I hadn’t been to the dentist in over 10 years (grew up very poor), I had an incredibly traumatic experience the first and last time I went, and my parents never taught me proper dental hygiene. Funny enough, my parents are under 60 and have full sets of dentures.
I recently had my first quadrant deep cleaned/scaled by a new dentist, and I can’t even explain how good I already feel. I was so scared, but everything has gone amazingly so far. I’m currently buying my first electric toothbrush, waterpick, tons and tons of string floss, I’m going all out!
For anyone who needs to go see their dentist but is too scared, I promise you it is worth it. I PROMISE. That fear quickly melts away once you realize what a service you’re doing for yourself, and how much you’re taking care of yourself. Your body will thank you. ♥️

@Isiah C See, that’s a really good point you make there, too! I had horrific anxiety before about anesthesia, local or otherwise. I’d never had any form of anesthesia before, and I was almost having a panic attack. But once you get past it, everything is so much easier!

🥺I have tartar idk what should I do...

    • @AyeAyeAmanda
      @AyeAyeAmanda 2 года назад +23

@@rubitinkerbell9478 I know going to the dentist seems like a daunting and terrifying task. Like I said, I went once when I was 16 because we were too poor to go, and I never went back until age 25. My plaque and tartar was so bad that it was starting to cause me health problems in my body. Not to scare you into going, but tartar left alone for too long can go further than your mouth; it can cause heart issues, and other problems in the body.
My best advice is to do your research. If you have insurance, ask around and find a dentist you think you can trust. If you don’t have insurance, see if there are assistance programs near you, or a dental school! They typically do cleanings and deep cleanings for free! Research what their facility looks like and visualize yourself there, that helped me a lot, so I wasn’t surprised when I walked into this new scary building.
Once you find a trusted dentist, tell them EVERYTHING. Lay it ALL out on the table. I mean literally everything. Communication is key. How long it’s been since your last visit, how often you brush/floss, and do not be ashamed. They won’t pick fun. My dentist told me she sees more patients like mine every day than she actually sees her bi-annual cleaning patients.
Bring a friend/family member/someone you trust with you if it helps! Hold their hand if you have to, I did when I was 16 and did it again when I was 25. The more you go, the less scary it becomes.
Take your own before and after pictures of you teeth! That helped give me motivation to keep going back.
I promise you’ve got this, I mean it. You’re going to do yourself such a good service. A good trusted dentist doesn’t care how long it’s been, or what shape your teeth are in. They are there to help you be the best you can. If you need some encouragement, I’m always here to help! Take your time, don’t put too much pressure on yourself. You got this, friend. 🥰

For most of my life I was fine just brushing and flossing, then I had some health issues. Afterward I had bone loss and gum recession. (6years ago)
I started doing a similar routine as yours. I was able to stop the bone loss and many areas of my gums have returned close to normal. My dentist was super impressed how clean my teeth were at my last visit, and that the bone loss has been stopped.
My routine is: either water floss or string floss, regular toothbrush, then rotodent toothbrush, then interdental brushes dipped in either mouthwash, or toothpaste. Dipping them makes a very big difference.
It takes time but it is really worth it! 6 years ago I was told it would cost $20,000 or more to restore my bones and gums. 6 years later I go back to a dentist and I didn’t even need a deep cleaning :)
Your videos are full of great info, and entertaining.

    • @Lavenderthyme
      @Lavenderthyme Месяц назад

@@Mr360attack Some of mine have. But not all. It depends on how long you've had the damage, and how extensive the damage is. The most important thing is to stop anymore damage. Something else that helps is to use toothpaste with hydroxyapatite instead of fluoride, and toothpaste with xylitol. Make sure you dip the interdental brush in toothpaste before you clean between each tooth. This is very important to stop infections between teeth.

