      DrXFoXx
      He belittled the witness.. but he was effective from a defense standpoint.
      I’m not fond of his methods, but I believe they worked with this particular witness. He made her a liability to State’s case. She looks ignorant. Any physician knows that you cannot set a human being aflame with a simple lighter. She was stupid to deny that.
      They need to drop the entire “burned baby” claim. This chic is guiltyAF, but the state has NO evidence that she burned that baby and it’s moot to the charges.
      Based on this case so far..
      I think she’ll get off simply because they -cannot prove- she killed the baby before burying her. The circumstances scream that she did, but they have no evidence.
      She’s a monster. But she’s gonna walk

    • @ginar.4881
      @ginar.4881 5 лет назад +28

      She explained several times and gave a fantastic example (an electrocution incident) that as per her job, she is required to look at ALL evidence provided to her. Not just the bones alone, but interrogation interviews, information from the scene, ect.
      If you had watched the interrogation tapes, and were in her shoes having to take ALL evidence into consideration, I'm sure you could arrive at the same conclusion.
      Skylar not only said, "IT was alive for about 5 minutes". "IT moved" and "IT made a gurgling sound".
      I'm not a forensic pathologist, but to me that sounds like a live baby.

    • @jennwill80
      @jennwill80 5 лет назад +14

      Luxury Lover I think the defense did a good job showing how Skylar only said the stuff about the baby gurgling and moving in the 2nd interrogation, when the investigators said it first and lead her that why. The investigators were convinced the baby was alive because the doctor reported the baby was burned...which turned out to be wrong. So, imho, these pathologists failed at their job.

      Jennifer Williams- I too believed the defense (however obnoxious and rude they were, especially with the cross of the pathologist who ruled the death a homicide- a VERY bright and educated woman who elder defense was determined to undermine) did thier job VERY well of creating doupt- the main job of any defense strategy. The burning/creamaton point ruined this entire case. I'm very surprised that it got brought up as much as it did at trial considering it was false info. The prosecution TOTALLY should have dropped that. They wanted that conviction so bad that they went for something that didn't even happen. If I was prosecuting this case, I would have focused all that cremation nonsense on the fact that she never in any way, shape or form prepared for a live birth. The police should have asked more about her plan/s were if the baby had survived. She never expected it to. In my opinion, she knowingly took those birth control pills to damage the baby inutero. That was admittedly part of her research, and there would be no way, 3 months later to inventory those pills to ensure she didn't take a fatal dose/s for the baby.
      I do agree that considering the 2nd interview was quite forced (this is why, even if you are innocent, you ALWAYS have council present!) that shouldn't have weighed so heavy on the determination of death. I'm sure in that "bigger picture" the pathologist also considered the lack of preparation, but just couldn't admit it.
      Sorry for the novel!

    • @ginar.4881
      @ginar.4881 5 лет назад +6

      Black P Exactly! That's why this turned into the mess it did. Let's say the baby was in fact stillborn- there would have been no trouble. She may have faced disappointment from her parents (especially her wacky mother who she desperately sought affection, acceptance, and love from), but if the baby wasn't alive, it wouldn't have "ruined her life" (like the mother said) and she could have gone on to live a normal life. I'll give Skylar the benefit of the doupt she wasn't thinking clearly and was in a panic. She was said to be a "pleaser" and again IF the baby wasn't alive, she probably blamed it on herself for lack of prenatal care. From moment of conception to the moment she came clean at the doctors, nothing this girl did makes sense!
      Also if the baby was stillborn, she surely blamed herself from lack of prenatal care.
      Mentioned this in another comment, but I believe, due to her admitted "research", she took a fatal dose of birth control that killed the baby. 3 months later, there would be no way to inventory those pills. Brooke is a very sneaky girl.

