I am an IBS sufferer. It has gotten so bad that I have contemplated disability. I am starting to document my chronic pain journey on my channel because of the lack of care from several GI doctors. Also to show people that this is a real disease that causes extreme pain. My GI doctor will send me to the ER for morphine in a heartbeat. It never occurs to him to figure out what's wrong with me. Thats not the ER's job. I've encountered so many unprofessional GI doctors that I'm doubting they had the same core medical trainings as my GP. I find it hard to believe they even went to med school. Its like they are on another planet. I will seek out functional medicine. Thanks for this video.

Does anyone still doubt natural herbs? I have seen the great importance of natural herbs and the wonderful work they have done in people's lives. I wonder why people still spend their money on surgeries, injections, and medications every time they get sick. Natural herbs can cure all kinds of diseases, including, prostatitis, herpes, diabetics, asthma, cancer, hepatitis, etc. I have seen it with my own eyes. I was cured of lung cancer,And my sister and her husband was also cured of irritable bowel syndrome by Dr,Ayes who uses natural herbs to cure different types of illnesses. Even Ayes proved to the whole world that natural herbs can cure all diseases and he healed countless people using natural herbs. I know it's hard to believe, but I am a living testimony. There is nothing wrong with trying herbs. Contact him via (drayesherbalmedicine@gmail.com) or WhatsApp +2349028032485.Come and thank me later..

All they want to do is put him on a depression medication. Why is it so hard to believe his symptoms are causing him severe anxiety and depression and affecting his activities of daily living, college and working? Please help Dr Mark Hyman. This is destroying his life and seeing him suffer is horrific. He is on Medicaid. How can I find a Functional Medicine Doctor in WA state that accepts Medicaid?

What doctors tell you is not worth the price of the office call. You leave feeling more hopeless and helpless than when you went in. It takes great effort and suffering on the part of the patient to even get there in the first place and sit and wait to see a doctor. Then they want you to have to show up for a bunch of tests. They truly don't understand the stress and anxiety involved in this.

Psyllium husk (not powder which does not work as well) can help relieve both constipation and diarrhea, and is used to treat irritable bowel syndrome, hemorrhoids, and other intestinal problems. Psyllium has also been used to help regulate blood sugar levels in people with diabetes.
Psyllium can also be used to help relieve mild-to-moderate diarrhea. It soaks up a significant amount of water in the digestive tract, making stool firmer and slower to pass.
Recommended dosage is 1 or 2 tablespoonfuls taken first thing in the morning and again around 2pm or 3pm. Take it every day to get relief. This helps many people.

Did another one at the office...again negative. Prior to this had gone to gyno where they prescribed antibiotic, was prescribed an antibiotic this past winter at the Er when they suspected Covid-19...it was negative. So I took two doses of antibiotics for conditions that tested negative. So this time, I just went to my GP and told him that I didn’t want anymore antibiotics until we were sure that I needed them...and he actually agreed. I think that instead of going to gynecologist in the future... I am just going to start going to my GP because he has my whole history. There are way too many doctors working on (not with) us these days and not all of them listen let alone read our charts...they just don’t have the time to do that anymore. I have had so many stomach problems that started in 9th grade and progressively got worse and worse through high school to the point that I would use the bathroom upwards of 10 times every morning. My stomach would cramp so bad I would get tunnel vision. After many years of going to the doctor and getting zero results, I FINALLY FIGURED IT OUT! I was able to narrow it down to it being a direct result of metal from my retainers. In 9th grade, I had my braces put on. Seems that my body had a sensitivity to metal and it just got progressively worse with time. I only figured it out because I had forgot my retainers on a camping trip and seemed to be completely fine during my time camping! In the past 10 years, I have also narrowed down other stomach sensitivities and I can work and live a life like a normal person now. I pray this helps someone because I wish I could relive my high school years. I did have strep about 6 times a year between age 6 and 10 when I moved to AK. I do use probiotics often and they are heaven sent.

Testing like this is not available in New Zealand. I have been to a professor of gasteroenterology and dietitians, and they literally cannot offer any solutions except for trial and error changes to diet. I had to research my condition and tell the doctors what I wanted them to prescribe in terms of medications. I take a bile acid binder and that has made a huge difference. If I had sibo I would never know. I did take probiotics for a while and they helped. But with no one suitably skilled in NZ its expensive and time consuming to do trial and error. IBS does cause other physiological problems if it continues unchecked for many years, such as cramping and bowel urgency. Again I researched solutions myself and was able to have a physiotherapist provide a TENS device, and this has helped also. IBS is actually a lot of issues - (one of which is sibo) that need to be dealt with separately.

It’s affect my day to day life (at work, school, family functions etc) My flatulence is foul and chronic that I can’t sit in an hour long meeting in a boardroom without having to excuse myself numerous times. The embarrassment and shame I’ve experienced over the past 20 years have lead to so much anguish and depression but mainly isolation. It’s affect my schooling, work life, romantic life. I gave up trying to go to doctors as I was only told to change diet or given antibiotics.