@@fer10190 i know the question wasn't directed to me but i'm currently doing invisalign! as far as you being worried about how long it takes, i like to think of it this way: you could start invisalign soon (if you're eligible) and have the teeth and smile you want in a *year's time (depending on your quoted treatment time)!
to me, i think that's so much better than worrying and then in the time that you would have been done with your treatment, you would still be unhappy with the smile/teeth you have.
i hope that makes sense lol 😅 but basically don't worry too much about the treatment time, because that time is going to pass regardless! you might as well start something that will make you happier in the future.

@@fer10190 Hi! I know the question wasn't directed to me either but I am also having Invisalign treatment. It's actually been going on for like 3 years now. It might sound long, but it was due to a few months of COVID-19 delays and a lot of "adjustments" (not sure what they call it, and my current one is like my 4th time I think). "Adjustments" basically mean after you complete your first set of Invisalign, the dentist scans your teeth and if he finds that further improvements can be made, they'll arrange it and then boom, a new set of Invisalign to wear. Although these "adjustments" could be a lot (depending on the individual of course), my teeth actually have already started looking much neater than before and almost seemingly flawless at the end of my 2nd set of Invisalign (was about a year or less into the treatment). Not sure if that's how it works in every dental clinic, but my clinic doesn't charge additional fees for it, which is a good thing. So I personally don't mind these "adjustments" since they're basically free of charge.
Hope this information helps! Have you started with Invisalign already?

Dental visits are usually free with insurance? Or are you from somewhere with a Medicaid reimbursement plan (you pay half for visits and the government pays the other). Having been through several tight spots, see if you can get a dental savings plan, if the lowest band of insurance is not in your ballpark. They're usually $13/month with full x rays, cleaning, and consultation coming in at $250-. At $35 dollars a month for a bare bones dental plan in my neck of the woods, you're $100+ short of a regular insurance policy. Especially if you have not gone to the dentist in a while the sooner you go the less it will cost you long term.

I'm so glad you made this video. Here's why, and it's not because it benefits me. I got very lucky, and attended a really great public school in elementary school that taught me all about dental care, right down to the name of each tooth, in the 4th grade, and how to brush, floss, use disclosing tablets once a month, etc. However, as a 50+-year-old woman today, I'm surprised how many adults do NOT ever learn how to take care of their teeth, or why it's important for heart health and general immune health.
I think of all the kids who grow up in neglectful homes, with abusive, addicted, emotionally mature, or ignorant primary caregivers, and pretty much have to raise themselves because no adult is raising them. I think of all the children in foster care, and even those who are homeschooled who never learn these things because it's not part of the "creationist" curriculum.
You may or may not be aware, but you are probably helping a lot of kids and adults alike, who never had a nurturing, caring parent in their home, or were raised by the human equivalent of sharks that didn't care about their own child, much less their child's teeth and overall health.
You're really doing great public service, and your video are friends and accessible. Just wanted to say thank you for being a positive role model and global citizen.

If the tongue scraper loosened particles and dropped it off the scraper, it's in my mouth = no, I'm rinsing it out lol.

    1. String floss.
    2. Water floss twice (meaning 1 water reservoir for the front teeth and chewing surfaces and 1 water reservoir for the back part of the teeth and tongue).
    3. Manually brush the teeth, spit not rinse.
    4. Tongue scraped.
    5. Electric brush, spit not rinse.

I wash my manual toothbrushes in warm water with Dawn dish soap, rinse, and shake/towel dry. I have a fresh, clean toothbrush every time. I also use different toothbrushes and alternate between one "extra" on top of string floss: proxy brush/rubber GUM tool or super floss, which has a nice thick cottony floss that's fantastic in between my crowns and molars. I listen to a podcast for that 15 minutes routine 😊

    mouth wash is unnessecary.
it only gets to spaces, that has been cleaned before anyway and it just has fluoride etc like the tooth paste.
and i dont know how your brushing technique is, using the electric one, but if you only do it, like in the video, you need to have perfect straight teeth like you.
otherwise you wont get all spaces.
with a standard, normal brush, you have more controll.
also many electric brushes are too hard. combined with the high speed, its not really the best solution.
