- How to Fix SIBO & Prevent Recurrence:
1. What is SIBO?: from a historical perspective to the latest research, SIBO bacteria, symptoms, and related health issues
2. How to diagnose SIBO: why I recommend one type of breath test over another and challenges with the breath testing
3. Three gases: hydrogen, methane, and hydrogen sulfide, and associated symptoms
Other forms of dysbiosis: SIBO-negative does not mean that you are free of other forms of dysbiosis
4. Treatment options include:
- Antibiotics (rational and when they may be appropriate)
- Herbals (efficacy and use in combination)
- Specific probiotics (efficacy based on published studies)
- Other supplements (5 things to keep in mind when taking
supplements)
5. Diet: beyond symptoms, what 1,500 GIs say about it, and why it has to be part of any successful treatment plan
6. Identifying and addressing underlying causes: importance and examples
7. How to prevent recurrence: the Fast Tract Diet 3 pillar approach

I just watched a video of a young man that experienced debilitating symtoms for years. After 1000s $$$ in tests and specialist he somehow discovered when he took a supplement of artichokes and ginger all his symptoms subsided. His hair even grew back.
In my own experience, i find relief with a cocktail of black cumin seed oil, ginger capsules, mushroom immune mix, Dandelion. I notice a reduction in inflammation. Another thing that I've had luck with is drinking a half cup olive oil with a cup of lemon juice b4 bed laying on my right side. No carbs or fried or vegetable seed oils
Can you give specifics of what you take?
And how much of each?
My solution was getting married. Really put true suffering into perspective. I never even notice my severe bowel pain anymore

In short: to get the results of treating SIBO:
1- Go with carnivore diet for a month or two
2- Use intermittent fasting
3- Stop eating sugar
thank you!
Is this how you got rid of Sibo? and what type did you have?
ارجو الاجابه ..اعاني من نحافه شديده كيف لي بالصيام ولا استطيع تناول اللحوم بصوره يوميه لااحبها..وزني٤٠طولي١٥٨.
Super important that you don't include fiber or cheese. I did carnivore, but included cheese and my SIBO only got worse.
@@imaalias2162 Did carnivore get rid of your Sibo? what type do you have?
I believe SIBO largely created my severe anemia . I thought it was heavy periods initially but I retested a few months after an endometrial ablation surgery to end my periods and my labs reflected no change! I recently tested positive for SIBO. Finishing antibiotics right now but have yet to see any change at all in my bowels .
yup, no deep diving or thinking AT all in our system. I was a young patient of the system, and as a nurse of decades....ptsd is an understatement.
There are many alternatives to antibiotics for this, like Biocidin, Methylene Blue, etc.
This is the best video on SIBO that I have come across so far and I have seen many. As a clinical pharmacist, medical herbalist and nutritionist, with more than 25 years practice, I can only say that I will do my best to spread a word about you and this exceptional presentation.
For us practitioners, it is quite often challenging to convince patients to give a chance to a few supplements in order to improve their condition. A good supplement without chemical additives or fillers are usually very expensive but also the most effective ones. We have also realised that without appropriate dietary guidelines and changes all the effort would only give short term results. No sugar and a very low carb diet is ultimate solution for a healthy gut.
Thank you again for this amazing presentation. All the best to you and all your viewers.
Supplements 😅😅 They don’t work ofcourse. Stop eating the sugary and fibre foods. Start eating animal protein and fats. That will drop your acid number in the correct range 0-3 ph. 100% that will help.
Excellent presentation.. good highlights w list of possibilities my gi would even know about , tu 🙏❤️
Lots of information from a keen mind. Thank you Dr Robillard.
Dr. Robillard, thank you for a wonderful video and all the information, especially not putting background music to distract for the information. Thanks.
Wow, very "impressive Doctor" and this comes from someone that rarely uses those words together. You have earned a subscriber.
Very good video. Thank you! It's incredible to find information like this, only after taking 15 years to do my own experiments when doctors couldn't help. Everything your saying lines up with what conclusions I have come to.
I SO appreciate the level of detail in this video! Too many drs and practitioners operate on a surface level and never fix the root problem.
Yes. And in order to 'fix' a problem, one has to like to THINK. I was gaslighted before I knew the term, as a child, just asking questions because I wanted to learn. And what I learned was that there was a major humility (lack thereof) issue in the system - they didn't know the answer, but instead of "that is a good question. I do not know, but thank you for asking and I will be looking into that"....their insecurity was projected onto me. They messed up my life as a child that led to a burn out of an organ in adulthood. It's a crying shame....
Most impressed, best presentation I have seen in this format...Thanks so much you have given me more info than 10 Doctor visits.
Great info, thank you Dr. Norm! Time for me and husband to make some drastic dietary changes!
Thank you, Dr. Robillard, for a comprehensive review of SIBO. You are the first doctor other than Dr. Ken Berry to recommend the carnivore diet. I will follow your suggestions.
Dr. Norm, you're a very good writer. I appreciate that you link to a transcript, too. My War on SIBO will begin shortly, and you are one of my primary guides. Thank you.

