Coffee is acidic and dehydrates you so that will impact the mouth directly. Caffeine intake spikes cortisol levels which weakens the immune response and ability to repair. Can strip you of minerals too.
@EvolveDentalHealing yes I recently read In healing gums naturally that it can strip me of minerals. I have suffered with severe misaligned jaw bones and jaw clenching clenching for 12 years. 7 years no night guard, and it's all coming down on me. As a Tmj sufferer, it's recommended you don't do caffeine. I cut down to it not being a daily habit. However, based on your reply, I'm ready to give it up. Thank you so much for your reply it means alot!
IKR. i want to get a new dentist that will be honest with me. An honest dentist is very rare though, so im thankful to this woman and dr ellie phillips.
Hello Dr. Rachel, I am so very grateful that my quest for healing my gums brought me to you in this video. For the past year I have been "all worked out" by my dentist and 4 months ago, she told me that she was going to pass my case to the periodontist in their dental office. I have all my teeth but I do have some gum recession, although no bleeding and no sensitivity. Since I am 69 years old and live from my retirement pension I, of course, count and measure every penny that is asked from me. So, I told my dentist that I could not afford the treatment and said goodbye. Since then, I have been researching this issue of the receding gums and I have trashed the tooth paste and the mouth wash and the toothbrush that I had and got an electric toothbrush with medium head and I brush my teeth with a mix that I do with coconut oil and pulverized cloves. I do the oil pulling at night and then I wash it with salted water and then I swish with half a teaspoon of pure Xilitol. My gums are looking prettier and my teeth feel smoother after one month doing this. Please excuse me for this very long comment, but I would appreciate your thoughts and suggestions about my "method". Thank you very much in advance and best regards!
I am 50 and from Eastern Europe. We were shown in both nursery and primary school how to brush properly and brushing the gums was always part of the routine. Not as much for cleaning it but to masage it. The fascia has to be stimulated. It is a mucous membrane after all and a lot of nutrients absorb through it being in the first section of our digestive tract.
Goodness I wish you were my dentist in fact I wish you had been my dentist 20 years ago. Heck as like you really know your stuff. You have given me hope where there was none. Many Many thanks
I took your advice from a couple years ago and clean teeth every 12 hours. Also, I started using cotton balls instead of a brush. Thymol (cumin) in mouthwash and also, ( add a dropper full of oregano oil to the container) It is very effective. L-Lysine powder from a capsule, mix it in a little water, can tighten the gums over time. No more recession, no pockets, and what helps too, avoid cane sugar. You know, when you can rub your teeth with some saturated cotten balls, you'll clean all the plaque off the teeth.
@@ef5842 so you make an mouth wash of the L-lysine and water? How? And how often/long should we use it? Thank you for this tip and sharing your experience ❣️
Thank you Dr. Rachael for giving me hope when all I hear from my hygienist is that my gum tissue won’t grow back. Your video is very helpful and right to the point. Blessings 🤗
My gums were helped by taking high amounts of Vitamin C, Vitamin D and CoQ10. I'm not recommending anyone take high doses of anything but its encouraging to know that supplements help and I'm sure its especially so if you are low in anything. I've been taking most of the other things mentioned but will add xylitol. Also I may try brushing a just a little bit harder and see how that goes, thanks.
My vitamin D levels got low and I was tired and depressed , I started getting cavities. I had a blood test and found out my low D levels were causing all this.
Unfortunately, I have been grinding my teeth since 2020. I had beautiful teeth and gums before I started grinding my teeth. Now my teeth are chipped in the front and I have receeding gums. Very discouraged. Thank you for the video. I also oil pull and feel much better wheb I do. I must say I'm very impressed that you give natural options. I'm also very impressed that you reply to almost everyone's comments. Thank you for your work and dedication!
Have you got a nightguard for your bruxism? Have you been screened for sleep apnoea as this could be why you are grinding your teeth? And thank you for your kind words and being part of the channel
I don't have a night guard currently. I tried a few that were uncomfortable. Do you have any suggestions? I have not been screened. I did not realize that could be apart of the grinding. It is so frustrating because I don't even know I'm doing it. Thanks for your fast, kind reply! ❤
Try taping your mouth shut when you sleep at night. Even if you have a nightguard. This resolved my teeth grinding and I could proceed with the treatment in this video. Don't get an exspensive tape. Nexcare waterproof tape is sufficient. You think it would be uncomfortable to tape your mouth but it isn't. And I've never slept better.
Hi mam. Please help me I am in pain....upper molar and impacted wisdom teeth extracted....after that I had my upper and down front tooths are sensitive..and also had little headache and neck pain. And also I had bridge tooth which I am not at all comfurtable with this made me going to dipression and I went back doc and removed the bridge now that supporting teeths are little pain and sensitive. Is it must to put cap back .....are is it going to recover on it's own..... please help me....
