    I think the reason we're all tired of the Zep comparison, is that alot of people use it to denegrate the band. "Throw back, plagarism, Zep coverband. Blah, blah, blah." But I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Led Zepplin did NOT write this song. And they shouldn't get credit for it.
    Greta Van Fleet have as much, even more, of their OWN unique take, style, sound in their songs than all those similarities that people listen so hard for. And then pounce on.
    This is NOT a 70s band. These guys are NOW. They've made it their own. They should get the credit. Not Zep. Or any one else.

      Completely agree.
      Love the band, love the song. People compare to Zep, but forget to remember... Led Zep had their own influences. Sure, Greta is influenced by Zep, but I hear a lot of other sounds in there. Greta is not some ripoff. They are genuinely their own sound, and I'm so very happy they're around. I love their style.

      Whole heartedly agree Ma'am...Although their debut album had the hallmarks of a Zep tune, it was uniquely Greta...This new album more jumps into the psychedelia, much like a Temples throwback to the 60's, only theirs is to the 70's! I can even hear a little RUSH in here, but again...Unmistakably Greta! I don't believe they will stay in this realm, I believe they will move on to other areas. They seem like a band that likes to explore the space around them (blatant Cow Bell Reference!). When they are all sung and done, I believe this album will be one of their GREAT WORKS that we will marvel at and tell our grand kids about! Definitely one of my favorite new bands!

    55 year old progressive rock fan here, GVF is now my favorite rock band. Lead vocalist/band also sounds like Jon Anderson/Yes, Geddy Lee/Rush, Rik Emmett/Triumph. Age of Machine is one of my favorites, I hear a death knell/bell ringing sound reminiscent of AC/DCs Hell's Bells, pure genius... I think it goes with the theme of the death of the natural age before the machines took over, ,which we have been cheated by, "if you feel defeated, you have been cheated" ...gives me chills every time.

    Every great rock band had a strong backbone aka rythm section (Entwistle-Moon, Watts-Wyman, Bonham-Jones, Taylor-Deacon and so on). And it's the same here. Sam (g. & kb.) and Danny (d.) are a real powerhouse and give the band the tightness and groove where the other two can shine. Well done for a 20's band making 70's rock music. Btw Josh the singer must have been a love child between Plant and Geddy Lee :-D

    If Josh has any vocal similarity to Robert Plant then so be it - personally, I am very familiar with him and Josh sounds to me like JOSH. It isn't a long intro - if you know the lyrics the whole song is structured around the meaning. The four of them are fantastic musicians who operate as a collaboration allowing each other to shine. Danny - if you ever get to the end of the track guys - that drumming is far from simple. Sometimes you are a smart drummer and don't overplay through an entire song - the ending of this song rocks! Might be my favourite.

We all know how good Rainbow was. This band...if we placed them back in the 70's...if they put this sound out in the 70's, I would think they would certainly rival Rainbow. I think we would be placing them up there with all of the great bands that were doing their thing at the time. Okay, I'll end with this: You Tube "Greta Van Fleet Argentina". It's a 1-hour live video with music from their first two albums. "Age of Machine", of course, is off their third album.

    So I’m with you guys 💯 on the 60’s-70’s vibe thing they have goin. The singer and guitarist are twins. They are probably 23 now or so. The bass player is their kid brother. He’s about 20 now. The drummer is their childhood friend. He’s about 22-23 as well. The first eps and record were definitely Zep ish but I’m hearing them morph now. The guitar tone and tech settings are very late-60’s and I hear Peter Green from FLEETWOOD MAC as much as I hear Jimmy Page but his feel and vibe is really cool. The bass lines and tone are very much John Paul Jones and he throws in some funky lines as well. He plays keys too. The drum sound here is finally sounding right. It has been rubbed and dry since the first ep. wasn’t a fan. Now it’s wet and sounds live. They finally dialed it in. He sounded mechanical before. Now he sounds textured. Their arraignments are really cool 60’s-70’s as well. This tune reminds of like a spacey 60’s track with cool guitar sounds and other influences like folk and bluegrass coming in. Quicksilver Messenger Service or Jefferson Airplane maybe... . Made me want to hear more of this record for sure! I want to say a little bit about the singer ( Josh). His influences are certainly old-timely like Janis, Plant, even Joe Cocker a bit but listen to the Quiet Riot records from the early-80’s and tell me he doesn’t sound like Kevin DuBrow. That’s the guy. Josh stage mannerisms and attitude and stance is definitely Plant but his voice is much more Quiet Riot to me. Would love any feedback from you guys. Thanks for doin what you do! Love the white Rainbow t-shirt btw! 👍

    I didn’t like this band at first. I believe it’s not their fault, I just think they were initially marketed to be compared to Led Zeppelin. That’s what gave them publicity - and all publicity is good publicity. This song is amazing and I’m glad they are making original and compelling music. With that said, listen to this song at x1.25 playback speed.

The lead singer and lead guitar are actually twins. You should check out their dad on harmonica, Kelly Kiszka - these boys def got music in their blood. They grew up on all the roots music, classic rock etc... they just stuck with it, and they are knocking it out of the park! They have their own new twist on some old sounds. Love them so much!!

    this band Greta Van Fleet is not "new" at all or even recent. The band was formed in 2012, over 8 friggin' years ago and has released a grand total of 2 EPs and 1 full LP to mixed reviews. They do have some decent/pretty good tracks that are better than this one being reviewed which is definitely *not* going on my playlist---that I can promise. Bottom line why would I want to hear a band that sounds like Zeppelin when I can just listen to Zeppelin. The Greta vocalist said a while back that his biggest influence was Joe Cocker. Joe Cocker LOL??? Which is utterly laughable, deliberately going out of his way to avoid mentioning the name Zeppelin lol...

    • @Beanpolr
      @Beanpolr 3 года назад +4

      That's like asking why you would want to listen to one Zeppelin album when you already have another. You like how they sound, so of course you want more.

    • @robertwheatley9153
      @robertwheatley9153 3 года назад

      @@Beanpolr---Greta van Fleet is already dying on the vine. The hype is over. Their one full album after "only" 8 years was marginal. But go ahead and keep listening. They're not my cup of tea. Decent songs but rather forgettable. 1 year from now no one will be talking about them and 10 years from now they will be remembered as just another Zeppelin rip-off band if anyone even remembers them...

    • @Beanpolr
      @Beanpolr 3 года назад +6

      @@robertwheatley9153 I dunno, every song so far has improved and they're still slowly developing a more unique style while keeping that classic feel, so I have a feeling they'll be around for a while. Obviously never Zep famous but they're still going places.