Great video. Very informative, but a lot to absorb.
I was on the zero carb (carnivore) diet for two years. No symptoms. As soon as I went off of that diet, SIBO symptoms came back. This week, I’m back on carnivore. It’s only been a couple of days and I already feel better. The fast tract app convinced me to go back to a zero carb diet. Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge.❤
I have considered carnivore diet also . But it doesn't fix the underlying problem ..that's my only concern
I thought after a while you can re introduce foods and be more on a normal diet?
Does it mean that you never eat vegetables or legumes, etc? Thanks
@@nunyabizllc2what is the underlying cause? I thought it was excessive bacteria that thrive on sugars/carbs?
@@judymiller5154I'm learning that we need to get our bodies small intestine motility back. Get it moving again!
Ginger extract and artichoke extract on an empty stomach every day are affordable and viable options.
The few naturopaths (one I follow online, the other see in person) has explained to me carnivore can seem to help bc your removing everything but does not help get the diversity back that you need in order to live a normal life. Or like the one commenter its just a bandaid. That's why so many carnivores I've watched realize they can't consume anything without a responce anymore. I say this bc I was trying to do carnivore when this all happened for me and the pendulum swung too far and I lost beneficial bacteria. What a new naturopath is recommending for myself is a strong probiotic a specific one (just ordered/can't remember the name) and I really hope it works. Alongside-ive been watching Dr Cabral here on YT. so I hope to get back to normal again
Super informative video .. there’s no exact science - we have to be detectives to try and work it out and put the pieces together. We are all also unique so what works for one person may not work for another. I think I have learned to listen to my body and be more instinctive with Sibo. Any DR who says they have a one cure fits all is not giving you the best information and advice to fit your body. It’s a nuisance but it’s a situation we have to work on, learning adapting and trying until we find a way thru. Good luck everyone on your journey.
Excellent presentation..sums it up well, everything my gi diesnt know🙏❤️
Great video! Thanks
I sure wish I could speak with you. I basically diagnosed myself in 2014. I couldn’t convince doctors to refer me to a GI. I ended up writing several GI’s all over, before one agreed to send me a sibo test. I have higher levels of hydrogen and some methane. I’m finally seeing a GI where I live after waiting a year for my appointment. Now, I have so many more GI problems. I just feel like I haven’t been able live my life now for almost 10 years. I’m so limited on what I can eat. I just wish I could get help.
What country are you from? You definitely need to get some further testing done. SIBO always has a cause. Mine was celiac disease.
I can so relate. Where do you come from?
@@lotsoftorque3632 I had undiagnosed celiac for years and food poisoning before my sibo came about. I live in the US. I've tried finding people that can help, but I have yet to find the right one.
@@hfaith81 Mine was undiagnosed for years as well, atleast 7 years from what I know. Celiac disease induced SIBO is a lot more common than people think, according the new research atleast 30% of celiac patients who don't see improvement after starting the gluten free diet have SIBO. I will tell you the best things that have helped me SIBO greatly so far. Oregano oil, Atrantil, Neem, Allicin, and recently soil based probiotics have seemed to help me a lot. Remember with probiotics they can take up to a few months of taking them everyday to see improvement. And they can also make you a bit worse when you first start taking them. But If you havn't tried any of these things yet I have listed, I suggest you do so to find yourself some relief. You can message me back and ask me if you are interested in knowing about the dosages.

That was an outstanding video
Im extremely thankful for your videos. Thank you.
Excellent Video-thank you! I do find that probiotics help me.
Glad you made this video Dr. Norm. It's incredible disheartening to see how many struggle with SIBO / Dysbiosis and MMC issues without even knowing the fix can be quite simple.
For me personally, due to SIFO along with SIBO---the treatment is a little bit more muddled. Digestive Enzymes and HCL has only made things worse over time. The SIBO (giardia) did shift towards SIFO over the years. I dont accredit it to HCL specifically (impossible to know), but even yeast based probiotics now give me issues. I find it interesting. I could not digest foods without enzymes, now I don't use any and I digest just fine. Even big amounts of healthy fats.
In the end, in my case, it seems to be an MMC issue post black mold exposure for 2-4 months. Causing a trickle down of CIRS, Sarcoidosis, MCAS, MCS and a whole host more. Along with CPTSD and Celiac as a base (since age 2). After connecting the dots, CIRS and MMC dysfunction as well as nervous system dysregulation---I feel like I finally have a roadmap on what needs to be addressed. Taken 14 years to figure it out, but finally getting a big picture as most doctors, nautorpaths, functional doctors etc have not been able to help me. I will devote my life to help others and delve deep into the mechanics of everything if I manage to heal.
Black mold got me big time along with several other causes . Please let me know what you figure out .I'm at the end of my rope . It's exhausting trying to figure this out .thank you so much!
You said tbe fix is quite simple? What is it? What did you do? What is MMC?
Thank you kindly Dr Norm for the wonderful very informative video .
What is your suggestion for the treatment of combine bacterial infections pseudomonas auregulosa and clostridium. Thank you kindly in advance for your advice .
thank you doctor for this video and thanks for the summary in the end i really appreciate your work
i just wonder why there are not that many researches on sibo its really crippling condition
I would also add that it is important to reduce your stress response as much as possible when you are trying to heal your gut. My naturopath recommended an adrenal support supplement which helped rid me of crippling anxiety. I also started a gentle exercise program including stretching, calisthenics and yoga, plus walking my dog down my peaceful country road. I was also having worrying gastrocardiac issues that I only found out recently are related. The deep breathing of relaxing and meditative yoga, helps those symptoms as well.
I have found some tummy issues have come back I think because I have reintroduced too many not so healthy foods back into my diet, plus sometimes I take ibuprofen for back and neck issues which cause headaches, and those cause inflammation of the stomach lining. So I think it’s time to go back on a more restrictive diet plan, and be more strict in the future.
Thank you for your story! I suspect I have SIBO going on…. I’m still figuring it all out on my own. Did you 100% confirm your diagnosis & if so how did you do it?
Coyld I ask what the adrenal support supplement you take that helped with your anxiety? My stress and worrying and anxiety are thru the roof and I dont want to take a pharm med like Zoloft.