Weel... it's like this... I have had IBS-D since after the first decade of my life. I am one if the one half or one third that is a male. There was at that time even when I was in high school going from one GI specialist to another. Like being tennis ball in a tournament. I had been 'diagnosed' with everything but the kitchen sink (well, maybe that as well). they first thought coeliac disease. then it was IBD (Crohns). Then this and that. I still continued on with this relentless diarrhoea. I was in high school, and I had one incident that turned out not to have been from any of these diagnoses. (It was late onset of gastroenteritis from rotavirus. IN HIGH SCHOOL in my junior year! Rotavirus usually happens at a very young age, like a tootler or so. I can only think that somehow I wound up dodging rotavirus for many years until I was one day when I was 17.
Well, that ran its course, but wound up with an early public (at school) with a public diarrhoea accident wearing shorts and of a light colour. VERY embarrassing, I showed my school nurse, and no verbal communication was exchanged, she just had looked at my backside, and immediately wrote and signed a school off-campus pass and told to go home -- NOW!
Well, eventually I saw this one GI who was a bit more advanced than the others, and he thought 'spastic colon' was the answer 8one of the former names for IBS). I was told to take Kaopectate to stop the diarrhoea, and to perhaps take a psychotic drug to calm the gut down. It worked for a while, but, just for a short while.
So I went on graduated from my senior year at my school and left with my folks to BC Canada. I had seen one physician in Vancouver and had been looked at. She (yes a female doctor which was something sorta new at the time) thought it was diet. So like you almost, she recommended to modify my diet, as at that time I would have cinnamon rolls for my 'nutrition' break after third period as well as quite a bit of the junk stuff.
Plus to try to do some things to unstressed me as now I was out of high school and in that stage, ‘now what'. Well this did wind up immensely helping, and I was free for a while from the flares.
But as time went on in college especially during the midterm tests and the finals, my gut revolted! I had a close (actually an actual accident there in the class) and I darted out of class to the loo. I thought that I was back to square one. This went on for about a fortnight of so, when my gut started to calm down and 'cooperate'.
I am not over with this as you know there is no cure for IBS, but just control. I have been doing relatively well, but now I am living in San Francisco but in two months’ time I shall be moving to Cherbourg in the Normandy area of France as to live with a friend for a while. This has been stressful as I had to postpone my flight as I am not quite ready for all this travel both financially and health wise. So my symptoms have returned, complete with the urgent diarrhoea 8and accidents). I do hope that when I do get over to my friend in France, that things shall calm down (after jetlag and getting settled et al).
This is rather lengthy so I shall end this here, as this has been my personal account.

IBS is not cause of stress alone.. but anxiety can cause nervous problems associated with the gut. I started suffering IBS after a bacterial infection, Shegella Soni Dysentery.. Left me with a very fragile gut..I have to watch what I eat, sticky rice helps me as I am mainly loose and can be upset by too much tomatoe, raw especially and too much Fibre can cause much bloating and wind from consumption of cabbage, bran, or hybridized modern wheats etc.

It can be just fruits that causing it, i figure it out after 10 years of severe IBS, when I went keto and stopped eating fruits. But if I start eating fruits again it comes back. So no fruits - no IBS.

IBS is often a form of carbohydrate intolerance (aka FODMAPs) so this makes sense. I have a lactose and fructose intolerance. I can eat some fruits but not many, for example I can eat a whole cup of blueberries and I'm fine but if I have a quarter of a watermelon I bloat so badly I look like I'm 7 months pregnant. Everyone's different though and I know some people with IBS who can have fruit but can't have certain grains or can't have garlic/onions.

I've just picked up a prescription, 'Colpermin', for my son's IBS issues. Until now (he is nearly 23) I was told by every doctor that it's just constipation. Anyway I digress....one of the ingredients in Colpermin is titanium dioxide!!! I despair 🙄
He was vaginal birthed, breast fed... with difficulty for his 1st ten days (he couldn't coordinate sucking and breathing, possibly due to him having small airways and poor coordination due to Down syndrome) then I got mastitis and couldn't produce much other than blood. He had recurrent chest infections and pneumonia from pre 1 year old, requiring many, many antibiotics over many years.
A bit off topic or perhaps not...until he had the MMR vax he had a great diet...then that ended resulting in a self restricted diet, in turn, resulting in malnourisment not to mention severe mental impairment, reducing my once happy toddler, who til then was meeting his DS milestones, to an unrecognizable, unhappy, rocking, moaning and suddenly non-verbal child. I wish we had functional doctors here.... not general practitioners who just push toxic meds on us and think they've done their job.

I started having symptoms about four years ago I am 40 years old now. my gastroenterologist kept saying that there was nothing wrong with me.
During a vacation to Mexico I had to be hospitalized. They found chronic gastritis caused by h pylori. Ulcerative colitis and a parasite in my stool. It's been 4 months since starting treatment. Was doing great until a week ago all my IBS symptoms have returned. I get a extreme pain on my left side five minutes after I'm done eating then I have to run to the bathroom. That causes my heart rate and blood pressure to go up. They had given me blood pressure medication because when I got to the hospital it was really high. But when I don't have any symptoms that medication bring my blood pressure down to low I had 95/60. I'm extremely frustrated and would love to find some real help.

The problem with maintaining any kind of diet that's even somewhat restrictive is you need to cook or prepare your own food. Most people nowadays don't want to do that. But if you get in that habit and understand that EVERYTHING you put in your body, even down to a piece of gum or candy, affects you in a major way, that eating is functional, not just something u do to feel good or when you're hungry, it changes the mentality completely. I've had major weight loss and health benefits from the diets I've been on, but I ultimately got so frustrated with how much I have to constantly deliberately plan out each day and bring my own food to work. But it gets easier and it becomes a habit. Especially nowadays it's so easy just to click on an app for a quick fast food lunch.

I am pretty sure I have IBS, but I really don't want to go to a Dr because I am tired of the root of my problems not actually being addressed. For years in my 20s I had issues with nausea and dizziness. I spent months and a lot of money going to different specialists and got nowhere. I gave up when the ear/nose/throat Dr basically told me "Something is off in your left ear. You're just going to have to live with it." it was clear to me she didn't want to spend time figuring out what exactly was wrong or how to make it better, she just wanted to diagnose me and get me out. Thankfully my GP is pretty good and open minded, but I am wary of going to another specialist without finding someone who is more holistic and looks at the root problem. I do not want to just take some pills!
