque toothpaste.
    3. While toothpaste is still in my mouth, use a dental pick to clean between teeth and braces.
    4. Floss, I like to floss after brushing to introduce the toothpaste still in my mouth below the gum line.

Wait... we are not supposed to rinse with water after brushing or using mouthwash? So if we don't then we're consuming toothpaste or mouthwash as we are naturally performing swallowing act throughout the day 🧐

You spit most of the toothpaste out without rinsing. The remaining toothpaste on your teeth provides added protection after you brush.

@@areguapiri but then is it okay to swallow spit with bit of toothpaste in it through the day?
Also is it not advisable to use mouthwash after brushing because it rinses the toothpaste off the teeth?

@@neharoxx1 The amount of toothpaste left in the mouth is so little that it is completely harmless if you swallow any. That remaining toothpaste provides added protection after brushing. Mouthwash after brushing is not necessary.

@@areguapiri thankyou so much 🙏🏻 all my life I have been rinsing my mouth with water and mouthwash vigorously right after properly brushing my teeth to remove toothpaste from mouth. I'll keep this in mind now. Thanks for educating me.

Waterpik twice a day. Brush twice a day. Floss last thing at night. I usually rinse off my non-floride tooth paste with waterpik after brushing. I had 5 kids and brushing twice daily and watching their diet and in all of them, they had only a few cavities over the years they were here.

There's no studies that show a clear benefit of flossing vs not flossing though..
Also water piks do NOT remove plaque, that's acquired pellicle/biofilm which requires mechanical removal. All it does is remove debris/food that brushing already does. How does a oral professional not know this?
Water pik is basically spraying water on your dirty car, doesn't really remove the dirt film, only debris. So it's pretty useless if you brush properly. Are you just trying to sell the product for promotion?