I started to brush my gums only, massage them & i have no bleeding & my gums are better. But i seem to clench my jaw, teeth which isnt good so im starting meditation & practices to let go & destress. Thanks for reminder to ditch sugar & take xylitol mints & ditch tooth paste & do oil pulling. I start these & then forget!! Dentists are not holistic, they use invasive therapies ...in Canada we dont. Have many holistic dentists if any. Thank you so much!
Thank you! I have no listened yet, but I will when I get some free time. I'm 59, postmenopausal and have had receding gums for about 12 years now. What's my dentist and hygienist say? NOTHING! I was sold an electric toothbrush. I was not told the dangers of receding gums. I had scaling done as well. I am not financially well off and the cost of seeing a dentist when you have no insurance should be a CRIME! I can't afford to go anymore and looking for holistic methods. God/Universe Bless you!!
Informative video, thank you. Always make the video as long as it needs to be to give a fuller message and ignore the ignorant RUclipsrs that want messages as short as possible. Keep up your helpful work.
Dr Rachel totally believe everything you are saying..... It makes sense.... I'm definitely going to switch my toothbrush to a medium one. Thank you so much for this video 🙏❤️💯
Great points but in my professional experience thin biotype is linked to narrow arches and that’s linked to not using your jaws enough , I agree you can stimulate bone and gum growth but it should come from chewing actual food or gum not harder bristles on a toothbrush. Evolutionary the was no toothbrushes but the chewed their food.
Thank you so much for your clarity and advice. I have some 9-11mm pockets, and my oral care and the hygienist deep cleaning (inc GBT) is not clearing the deeper infection in the pockets especially at the top front where I have 65% bone loss. My dentist wants to remove 11 teeth (inc 3 wisdom teeth, the top front teeth and some of the lower teeth) in order to "turn the tap off" on the infection and trying to save the other teeth I have left. I know that there are spirochetes and entamoeba in the gums from a sample taken by the biological dentist. I am feeling quite depressed by it all. I am following your advice with the gum brushing, doing oil pulling, salt water rinsing, interdental brushes, trying to get the bristles up the gums to clean with natural toothpastes and powders. I am wondering how I can clear the infection as much as possible from deep in the pockets without taking antibiotics..... Another dentist suggested periochips which dissolve in the gums- do you think there is a case for this in severe gum disease such as mine? And do you think I should agree to the extractions? He will then use a laser to clean and then try to regenerate bone and gum, to place hopefully 100% zirconia implants. Thanks for any advice or suggestions.
So it can come back? Mines started to regress because I was trying to clean my teeth better but I used an electric toothbrush. My dentist said the recession is not too bad but the damage is irreversible. I feel so bad that I could permanently damage myself this way by accident. Thank you for giving me hope that it can heal in the early stages.
@@petercucumber4380 That‘s because it is not a chemical. It is a sugar alternative produced from a special kind of tree resin. You should be able to find it in a supermarket (probably one that focuses on organic products).
Thank you for this video, it’s so helpful. I’m going to try your suggestions. Do you have any toothpaste and manual toothbrush recommendations available in Australia? Also, any alternative ideas to xylitol if you don’t tolerate sugar alcohols, they cause me gut issues. Thanks 😃
If you create a healthy environment for you gums to grow. How soon do you notice the gums growing? Also how long do you have ot massage your gums with the toothbrush? Thanks.
Did you say there are links attached to review! It’s lots of info for me to absorb but reading will help me a lot. I was in a bad car wreck almost a year ago and the long road to recovery didn’t allow much time for dental even tho I could finally brush my teeth in bed. That was a trick. My night guards don’t fit any longer so after a $1000+ cost and we weren’t done entirely with fitting adjustments. I can see where my gums have receded and sometimes a bad taste in my mouth I feel like is coming from my gums. Getting teeth cleaned in December and then will contact TMJ dentist to see if we can work on getting back into my night guards. It is awful that Medicare doesn’t pay for TMJ issues as far as I know. Such a shame since dental disease is very serious and I’ve heard it’s not good for your heart and bloodstream from bacteria issues. I hope the links are here!
I'm trialing it for myself and I can see my gums have gotten thicker. They were tender at first as I think I went too enthusiastically with the medium brush before my gums had a chance to get used to it and respond.
@EvolveDentalHealing yes I started with an oral b electrical toothbrush and it made my gums sore all week. And my bottom quadrant is at serious risk. Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure I need some kind of bone regeneration to save the future of those teeth. The area is heavily receded and so very painful from the exposure they now have. I'm still doing all the things you and other dentists advise in the meantime. Still waiting my deep clean but I live in a rural area and it still a lil wait.
