Hi Dr Greg! Love the videos, really helping me to stay informed and clued up with my personal orthodontic journey. I had my braces fitted a week ago and got bite blocks on two molars on my upper arch. I feel pain in my right molars when putting pressure on it - similar to the pain a cavity brings, but no pain in the other side. Is this normal?

Wow because of this video I've realized the cause of my overbite is the curve of spee.. i always wondered why my lower left incisors kinda curved that way.. my orthodontist kinda repositioned the bracket on my incisor so that it would erupt a little more to straighten that curve of spee

I'm towards the end of my orthodontic treatment...at least I hope. However, the three months that I didn't get to see my ortho....now he says I may need to extend treatment. I was scheduled for a two-year treatment and this month marks my second FULL year of braces. I REALLY don't want to continue with my treatment because I have had enough of braces to last me a lifetime. HOWEVER, I do not want to risk my teeth shifting back to the unaligned mess that they were......so, Doc, will my teeth do that if I decide to not extend my treatment? Keep in mind that I didn't see my ortho for three months....so, I am assuming I still have three more visits left until my actual "two years" are up. -Amanda Thank you for the like.......just got told today by my Ortho only three more months.....which means three more visits yay! My question was answered
Those three months will likely be to finish and set everything into their desired place, let it happen, they surely are trying to do the best they can for your case! I hope it ends up wonderfully how you wanted it to be! Truly. Lol I know the hassles very well.
im getting my braces in 3 weeks i was really nervous when I first found out I was getting braces then I started watching your channel and I wasn't that nervous anymore :)
Can you make a video on crowns and braces. Wondering if the movement of teeth will ruin the crown placement. I need to get some fillings done but dentist said to do crowns instead because is on my molars.
I got braces, where my ortho claimed that my treatment(which was for good smile) could be done by putting wire on upper arch only. 11months into treatment my bite worsened. I had class 1 bite. I didn’t have a deep bite but yes ,My front teeth hit my bottom ones at back somewhere in 3/4th height. Now i have got overbite/deepbite (80% lower incisors covered by upper incisors) only one teeth touch bottom ones. And rest on my lower lips day and night. My face also changed.
I had to get a Herbst put in or the second time. my orthodontist messed up and got glue in my gums, yadayadayada. 6 months later, antibiotics, and a lot of pain later. I have it back in. he didn't apologize at all.
Nice explanation dr. Greg, Im wearing elastics for a month now, trying to fix deepbite, things make more sense now. Btw, in the recent times, a thing called Mewing is becoming more and more popular on the internet, basically it is a theory by which a tounge posture can affect the development of the teeth and overall facial structure. The problem with it is, most people who are talking about such thing are just common everyday folk. So I was wondering if a professional such as you, can give his thoughts about that practice..
I've been told I had an overbite by many orthodontist my whole life then I finally went to see a surgeon and they corrected me and explained I actually had an over jet. I wonder why I was told the wrong thing my whole life...
hello dr, if the overbite is caused by the lower jaw which is smaller and positioned too far back compared to the upper jaw can it also caused overbite?and can braces fix it?thank you
hey dr. greg! i had a question, my jaw cracks everytime i open it up to full expansion or even sometimes when im eating like biting into food. It started with the left side then both sides were cracking but now only my right side "cracks". Im getting braces thursday and i've looked it up and they say that maybe its bc my teeth are misaligned, do you know anything about this, thanks!
I went to my orthodontist 3 days ago to get my elastics to fix my crossbite. I always thought I had an overbite but I don't. My brother has an underbite I think
I had my braces 7 months ago.and i had overbite and uneven teeth. Bt now my orthodontist said that my teeths ar now fine and i can remove my braces. but I'm NOT happy about my result.i still have overbite. What can i do? Please help
I have bite turbos, the orthodontist called them bite ramps, on my Invisalign. I knew they were for overbite correction but I never understood how they work just that my top stopping feeling sore within a couple of hours of getting them.
You mentioned how to correct a deep bite caused by the BOTTOM teeth coming up too far, and briefly mentioned that the top teeth overextruding (or whatever it's called) can cause a deep bite, but how do you correct that exactly? When it's the top teeth that are the problem? That's my issue because I have the gummy smile you mentioned.
omg same for one side my jaw is clicking when I bite and I was like that’s weird but now I know. I’m getting braces in a month hopefully that will fix it.
I am not sure how much braces are in USA?, but in England they are very very expensive and not affordable for most adults. It is a shame because teeth are important and can make such a difference to your health. It starts in the thousands in England and can be beyond many peoples' salaries. It would be so good, if there could be cheaper orthodontic dentists. So many people would love their teeth straight, etc but it is beyond the means for most.. a nice smile gives people so much confidence!.
I am almost 60 and I developed an extreme overbite and overjet a couple of years ago after getting diabetes. I don't know if my back teeth got shorter but I do know trying to sleep facedown so I could breathe has let my bottom teeth push my top front teeth out like crazy. So, I was wondering if what you suggested in the video like letting the back teeth erupt more is better for growing people or applies equally to old people who always had perfectly straight teeth without braces for the first 55 years of their life. Thanks.
I had bite turbos a the beginning of my braces but they had to put cement at my molars because I would clench my teeth at night because had that irritates at my jaw
Great video! Is it safe for orthodontist to use bands for overbite on teeth that have restorative work ? I’m a little worried to start elastics next week. The last bracket is on an upper bridge (the first crown) and I believe the elastic will be hooked on that tooth that bridged (upper) to lower tooth that has a root canal & crown. It’s a lot I know! How worried should I be?
