As a 4th generation native of St. Petersburg that comes from a family that has developed a lot of property in Pinellas County, our motto was to stay away from the water. 1921 served a good lesson that many have forgotten. Had this been a direct hit, things would have been a lot worse.
Agreed. Our peninsula can’t take Cat3+… majority of the structures are wood frame. Just a few are up to code with new builds. The storm surge in the bay could be 20-30ft…
Thank you for informing people of the fact that Tampa has been directly hit. Most people today think that something has never happened before because they weren't around or alive when it happened. @@vWaLLBangz Being a native of St. Petersburg, most residential homes are made of concrete block which for the most part is unreformed with a poured lentil at the top. By most standards however; Pinellas County has a fairly old housing stock with much of it being built in the post WW2 time period and not up to today's building codes for hurricane safety. The only wood frames I recall on most homes, are the second floors that were frequently added above the garages during the late 1960's, that was a popular addition to the house besides the Florida room which was usually added on first. That is why so many kitchens are no on an outside wall in those mid century homes. Typically, a one story, one or two car garage, and an L shaped floor plan, 3 or so bedrooms, terrazzo floors, tile roof, crank-out awning windows and unfinished garage with exposed roof rafters, low ceilings, textured wet plaster walls and the like. Mostly always on a slab foundation close to the ground in areas prone to flooding. Those are the homes I remember and a good number of them should be torn down and replaced.

As someone borne and raised in Florida now at 62+ years it's sad to see this happen to people. On the other side, it's sickening to see what has happen to all of our cost lines, beaches, rivers, lakes and streams. People have destroyed them all with this massive over crowding and massive over developing. I can remember going down A1A taking in the awesome look of the beach. Now all you can see is the backs of houses, Condos. apartment complexes, Pubs and restaurants. It's all gone forever to make way for people mostly from the North. Many have no clue to what this States was not many years ago and will never know now sadly.
I read that historically, people that lived by the ocean were the poor, so the wealthy didn't lose their homes. With the costs of insurance now that might return.

What insurance 😮😮😮
IF they insure
@@TheVigilantEye77 well, the owner of the place has a youtube channel. Ben Mallah. It's a great youtube channel. I'm sure he'll have a video on the hurricane. His house is right on the beach.
Hand outs.... to the "closet" SOCIALISTS waiting for TAX PAYER'S "ASSISTANNCE!!"
Most of the businesses are owned by wealthy individuals and conglomerates. They have the money to afford high insurance costs and they get a heafty payout in return thus why they're able to rebuild as fast as they do. Hurricanes to the wealthy and businesses means dollar signs and a new establishment. Little bit of clean-up, rebuilding and by next year serving tourist for the summer of 25' in new digs.
Thank you for filming this. So sad.
Wishing the best for you all. I am sure Ben Mallah will get you cleaned up fast!
I'm going to miss watching the Live cam. Seeing the dock like that just makes me so sad :(
They will have a new webcam in time.
This was heartbreaking to watch - thank you for sharing & you all have a great attitude considering what you've been through. 🙏♥
Love Johns pass . So very sad
😢 so heart breaking! So overwhelming. Prayers!
Sadly it WAS a Garden!
because you were here first,right?
A1A is a beautiful stretch of road. I agree. Those spaces should be for everyone.

My family has been here since the late 1700s
So yeah, some of us were here first!
Wishing you guys a speedy recovery over there from the East Coast! Florida Strong!
Omg, absolutely devastating 😢
This breaks my heart!!! 😢
it was tough, but we are so happy were back up and running! Don't forget to subscribe, hope to see you on the water sometimes soon
Horrible. I'm up in IRB and we took similar damage. It seems nothing from Pass a Grille to Clearwater Beach was spared.
Thanks for posting good luck with the rebuild!
Love yall.
Thank you for showing this video! Praying for you all!! ❤
Just letting us know who’s really “in charge”
I lived 3 blocks away from the pass for 22 years and grew up on Madeira Beach. This is so devastating and heartbreaking! Almost like a bad dream. I know the community will come together and make it better and stronger than ever! Thank you for this video, y’all are in my thoughts and prayers!
This completely break my heart. Nobody deserved having to go through this devastating mess. But we all have to give God the glory and praises for all of this, and that we are thankful for surviving this horrible storm! It was all for his glory. 😢
Thank you for your support of your community
I use to live in Largo..man so sad💔😭
So sad to see the world I so looked forward to being in every year is gone. I love the positive attitude, but…this one will be felt for a very long time.
old GTO gone sad. Bet that one will start up tho in like 2 hrs of work
My heart sank when I saw that old GTO too. Looks like maybe it was just above the high water mark.
Its rusted out by now. If he would of pulled the plugs sprayed wd40 & changed the oil and turned her over then pressure washed it this morning it would be fine. Its totaled now.
@@Floridamancan Nahh it will run It has not been long

😢💔thank you for what you guys are doing to try to clean up and rebuild …such a resilient spirit ❤️
Woow 😢captain Dylan is very sad 😞
You guys being back at the Pass gives hope! ❤
Music was not needed, and definitely not wanted. Is the imagery not sad enough? its annoying trying to hear what you're saying with music loudly playing.
Chill. He's got a lot more things to worry about than whether you're annoyed by the music. How about just send him any verbal support you can because it's going to be a long road to recovery for many many people.
I agree. Music was unnecessary.
Sending prayers and lots of love from Canada 🇨🇦
So sad. I’m Praying for everyone.

Hopefully the Mallahs can help out
I’m sitting here in tears literally I can’t believe this is happened to Florida again. My thoughts and prayers are with you guys.
The smoke detectors all going off in the distance. It’s like the buildings themselves are crying out in pain.
Greetings from Safety Harbor. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Beautiful site watching those boats at the end.
Where did you take your boats to be safe?
Sorry for all your loss 😕 I kinda enjoyed the music depicting the mood.
If you need help with cleanup we the community will be happy to help

Beyond heartbreaking. Praying for a speedy recovery ❤️🩹
were already back up and running! Thankfully we have been open for a week now... hoping to see you sometime soon for some fun in the sun
Literally looks more like a 'bombed' site than a hurricane.
Have had good times there at Caddy's. Hang in there my friends. Former Gulf Coast resident praying for you.....
The music is horrible can’t hear talking
My heart breaks for you. Sending you love from Port Orange ❤