@@miriahherzog8326 I use green tea as a mouthwash it really helps to stop pain from gum recession and teeth pain for me. I make a mug and use it through out the day as a swish. I don't swallow green tea because it gives me stomach ache.
Thank you for your info. I was recommended to use Aloe vera gel/xylitol mix and swish around mouth for a few minutes twice a day and once a day do a sea salt water mix rinse, would you say these methods are okay in helping receding gums?
they are good for healing gums and as antibacterial but to improve gum thickness and possible regrowth you need to be massaging the gums with a toothbrush as explained in the video.
I have some issues popping up (some gum recession and inflammation at the back of my mouth as well as some minor cavities) so I have been upgrading my cleaning regimen. I saw that xylitol is often recommended by I also saw some recent studies that seem to indicate it can cause heart issues so I am a bit concerned and don't want to have too much of it. Should I be concerned and/or what would be the best alternatives? I also would like to have a more detailed indication of what to do 1st, 2nd, 3rd. Should I do oil pulling first or last? How many times a day? How about a sonic toothbrush?
Hello Doctor, I am 27 year old, a couple of days back I did my routine cleaning and my dentist said I am suffering from gingivitis, I have been panicking a lot since then… since I can see some gum recession… what would you suggest me to do? Please let me know…
Keep your mouth clean with good brushing and oral hygiene. Look at vitamin C to help boost gum health, also zinc is very useful. Gingivitis can be reversed.
Hi! Can you explain how you did this please? You make a powder? How long did you leave it on and how many times a day and for how long until they grew back!?
Not really it’s good for reducing bacteria and risk of decay but not for reducing recession Gum disease must be treated and then xylitol with your oral microbiome
One 2017 study found that women receiving hormone therapy (containing estrogen) were 44 per cent less likely to experience severe gum disease (periodontitis) than women in the non-treatment group. Whether HRT is right for you or not is to be discussed with your physician but yes menopause is a time when we see acceleration of gum disease in female patients
Wonderful video. I have mild recession on one tooth (from an injury). Other than that, my gums are healthy per my dentist. If you have time, I’d love your expertise: -How often should I oil pull? -Is mouthwash daily bad in addition to oil pulling? -Can massing the recessed area “back up” gently with my finger help some? Or is there a better way to massage in addition to using a medium toothbrush?
oil pulling and mouthwash are interchangeable you do not need to do both. Once or twice a day is sufficient. I don't think using your finger offers enough stimulation to the gum
I have searched and searched for hypoxyappitate toothpaste, but got overwhelmed by confusion as to whether nano was best or not, along with price concerns with postage to Australia. Any suggestions , @EvolveDentalHealing ?
I live in Australia as well in which one of the American dentist I have listened to states Nano is better due to the absorptions which is really for anything we consume. It is difficult to get the nano toothpaste as American dollars conversion. Website," house of mouth" they may sell it plus they sell xylitol gum etc. Moo Goo non fluoride toothpaste has 5% hydroxyapatite. I dont know how much the teeth need of hydroxyapatite, maybe 20%? Mouth needs minerals as well so I use fulvic and humic minerals. Put this in my water and also put a few drops in my mouth swish around and then brush my teeth. I have been opening a capsule of probiotics specifically for gums and teeth swishing probiotic with a tad of water around my mouth after brushing. I am using biotene mouthwash and use that after each meal due to the pH and xylitol.
There's a connection between hypothyroidism, an underactive thyroid gland, and gum disease. Hypothyroidism: When the thyroid doesn't produce enough hormones, it affects many bodily functions. Gum disease: Inflammation of the gums that damages supporting tissues and bone, potentially leading to tooth loss. How Hypothyroidism Affects Gums: Immune system: Hypothyroidism can weaken your body's defence against gum disease-causing bacteria. Healing: Slower healing from mouth sores in people with hypothyroidism can worsen gum disease. Dry mouth: Hypothyroidism can cause dry mouth, increasing the risk of cavities and gum disease due to reduced saliva washing away bacteria. Having hypothyroidism doesn't guarantee gum disease, but it's a risk factor.
I’m so mad at myself . I let myself be talked into pulling four of my bottom front teeth because they said it had less than 50% root left and the only thing keeping the teeth in were the gums . Now I’m using a retainer with the four fake teeth while I wait for time to pass before getting my impressions for a partial denture . I want to cry because I could have tried to regrow my gums and tighten them around my teeth . I don’t even actually care if two of them were slightly wiggly as I could always use my side and back teeth to eat . I’m so angry , how do I cope with my emotions? I will not be getting implants for various reasons although I know it’s the best solution .

