The prosecution keeps hurting their own premise. Just as there is no evidence the baby was still born, there is NO evidence the baby was alive. This ME was exactly correct. Manner of death & cause of death is UNDETERMINED. Period. There is not even any indirect physical evidence that lends support to either sides claims. You don't have to like it, but it is what it is. It's the truth. The reasonable doubt is without question. The case is incredibly weak and based on a lot of if's, could's, and Possible's. On BOTH sides, but the burden of proof is on the prosecution's shoulders. Aggravated Murder? Not Guilty. Voluntary Man Slaughter? Not Guilty. Concealing evidence? Guilty. Abuse of a corpse? Guilty.

Based on the testimony of the defense's psychologist, I'd say involuntary manslaughter is quite possible. She was emotional and irrational, according to him. She'd "do anything" to preserve her relationships and reputation. She intentionally did nothing to ensure that the baby would survive. She said she didn't want her and couldn't have her. She disregarded prenatal care, took some birth control and laxatives, and buried her baby versus trying to save her life. She could have been helped, according to her own father and various doctors who have testified. Those are facts and they shouldn't be disregarded during deliberations. We'll see. I'm not in the position to say what should happen. I just hope that justice, whatever that may be, is served for Annabelle...

She said she couldn't have this baby. She said, baby moved during her pregnancy. She said, baby arms moved, baby cried, baby gurgled after birth. A still born does not move, a still born does nothing. She had college to go to, she had a new boyfriend, mommy said, she would have to take care of it and work if she was pregnant, she never told anyone about this baby girl. What was she going to do? Those bones are more than bones, it was a baby girl. Rather she burned it after it was dead is not here or there because baby girl was dead by then. She also voluntarily told her dad she tried to cremate. She is a young woman, she is responsible for her her actions and rather she had issues or not. There is a lot of people with issues in prison, because she's young you can't say it's fine. Your then setting society up that all young adults are not responsible for their actions and if that's how it's going to be in society then society will have to take all adult rights away from them. Their to young to go away to college, their to young to join the military, their to young can't vote, their to young can't sign contracts to buy cars...ect...Adult rights come with adult concessions to life. Adult rights also come with adult consequences..

I do not know in this case but I really wish people would get their facts straight before they make their comments! JMO!

@O Comino Would like to know the age make up of the jury, especially the women. The women jurors are going to hold a lot of the cards in their collective decision. We also don't know if any of the jurors were asked, prior to being selected, if they have any girls/women in their inner circle the same age as Skylar. They may have some sympathy for her being so young.

    • @MrsMrMoney

O Comino there is no evidence that the baby was healthy though. They have zero proof the baby was alive or dead. The burden of proof is in the state’s hands and they have failed to provide that proof.

The judge doesnt decide. The jury decides whether she's guilty or innocent. They then usually make a suggestion for her sentencing, but the judge is the one that officially hands down her sentence. At least that is my understanding...I've never been in a situation like this 😆 But I do know the judge doesnt decide. I do agree that I hope the jury is not full of ignorant humans that just feel sorry for her, bc on my opinion that is the only thing the defense has done is try to make her seem like a nice girl who would never hurt anyone, but that she has an eating disorder so we should feel extra sorry for her.

It’s a scary phrase The State of Ohio vs the defendant, the weight of everything the prosecutor has at its disposal is rarely equal to the defense budget. I think that every defendant and prosecution should have the same amount, it truly is the only fair way to achieve justice.
