The singer is Josh Kiszka…his identical twin Jake is lead guitar and younger brother Sam is bass and keys. And their childhood friend Danny is on drums. Greta Van Fleet is taken from the name of an elder in their small town (Gretna Van Fleet). They thought the name was cool. This is one of my faves from them. Anyhow, really enjoyed your reaction and hope you check out more of their stuff.
Funny you mentioned it because their latest album Starcatcher is nominated for best rock album Grammy with Metallica and Foo Fighters! Also, their first EP won a Grammy…it was only 5 songs…From the Fires. This week they released studio versions of two songs from their new album and you HAVE to check them out…Indigo Streak and Meeting the Master.
All of their music sounds like this. Its 70s rock in this new age. I saw them live in 2022... The were incredible. It was like a spiritual experience. Go see them.
They have played with Metallica 😂😂 They are awesome .Josh can sing in a high register and low register phenomenal vocals and the band his two brothers and a friend.the guitarist is his twin.
Yall just earned a sub for this completely genuine reaction!! None of the other reactions actually felt this song like you guys did. That solo had you guys caught up in it completely, as well as the shift into the chorus and the emotions behind it. Both of your perceptions into the meaning were excellent. Though I would have to side with your son on the statue. I believe it represents humanity and our willingness to kill ourselves without realizing it. In other words turning the screws to our own demise. 10/10 guys keep it up!
Love Greta. So many good songs. Age of Machine is def one of my fav songs by them, and one of their darker songs. I recommend songs like Lover leaver taker believer, The Barbarians, Meeting the Master and The Archer.
"Age Of Man" next and then "When The Curtain Falls" •"Safari Song" •"Black Smoke Rising" •"Broken Bells" •"Heat Above" •"Light My Love" •"The Weight of Dreams" Theres too many to list off
I think this song is about the internet and how we need to free ourselves from its negative power on society. Check out their other music, you won’t be disappointed.
Funny that you mentioned Rush. I recently listened to the full first album of Rush and you can here how new they were. The one song everyone loves from that album (Rush) is Working Man, and curiously it's the one song on the album that sounds different then all the others. They were at first a Heavy Rock band later they were prog and as I listened to that album I could detect contemporary influences in the music. A few bars in that album sounded of Tony Iommi a few rifts of Pete Townsend, Geddy sang in a style that was very similar to others of his time. To those who continue to say these talented men sound of LZ or such, all I can say is like Rush you have to start somewhere. If they lived in the seventies they would of simply been considered contemporaries of the seventies. It was their base, their muse, the era of music that inspired them and they are now, like Rush taking that base and doing their own thing with it in the twenty first century. God bless and keep them, may the have as long and glorious a time of it as Rush did, we all can only benefit.
Check out....some other good tunes from GVF Weight of Dreams Built by nations Highway tune ( written when they were about 14) Meeting the master When the curtain falls Age of Man These guys are phenomenal from Frankenmuth Michigan . Check out, Broken Bells - Candlelight Sessions Overall, pretty good reaction video for the first time hearing Greta Van Fleet. Now, please, I beg you… Go down the rabbit hole. And, lol you’re so wrong. They toured with Metallica 😂
They do sound a bit like early Rush sometimes. But not in every way. Danny doesn't sound like Peart, for example. So it might depend on "where you're listening"...
@@chrisbenson6683 well yes and no, some parts are similar, but not enough of it if you know what i mean, and no Danny dont sound like peart, but again who can, but the voice part i have never quite understood, both can go high but their voice isnt similar at all, both are great tho in their own respective field

As others have said, this is a great rabbit hole. Definitely do more reactions to GVF. I saw them in August. Great band. Great show.
If Anne Wilson of Heart and Geddy Lee of Rush had a child it would sound like Josh listen to live videos

And, lol you’re so wrong. They toured with Metallica 😂
They are the only great band out there these days! They are from Frankenmuth Michigan.
Funny story, they have supported Metallica on many occasions.
Great band. This song is obviously about the destruction of our planet. I enjoyed your commentary!
That's your son? I thought you were just two dudes hanging out making a video
Am i the only one who thinks Greta dosent sound anything like Rush?

I always thought they sounded like a modern version of Led Zeppelin
This one has a crazy hip hop vibe to it… cant wait to sample it with my MPC.. just ordered the vinyl !