I use an Oral B IO tooth brush and I love it unfortunately im allergic to xylitol it affects my ibs and I am getting five teeth pulled on Tuesday. I also have a rare skin condition that affects the inside of my mouth so im now facing brushing with flouride toothpaste that's prescribed to me. At the age of 54 im facing losing my teeth.
I am so sorry to read this. How are you doing after the procedure? Are you able to learn or you have learnt what the bacteria on skin etc is creating the condition on your skin? To then get correct treatment if that being probiotics specifically for skin and oral health. Menopause can create gum recession as I have spoken with menopause Australia and a different integrated GP both saying this plus autoimmune disease can cause gum recession also. I have very bad gum recession no matter how hygenic I am with my mouth and all the research I do. Maybe look into getting tested for hormones.
Hello, what do you think about including grape seed extract and French maritime pine bark extract (pycnogenol) in your routine? I heard that they stimulate microcirculation and are helpful in periodontitis and gum recession. Could ginko biloba replace them to increase microcirculation?
Hi Dr. I have had 2 gum grafts. One at 30 & another at 40 y/o. I go to the dentist every 4 mins, floss, water floss, proxy brush during the day. I still have a lot of recession & bone loss- straight teeth & no cavities. Wear a special night guard too. It's a bummer. My dentist suggested lanap surgery this week. What are your thoughts? I was looking into red light devices for the mouth to see if they help regenerate gums. Idk if you know about this
im similar to you im going to get a red light mouth guard and try it too. ive also just switched to strict carnivore diet 2 moths ago. Apparently this will fix all these issues to
@@mattman3106 I heard the red light will not regenerate any bone or gum loss. What did you hear or read? There are also no worthy red light mouth devices. I researched. What did you find?
I’m 4 months into a Periogel for 15 min every night to help my gums. They have receeded greatly and a fair amount of bone loss. My dentist has recommended this routine to help prevent me needing teeth implants. Any way to regrow gums?
Chlorhexidine 0.5% for proven chemical control of bacteria CITROX® & Polylysine for additional long-term protection against bacteria and viruses Hyaluronic Acid (HA) to accelerate regeneration Xylitol for a pleasant taste, to protect against caries and ensure strong teeth PVP-VA for a highly effective protective film over the teeth, gums and mucosa. This is in Perio plus products. If u don't want chlorhexidine maybe to research the other ingredients. I do know research is there for benefits of all other products. I can personally say perio plus works for me, but I was told not to take it all the time. I think this is due to the chlorhexidine staining teeth. I use it on my teeth brushes cleaning between teeth and gee it helps. Also, I use a probiotic specifically for gums and teeth. One strain is L- Reuteri, this is also a proven strain. I have bad gum recession. Autoimmune diseases, systemic issues can create gum recession plus menopause. Green tea is another for gum health. Hope this helps
@EvolveDentalHealing Hi there, thanks for this informative video. Have you seen some improvement with gum massage for gum recession? I have been doing twice daily gum massage, but wondering how long it would take to notice improvement? (I have some mild recession from orthodontics and aggressive brushing - I have adjusted my brushing habits - is improvement with massage possible as gum is completley healthy?) Would adding hyaluronic acid gum gel to gum massage routine potentially aid some regeneration too? Many thanks
Good evening, when you say Eucalyptus oil, are you referring to "essential oil ” ? If yes, which one can be use for as there are many different one like, Ecalyptus radiata, globulus and so on? Last question, can we mix one drop in coconot oil for oil pulling? As for rincing mouth i use cloves, 10 gloves that i let soak in water and i use it for rincing my mouth after brushing my teeth, and month ago i’ve started massaging too. I have receding gums too. Thank you for the video. From france.
Yes, correct I am referring to essential oil. Here are some things to consider when choosing a eucalyptus oil for your gums: Purity: Look for pure, 100% eucalyptus oil. Avoid products that contain fillers, additives, or other essential oils. Type of eucalyptus: There are many different types of eucalyptus trees, and each produces a slightly different oil. Some of the most common types used in oral care include Eucalyptus globulus, Eucalyptus radiata, and Eucalyptus dives. Concentration: Eucalyptus oil can be irritating to the skin and mucous membranes in high concentrations. It is important to dilute it properly before applying it to your gums. A general rule of thumb is to use no more than 1 drop of eucalyptus oil per teaspoon of carrier oil (such as coconut oil or olive oil).
Here are some of the benefits of using eucalyptus oil on your gums: Antibacterial: Eucalyptus oil has strong antibacterial properties that can help kill bacteria that cause gum disease. Anti-inflammatory: Eucalyptus oil can help reduce inflammation in the gums, which can help relieve pain and swelling. Anesthetic: Eucalyptus oil has mild anesthetic properties that can help numb the gums and relieve pain. However, it is important to note that eucalyptus oil can be toxic if ingested. Always use it with caution and avoid swallowing it. If you experience any adverse reactions, such as burning, stinging, or irritation, discontinue use and rinse your mouth with water.
what sort of surgery? Deep cleaning yes I agree with that and then if possible follow up with laser to treat the areas and get gums to reattach. This the specialist I use to support my patients when we work as a team: www.proactiveperio.com/our-services/laser-assisted-new-attachment-protocol-lanap/
As you explain, receding gum could be caused by teeth grinding. In this case, massaging gum technique might not help to regrow the gum because of the pre-existing teeth grinding. Also, massaging with a toothbrush is not easy as there is not much wiggle room between the gum the interior wall of the mouth. Perhaps, using figures might work wonder like a precision tool.
I use the gum and some other changes. My teeth are no longer loose, gums look great, no more sensitivity and they are actually whiter than they've been in years. I've been following Dr. Ellie Phillips program for about four months, I'm 66..

