    Stopping the Recession: This is the first priority. Good oral hygiene, including brushing and flossing properly, can significantly help. Your dentist can also recommend techniques and tools for better cleaning.
    Gum Grafting: This surgical procedure involves taking healthy gum tissue from another area of your mouth or sometimes even a tissue bank, and transplanting it to the receded area. This can cover exposed tooth roots and improve gum health.
    Regeneration Techniques: Some procedures aim to stimulate your body's natural ability to regenerate gum tissue. This might involve using membranes or tissue-stimulating proteins to encourage new tissue growth.
    If you're concerned about receding gums, it's important to see a dentist or periodontist (a gum specialist) for a proper diagnosis and treatment plan. Early intervention can make a big difference in preventing further gum loss and protecting your oral health.
    While the notion of simply regrowing gums after gum recession might seem like a dream, there's no need to despair. While true gum regrowth isn't currently possible, advancements in dental treatments offer a ray of hope. By addressing the underlying cause of gum recession, whether it's aggressive brushing or gum disease, we can stop the tide of receding gums. Furthermore, procedures like gum grafting can meticulously reconstruct the gum line, effectively covering exposed tooth roots. While these techniques can't magically make gums regrow, they can significantly improve both the health and aesthetics of your smile.

    • @EvolveDentalHealing

      Coffee is acidic and dehydrates you so that will impact the mouth directly. Caffeine intake spikes cortisol levels which weakens the immune response and ability to repair. Can strip you of minerals too.

    Hello Dr. Rachel,
    I am so very grateful that my quest for healing my gums brought me to you in this video.
    For the past year I have been "all worked out" by my dentist and 4 months ago, she told me that she was going to pass my case to the periodontist in their dental office.
    I have all my teeth but I do have some gum recession, although no bleeding and no sensitivity.
    Since I am 69 years old and live from my retirement pension I, of course, count and measure every penny that is asked from me.
    So, I told my dentist that I could not afford the treatment and said goodbye.
    Since then, I have been researching this issue of the receding gums and I have trashed the tooth paste and the mouth wash and the toothbrush that I had and got an electric toothbrush with medium head and I brush my teeth with a mix that I do with coconut oil and pulverized cloves.
    I do the oil pulling at night and then I wash it with salted water and then I swish with half a teaspoon of pure Xilitol.
    My gums are looking prettier and my teeth feel smoother after one month doing this.
    Please excuse me for this very long comment, but I would appreciate your thoughts and suggestions about my "method".
    Thank you very much in advance and best regards!

      Secondly it does not address diet and other factors that support with gum health so if you are not eating correctly then the program can't compensate for that.

    Can you comment on hypothyroidism and gum disease. Thanks.

    • @EvolveDentalHealing
      @EvolveDentalHealing  Месяц назад +2

      There's a connection between hypothyroidism, an underactive thyroid gland, and gum disease.
      Hypothyroidism: When the thyroid doesn't produce enough hormones, it affects many bodily functions.
      Gum disease: Inflammation of the gums that damages supporting tissues and bone, potentially leading to tooth loss.
      How Hypothyroidism Affects Gums:
      Immune system: Hypothyroidism can weaken your body's defence against gum disease-causing bacteria.
      Healing: Slower healing from mouth sores in people with hypothyroidism can worsen gum disease.
      Dry mouth: Hypothyroidism can cause dry mouth, increasing the risk of cavities and gum disease due to reduced saliva washing away bacteria.
      Having hypothyroidism doesn't guarantee gum disease, but it's a risk factor.

      I think I cover that in other videos on recession or TMJ/teeth clenching.
      But essentially if you clench or grind your teeth at night you are pushing forces on the tooth and bone that swings the tooth around in the jaw bone. This causes bone loss and gum recession and worsens any active gum disease.

      No mercury or lead in metal crowns but they may be sitting on top of amalgam fillings which are a mixture of sliver, mercury and other metals you can find out more at iaomt.org

    Dr Rachel, at time stamp 5.53 you mentioned about bone regenerations proteins and laser treatment that can be put into those spaces.. I have 2 root canals teeth that are joined together for maybe 30 years (with some metals in there). I am planning to have them replaced with 2 individual ceramic crowns . What are ways can I have the bone regenerations in there to make the teeth more stable ? I had mentioned lanap lapip laser with my dentist but he said it will not work bc I do not have any tooth beside the 2 teeth and lanap lapip will not work to regenerate more bone density. What laser treatment and bone regeneration proteins were you referring to at time stamp 5:53 ? Thank you.