      Respectfully, I think the defense lawyer is justifiably adamant with getting the facts straight. It does seem obvious to me that there was some biased testimony given by Dr. Brown based on omissions of expert opinions and facts that opposed the prosecutions basic foundations of their case. If she were truly objective in presenting the findings of the case she would have included all sources she utilized to examine the evidence. Instead, when the expert sources she accessed to help make her determination were opposite of popular prosecution opinion she suddenly reneges and says I can only go on what I saw or was capable of doing with my own expertise/equipment Well you can't have it both ways, you can't say you make a determination based on multiple sources and then not include others when it doesn't fit a judgment you have already made about this case . Very biased and or coerced testimony.

      This chick is a terrible human being period, and should be held accountable. It isn't her parents fault, she was so afraid of her parents she couldn't tell them, but she wasn't so afraid to lie and be sneaking around screwing a guy to get pregnant. No one wants to disappoint their parents, and for teenage girls your mother can seem like the worst person ever. But your mother knows what the world has waiting for you, and try as she might she really wants you to learn from her mistakes, unfortunately to grow up you have to make mistakes of your own, which is very parent's nightmare! So it isn't her parents faults for being strict, clearly they weren't too strict if she managed to get pregnant. She could've dropped that baby off at any fire station, ER, church so many options besides this.

    • @gmsgms3638
      @gmsgms3638 5 лет назад +2

      My thoughts exactly. She was taking bc pills thinking it would terminate the pregnancy just like the morning after pill. She's THAT dumb. Plus, do you go on to prom and baseball games knowing you might be going into labor with all that pain? Really? This whole case is insane. If you are old enough to have sex, get pregnant, have the baby ALL ALONE, then bury a dead body...you are old enough to face the music and deal with this pregnancy. She wasnt a scared little frightened child but a selfish spoiled brat who didnt want this "problem" to ruin her pretty perfect future. If she was planning on keeping the baby wouldnt you tell the guy that you are madly in love with and can't live without that he is going to be a step daddy in the future? That in itself is VERY telling. She had no plans of keeping that baby. On the flip side however, the prosecution has not proved she maliciously murdered the baby. This case is a tough one! I feel she needs to be held accountable for her actions/inactions.

      I love her defence lawyer, he hits everything right on the head, he says it how it is, I love it, just a yes or no, is that a yes or a no easy question. I think this doctor was going to pin this on Skylar no matter what, like the defence said she only focused on the bones and the 2nd interview with the police ignoring other doctors who said anything else to what she knew she was going to say for the outcome. Doctors like this should be struck off as you cannot testify under oath when all the facts have not been taken into evidence. She high lighted the darkened bones in the state questions but under defence cross examination she crumbled. I would have asked her, “ so doctor, you state the course of death is homicide with trauma, without the police interview, please tell the jury how you get these findings? Because you have reports stating no post trauma to the head no burning that is clear, so how did you find your homicide findings, just on the bones alone” setting a baby alight with a lighter come on that’s common sense which she could not answer with every yes or no answer she wants to give a lecture I’m surprised how cool the defence remained with that. Overall Skylar had a very good defence lawyer the state had no case really.

You will not get in trouble or be prosecuted. I can’t help but wonder if she knew about this, if her baby would still be alive 😕.

      A baby that is loved or wanted is named. I watched a few different documentaries about couples that wanted a baby and lost the child or had to terminate the pregnancy because it would put the mothers life at risk/the baby was not healthy. In those situations the mothers named the baby. There are support groups for women that lose babies at birth and they are told to name the baby and grieve the loss.
      I think if there was no name it would make the baby seem unwanted by Skylar. I see how it could backfire but I think the jury would hold it against her if she didnt name the baby.

She was so afraid to tell them she was pregnant, speaks volumes, my heart went out to this girl, she went through it all alone no support no help, and in the very part where she really needed that support her mother turns round and says “you going to jail for what you did, you not coming home” and that wasn’t even said in nice manner either. Not once did she get up to console her daughter, Skylar had to ask her to hold her hand, her dad got up later on in the interview to console his daughter but just nothing from the mother, no wonder this poor girl felt all alone and felt she couldn’t tell her parents. I am not sure what the answer is, but something is missing, oftentimes, in even some of the most caring and loving parents' households where children are too afraid to speak up about problems they are facing for fear of letting parents down. Can you imagine being a woman who wants a baby desperately and the father can decide to abort it against your will? I’ve had 5 children and realize that the mother carries the baby, so the situation is not equal, but I do have sympathy for the father’s who really want their babies and have no say in matter