Can bile acid deconjugation be the same as bile reflux which causes gastritis?
This is the closest so far I've heard anyone talk about bile acids in reference to gut health and SIBO, except for very few who are also suffering but not doctors.
I can see how bile reflux could cause SIBO but wondering, could it be the other way around as well? Can sludgy bile, bile that doesn't flow well cause the pyloric valve to malfunction? (I know there's other causes like ulcer and/or scarring or possible other obstructions, but barring those).
Like with the LES valve that opens when it's not supposed to because of lack of stomach acid, can the same hold true for the pyloric valve weakening because the bile isn't working correctly?
May thanks
I am preparing to do a SIBO test, but I've been taking bile salts because I don't have a gallbladder anymore, and since its removal my symptoms have worsen with major abdominal pain, and frequent bowel movements, etc., however the symptoms seem to be relieved since adding Bile salts with my 2 major meals of the day. Is it contraindicated to continue taking the bile salts before a SIBO test? Or should I stop taking them for best accuracy of the SIBO test? Thank you.
Hello, great video thanks. I’m going to purchase your book but in the meantime wondered if it’s safe to take bike salts with barrett's oesophagus?

If you only treat it with herbal antimicrobials such as berberine, allicin and oregano oil, do you need probiotics afterwards or would it not be necessary? The thing is that other times I have tried probiotics for other reasons and they have made me feel bad or I have not felt anything, so I have no idea which one could make me feel bad.
Interesting question Raquel. Keep in mind that most current probiotics are based on strains that are easy to grow, freeze dry and commercialize, and don't (with a few recent exceptions - A. muciniphila for example) include keystone anaerobic strains. Pharma antibiotics disrupt the commensal microbiome leading to dysbiosis and potentially life threatening complications - Yes, we need them for serious infections, but there is always risk.
Antimicrobial herbs, while less potent likely cause similar if muted disruption. The study linked below showed that probiotics actually slow microbiome recuperation after conventional antibiotics. You might expect the same after herbal antimicrobials.
What I find fascinating is the concept and potential of autologous FMT (banking your own poop) before antibiotics. FMT resulted in "rapid near-complete gut mucosal microbiome recolonization". www.cell.com/cell/fulltext/S0092-8674(18)31108-5?_returnURL=https%3A%2F%2Flinkinghub.elsevier.com%2Fretrieve%2Fpii%2FS0092867418311085%3Fshowall%3Dtrue#%20

I had H pylori, I do have difficulty digesting fat (pretty much my first symptom along with problems with Kreb's cycle... My body is not mine anymore.... HELP!!!!
There’s not gonna be more studies on the efficacy of herbal antibiotics because there’s no incentive to use a cheap alternative to pharmaceuticals. Oregano oil works to kill the infection for me but it always comes back if I stop because the motility issue is still present.
How can we fit this diet for a vegetarian who is allergic to eggs? are there protein sources I can include to make up?
There are many options including protein isolates, sprouted legumes, brussel sprouts, etc. I recommend the Fast Tract Diet mobile app that lists the fermentation potential (FP) for hundreds of vegetables and all other food groups
Can i get a reply @nishant gandhi??
I understood that fermented foods like sauerkraut or even sourdough was good for digestion. Then are you saying to stay away from this if we have sibo?
Yes
Dr. Does rifaxymin the medication really works? Mr GI dr prescribed it to me and its expensive
It works really well
10% better than placebo, 6% better upon retreatment. And lack of solid data on recurrance rate after treatment is stopped.
Has anyone tried Heathers Tummy Fiber ?
Chef AJ said it made her sibo and ibs better.
Do you have any more details or a link to information you wrote or you trust on the Sibo breath test false positive with people who have rapid transit issues?