Firstly there are parts of it that I agree with but the problem is it is a lot of chemicals to be using daily and not very holistic when you look at the mouthwashes and toothpastes as they contain alcohol, fluoride, SLS, parabens etc. Secondly it does not address diet and other factors that support with gum health so if you are not eating correctly then the program can't compensate for that. ruclips.net/video/Y8BEOR5czME/видео.html&ab_channel=EvolveDentalHealing ruclips.net/video/FKGBYFsHaFA/видео.html&ab_channel=EvolveDentalHealing
@@EvolveDentalHealing thanks for responding! I am eating more meats and eggs, take vitamin d n k and avoid all carbs n sugars. I feel amazing . I too believe her routine is very chemically. Keep doing what you do!♥️
Jennifer, IF you truly do every step of Dr.Ellie's program, every day, you cannot be forming any thick mature bacteria deposits otherwise known a plaque. You are no longer a plaque former. Even my dentist admitted that after reading her books. Maybe that's something else you're getting on the floss.
I've been told I need oral surgery to replace the gum tissue via a skin graft that you spoke about. Is it too late for me to implement a care plan as an alternative to this? I've had this done before many years ago and I want to avoid this again if at all possible. They said my tooth have little to no measurable attachment to the gums. Are my risks to NOT have the surgery greater than the risks of the surgery itself? I'm not having any pain or discomfort.
Without knowing your case or examining you it is hard to give a specific answer but the general consensus is that gum grafting can help prolong the life span of your tooth.
Hi, I have thin gums, what can I do about it? I also am not into supplements and protein, any suggestions? I eat ultra clean food, lots of fruits and veggies and no added sugar. No sticky carbs, only fruit and sweet potatoes and lots of greens and veggies. I wanna watch all your videos. Like your advice. Hoe you can give me some tips. I will try the firm toothbrush.
See how you go with the firmer brush, I have definitely seen positive changes in my gums doing this. Go gently at first and gradually increase the firmness/pressure on the gums as they can get raw and sore at first. Give them a chance to respond like weight training building muscles. Make sure you have adequate protein intake.
Hi, I was wondering if you could tell me what this could be: 11 years ago, I developed bad, painful gum swelling in my upper row of teeth and that bad pain lasted for 10 days. My oral health was probably not the best back then. Afterwards, the pain went away and everything appeared stable. But now, eleven years later, the swelling is still there and my upper gums have been receding at a high rate in the past year and I have developed some new swellings plus an infection in my mouth and on my tongue. My oral hygiene is actually great now and I don’t eat many carbohydrates. My lower gums are completely fine. I’m sick and tired of hearing my dentist say that there’s nothing wrong and that I might be brushing too vigorously when I know that I don’t! I’m in my twenties. Please could you give me your take on this?
I can't really comment on this as I haven't examined you. Do you clench/grind your teeth as that may be a factor? I would ask to see a periodontitis as they specialise in gum issues.
@@EvolveDentalHealing I don’t really. I have seen an acceleration of gum tissue deterioration ever since I started taking stimulant medication, but I don’t think I’m much of a clencher. Going for a 3rd opinion to another dentist tomorrow, but my dentist thus far have refused to refer me to a periodontist. Healthcare (both somatic and oral) is known not to be that great where I’m from.
@@EvolveDentalHealing it's a stick (usually a copper color and on the end is a red rubber tip that comes to a point. Type in GUM stimulator in search and you will see what I'm talking about.
I checked it out and it looks too flimsy to give enough stimulation to the gums in the way that would be needed to increase the mass and thickness of the gums. This is why we are looking at moving away from the ultra-soft brushes to something more medium-firm.