    Idk much about this trial.. just seen a bit here and there .. but it does seem to be a real question as to whether that baby would even likely be born alive given the lack of prenatal and the measurements indicating the girl had much more time than she ended up with before the baby was born. That and all the abuse she seems to have inflicted on her body as a result of mommy issues -/ mom sounds absolutely awful and I kinda wish she had some culpability here - at this point gives me reasonable doubt. I will try to watch everything still though I don’t know if all of it is available or not because I keep finding videos all over .. I usually can see clear guilt pretty quickly although I try to remain neutral -it’s hard .. I’m jaded af!! - but for once .. I feel like this was a perfect storm of horror for this girl.. although her texts or media posts look so bad so awful so flippant that I can see how people doubted her.. idk.. I’d love someone to give me there thoughts in response to mine.. ;)

    • @ladyrasta5757

      I don't see why people are blaming her parents especially her mother, perhaps mom was a bit cold but how do you begin to process you gave birth to a person, raised and made sacrifices for and at 18 they could just bury their own child in the back yard like a damn dog! As a parent you have to wonder, was I too strict, was I not strict enough. As a parent there are no right answers you try your best. Aside from this, Brooke seemed like a well adjusted popular young lady, so her mother must've done something right. But Brooke was 18 when this happened and should be held accountable, what happens if she only does a few years, she could get out and do it again. This isn't a crazed stalker or a serial killer that has to "hunt" their victims, she's making her very own! So yes, the fact that this young lady seemed to be terrified of her parents is lost on me, because she wasn't too terrified to sneak around having sex and lying, so no I don't believe in this day and age this young woman thought she had no other option. I think the fact that she was so flippant on social media is very disturbing, especially since she worked with babies at a damn day care. That kind of behavior is very disturbing, telling her parents at age 18, what could they do to her. Throw her out? Her mom clearly seems concerned with what other people think, so that probably wouldn't have happened. The fact that she did not seek any prenatal care, had not contacted any adoption agencies really means she had no intention on having a live baby. Babies are going to be born, did she think the baby would just stay in there forever. If she wouldn't tell her parents she was even pregnant I doubt very seriously, she was going to walk up to the breakfast table the next morning with a screaming newborn and use that moment as the time to tell them.Keep in mind you bond with your baby before it is born, from the very first flutter of movement you wonder, is it a boy or girl, who will they look like, what will they become. This was a whole baby with developed bones, so she moved around and kicked, despite her very own mother not wanting her in her body, no prenatal care or vitamins, she made it to full term, she was a fighter! But lost her fight to the very person who was supposed to protect her!

    • @gmsgms3638
      @gmsgms3638 5 лет назад +1

      I think she was a coddled, spoiled brat who didnt want this "problem" to interfere with her perfect little life plan. Her behavior shows total selfishness/self absorbtion/narcissism. Everyone keeps pointing out she was too scared to tell her parents but what about telling her bf that she loved so much and couldnt live without that he was going to be a part of this baby's life if she really planned on keeping the baby and having it? She already knew it was too late for an abortion- her doc told her so. I also think she was taking the bc pills "thinking" it would terminate the pregnancy like the morning after pill. She's THAT dumb. And why go to prom and a baseball game knowing you might be going into labor with all that pain? Shouldnt you be addressing the pain and be concerned if you really cared about your baby and didn't mean any harm to it? Do you just go on and have your fun little dates as if nothing was wrong? You don't just ignore labor pains and think your baby is just going to be fine....i dont care how dumb you are. If she is old enough to have sex, get pregnant, have a baby all by herself, bury a body, you are old enough to know better and do the right thing. Shes not too scared to have a baby by herself or burry it but shes too scared to tell someone or plan for having a baby when you know how far along you are? Come on people!!!!! There is no definitive proof she murdered the baby but there is no proof she planned on having the baby either so by default what else can one think???? I think she may walk which is awful! I really feel she should be held accountable for her actions/inactions.