I have been on braces for more than a year now, we found out later that I have allergy to elastics so it'll definitely wont work. My ortho recommends to extract 3 teeth, 2 upper, 1 below. I'm not sure if I need to push it thru or just accept the changes been made on my overbite. So far so much has change but my front teeth still protrudes. Any thoughts?
@@adarijohnson if you dont have any other commitments soon, you should go with what ur dentist said. My dentist said that it could take a while before the teeth adjust. Maybe 3-4 months, it will hurt, you will have difficulty in eating and talking buuuttt all of it will be worth it. I actually was waiting for an employment opportunity before but this year I confirmed that I cannot go through so I did not push through with it at first.
-Amanda
Thank you for the like.......just got told today by my Ortho only three more months.....which means three more visits yay! My question was answered
Amanda Altman still a bummer tho ? Didn’t see mine for 4 months so I’ll be suffering a setback as well 😞
@@msheartface5288 yup...still a bummer
Those three months will likely be to finish and set everything into their desired place, let it happen, they surely are trying to do the best they can for your case! I hope it ends up wonderfully how you wanted it to be! Truly. Lol I know the hassles very well.
im getting my braces in 3 weeks i was really nervous when I first found out I was getting braces then I started watching your channel and I wasn't that nervous anymore :)
My son has deepbite. I will tag him with this video. ❤
Please do! Hope it helps him out =]
@@DrGregAsatrian thank you Doc. He is in his fourth month having braces treating his deep overbite. He misses eating corn on cob tho. 😂
I’m getting braces on the 19th..btw love your channel I’ve been watching it for months
Can you make a video on crowns and braces. Wondering if the movement of teeth will ruin the crown placement. I need to get some fillings done but dentist said to do crowns instead because is on my molars.
Im glad I found your channel sir!
I love this one. I want that you would tell about splints in upcoming videos.
I wonder why I was told the wrong thing my whole life...
hey...can we use braces or headgears if we have caps or fillings?does it matter?
In most cases you’re good to go - depends on your case, of course!
@@DrGregAsatrian if there is 1 cap in molars and a filling in feont teeth?
Can you please talk about frenectomy in preventing teeth gaps?
Love your videos! Will you do one about Class 3/underbite?
I did one on underbites ! Check it out =]
Much needed vid 👐✌️
hello dr, if the overbite is caused by the lower jaw which is smaller and positioned too far back compared to the upper jaw can it also caused overbite?and can braces fix it?thank you
hey dr. greg! i had a question, my jaw cracks everytime i open it up to full expansion or even sometimes when im eating like biting into food. It started with the left side then both sides were cracking but now only my right side "cracks". Im getting braces thursday and i've looked it up and they say that maybe its bc my teeth are misaligned, do you know anything about this, thanks!
Same here.
I hope dr greg will share his knowledge about this
I think it’s just crowding I think I have heard that before
I went to my orthodontist 3 days ago to get my elastics to fix my crossbite. I always thought I had an overbite but I don't. My brother has an underbite I think
Interesting! Great that you're having your crossbite fixed!
You talk about overbite and everything else but I’ve never seen you talking about openbite. Is it that rare?
I had my braces 7 months ago.and i had overbite and uneven teeth. Bt now my orthodontist said that my teeths ar now fine and i can remove my braces. but I'm NOT happy about my result.i still have overbite. What can i do? Please help
You need to let your ortho know and get a second opinion if possible
I have bite turbos, the orthodontist called them bite ramps, on my Invisalign. I knew they were for overbite correction but I never understood how they work just that my top stopping feeling sore within a couple of hours of getting them.
Hey doctor Greg, could you please do a video on outside bites or cross bites..
Love your videos😊😊
braces club is awesome 💯
Yeeeyuh! I will definitely =]
Thank you so much!! This video helped me a lot!😊 That's why my jaw is clicking on the left side. Now I know I have an overbite. Super 😅
omg same for one side my jaw is clicking when I bite and I was like that’s weird but now I know. I’m getting braces in a month hopefully that will fix it.
Have you done a video for braces for adults? I'm 38 and I have extreme crowded and over jet teeth...and I am hopefully getting braces soon
I wish I had teeth like you do. They are pretty. Whenever I go to a new dentist I pay attention on their teeth . :)
Please send a video for correction of upper and lower Anterior croweding
My orthodontist used miniscrews to treat my gummy smile and overbite!!!
jazakAllahu khaira
Thanks
Plz talk about other malocclusions too....
What did u end up doing .. my ortho is saying the same but only extracting 2 molars( if I decide to go thru w it) I’ve had braces for 3 months now
@@adarijohnson if you dont have any other commitments soon, you should go with what ur dentist said.
I'm planning to talk with her now that I'm not going elsewhere.
@@jiyujinsano7917 she didn’t rlly mention any other commitments yet she said she’ll talk about it w my mom next time .
But yesterday when I went ( I have an overbite so my top teeth cover my bottom & it’s not aligned n stuff )
They put sum type of glue on the roof of my mouth to prevent my top from covering my bottom
And it feels weird & it’s already hard to it bc it’s not the way my teeth naturally fall. & my tongue is crowded 😭
But thank u for ur advice . I think I’ll get them removed & my teeth should have adjusted by the time school starts 😣
@@adarijohnson i was thinking that too, sooner you get them removed, sooner it will adjust. Just the time before school starts. Goodluck to us!!
Could you make a video about the asymmetrical jaw and how can't be fixed?
Sorry how can be fixed😅
I get bad headaches, sharp pain goes thru the jaw. Top teeth hurt all the time. Wish I could get them fixed.
thank you sm this is so helpful !!!
Do you think you can talk a bit about jaw surgery for underbites? I’m getting braces put in soon to start the process of correcting it
Love your content! Any videos on open bites?