i am 56 and have receding gums (2-3 lower middle teeth while others are in better shape). i never have brushed gum (i just never knew). i will start to do this now. hope it will slow the recession down. also taking organic coconut oil for 20 min in the morning as i found many people benefited from this. i saw on some videos not to floss. what do you think doctor? also some say not to use electric brush. i have used them for 2 years. seems very harsh on my gum (just feel like it) so I may stop that and use manual brush.
so long as you are cleaning between you teeth you can use floss or interdental brushes, waterpik or similar. I like an electric toothbrush so long as you let it work for you rather than scrubbing with it this on flossing: ruclips.net/video/p1Qg1spuSU0/видео.html&ab_channel=EvolveDentalHealing
I’d say try the (inexpensive) methods and as of it helps you! Many studies are unfortunately financed by companies that have ulterior motives. (I am NOT anti science/research, just wary.)
I got mine because my dentist never cleaned my teeth for 5 years ..... I believed everything was ok until I actually made an appointment with my hygienist .... She was disgusted .... I felt awful ....even though it wasn't my fault....... I've heard of pinning ... Sounds better than him grafts
I hate to hear stories like yours, it makes me so mad that dentists don't take gum health seriously enough and do everything that they can to work with you to prevent disease or help you get healthy again.
I’m confused as I was scrubbing at gums and still do so have some recession on 3 or 4 teeth. I’ve just ordered a softer brush as I was using a medium firm brush and my recession has held steady for a few years but hasn’t improved. Please help
I started to show some recession (I had never heard of it) and the hygienist said brushing too hard can cause it and make it worse. I got an electric toothbrush with a gum health brush on it. But I also clench, and that can cause it as well.
To prevent it, I heartily recommend getting checked for Coeliac disease and not being vegan. Both, simultaneously, can lead to malnourishment, which then depletes mineral stores.
I think I cover that in other videos on recession or TMJ/teeth clenching. But essentially if you clench or grind your teeth at night you are pushing forces on the tooth and bone that swings the tooth around in the jaw bone. This causes bone loss and gum recession and worsens any active gum disease.
I use a soft toothbrush for massaging as the tissue is thin and delicate. Some people have thin gum tissue and some thicker gum tissue. I have thin oral tissue. Soft massage not hard or aggressive and not too long
Dr Rachel, at time stamp 5.53 you mentioned about bone regenerations proteins and laser treatment that can be put into those spaces.. I have 2 root canals teeth that are joined together for maybe 30 years (with some metals in there). I am planning to have them replaced with 2 individual ceramic crowns . What are ways can I have the bone regenerations in there to make the teeth more stable ? I had mentioned lanap lapip laser with my dentist but he said it will not work bc I do not have any tooth beside the 2 teeth and lanap lapip will not work to regenerate more bone density. What laser treatment and bone regeneration proteins were you referring to at time stamp 5:53 ? Thank you.
Try to find a more functional periodontist by calling those type of Dentists and ask who they use or maybe there is a Perio finder to use. Google bone grafting and read about the 4 different types. They use grafts for securing the tooth implants to replace teeth, but if you are sensitive, it may be a risk for reactions. I had the cadaver with chemical cleansing and my own blood used to make healing faster. I was getting somewhat better after supplementation for what I now assume was mineral & vitamin deficiencies due to the heavy metals. I had something similar to "thyroid storm" with a severe reaction. The periodontist had to reopen the graft area and scrape it out as best he could & then I was better immediately. There is cadaver with chemical; cadaver with radiation, synthetic, and one more I forget, lol. Look it up online. They probably use grafting for the question you ask. There is something called an OSR Miner sheet that says what the material is.
yes I have - look it's not huge amounts by all means and I wonder if its because the gums are thicker and fill more space rather than vertical reattachment. My own gums are certainly more robust since trying this for myself.
@@EvolveDentalHealingI feel the human body has amazing abilities especially when given proper environment and nutrients. So the pockets on some of your patients have also reduced? that makes sense having gums take more space. @@Your.Soul.Scientist I have reduced the size of my gum pockets (even reversed some 5s) by using a WaterPik with grapefruit seed extract (10 drops per 20 oz tank). I trace each gum with the PikPocket attachment. It takes about 5 minutes.

