I am suffering from Metahne SIBO for 15 yrs, it started after food poisoning with blood in stools. my methane level is 60 ppm. I am a practising Physician (MD) in Houston. Rifaximin helped me for 15 yrs, I was doing every 6 month but not now. I have severe muscle pain with trigger points also.(extreme pain) . I would like to get in contact with Mark Pimental and his team. So my Jouney can help other people.

Have you looked into fixing your migrating motor complex? You need to get the colonic bacteria out of your small intestine by moving the bacteria out.
I have gotten great relief from artichoke and ginger supplements because they stimulate the motor complex. I suffered great pain for over 5 years, and finally came across a video that taught me this.

Amazing! Thank you for this! I suffer from these symptoms, but SIBO is not being seriously approached in the UK so self education in this matter is crucial.
I was told by gastroenterologist they couldn’t help me, as it’s the way I am built, so their answer was that I have to live with it. I didn’t even receive a diagnosis back then, now I know most probably my symptoms are due to SIBO - I just started an ordeal of a battle to get tested for it and get the treatment. Love ya! ❤

Just got my last diagnosis from my gastroenterologist because i developed problems with swallowing, burping, the feeling that i want to throw up and hiccups 3 years ago, and his end diagnosis was to explain ibs to me and told me to "Just accept it because there is no way to cure this." I remember when i had a disc buldge and i miss the good old times when i had severe back pain which was better for my psychological health than this whole regurgitation/trouble burping thing.

Thank you! No gurgling ever. I've been diagnosed with "tortuously twisted sigmoid colon" yet it's not considered by Drs in my constipation, gas and pain. My SIBO 2 breath test revealed 290 high out of 300. Had Endoscopy/Colonoscopy with samples. Precancerous polyps. Dr encouraged taking Miralax every morning to aid steady movement, even that doesn't work sometimes. I get terribly bloated (feels like I'll explode) Painful passing stool sometimes causing bleeding. I gained 40 pounds and even having just one healthy daily meal per day- can't lose! I'm in CT, I'd be happy to come to NY for help. Drs here state what I have but not offering help.

You should try and see a Naturopath or Functional med doc, I’ve had SIBO for years and traditional doctors don’t understand it at all. I went to Mayo twice as well thinking they could fix me and they had no clue what to do with me. The best doctor I’ve found to help me is a Naturopathic Physician.

Can the nerve damage (contributing to the impaired mobility due to bacteria) be reversed?
Also, I’m 6 year GERD SUFFERER and from what he has described, I suspect IBS-C with Methane dominance
I am suffering from horrible acid reflux and mouth throat chest stomach burn after eating anything.
Even Water and having an empty stomach causes heart burn. It is not food dependent.
Ive feared malignancy. Thankfully I had EDG every year that has been negative since 2018 first GERD diagnosis. No h pylori.
Last EDG showed mucosal changes around z line or something like that And gastritis. Also a small sliding hiatial hernia that they said was of no concern that was missed on 3 previous EDGs. When asked how it was missed, thru said it’s small sliding and nothing to worry about
They sent me off with a PPI which I go on and off based on how bad I’m burning.
Knowing the risk, I stay on for 2-4 weeks. Does this doctor have a list of clinical practitioners (physician-scientist minded like him NOT physician Pharma puppets) we can use to find docs in our area or online telemedicine so we can get proper testing and treatment without having to bring uniformed stubborn arrogant docs up to speed.

Malrotation/ malattachment of the gut - not rare. The sacrum can more easily become unstable in women - causing tension on cauda equina nerves to the bowel. Scoliosis may be a “red flag” of underlying issues in areas mentioned. Had Shigella in Egypt 1976. Fine. But sacrum/ pelvic injury 1998 - severe bowel dysfunction. Also - bowel malrotations affect immune function - Archives of Pediatrics &Adolescent Medicine, 1986. Fawcett et al. Immunodeficiency secondary tostructural intestinal defects. Malrotation of the small bowel and cavernous hemangioma of the jejunum. Oh my.

So Dr. Pimentel says that food poisoning causes SIBO.
I´ve been infected with a virus last year (presumably Epstein-Barr virus) and got SIBO afterwards (at least thats what a lactulose breath test revealed). Are there any knowledge about viral infections and SIBO occurence/altered gut microbiome (dysbiotic)?