      Try to find a more functional periodontist by calling those type of Dentists and ask who they use or maybe there is a Perio finder to use. Google bone grafting and read about the 4 different types. They use grafts for securing the tooth implants to replace teeth, but if you are sensitive, it may be a risk for reactions. I had the cadaver with chemical cleansing and my own blood used to make healing faster. I was getting somewhat better after supplementation for what I now assume was mineral & vitamin deficiencies due to the heavy metals. I had something similar to "thyroid storm" with a severe reaction. The periodontist had to reopen the graft area and scrape it out as best he could & then I was better immediately. There is cadaver with chemical; cadaver with radiation, synthetic, and one more I forget, lol. Look it up online. They probably use grafting for the question you ask. There is something called an OSR Miner sheet that says what the material is.

      yes I have - look it's not huge amounts by all means and I wonder if its because the gums are thicker and fill more space rather than vertical reattachment. My own gums are certainly more robust since trying this for myself.

      I have reduced the size of my gum pockets (even reversed some 5s) by using a WaterPik with grapefruit seed extract (10 drops per 20 oz tank). I trace each gum with the PikPocket attachment. It takes about 5 minutes.

      you will find it hard to have enough B12 - Vitamin B12 helps to form red blood cells, which carry oxygen to the tissues in your mouth. It also helps to break down homocysteine, an amino acid that can damage tooth enamel. A lack of Vitamin B12 can lead to bad breath, mouth ulcers, and the detachment of the connective tissues supporting your teeth.
      Toothbrushes: if you want a electric one I like Philips Sonicare and combine that with a manual brush with a medium stiffness to massage the gums

    Will deep cleaning make teeth. Fall of

    • @EvolveDentalHealing
      @EvolveDentalHealing  Месяц назад +2

      a deep cleaning is required to remove the bacterial build-up and reduce inflammation so that the active disease process can be halted. Without it, you will lose more bone and gum support for your teeth and that will lead to tooth loss. Plus all that infection in your gums spreads around your body via the bloodstream increasing the risk for heart disease, dementia, stroke, and cancers.

    • @EvolveDentalHealing
      @EvolveDentalHealing  Месяц назад +1

      The oral-systemic link refers to the two-way relationship between your oral health and your overall health. In essence, your mouth isn't isolated from the rest of your body.
      Here's how it works:
      Mouth as a breeding ground: Your mouth is naturally home to a wide range of bacteria, both beneficial and harmful. When you don't practice good oral hygiene, the harmful bacteria can multiply. This can lead to oral health problems like gum disease and cavities.
      Impact on overall health: If left unchecked, these oral health issues can then trigger problems in other parts of your body. There are two main theories for how this happens:
      Inflammation: Chronic inflammation in the gums from gum disease can release inflammatory markers into the bloodstream. This can contribute to inflammation throughout the body, which is linked to various health conditions like heart disease and diabetes.
      Bacteria entering bloodstream: Oral bacteria can enter the bloodstream through areas of inflamed gums or through invasive dental procedures. Once in the bloodstream, these bacteria can travel to other parts of the body and potentially contribute to various health problems.
      Conditions affected by oral health:
      Heart disease
      Diabetes
      Stroke
      Pregnancy complications
      Dementia
      Arthritis

      Deep cleaning of the gums, also known as scaling and root planing, is a dental procedure that tackles built-up plaque and tartar below the gum line. Regular brushing and flossing can't reach these areas. Here's how deep cleaning benefits your gums:
      Combats gum disease: By removing plaque and tartar harboring harmful bacteria, deep cleaning helps fight gingivitis (inflamed gums) and periodontitis (severe gum disease). This prevents further gum damage and potential tooth loss.
      Promotes gum healing: Once the irritants are gone, your gums can start healing and reattaching to your teeth. This reduces gum pockets, which are spaces between the teeth and gums where bacteria can easily accumulate.
      Fresher breath: Plaque and tartar buildup contribute to bad breath. Deep cleaning removes these culprits, leaving your breath fresher.
      Improves overall health: Studies suggest a link between gum disease and various health problems. Deep cleaning by promoting gum health may indirectly contribute to better overall health.

    • @EvolveDentalHealing
      @EvolveDentalHealing  Месяц назад

      No, a deep cleaning of your teeth (scaling and root planing) actually helps prevent teeth from falling out. Here's why:
      Deep cleaning removes the culprit: Gum disease, if left untreated, is the main reason teeth become loose and fall out. Deep cleaning removes the plaque and tartar buildup that irritate and inflame the gums.
      False sense of stability: Sometimes, heavy tartar buildup can act like a splint, holding loose teeth in place. Once removed during deep cleaning, the teeth might feel looser, but this is because the underlying bone loss is no longer masked by the tartar.
      Promotes healing and reattachment: Deep cleaning allows your gums to heal and potentially reattach to the teeth, providing better support and preventing future loosening.
      So, while you might experience some temporary sensitivity or a feeling of looseness after deep cleaning, it's a positive sign. It means the dentist is removing harmful bacteria and creating an environment for your gums to heal and strengthen your teeth support.