Does coffee make periodontal issues worse? I know it's irritating to the sensitive teeth. But will the coffee make it worse faster?
Coffee is acidic and dehydrates you so that will impact the mouth directly. Caffeine intake spikes cortisol levels which weakens the immune response and ability to repair. Can strip you of minerals too.
@EvolveDentalHealing yes I recently read In healing gums naturally that it can strip me of minerals. I have suffered with severe misaligned jaw bones and jaw clenching clenching for 12 years. 7 years no night guard, and it's all coming down on me. Hello Dr. Rachel,
I am so very grateful that my quest for healing my gums brought me to you in this video.
Sounds like a good regime - I would also add using a waterpik/flosser to cleanse the areas of any pocketing or recession

Do you think taking hrt estradiol patch and progesterone for menopause will also help gum recession? I hear our gums have estrogen receptors.

-Is mouthwash daily bad in addition to oil pulling?

Did a video on this recently
I am using biotene mouthwash and use that after each meal due to the pH and xylitol.

it would to an extent but not as much as a firmer brush

Can you comment on hypothyroidism and gum disease. Thanks.
How Hypothyroidism Affects Gums:
Immune system: Hypothyroidism can weaken your body's defence against gum disease-causing bacteria.
But how long do we massage and in what manner?
I’m so mad at myself . I let myself be talked into pulling four of my bottom front teeth because they said it had less than 50% root left and the only thing keeping the teeth in were the gums . Now I’m using a retainer with the four fake teeth while I wait for time to pass before getting my impressions for a partial denture . I want to cry because I could have tried to regrow my gums and tighten them around my teeth . I don’t even actually care if two of them were slightly wiggly as I could always use my side and back teeth to eat .
I’m so angry , how do I cope with my emotions?
I will not be getting implants for various reasons although I know it’s the best solution .
bummer. I wonder if they could have been splinted and held more stable so that you could have kept them -even if only for a little while longer.

Chlorhexidine 0.5% for proven chemical control of bacteria
CITROX® & Polylysine for additional long-term protection against bacteria and viruses
Hyaluronic Acid (HA) to accelerate regeneration
Xylitol for a pleasant taste, to protect against caries and ensure strong teeth
PVP-VA for a highly effective protective film over the teeth, gums and mucosa. This is in Perio plus products.
If u don't want chlorhexidine maybe to research the other ingredients. I do know research is there for benefits of all other products. I can personally say perio plus works for me, but I was told not to take it all the time. I think this is due to the chlorhexidine staining teeth.
Here are some things to consider when choosing a eucalyptus oil for your gums:
Purity: Look for pure, 100% eucalyptus oil.
Here are some of the benefits of using eucalyptus oil on your gums:
Antibacterial: Eucalyptus oil has strong antibacterial properties that can help kill bacteria that cause gum disease.
I was told by my dentist to do surgery to slow down my gum recession.
what sort of surgery?
If you close your mouth and slide the brush along the sides of the teeth and cheek there is loads of room

I bought her zellies mints and hope they help, but when i floss i still have plaque on the floss. 😢

@@EvolveDentalHealing thanks for responding! I am eating more meats and eggs, take vitamin d n k and avoid all carbs n sugars. I feel amazing . I too believe her routine is very chemically. Keep doing what you do!♥️
@@JenniferLKersten
Yes, I’ve never gotten into her program either due to all the chemicals. :(
Jennifer, IF you truly do every step of Dr.Ellie's program, every day, you cannot be forming any thick mature bacteria deposits otherwise known a plaque.
You are no longer a plaque former. Even my dentist admitted that after reading her books. Maybe that's something else you're getting on the floss.
Dentists don't care about any of this in the US Our dental system is horrible.
Doesn’t a stiff brush and vigorous brushing damage the enamel?
You can use the stiffer brush for the gums and the softer brush for the teeth.
Great video. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Im using hello plaque mouthrinse and cyclosis, and xylotol, fluride and hydropaxkfe toothpaste
@@EvolveDentalHealing wow, many thanks to you! I did subscribe, very good channel, thank you a lot!
Hi,
I was wondering if you could tell me what this could be: 11 years ago, I developed bad, painful gum swelling in my upper row of teeth and that bad pain lasted for 10 days.
Healthcare (both somatic and oral) is known not to be that great where I’m from.
what about a gum stimulator? The kind that has the rubber pointed tip.
I'm not 100% sure what you are referring to??
@@EvolveDentalHealing it's a stick (usually a copper color and on the end is a red rubber tip that comes to a point. Type in GUM stimulator in search and you will see what I'm talking about.
Never heard of it but am open to learning more about it
type in GUM stimulator in search and you will see. It's a metal stick with a pointed red rubber end. @@EvolveDentalHealing
I checked it out and it looks too flimsy to give enough stimulation to the gums in the way that would be needed to increase the mass and thickness of the gums. This is why we are looking at moving away from the ultra-soft brushes to something more medium-firm.
May I ask why “Fix Gum Recession at Home” video that was put out yesterday is already removed and put under Private? I wanted to watch that today. Thank you.
Hi I've looked into this none of my videos are showing as private or as released in the last 24-48hrs so I'm not sure what you are experiencing. This is my newest video ruclips.net/video/MrpUbVyrxm4/видео.htmlsi=tle2l6x23rDZVOs1

I’m clenching my teeth, and I used to brush to strong. Used to smoke too. So here we go, I’m here with gum recession. 😢
Do you use a night guard fitted by your dentist? They help so, so much and also reduce headaches, jaw pain, clicking, popping and joint wear and tear. Feel better soon! : )
Increase magnesium intake.

Whats your opinion on adding waterpik to brush massage to additionally stimulate gums?
As an addition absolutely yes
Hasn't fixed my gum pockets but has stopped bleeding gums
i am 56 and have receding gums (2-3 lower middle teeth while others are in better shape). i never have brushed gum (i just never knew). i will start to do this now. hope it will slow the recession down. also taking organic coconut oil for 20 min in the morning as i found many people benefited from this.
i saw on some videos not to floss. what do you think doctor? also some say not to use electric brush. i have used them for 2 years. seems very harsh on my gum (just feel like it) so I may stop that and use manual brush.
so long as you are cleaning between you teeth you can use floss or interdental brushes, waterpik or similar.
I like an electric toothbrush so long as you let it work for you rather than scrubbing with it

any chance you have the scientific backup for gum and bone growing vertically after gum recession with out any surgical approach?
I’d say try the (inexpensive) methods and as of it helps you! Many studies are unfortunately financed by companies that have ulterior motives. (I am NOT anti science/research, just wary.)
It nice to see Krsna standing there.❤
Would blood flow and angiogenesis increase by chewing on a stick tool used by those with braces/Invisalign?
not specifically for the gums as you aren't stimulating the gum tissue directly with an orthodontic munchie
Good advice.. thank you:)
My pleasure!
Symptoms
Please help
I have no infections or gum disease
I started to show some recession (I had never heard of it) and the hygienist said brushing too hard can cause it and make it worse. I got an electric toothbrush with a gum health brush on it. But I also clench, and that can cause it as well.
To prevent it, I heartily recommend getting checked for Coeliac disease and not being vegan. Both, simultaneously, can lead to malnourishment, which then depletes mineral stores.
totally agree
Thank you Dr Rachel!
Timely. Thank you.
You are so welcome and thank you
Thank you 🙏 where in Australia can you buy xylitol

@@pammahlenhoff5550 I bought it in a health shop (Perth)
Can you please explain how a night guard can help with receding gums?
Thank you 🙏🏻
I think I cover that in other videos on recession or TMJ/teeth clenching.
But essentially if you clench or grind your teeth at night you are pushing forces on the tooth and bone that swings the tooth around in the jaw bone. This causes bone loss and gum recession and worsens any active gum disease.
I have slight showing of root and how can i stimulate gum tissue and its growth please tell mam
This video covers that for you - massage the gum with a medium toothbrush brush when you clean your teeth
@@EvolveDentalHealing ok mam ,won't it increase the receding
as long as you are not scrubbing no. Use the brush to press against the gum and massage the area by doing very small movements
Thank you.
Yes LANAP - get a referral to a periodontist for a second opinion
www.lanapaustralia.com.au/
How should I brush with an electric toothbrush? In circler motions?
the brush is already doing all the work you just simply need to guide it over the tooth surface so you don't miss any areas
Do you have any advice on what to use for a dental anesthesia. I’m reading that the dental shots are compromised with G.O.
Thank you for your advice
I have a blog on this on my website and some links on there you can check out www.evolvedental.com.au
Can’t we also use our fingers to massage the gums?
yes but a firmer tooth brush seems to work better
Good levels of Coenzyme Q10 in your body.
also have you seen gums recession reverse even just a little in your practice with these things?
yes I have - look it's not huge amounts by all means and I wonder if its because the gums are thicker and fill more space rather than vertical reattachment. My own gums are certainly more robust since trying this for myself.
@@EvolveDentalHealingI feel the human body has amazing abilities especially when given proper environment and nutrients. So the pockets on some of your patients have also reduced? that makes sense having gums take more space. If someone gets a deep cleaning or planing that you mentioned and they had slight recession- have you seen gum reattachment there?
yes once the area is healthy we see the gums tightening around the tooth and reduction in pocket depths as well as bleeding and inflammation
@@Your.Soul.Scientist
I have reduced the size of my gum pockets (even reversed some 5s) by using a WaterPik with grapefruit seed extract (10 drops per 20 oz tank). I trace each gum with the PikPocket attachment. It takes about 5 minutes.
